Pest Control
I recently canceled my Massey service after about 1.5 years with them. I am greatly dissatisfied with their service and the way they treated me when I decided to cancel my service. An area manager, Sammy Ramjitsingh, went so far as to threaten me with slander if I wrote this review. I would like to share this experience so others may learn from it. My problems began with a fruit fly issue I encountered in the spring/summer of 2015. The technician made, what I recall as, three separate trips. Each time, he treated the drains as he suspected that this was the root of the problem. On one of his visits, he changed his opinion. He thought the flies were not fruit flies, but were drain flies. This was troubling to me because it was very apparent by appearance that they were fruit flies. On that trip, he treated my drains for drain flies. There is a visible difference between fruit and drain flies. Even as someone that knows nothing of entomology, I knew this. The problem did not remedy itself. At this point, the area manager, Sammy Ramjitsingh, came out with a newly assigned technician (different than before). While I was disappointed with the lack of resolution, customer service was decent up until this point. Sammy changed that for the worse. By this time, I also was encountering beetles on a regular basis in the house. I requested Sammy look at both of these issues. Sammy had a bad attitude and was immediately combative when he entered my home. When it came to the fruit flies, he said the large palm trees outside my house were attracting fruit flies. This is something I have little control over as I cannot just remove the palm trees. By this point, the quantity of fruit flies in my house was significant. A trap that I had purchased easily trapped more than one hundred. For there to be such a volume, I thought there must be an opening to my house I was missing. I tried multiple times to ask Sammy if Massey can help me locate any glaring openings. Each time Sammy cut me off, not allowing me to fully state my question. Each time he pointed to the palm trees. I eventually got my question out. Sammy made no attempt to locate an opening and just said they could get in anywhere. When I asked Sammy about the beetles (which are about penny sized), he told me they were not considered a harmful pest and made no acknowledgement that there could be a reasonable opening in my house. I asked Sammy to treat my drains for the flies as they have done in the past to help reduce the number of flies breeding in my house. He declined several times before relenting. It was shocking to deal with such a rude manager. I have rarely encountered a manager that would constantly interrupt a customer and just seemed like he wanted to battle me over what he was there to do. This interaction led me to call the customer care team. I had forgotten Sammy’s name, but when I described his behavior to the receptionist she said “oh, I think I know who you’re talking about”, as if this was a regular occurrence. This discussion brought me to Scott Rothschild, the GM for the area. Scott is a very nice man unlike Sammy. He came to my house and had a look around. I appreciate Scott’s time and kindness, but it seemed he did little but poke around with a flashlight. With all due respect, I question Scott’s ability for actual fieldwork. He concluded that the trees were the issue, once again brushing off even looking for any possible entry ways for the pests. With all that being said, I still have fruit flies and I still have beetles. I received a quarterly bill from Massey ($80). Because I only ever had two pest problems in my house and neither was resolved, I chose to cancel my service with Massey. I spoke to the operator which indicated that my $80 would go to collections if I did not pay. I indicated that I felt it was not justified because of my unresolved pest issues. She suggested I compose an email and send it along, which I did. I received a call from Massey a little later, which I returned and spoke to Sammy. During the call Sammy told me fruit flies and beetles were not covered as part of my agreement. This was certainly a surprise to me. I requested a signed copy of the agreement. I told Sammy that I would be writing about my experience. Sammy got very agitated and said that slander was a dangerous thing and that he would be notifying management and the legal team of my decision. He said it would be slander to say Massey did not treat a covered pest (fruit flies and beetles) when the agreement does not mention either insect. In the interest of fairness the agreement states “Services will be provided for: Roaches, Ants, Spiders, Silverfish, Rats, Mice, Interior Fleas and Ticks, Other”. Now, I’m guessing “Other” is supposed to be filled in as if I am to anticipate any pest my home may have. So be careful with that as that seems to be their loophole for any other possible pests. I did indeed clean up the palm tree fruit on the ground as they suggested, so I held my end up of the user agreement in an attempt to prevent flies (notice this whole time they ignore the beetles). The part of the agreement I feel they did not meet was to “eliminate conditions, avenues and sources that will prevent pest entry and infestation”. I repeatedly asked for assistance in identifying and eliminating entry points to my home for flies and beetles, but got no assistance at all. Despite Sammy’s threats of slander and his demands to pay my $80 or be sent to collections, I was determined not to pay for poor service. I looked on Massey’s website and behold a “Money Back Guarantee”. As the website states: “If you are not