I'm in a state of absolute shock as I write this. After being scammed by Mr Checkout, I'm $5,000 in the hole and feel like a complete idiot. Complete and utter regret on my part for ever coming into contact with these con artists.
These guys are experienced scammers who prey on small businesses. For the remainder of my business career I will do everything in my power to damage their reputation and help prevent other small businesses from getting scammed the way I did.
Businesses work with Mr Checkout to try and find new customers. Mr Checkout is an entity that is supposedly designer to help small businesses with their growth.
Upon beginning your work with them, they collect a $5,000 retainer which they will earn as a commission on the sales they send your way through your two-year agreement. THE OWNER OF THE COMPANY (Joel Goldstein) even gets on a video call with you to help make you comfortable with the experience. The agreement is that if there are no sales at the end of the 2-year term, your retainer will be refunded to you in full. They call it the "go-to-market agreement". The only problem is that they don't send any sales or customers your way.. And they will never allow you to get your $5,000 back.
The "warm" leads that they promise to send to you are actually random businesses that Mr Checkout pulled from their database. They send random leads, and your job is to call them to "Follow up". When you go to "follow up" with these leads, the prospects genuinely have no idea who you are or why you're calling. They don't even know the name Mr Checkout and they don't recall ever interacting with your brand on any platform.
Mr Checkout has a database of leads that they send to their victims to give the illusion that they are offering some kind of service. When the victim questions why they are not able to make any traction with these "leads", you are left hanging with no sort of explanation or adjustment, just more unknowing leads.
I want to reiterate again.. these prospects have NO IDEA why you are calling them
Once I realized I was receiving nothing of value, I brought it to the company's attention and asked for my money back. They reassured me that I will be refunded in full at the end of my 2-year term.. So I waited... and waited...
The day finally came when my contract had terminated. I was eager and motivated to finally have my much needed $5,000 back.
But when I reached out to get my money back, Mr Goldstein did not make himself available to me (like he did in the beginning).. Only Michelle Neal was available, and she told me that even though they said I will be refunded, my contract had been terminated without forewarning since I was too late to send a sample to one of the leads.
I begged and urged Michelle Neal to reconsider and to get Mr Goldstein on the phone with me.. Surely there must have been a misunderstanding. I explained to her how devastating this loss was for my business, and that I cannot afford to be in this position. After all, I was counting on this money... (MY money). She told me how this is a routine thing for them and how people like me do not get their money back. She regurgitated a forced display of empathy before continuously trying to get me off the phone. I was desperate and counting on her as my only source of potential help.
But, unfortunately, they left me dead in the water without a single care in the world.
So here I am, left speechless and humiliated with nothing to show for the hours spent (and emotions spent) just to be lead on for two years by these guys.
JOEL GOLDSTEIN, I hope you are reading this. I will NEVER forget you. It will be my sole mission to damage your "business". You are a con artist and you will get what is coming to you.
Recommendation: STAY FAR AWAY FROM MR CHECKOUT AND JOEL GOLDSTEIN
