Mechanics Bank Auto Is Exiting Auto Lending
No surprise with all the issues they are facing. Read the SEC report from 2017 illustrating their shady company structure. Like many others I was made aware of a late payment which I thought was impossible with auto-pay set up. A representative told me they were having computer glitches with a system update (Late 2019). 2 months later in the midst of the pandemic and becoming a father it happened again. I didn't noticed until they repo'd the car. This wasn't a matter of money. I located the car myself the same day. I didn't receive notice for 5 days and during those 5 days when i would try to call, I couldn't get through. The information for reinstatement (California) had misinformation on it. I had to PROVE to them that I paid cash to pick up my belongings the day after the car was repo'd. They tried charging me double what the paper said for vehicle storage as well as contents storage. I told them that they never even sent an inventory of what was in the car. I've written to the CFPB and spoken to several agencies about their operations. They're crafty and have things set up in a way that puts them out of the jurisdiction of oversight regulators. Someone needs to set up a class action here...
Recommendation: There won't be future customers or odds are you won't be reading this until you already have a loan with them and an issue comes up.

This so called bank is criminal
This so called bank is criminal. Our aunt passed away and we are in the process of probate with every intention of paying off her auto loan balance. They would not tell me her balance to pay off the loan until I sent documents. I sent the documents proving she died. Two days later the car was repod. All they had to do was tell me the balance and we would have paid it off. Instead they chose to be sneaky and dishonest and repo the car. *** deserves to go to jail along with the rest of the company. This is a criminal company with terrible customer service. He pretended to be nice and sincere on the phone when really they just wanted to s*** us over all along. Snakes.

Terrible bank..Every month threats to foreclose on my business's building for no reason. They want me to know they can foreclose me anytime they wish. Worst bank ever..

My wife is a nurse and had Covid-19 3 times and due to that we got behind on payments and car got repo and now we are trying to get it back they are making it impossible to do! Plus they want waive any fees so that we can keep the car! The customer service was terrible and the supervisor was just the same! Run from this bank they have no consideration for anyone!
My business has been banking with banks Mechanics Bank purchased for over 40 years and we loved those banks
My business has been banking with banks Mechanics Bank purchased for over 40 years and we loved those banks. Mechanics Bank has destroyed them and our banking experience. They decided this year that they will not lend to Ag businesses anymore. We had a line of credit from them that just was renewed last year, and they decided to call it. They changed their mind and said we could get a line of credit if we secured it differently. In the middle of deciding if we were going with them or a different bank, they sent us a letter saying we are in default and being put in collection! I will never do business with this back again. They are getting paid off today, and I will not work with them ever again.

Worst customer service ever. Do not work with this bank. Wish I would of searched this company before conducting business with them. Customer service representative kept interrupting me, had an attitude, hung up on me, and was of basically no help. I never write reviews no matter how bad they are so for me to write my first review ever says something about this place.
Mechanics bank reported that I was 48 days past due on my vehicle payment as of 31 October
Mechanics bank reported that I was 48 days past due on my vehicle payment as of 31 October . I payed the truck off in September! By them failing at doing their job once again, they have cost me 30 points on my credit report for a vehicle that was already paid in full the month prior! When I called to have the issue fixed, I was given attitude twice from the same lady and was told Sir the account is under review, Like I told you the account is under review On top of that, after I had sent them a 26k check, they sat on it for a week without processing it! The next 2 weeks I received 3 phone calls saying that my payment was late all while they were sitting on 26k of my hard earned dollars to pay the truck off!.

I have used them for 3 years and Ive never been able to get ahold of them through email or calls. Ive been paying them through my bank because theres nothing I can do, I cant access my account to see what I owe or anything. Its ridiculous and they need to get it together!
This is the worst bank I have ever used. I have been locked out of my account SO many times for absolutely nothing wrong. They have left me stranded dozens of times for "security" issues that were not issues at all . Today was the last straw.. Bank manager completely messed up my account by her own admission and now I am completely locked out again . What they do by holding your money should be illegal. would love to leave LESS than 1 star.
WORST COMPANY EVER ! Thugs work there ! Im so *** place I bought the car set it up here ! Doing my best to find someone else to take loan on ! Never take notes ! Call ya all the time! Have to verify information all the way to first born EVERYTIME! Wish Id seen the reviews before hand ! Worse than Sprint customer service, thats outside the *** stop acting like thug repossessors
Today, on 4/4/2022 I receive a call from the collections department; one payment behind
Today, on 4/4/2022 I receive a call from the collections department; one payment behind. I get a call from a person (not sure if he is a manager, I would hope not) giving me "third degree" on why ONE payment is late; asking questions such as "are you sure you can afford this" or making comments like "this is a new loan, why is it getting this kind of attention." Here is the thing, I stay in ***, there are many places are enduring hardships (gas prices or prices for anything because everything is increasing). My husband said that this is predatory lending, here is the thing a partial payment toward the balance was made the same day according to this gentleman "that is not a payment". If you have an option to go elsewhere, GO! Do not come to this place.

