My wife and I are building a house with McBride. My dad (100% disabled Vietnam Vet) was diagnosed with cancer shortly after we left a down payment on the house. I decided to stop working to be a primary care giver for my dad. This left my household with one source of income where we couldn’t afford the new house. McBride showed no sympathy and told me “a contract is a contract”. This occurred from Nov of last year until a couple of months ago. Fast forward to this month….my dad ended up passing away on July 4th and we are still stuck with the house - it is suppose to be done in 6 weeks. We went to tour the house last week and found 30+ beer bottle caps laying on the ground. We confronted McBride on this concern and we were told that it was not the workers drinking. We asked to have McBride pay for a third party inspection on the home (it is currently in the framing stage) and they said no. We are concerned about the structure of our home and if the workers were intoxicated while building it. McBride is doing nothing about it. All we have got is a “sorry about your father but a contract is a contract”. I hope you see this message and can help us out. We ultimately just want our deposit back and to be done with this house. Thanks for your time

We confronted the carpenters and they admitted to drinking at the job site. When we asked them why they replied “well have you ever made a mistake?”
Finding beer bottle caps at the construction site raises serious concerns about the safety and quality of the work being done on your home. It's unacceptable that McBride refuses to pay for a third-party inspection, especially given your valid worries about the potential for intoxicated workers.
Their repeated response of "a contract is a contract" shows a lack of compassion and understanding. You deserve better treatment and consideration, especially under such challenging circumstances. I hope that by raising awareness about your situation, you'll receive the support and resolution you need.
Thank you for your reply. I do not trust anything they say.
