Great Experience with Midwest Photo: Quick Delivery and No Credit Card Shenanigans
I've bought stuff from Midwest Photo a few times and it's always been a good experience. The things I ordered came quick and in good shape. They don't have as much stuff as some of the other big photo stores like B&H or Adorama, but they're still a good option if you don't want to deal with B&H's credit card shenanigans. It seems like B&H is always trying to get people to use their credit card with the high interest rate to make up for the sales tax they have to charge now. Midwest Photo doesn't do that, which is nice.
Poor Customer Service at Midwest Photo: Yelled at for Lowering Mask to Focus Lens
I recently visited Midwest Photo to purchase a lens for my camera. The lens would have cost me around $650, which is a significant amount of money for me. As soon as I entered the store, I was asked to wear a mask, which I did without any hesitation. However, I faced a problem when the viewfinder of my camera started fogging up due to the mask. To focus the lens, I had to lower the mask down my nose, which is when a guy started yelling at me to put my mask back on. He yelled at me three times, and I was taken aback by his behavior. I felt like I had done something wrong, like I had stolen something. I was just trying to focus my lens, and I didn't realize that he was yelling at me.
I am 69 years old, and I don't need someone yelling at me about a mask. I have been doing business with Midwest Photo since they started in the old church building, but I don't think I will be going back there again. The way I was treated was unacceptable, and I don't want to give my business to a store that treats its customers like that. I returned the lens to the salesperson and walked out of the store.
There are plenty of other good camera stores that I can give my business to. I can also order online and not have to worry about wearing a mask. I understand the importance of wearing a mask, but I don't think it's necessary to yell at someone for lowering it down their nose for a few seconds. I am disappointed with my experience at Midwest Photo, and I hope they can improve their customer service in the future.