Mechanics Bank is withholding my direct deposit, it was deposited April 14th.
No wonder they are not accredited. It would be impossible to keep up with all of the customer complaints. If you want a bank with good honest practices and customer service, run very quickly in the other direction. I was told by multiple people at the bank that I would have my title in up-to 30 days. 30 days has come and gone and I have an understandably upset buyer. I called to see what was happening and they changed their story from up to 30 days to 4-5 weeks. There is no way it will be within their absurd margins as it has to go through the state first. What a terrible company.
I had a loan with CRB auto that was transferred to Mechanics bank
I had a loan with CRB auto that was transferred to Mechanics bank. Some of the payments I made in 2020 were late as the pandemic hit us all differently. I attempted to make my payment online 2 days prior to my due date and ran into a message saying I was not allowed to make online payments so I gave customer service a call. The person on the phone told me that due to my payment history I was no longer allowed to pay online, that I could mail it(2 days from the due date), do it over the phone(with an extra service fee), or that I could wire the money directly. I asked if there was a way for me to make my payment on time and not have to pay service fees as I was no longer allowed to make the payments online and was told no; then when I requested to speak to a manager I was hung up on.
Mechanics bank/ CRB Auto is the worst financial institution, I wish I could cut ties with the company today
Mechanics bank/ CRB Auto is the worst financial institution, I wish I could cut ties with the company today. They don't do anything they say they will. They call telling you that funds are owed even though they said they could be rolled in to the loan. I hate Mechanics Bank and the terrible customer service they provide. I had to reinstate my loan I was told I could use Western Union or Money gram. After going to 4 different MoneyGram/Western union locations and 6 calls to Mechanics Bank the teller advised I had to send the money in 4 separate transactions. Sucked because I was responsible for all of the fees to send each transaction. I get it I owed the money, but let's be serious if someone is having a hard time making payments because of funds. Its not cool to make them pay additional fees to pay accounts current.

The small business I work for has been a customer of Mechanics Bank for almost four years now
The small business I work for has been a customer of Mechanics Bank for almost four years now. We used to go into the local branch on a weekly basis. The staff was consistently friendly and helpful. Over time the small business grew. We applied for a company credit card. The limit was automatically increased as spending increased. With growth came the need for more payment options other than live checks. ACH, Bill Pay, Domestic Wires, International Wires, plus Remote Deposit during Covid-19. Every step of the way, our local branch manager, her staff and those at the corporate office, have been extremely helpful. The personal relationships we have built with this bank, and our local branch, have been invaluable as the company has grown. I am so glad we decided to stay with Mechanics Bank and not switch to a large corporate bank.
So frustrating!
So frustrating! This outfit claims they can't make any exceptions to any of their rules, even though they are aware that my auto loan is being paid off by another motorist's insurance company (due to their insured running a red light and totaling my son's car). Everyone knows that exceptions can be made in certain circumstances; they just train their service reps to always say "no." They know the insurance company sent payment but won't extend my monthly payment due date, so now my money will be tied up another 30 to 45 days- that's IF they decide to refund my overpayment. I've called twice and they won't budge. Someone in charge at Mechanic's doesn't realize that how you treat your customers goes a long way, and that word of mouth travels. I will NEVER use *** again and will let my car dealership know that they shouldn't use them, either. To ***: Based on all of the horrible reviews you receive, I would think you'd make some changes to better serve your customers. And your cookie cutter response: "Mechanics Bank actively tracks complaints and takes every voiced concern seriously" is a joke. Make some changes and you'll see your customer reviews improve.

