"botox"/ no results
It has now been over a month since receiving poor services from National Laser Institute of Chicago and still not even so much as an apology has been given to me for the miscommunication or understanding of my appointment. You all should really update the information and intake process that you make new clients go through. I was given false information of what services I was signing up for and what I ultimately received. You may find this email to be late, however I am still being contacted for other services your company offers. Even after leaving negative reviews in several different places through the multiple links that were sent to me following my appointment, none of which were even acknowledged, I am still being contacted to take advantage of "new" services and pricing. Your practices are predatory using the line of "student administered" services to draw people in. Below you will find a copy of the review I left on Yelp, which no one even bothered to respond to although multiple other reviews received an answer. Similar feedback has been left on multiple other sites and links you all sent to me afterwards, again all being ignored.
"I went to the location at the Marriott hotel in Oakbrook, IL. I felt that the process& instructor were misleading & uninformative. Overall 2/10 experience. The students were friendly on a personal level but communication was poor. During initial contact from the program it was in regards to strictly receiving Botox. I was asked my areas of concern, which i told them were mainly around my eyes &smile lines. The service was to be administered by students in training, leading to a rate of $8.95 per unit. This information (price&service) was again confirmed to me during my medical video call. No other products or services were discussed or mentioned to be offered as alternatives. When I arrived to the appointment check in was easy &quick. After entering the room the students began to inspect my face telling the instructor what they thought i needed. From the beginning they were hesitant to say what i needed because they were all joking that i didn't need anything. Eventually the instructor joined the conversation &agreed that not much really needed to be done. And i was told that I couldn't get Botox. I asked if she was sure i didn't need it, and she said yes. I was bummed as I had been looking forward to starting it as a preventative measure. She asked how old i was, & after I answered the entire group was saying things like "you're still so young. Wait until you're my age. Come back in 10 years." The instructor walked back to the counter to begin filling out some other paperwork. Over her shoulder she said they'll do something called restylane in my smiles lines, but not Botox, even thought they were "minimal". I asked what the difference was &the students answered that this would just fill out the muscle instead of freezing it. I said OK. The instructor then said that it would be 449. Just like that. She didn't say dollars, or even four hundred and forty-nine, so I thought it was $4.49 [per unit]. Similar to the pricing structure of the Botox I originally booked the appointment for &again during my video call. It wasn't until the very end where i was handed a half sheet of paper where i saw the actual price of the product i received. Extremely misleading. I would have rather just been completely turned away and received nothing than to have paid so much for something that i didn't need. As the instructor was supervising the students doing the injecting, she kept repeating, "not too much. keep it superficial. Her lines are minimal." Even after they were done injecting one of the students asked if they needed to massage the area and the instructor said no because they put so little in there it would mess it up. Poor integrity to refuse me Botox if their reason was my face doesn't need anything, but they were somehow OK with &willing to administer the more expensive filler that they said i also "didn't need". It feels to me like maybe the instructor just wanted to give the students a chance to inject something new. I will not be recommending these services to anyone under 50 (if at all) in hopes of preventing them from wasting money like I did. I let a week pass as that is how long it took for the swelling &bruise to go away, and now I can see that my smile lines look absolutely no different. They were definitely all about money. Thought I was getting a good deal for being a live model for the students, but ended up spending 4 times more than expected for nothing. Truly disheartening."
Company still sending me offers and "special pricing" services with no regard to my complaints. It is clear to me that this company only cares about money over results, experience, and the well-being and relationships with their clientele.
Desired outcome: Acknowledgement, Apology, Refund
false advertising, bait and switch, and not assuming responsibility
I had received a filler treatment for my lips back in June, and although it wasn't highly significant, I definitely seen some improvement. I was very hesitant about giving them a second chance until I received an text that stated July 21, only 249 per syringe. So I called and spoke with Jamie and she said the last single syringe appointment was booked so...

This school is a RIP OFF! They will charge you $8850 for 2 weeks of training. The Admissions Reps will fill your head with all sorts of lies about your career potential.
The owner, Louis Silberman, is a snake in the grass lining his pockets with your hard earned money. Unless you are already an Aesthetician, have a job lined up or the financial resources to open your own Med Spa, you will be standing on the unemployment lines before you know what hit you.
Repeat.. DO NOT waste your time or money on this place. They don't care about you They just care about getting more & more wealthy at your expense. Shame on them. They will all rot in ***.