satisfied with the results of your program, we'll provide corrective service at no additional charge. After 30 days, should your problem persist, we’ll continue to provide service at no additional charge until you are satisfied, or we'll refund your last regular service payment.” There you have it. They will refund my last regular service payment, in this case the one “owed”. So rather than meet the company policy, Sammy chose to wriggle around some dubious agreement wording and threatened me with accusations of slander. It is clear Sammy is not at Massey with the goal of customer service. I called Sammy back to discuss the Money Back Guarantee. He still felt that it was not applicable. At one point he said my pest problem was “not a Massey problem”. I mentioned that the guarantee simply says “service”. It says nothing about protected pests. I asked Sammy if coming to examine my fly problem was a service, to which he said yes. I asked then why this definition does not apply and he went into the same protected pest argument. I then asked Sammy if customer service was a part of “service”. He did not answer the question, instead saying that had nothing to do with the money back guarantee. Throughout the call he would yell and talk over me. When I confronted him as to why a manager felt the need to yell at a customer, he apologized and said he “tends to do that”. Sammy clearly wanted to stand his ground and fight more than he wanted to understand me. Therefore, I asked a callback from Scott and asked for the corporate number. Sammy refused to give me the corporate number. I found the corporate number anyway and filed a complaint. The same day, Scott called me and said he would not hold me accountable for the last service bill of $80. Whether this was Scott’s decision or passed down from my corporate complaint, I do not know. I have yet to receive contact from corporate, so perhaps they pushed this decision to Scott. So there you have it. The full truth with zero slander. Be careful of Massey’s shifty agreement tactics. If you have an uncommon pest, they will simply shrug their shoulders and point to the agreement. Sammy Ramjitsingh, in particular, is why I chose to write this review. I now question all other reviews about this company because of these threats. He has a horrible service mentality and resorts to bullying when confronted with logical concerns, ignoring his own company’s “Money Back Guarantee”. Because of Sammy Ramjitsingh, a failure to try to “eliminate conditions, avenues and sources that will prevent pest entry and infestation”, threats of slander for writing a bad review, ignoring their own Money Back Guarantee until pressed by corporate, and an open ended contract that allows them to get out of any uncommon pest issue, I implore you to look elsewhere for your pest control needs.
They continued to take money for the bills
Stay away from Massey Services Inc. I have hired them for the work and they have done. After that I have paid for the bill and hoped that our deal was done. But the company continued to take money for the services. I called them couple of times and reminded them to stop these bills. I don’t want to waste money anymore and want to stop these bills.
Contractual Obligation
I signed a one year contract with Massey Services in Vero Beach. They came the month after it ended, someone let them spray the place. I called the company and asked them to stop coming. They billed me $90 for the one visit and told me that I needed to cancel in writing. This seems unfair to me. They also sent me a contract in the mail to sign, which i did...

This company is the worst company I’ve dealt with ! I live in apopka and hired them for a flea problem i paid over $300.00 and the problem never went away.
After they had the nerve to keep billing me for a service never provided! They put on the back of there agreement that they guarantee satisfaction and it’s a lie..
You should always be aware that a lot of companies put miss leading information to get customers.. And then refuse to provide the service that they initially offer.
I signed a one year contract with Massey Services in Vero Beach. They came the month after it ended, someone let them spray the place. I called the company and asked them to stop coming. They billed me $90 for the one visit and told me that I needed to cancel in writing. This seems unfair to me. They also sent me a contract in the mail to sign, which i did not sign. I first called and asked them to change the bill. They steadfastly refused. I complained bitterly that it was innapropriate for them to bill me for a full three months servies when I just got one months service. They just kept telling me that they not only bill by the quarter, but I pay by the quarter, even if they don't provide all the services each month. This seems unfair to me for me to pay for three months service when I only want the one they gave me. It's a scam that the contract "automatically renews"
7 weeks to replace my lawn
these guys took 7 weeks to replace my lawn after they told me it would only take 3 weeks. I had to keep following up with them to find out what the heck was going on. They finally come to rip up the yard that they had sprayed Round-Up on 6 weeks ago and busted one of my sprinker heads. No call again or attempt to fix it, maybe they liked watching the geyser in my front yard when the sprinker system turned on again (I have a lot of landscape plants that need to be watered). Then they tell me my lawn would be put in on the 14th of the month. I am writing this review on the 17th and they MAY come out today and if they don't come out today, Monday for sure.