If I could give them 0 I would
If I could give them 0 I would. They are scamming us the consumers by adding late fees even, if the payment is done the day it's due. They have been doing this to us since they took over CRB auto. This outrageous late fees just keep pilling up eventhough the world is going through pandemic. Knowing that consumers are losing their income and has become in some case having to choose from feeding our families or paying for a car. They are harrasing, underminding and taking advantage of this world wide pandemic by putting the consumers like us in an impossible position to pay for the debts. Specifically attacking those loans that are close to settle their debts. This is inhumane and what a way of messing with the consumers mental health as if we're not going through enough. We are all trying to get it together. As were told, per a customer service representative Mechanic Banks doesn't care, if you lose your vehicle because the Bank gets more if they auction it instead. They have their consumers to the suicidal point, not the way to treat people. Knowing that we are trying.Hopefully this review encourage other consumers like us to report Mechanic Banks. I encourage the consumers to check their loans and the charges.

i had a payment set for the 14th of july with a customer service rep to be taken out of my account
i had a payment set for the 14th of july with a customer service rep to be taken out of my account.i called mechanics bank the day before and told the customer service rep i was not going to be able to make the payment until the following friday , The rep set me up with different arrangements and set it *** in her computer to be paid on the 22nd and when i woke up this morning even though i called the day before they still ran my payment through my bank . This is the problem with having different people taking care of multiple accounts . No one at this company does what they say but its always being told that this conversation is being recorded . Thats a joke they dont listen . I had the pleasures of speaking with 2 managers that also couldnt answer my questions why? do you guys listen to your clients . Well in my opinion this bank *** and there reps dont listen . and their managers on duty dont either . pretty funny how they can take your money on second and now i have to call my bank dispute the charge and play the waiting game .They give excuses why they cant refund your money . Well alls i got to say to future buyers is Find a different bank to finance your loan with this bank lies and dont help you when they s*** up

I would not reccomend this company to anyone
I would not reccomend this company to anyone. We have been screwed from day one. They were not sent the right address when we purchased the care so we never recieved the welcome packet and information to where we send or make payments. So we were charged a late fee when it was out of our hands. And it only continued from there. Every payment made I save the information with all of our payment details included how much, date as well as the confirmation code. As to which they tell us its not confirming anything its just generated when payment is made. So what the heck is a confirmation number for then?! Then I made the same payment in a two week span 3 times the money sat in my bank and we called and they would tell us its on our end that the payment couldnt be found. So they tried tacking on more late fees. Moved the money to another account payed the extra 8 dollars to overnight the payment and yet again same thing happened. Not to mention they call to say your late when you have 6 days before payment is due. Tacking on late fees even before payment is due. Over all this company is by far the worst! And they ruin your credit when you pay your bills. I wish we would have done our research on who was financing our car before purchasing it.

Terrible customer service, total amount financed on contract with dealership is different than the banks contract
Terrible customer service, total amount financed on contract with dealership is different than the banks contract. Never received contract from bank and paid off auto loan 4 1/2 years early and pay off was the same as last statement when questioned the auto manager finance *** in ***, was told I was being charged a 5+ daily compound interest charge that I was never aware of told or signed to those agreements. I received a letter in luie of a contract stated paid in full, I requested the original application and contract they have on file still waiting for it so I can see where this daily interest was explained because I never accepted those terms or signed that contract the sales contract from dealer never stated nothing regarding daily interest besides the original amount i sighned for. The original loan amount for 60 months after subtracting the down payment , and making 15 payments , the pay off balance was only *** difference if I had keep paying for the intire 60 months, which paying the loan off 4 1:2 years early I felt should of been a lot less than the amount I had to pay. When I called after the first agent who told me bout daily interest , I didnt understand when I reached out a second time for copy of contract concerned regarding daily interest I was told nit true never received contract. I would never do business with bank again.

I have my auto loan with *** not my first choice
I have my auto loan with *** not my first choice. At this time recovering from Covid. I make half of my payments from every paycheck. I am within my grace *** but apparently *** policy is to call customers and demand or harass payment right away. *** calling me stating my account will potentially go into collections. Then I call back stating you can not use terms like that. Her response well new customers who have unstable payments needs to be called and it is ok to use terms like collections. I have been with mechanic bank for 1 month only and already my account is unstable (no logic). Since Shoranda loves to talk over customers I could not even address my concerns. I asked for manager. I got one of her other colleagues in place of a manager. This colleague is part of collections *** now the colleague is stating I am in collections as of right now. I guess my grace *** is out the window. I worked at a bank for 6 years and that is not how we treat or talk to our customers. Mechanic Banks please work on getting some sort of customer service training for your folks. Please do listen to my conversations with the 2 girls. Other consumers with building or have excellent credit score please avoid this bank at all cost. Upon reading other customer complaints. This bank is trying to cover up for their faults. What is written under About us is completely false. You dont build communities with unpleasant employees. ***s can succeed if proper training is provided. I will be refinancing just to avoid this bank at all cost.

