Are you out of your minds? My wife and I have been paying on our MetLife Long Term Care policies for over 25 years — and you have the guts to hit us with this? Where in the hell do you think a retired couple can come up with an additional $7K @ year premium increases on top of the already almost $5K annual premiums we are already paying — so $12K a year. You use the ploy that you can decrease your premiums by decreasing benefits — like I said we have been paying for these benefits for over 25 years and cannot reduce them for our retirement needs. I know your goal is to drop the older policies or substantially cut back benefits. What you are doing is unfair and unethical and, as usual, kicks the elderly in the — ! — just when we might be close to needing these benefits. To say the rates will never increase in the future is also a farce and lie. You know darn well in upcoming years there will be new/changed management at MetLife and Ohio Dept of Insurance (worthless Govt organization and... companies) and they will say — Ooops, we are so sorry, but we were wrong "again" in calculating the actuarial tables. and inflation. It will be the same reason given by MetLife and Ohio Dept of Insurance over many decades resulting in many premium increases — therefore you will say "again" we have no choice but to raise rates to stay solvent. I am concerned about MetLife solvency over the upcoming years. Constant rate increases driving people to drop policies or substantially reducing their policy benefits means the company is or will be struggling. Where have I heard — oh everything is fine — but then bankruptcy. Guess who is left holding the bag? I plan to fight this using my lawyer, and any local, state and federal officials (Congressman & Senators), "prayer", whatever — who will listen. `This is highway robbery of the elderly — similar to a bait (buy policy and pay decades) and then switch. I wish I could say something positive to close this but I cannot — I hate getting ripped off.

Norman, I hear you loud and clear. This is an absolute outrage. After 25 years of faithfully paying your premiums, MetLife decides to hit you with a massive $7K increase on top of the $5K you’re already paying? It’s pure greed and totally unacceptable. They’re trying to squeeze every last penny out of their loyal customers, especially those who are retired and on fixed incomes. It’s disgraceful.
You’re right to fight back. Get your lawyer involved, reach out to local, state, and federal officials. Make a lot of noise about this. Use social media, write to newspapers, and make sure everyone knows what MetLife is trying to pull. They need to be held accountable for this blatant attempt to cut off benefits right when people need them the most.
You’ve been paying into this for decades with the promise of security in your retirement. Don’t let them get away with this. Stay strong, keep pushing, and don’t back down. You’re in the right here, and it’s time they understand they can’t just trample over their customers. This is about fairness and justice, and you deserve both. Make sure your voice is heard, Norman. Don’t let them take advantage of you.