I am tired of getting lied to by this company. Say what you mean and stick by it. I would advise against using this company if you want things done in a timely manner.

We also have a problem getting sod replaced in a timely manner. Evidently in 2015 Oviedo, FL Massey had a problem with one of their vendors products not performing to Massey specifications. As a result, our yard looked as though it had never been professionally treated although we currently pay Massey a total of $855 a year for monthly lawn and shrub treatment. Massey did replace the sod in our front lawn, however when it comes to the back yard which is probably two-thirds of the job they have come up with several excuses why we don't think they have any intention of completing sod replacement as promised.

I am beyond words. I spoke with Julie in the Corp. office yesterday and explained all my concerns to her. She agreed. She is going to let the VP-Ed know about what has been going on. The funny part is, when Julie pulled my account up it showed paid, but it was cancelled! I never cancelled with Massey. I should, but they are going to correct what has been done on their dime not mine. I have invested too much money on my yard and landscaping to have my yard look like it does. They are suppose to be the Cadillac of all companies, but I fell like i am getting Kia service. No disrespect for those who own a Kia.
I can go on and on about them!
I also use Massey. I have since 2009 when they sprayed my old yard (twice) and it was still alive. At that time they had a contract with OB Sod, that is anything happen to your yard or shrubs they would replace. It took them almost a year to replace certain areas of sod in my yard. They kept blaming me. We finally got samples of the yard . One I sent out and the other they did. They actually gave my yard a fungus. After that it has been one thing after another. I am now having sprinkler issues with them. They replaced all my heads with mp3. After about a month or so my yard starting dying. It was not getting watered properly. They have been replacing heads for about 4 months now to replace the mp3, but the gentleman who is doing it did not put in the correct heads. They are now telling me if i do not get my sprinkler system fixed by them, or another company they will cancel me. I had two other companies come out and they laughed. It is the heads they put it they are not correct. I did call corp. yesterday to file a complaint. I have zoysia grass and i think i am convinced they do not know how to service the yard. I water 3 times a week when it should only be two times a week. Each zone is at 50 minutes. I am finally at my last straw with them. If it has not been for some of the guys who are nice i would have left then 2 yrs ago. i am finally going to talk to an attorney. Karen
Customer Service
Massey Green Up Services is the biggest joke. Mike Swanson does nothing but lie to Customers. He will give you a good 3 seconds of you thinking he cares about what you are saying. Massey Services should put him in the trash because he wasn't good at middleton and now he will ruin Masseys Image. He Was the rudest guy to talk to when i had a problem with my services. Because of MIKE SWANSON I cancelled My Pest, Termite Lawn and shrubs. Mr Massey Protect your image and toss away the trash.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Baco was a good company, but then they got acquired by Massey, which by all appearances is not a good company.. Baco always did what they said they would, they didn't inconvenience me. My exterminator, who was with Baco, is still there with Massey, and he does a great job, so I'm hesitant to drop my contract with what is now Massey, but Massey is really ticking me off. They want me to pay the same amount of money for half as much work -- whereas Baco would spray both inside and outside my home for roaches every 3-4 months, Massey is trying to trick me into paying the same for only having them spray outside. With Baco, I didn't need to be home when they did the exterior termite inspection, but with Massey they insist I have to be home to sign the stupid form; otherwise, they say, they won't pay the guy who does the inspection. So I'm supposed to take a day off from work just to sign a stupid form to confirm only that one of their people actually came to my house. I am very very very much tempted to go to a different company at this point, even though I like the exterminator who actually performs the service.
Bait, Switch; re-bait that hook and bill 'em. We actually inherited this company form our lawn service and we hired them to do our shrubs separately. After we cancelled the lawn service; we cancelled Massey, Their serviceman came by and started spraying anyway. We told him we had already cancelled, He said that we were already paid for the year. We told him we are not paying for any additional services but once again he said we were already paid. Then we got a bill for the service! We told them we are not paying as we already canceled. Now they are dunning us! Biggest bunch of thieves on the planet. It is time for a class-action suit.
Excuses, Excuses, Excuses: Too much water, bad lawn cutting, not enough sun, too many leaves, bad soil, bad grading, uncontrollable weeds. However, I had them replace the entire lawn and it is worse now then it was when I hired them. The kicker is, we live in a neighborhood where the community is on the same water cycle and lawn service and their years are so much better than mine. Neighbors think I am the sucker! I had one service tech advise us that the yard is bad. He said he was filling in for our regular tech. He told me that a lot of their techs never treat the lawns, but rather show up and slap a ticket on your door as if they treated the lawn. They get paid by tickets. Therefore, the yard is crappy now and they will not back up their Massey’s GreenUP Landscape Services or their "Commitment to Service Excellence". Trying to get local news station to take on!