I have used Mechanics Bank for my regular banking needs for more than 40 years with no problems
I have used Mechanics Bank for my regular banking needs for more than 40 years with no problems. Last week I used the El Cerrito branches ATM to withdraw money. When I got home I had an email purportedly from Coinbase telling me that someone had initiated a withdrawal from my account, with the precise amount and time of withdrawal. The email wanted to know if I wanted to stop the transaction. I was alarmed that somebody other than myself and the bank would know the exact time and amount AND somehow have my correct email address, so I called the bank's customer service. It was a major waste of time. The person who answered told me it was just a spam email and to forget it. She refused to connect me to a supervisor and said the fraud department would neither take my call nor call me back. I was on my own! I had to wait until this past Tuesday to call again, this time to my own El Cerrito branch, reasoning that I would get better information from my own bank, not the 800 number. The person who answered claimed to be the manager. She listened to my story, then blithely informed me that it was all pure coincidence and meant nothing. I asked her who I could talk with about it, because I was still concerned. She told me no one. I told her that I don't trust their ATM any more and that I am considering moving my account because I can't get even an attempt to help find out how the "coincidence" had happened. She told me she was going to disconnect me! I was so shocked by her rudeness that I disconnected her first! I decided to try to find someone higher up to seek assistance. Alas, while looking for the corporate offices to write to, I stumbled on this site and saw that Mechanics Bank is NOT Complaintsboard.com Accredited! I am even more shocked and now don't trust the bank at all. I have a big deposit to make but am looking for another bank to open a new account with the deposit. I can't believe Mechanics Bank would use a supervisor who had no skills with the public!

Handling of business loc
Both our personal and business bank accounts have been with Mechanics for over 25 years and we have received exemplary service until this year. We were renewing our Business LOC on April 10, which we have had for 5 years. We never heard anything from Mechanics, so my husband went to the branch on May 3 to find out the status of the LOC and he was advised that the loan was was not approved and the full amount had been called. We never received a letter, phone call, or email advising us of this fact.
We have had a complete breakdown in dealing with personnel at Mechanics who have been rude, disrespectful, condescending, advised us to go work with another bank, and been insulting.
We would like to find out who to talk to file a complaint regarding the service at Mechanics.
Desired outcome: To speak to someone at Mechanics regarding our treatment after 25 years as customers. We don't want to leave Mechanics, but we may.
I was struggling to log into my work account with Mechanics Bank
I was struggling to log into my work account with Mechanics Bank. After multiple attempts, I locked myself out and needed to call to get my account unlocked. In verifying my identity, the technician asked me to verify all nine digits of my social security number. I pointed out that this isn't security from my point of view. I am deeply disturbed that someone working at a call center for Mechanics Bank can plainly see all nine digits of my SSN. When I pointed out my issue, the woman said, "we have it on file, anyway."To be clear, I don't have an issue with my full SSN being on file. I find it a gross violation of privacy that bank employees have access to it. I don't have a personal account with this bank, I am required to have an account for my work. Mechanics Bank should not be permitted to handle sensitive data in this way.

On January 09 I purchased a vehicle and was finance through Mechanics Bank
On January 09 I purchased a vehicle and was finance through Mechanics Bank. On September 10 my vehicle was a total loss. My insurance company paid the Actual Cash Value $24,478.61 + $1,897.09 sales tax (that I paid at time of purchase) +$82.16 dmv license fee (that I paid at time of purchase) totalling $25,457.86. The loan balance was $33,092.36, the *** insurance Paid $6,569.11. *** if charging me the balance that the *** insurance did not pay, however, they kept the $1,897.09 sales tax "I" paid not them. I have been going back and forth with the gap company to pay the balance and it is not being done and now Mechanics Bank has reported my account and delliquent to the credit bureaus and my credit score dropped over 90 points and I don't beleive that is fair as they have received over $30,000 towards the loan.

There are nothing but issues trying to pay our monthly car payment. I will set it up for autopay, get an email confirmation, then the payment isn't processed. So then I will do a one time payment so I'm not dinged for being late, which then cancels the autopay. Once the payment is processed and applied a few days later the payment will be reversed. There is NO communication that this has happened. If you don't troll their site you would have no idea. Once you pay again it will process (using the exact same pay method) but they will change how much of the payment goes to the principle vs interest. I have 6 other bills that autopay out of my savings account (with another bank) and have no problems, no reversals, and no late payments. This bank is sketchy as all get out and their payment process feel like a scam.
I am trying to payoff my auto loan with Mechanics Bank so that I can transfer its title. On August 18, 2022, at 1:50 PM (EDT), I attempted to contact a "human" representative on the customer service number, ***, to assist me in the payoff/title process since I was NOT able to register for website access. I chose the option where you leave your phone number, ***, and they would call back based on your place in line. I never received a return phone call!On August 19, 2022, I called the customer service number (again) and was informed about an approximately 39 minute wait time. It is now, 2 hours on hold! This is ridiculous! In addition, this is the only way to talk with a human!
Careless and disorganized with my Auto Loan. I paid off the loan and they sent me the Vehicle Title with the incorrect address, although the document was mailed to the correct address. I requested they charge the title document and the Bank responded that it was not their problem. I asked them to reimburse the cost of changing the title and they did not bother responding. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!

I purchased a used vehicle from *** in Redlands. They gave my loan to Mechanics Bank unfortunately. I began attempting to call their customer service *** to make payments but found that after waiting *** minutes they never answer. After doing this several times I complained to the corporate office and finally got a call and made a payment. This has happened every time I have attempted to make a payment including today. Then they charge you another fee to an outside company to make the payment. I will request that a federal regulatory agency investigate these practices. I have complained to the dealer who got the loan and I am still waiting for their call as they arranged the loan and I expect them to clean this up. Read some of the other many complaints on here and you will get the idea. Sad in 2022 dealers are still using these guys.

I mailed a cashiers check to payoff my auto loan. It was delivered on 7/25. They said it can take 48 hours to post to the account. Im not confident that they will do what they say because so far, nothing they say has been accurate. I need the loan closed so I can receive my title.
I pulled my credit and saw that this company had alleged that I applied for an auto loan in January and that was NOT true at all. It is on my credit report as a negative hard inquiry when I NEVER personally applied for any credit at MECHANICS BANK AUTO FINANCE in January or EVER.I need this removed from my credit report via all 3 reporting agencies, because it is hurting my credit.
Ive purchased a vehicle from High Quality Auto and financed through Mechanics bank. Ive continuously been harassed for payments by this bank for a long time even though Ive already paid. I also have reasons to believe that they adding hidden balances to my account.

Mechanics Bank along with *** unloaded an undrivable car (Lemon) which from all indications had been salvaged. Nevertheless, when I made my first payment to Mechanics Bank for $732.48 I also made a Principal Payment of $1750 on September 8, Instead of applying the payment to the principal as indicated by me and their invoice they instead applied the additional payment to pay their interest in advance. This was confirmed when I attempted to pay the following payment. In addition, I received an invoice from Mechanics Bank which stated that only a portion of the payment was due in December $300+ which I paid and was not applied. I tried calling Mechanics Bank emailing them about this mistake to no avail. However, Mechanics Bank fraudulently reported me late to the credit bureaus which drastically lowered my credit score. Mechanics Bank and *** consipired to unload and finance a unsafe vehicle for financial gain.

I have been trying to pay off my Mechanics Bank auto loan, and the company has made the process beyond difficult in an attempt to get us to not make payments and collect fees. We have spent over 10 hours on the phone trying to call their customer support to which we have been hung up on, refused service, and told to just make our normal payment. I have a difficult time believing that a company is allowed to not accept a payoff on a loan.
I paid my truck loan off over a month ago and still shows I owe on all 3 of the credit companys. Also have never gotten title to my truck. Yall damaged my credit with lay reporting but can not be on time to show loan is paid in full or get me the title
I purchased a car through another company who was then purchased by Mechanics Bank. I want to sell my car and have a cash Buyer ready three weeks ago. I paid off my debt with Mechanics (a little over $18k which they cashed my check the day after they received). They posted on 5/12/*** weeks later, I ask when my title will be here and am told a minimum, of four weeks. I told them this was not acceptable since the vehicle and the title are now mine.I asked to expedite at my expense. They declined telling me they don't do that. I explained my situation and they don't care.By contrast, I paid off a loan in similar circumstances just a couple of years ago and the new owner had the title in their hands the next week.I need the same sense of urgency applied to my title request as they did with cashing my payoff check.