I totally agree with the complaints listed above. The are not interested in any way to help you take care of your lawn. The technicians seem clueless! They ruined a couple of my miniature bottlebrush trees and refused to compensate or even meet me halfway with replacing the trees. I am canceling my service tomorrow morning.
Massey is the worst company I have had for pest and lawn service ever.
When I started with them I had about 100 sq ft of bad grass that needed replaced, now that area has tripled if not more. I wasted my time and money with these guys while they ruined my yard,
I basically paid them to fertilize my weeds, they did nothing to improve the thinning parts off my lawn. Every week it looks worse and worse . I was promised satisfaction and a person to follow up on the stuff they tried to fix but the 2 week follow up hasn't happened. Still waiting. Some weeds in my yard they said were uncontrollable, I asked them then what am I paying you for? No answer and no solution.
Also when I started with them I had the take care of mosquito problem and I now have a problem with ants. Their promise of "pest prevention" doesn't instill any confidence in me either.
I would never use their services. I can and will continue to share my dissatisfaction with their services with others. Worst service ever!
One thing I was promised was a lot of BS and I got it.
I used Massey Services/ Massey Green Up for my lawn for a little over a year and came away very disappointed. My lawn actually started in pretty good shape however since having Massey my lawn has been riddled by cinch bugs, sod web worms, fungus and weeds, everything continues to get worse, not better. Even with statements they write on service notes saying "Weeds will decline", "Treated for cinch bugs today", "Treated for sod web worms and fungus" etc. Their service is terrible. They are only interested in collecting their fee and hope they can get more customers than they loose due to their poor service. In my opinion they could care less about my lawn. My lawn is fully sprinklered yet not once, with all the problems, did they ever accept any responsibility for their poor service. I would not recommend Massey Services to anyone.
it is true this company only cares about the bottom line...Corporate just has a lot of over paid individuals that are just to bust brown nosing Tony Massey's Butt ! Gods gift to the world ! Would not recommend this company to my worst enemy !
I took a chance and hired Massey to take care of my lawn and what an expensive mistake that was. Being away from home on two different occasions I was not able to keep an eye on what was going on so each time I returned to a ruined lawn riddled with weeds and large bald areas in the lawn. When I hired them I turned over a lawn that had been replaced with fresh sod several months before. I now have a lawn riddled with weeds some of which are over a foot tall. Massey reps showed up each time and seemed intent on not accepting any responsibility for the mess and the excuse always seemed to be that the lawn is not getting enough water. I had Massey replace and repair my sprinkler system at a cost of almost a thousand dollars and was told that the coverage was good yet they are still saying watering is the problem. Their solution for all the weeds is that I should change my service to monthly instead of every other month. The reps seem to show up with the intent of arguing and shifting the blame instead of finding solutions. Massey may be a good company somewhere, but some of their reps are tarnishing its image, badly.
THIS COMAPNY IS THE WORST COMPANY I'VE DEALT WITH ! I LIVE IN APOPKA AND HIRED THEM FOR A FLEA PROBLEM I PAID OVER $300.00 AND THE PROBLEM NEVER WENT AWAY. AFTER THEY HAD THE NERVE TO KEEP BILLING ME FOR A SERVICE NEVER PROVIDED! THEY PUT ON THE BACK OF THERE AGREEMENT THAT THEY GUARANTEE SATISFACTION AND IT'S A LIE.. YOU SHOULD ALWAYS BE AWARE THAT A LOT OF COMPANIES PUT MISS LEADING INFORMATION TO GET CUSTOMERS.. AND THEN REFUSE TO PROVIDE THE SERVICE THAT THEY INITALLY OFFER. THE MANAGER WAS EXTREMELY RUDE
Be looking for the web site www.MasseyServicesScam.com
coming soon-I have had a bad experience and been lied to repeatedly by Sr Mgmnt...
could not, any way, shape, or form, recommend their services to anyone, as I now have weeds, dead grass,
and dead shrubs to show for their efforts-it is now going to cost me quite a bit of money to replace over $1000
worth of sod and shrubs...sad-please don't be a victim like me...Chris Hilderbrand, [protected], Titusville, Fl