I was a CRB Auto customer with this bank from ***
I was a CRB Auto customer with this bank from ***. My vehicle was totaled in a car accident (not at fault) the insurance company paid the balance on the car, however, they deemed I still owed them money. So I paid the stated balance after I was notified. I was charged multiple late fees I previously had no knowledge about until the last payment. I asked them to waive the late fees and they initially said no, then decided to waive them a few months later. Though I had the vehicle and made good payments for years, they decided to report 60 days past due on my credit before deciding to waive the fee & close the account. Therefore, hurting my credit. I have sought a credit report correction AND a goodwill letter for their actions - both have been denied *** After this accident I was seriously injured & required a lot of medical attention, yet still paid them the mysterious balance - and they didn't care to help a customer. They DO lack compassion and do NOT value relationships.

Initially I contacted CRB Auto with a goodwill letter to have a late payment removed from my credit report from back in 2017
Initially I contacted CRB Auto with a goodwill letter to have a late payment removed from my credit report from back in 2017. which at the time I had changed accounts and the auto pay didn't go through, this is the only blemish on my credit report all other payments are timely for years. In no way was CRB auto required to do this and I understand that, even if it is lacking any compassion, just trying to refinance my house at the time when the economy is a little shaken. The problem arouse when I tried to reach out and talk with people at CRB auto, they were rude and the customer relations were nothing like I've ever experienced in the past. multiple times I was hung up on, or left on hold indefinitely, told I would be called back with no follow up, multiple messages and emails left for supervisors in multiple departments with no response. With the customer service issues I proceeded to try to talk with someone who cared about the way customers were being treated, and stonewalled at every avenue. this company slogan is "where relationships matter" couldn't be further from the truth, Business practices at CRB auto are shameful.

We bought a car back in September and were financed through Mechanics Bank and have had nothing but issues every month since
We bought a car back in September and were financed through Mechanics Bank and have had nothing but issues every month since. The car payment is due on the 28th of every month, if we pay on that day they charge us a late fee even though it is paid on the day it is due. For the payment of the month of May this year, Mechanics Bank charged my account for the amount of my payment then contacted us 3 weeks later saying we had not paid and were past due. We contacted customer care and they asked us to send where the amount was taken out of my checking account, I did exactly what they asked for and then they said that wasnt enough and started asking for crazy requests like my entire transaction history which is private information, I sent where it was taken out of my bank account and that it was posted and the date it was posted which should have been more than enough being that thats exactly what they asked for. Now that amount is being refunded into my account like they dont want to take responsibility and are desperate for the late charge once again. Their website says that you can use a debit card, credit card, or checking account to pay a *** through MoneyGram, but when called they are saying that credit cards dont work which is false advertising. They are getting their money either way and I dont need a late payment on my credit because they messed up and wont take responsibility. Once this late charge is taken care of we will be refinancing to get away from this joke of an auto lender that we have had nothing but problems with.

Mechanics bank unjustly reported me to the credit bureau on two occasions for 30 day late payments
Mechanics bank unjustly reported me to the credit bureau on two occasions for 30 day late payments. When I first learned of the initial 30 day late payment their office could not accurately give account to where the payment fell behind, it wasn't until after speaking with the head of the credit department and further escalating the matter to the office of the president was I think given an itemized account of where "they" show the payment was off track, during the entire process of trying to reconcile the account they reported me AGAIN, knowing as a concerned consumer who was trying to get guidance and understand where the discrepancy was between their records and mine they reported me for a 2nd time, causing a major hit to my credit score and damaging my ability to refinance my home. They are predatory lenders and do not believe in good customer service. I spoke to *** on numerous occasions trying to resolve the issue and not a single person was helpful, I was made to feel that I simply just need to do a better job keeping up, and I have been paying their company for my auto financing for over 3 years and have never had any late reporting until this August. I do not recommend any consumer use this bank for their auto financing, their business model is predatory in nature, not on providing good service. This issue will take months if not years to clear from my credit report when all they had to do was just exercise some good customer service for a customer they could clearly see was trying to resolve a matter, but instead they made matters worse by reporting me again while research was in process.

I made a payment to Mechanics Bank auto finance **** on 10/19 for the amount of $350 for my car payment that was due 10/28
I made a payment to Mechanics Bank auto finance *** on 10/19 for the amount of $350 for my car payment that was due 10/28. I called the company about a few days later saying why does my account say I havent made a payment, spend a hour on the phone to find my payment. I gave them the date I made the payment and the date it was posted in my bank account and sent them a screenshot of bank statement for the payment made. I have them the confirmation number for the payment I made and they found it after a while. They said they where going to fix this issue and would be current on my payment. About a week and a half later I checked my account and found it still past due, I called about 3-4 times (left messages, waited on hold, did the call back option) the next day I tried again and got a hold of somebody and told them the situation and had to repeat same process from before and was assured the issue was going to get fixed and all late fees would be removed. Today I got a call from the bank saying Im 20 days past due, and told the phone operator the issue all over again and he said there was notes on the account for that but still not settled. Im very frustrated to have made my payment a few days early and have it get lost on their system and prove to each called i made the payment and giving them all the info all over again. My account number is #*** and my payment confirmation number was 434SN-211X8C-198 Im scared to make my payment for November and have it be lost in their system, and I been trying my best to build my credit and dont want late payments on my credit. My retailer car payment is $349.22 and as of 11/17 it says I owe $397.68.

On September 6th I called to set up a payment to come out on the 13th when I get my disability check in
On September 6th I called to set up a payment to come out on the 13th when I get my disability check in. They ran it without authorization to take my card over the phone and process it that day. I called on a recorded line. The employee that I called regarding stealing my grocery and gas money. They forced me to take a payday loan and cost me so much in interest that I will be behind again due to their theft and unauthorized use of my card. They stole from a disabled person and then another employee harassed me for not working. After the charge that they stole went through we had no food and gas so my husband can make money to pay the payment. We were hungry for 2-3 days and ate ramen and bread for a week. He acknowledged that I was calling to complain about an unauthorized charge. They seemed to think it was ok to steal. I would like the employee who stole my card and ran it that day even though on the recorded line I authorized it to be run on 9/13 and 9/27. I would like them to remove my card on file and acknowledge the theft. Pay me or credit me on my next payment due to the fact I have a huge interest rate on a loan and got NSF charges. I would like to do this before I take it to small claims court. I would like that employee that ran my card that day without authorization that day to be terminated. And the others for mistreating a customer and acknowledging theft. I am on disability for mental illness and this caused so much anxiety and depression. I could not feed my children and they didnt care. They didnt call me to collect. I called in to make the payment arrangements. They did not agree to take it out the 9/6 and did without authorization

So about 2 years ago we bought a car and it was financed through CRB financial, which was then bought out by Mechanics Bank
So about 2 years ago we bought a car and it was financed through CRB financial, which was then bought out by Mechanics Bank. Then December last year they offered to takes Decembers payment and put it to the end of the contract and all we had to do was fill out an extension agreement and email it back. So we filled it out and sent it back to the email on the paper and we thought we were done. Time went by and then we found out they never received it and that we were a month behind and so we spoke with them and they sent us a other extension agreement and we tried this again and later found out that again they never received it. Meanwhile I have the email trail showing I had sent these over several times. Then the last time we talked to they said would no longer *** this, even though they offered it and agreed to it. Recently I made a payment in June and have been waiting for the payment to post. So on July 1st we called to find out what was going on and they told us everything was fine and we are all good and then a week later our co-signer took a hard hit on her credit report for a late payment. So when I called to inquire a gentleman named *** told me that my June payment was rejected on the 17th and that they tried calling a couple times but the mailbox was full. So when I asked how come when we called on July 1st we were told everything was ok, his response was because they didnt realize that the payment didnt post?!? The man, ***, wouldnt tell me his last name or give me his employee ID number. He was very unprofessional. This company is sketchy and questionable. We have late fees because they take so long to pull the payments. We pay early and it sometimes takes up to two weeks to pull the funds. It has been one issues after another. I dont feel we owe late fees. They should have to honor the extension agreement and write the credit bureaus and have the negative remark removed.

I sent this to CFPB
I sent this to CFPB.gov The whole complaint is added.22 November Mechanics Bank Corporate Headquarters: Mechanics Bank *** To whom this may concern, My name is ***, I have been banking with Mechanics since before it was Mechanics bank. I have also been using auto pay through the bank for all my credit cards. Up until last year my auto pay was on time. Since August I have been paying a *** late fee to *** services on a card from Mechanics bank, which I have two of. Before August the manager of the *** bank on Forest St assured me that he is taking care of this issue. Every several months I would receive an e mail stating that my auto pay date was changed for certain reasons. I called the manager (***) I believe was his name, on several occasions prior to August and he reversed the charge and set my date back to where it was suppose to be and assured me it that he will take care of this issue. I never received any e mail warnings so I presumed it was all taken care of. A few weeks ago I called card member services to check balances to see how much I could spend for the holidays, and because of the 0% offer I received to pay off one of my cards. They told me that the *** late fee was charged since August . I also received a letter today from cardmember services stating that they raised my APR because of what they call serious delinquencies among other issues. After receiving this disturbing news I called the local branch and found out that *** no longer works there, so the issue is all my fault because they do not believe me. All one has to do is look at the history of my banking and they will find that I have never missed a payment for the past 5 years. The damage this has caused me is beyond my ability to fix. My credit score just bottomed out.

The past year life for many of us has had its extremes
The past year life for many of us has had its extremes. My auto loan with Mechanics had auto-pay setup from the moment I purchased the vehicle. To convenience of autopay for the customer is a "set it and forget" kind of thing, and a bit more assurance for the lender. During the past year or so, I was out of work for 7 months (this isn't a money issue). I was still paying all bills and rent without any assistance program - my car payment included. I also welcomed my first child into the world. 1 week after she was born my wife suffered from unforeseen complications. I saw the silver lining of being out of work because I was needed at home. However 2 weeks after she was born we were forced to move with the real estate market booming. Imagine getting a rental in Silicon Valley at the height of the real estate boom with no verifiable income. To add insult to injury, my identity was compromised during this time as well. After the property manager found us a vacant unit in the same complex we had no choice, but It happened again a year after that for the same reason. This time I had just gotten a new job and only having been at the job for a few months was a red flag for 8/10 landlords. While learning what it meant to be a new parent without any family in the state to help out, prepping for interviews, getting into the groove of a new job and coordinating moves, transferring utilities, the last thing I thought was that I'd have to scrutinize whether or not my auto pay was going through. It wasn't. The money was there, but auto pay had discontinued and I didn't notice until they repo'd my vehicle. I just got my possessions from the lot who have been much more helpful and responsive than Mechanics. I've left 3 messages stating that the number on the account I no longer have access to and to call me back on my new number. No call back. I sent an email no email. They can find my current address (moved 3 times) but can't find other channels to reach out?

They took the car while under a payment agreement one week early of my agreed days because I couldn't get to the phone fast enough when they called I was in the hospital and that's when they took it parked at my house. I had covid 2 times and they know this. I was only a month behind according to them and what they were telling me was I was only to pay the monthly and not worry about the late fee and that I could pay by that due date that is when yet they took the car too early according to what I was told. Now I have no job due to them taking the car early knowing I was in the hospital. So now they keep calling me. But they want money but how when I can't even get to work now. I was told in my own investigating that a rep (left me a threatening VM as well) hit the repoe button because I didn't answer because im in hospital. I have paid 12k into my payments. I was only a month behind according to them. I feel lied to on many terms. Now one rep illegally emailed me. company will lie to you and then they have rude employees told one thing and the rep left me a rude voicemail. while im in the hospital. I didn't even get the message until a week later. I thought *** ok from what I was just told 3 weeks prior. When I first got sick. They are horrible people for this. They want money but how when I lost my job now. I'm a single mom. No help. No family. I had received a 500 check a week later that was for them by when I called after my neighbor called me while in the hospital. to say I seen someone tow your car are u ok. I said oh wow really. They did it while knowing I add in the hospital. He flipped the switch on me because I didn't call back fast enough FOR HIM. I investigated my case. By the time I got out, they racked up over 4k in fees and 4 sources to track the car. *** belonging in that car as well. This bank needs to be shut down. They Also reported this account as delinquent immediatly as to prove a point. I want my Creator cleared of this now. Not fair