I also wasted my money on this joke of a school. Most of the 2 weeks of "training" is just them telling you a bunch of lies about how people will be lined up to hire you with your "certification" which doesn't mean jack. The other week is watching someone else do procedures. I think I actually touched the laser once in the two weeks I was there. Total joke and total rip off. Don't waste your money. And yes. Louis is lying a-hole that only wants your money.
I have to agree that this "school" is certainly not worth the $9000 or so that I paid in hopes of getting into the field of laser skin treatments. Now I'm going to be paying off that loan for many years. It is completely true what Brad said above.. the only people I know who got a job after getting this training were one girl who already had a job lined up for her, and her employer actually paid for her to travel here and train on lasers, and the other ones I know of were ones who had the financial resources back home to start their own clinics. Me- I have looked every day online for almost a year and a half (and gone in person with resume in hand to a least 15 different places around town), and no laser tech job, like they tell you that you will get. Every place I've ever seen advertised either wants a laser tech who is extremely experienced, or as is usually the case, one who is already an aesthetician. I really believed and trusted what the instructors told us in school, which was that you don't whatsoever need to be aesthetician certified to get a laser tech job, and that it in fact is better if you aren't. I hope others don't fall into this expensive and heart-breaking trap like I did.
Horrible
The owner, Louis, is a complete ###. The school isn't that great and they don't see value in their students or employees. Go somewhere else.

Rip off
I am very disappointed. I saw an ad on Craigslist for a free tattoo removal, and after contacting them, found that it was just a free consultation and free 1st treatment. I went ahead with making an appointment, but was unable to make my scheduled time. They have a 48-hour cancellation policy, and when I sheduled my appointment I was already within that 48-hour window. Due to circumstances beyond my control, I was unable to make my scheduled appointment, and had the choice to go in later or be charged $100! So, they are charging me for not taking advantage of a free offer! This is not the behavior of a reputable company. Due to the way they run their business and the "policy" the representative quoted, I would not give them the pleasure of your business or time.
Weird how all the replies to the first negative post have all been positive! The fact that the person is upset that a company has an industry standard policy is kind of bewildering. Theres no doubt that being charged for a treatment you didn't get sucks, but it's not NLI's fault. And at the very least, they did try to accomodate for a later appointment. I went to NLI October 2010 and attended their 8 day core class. I couldn't have been happier with the owner, the technicians and the teachers. The course was pricey indeed, but you get what you pay for. Professionalism and a great medi spa... even with their quirky policies!
I went searching everywhere for laser hair removal that would not kill my budget. When I found the National Laser Institute and noticed their prices were perfect for me. Not only do you get awesome cheap treatments, but the people giving the treatments are also laser teachers in the field as well which made me feel a lot safer. My results were quicker than I had expected.
I don't know about anyone else but I really enjoyed my experience. My laser technician was really friendly and helpful and was very knowledgeable about all of the lasers and treatments. I got radiofrequency skin tightening on my crows feet and the sagging skin on my cheeks. I didn’t even know about this treatment until she told me about it, and I am SO happy she did because my skin looks great! I didn't want to get a drastic surgery to fix my aging skin, and this was a really good alternative.
National Laser Institute was more than helpful with me regarding any concerns I had. The staff is very friendly and helpful! Great prices, great service, great experience!
every spa I've been to has the same policy. even my doctor has a 48 hour cancellation policy. i dont see what there is to complain about considering you booked a next day appointment even after being notified of the cancellation policy and they were still nice enough to let you reschedule
i've actually been to national laser institute several times and have always had a great experience. i had an emergency come up one day before my appointment and wasnt going to make it. they were nice enough to make an exception in my case and let me reschedule without a fee.
sounds like this shouldve been a positive posting instead considering they were definitely accomodating to both of us
hotel spas have similar policies where if you no show or do not cancel during a certain time they charge you a fee. The reason its appears is they could have booked someone else in same spot if client was courteous enough to let them know48 hours in advance. I am familar with national laser they have best reputation in country for highest quality providers at crazy low prices. I am sure they would happily let you reschedule your service for a diff day and make an exception to make you happy. also countless biz offer one free treatment to introduce you to the service if you think any biz on earth will give you 10 free treatment then you might think again! be happy if anyone offers even one!
The policy of NLI is not unlike any other MD or DDS office I've been to in NC. You had 48 hrs to cancel. It's only fair that they do this! Another person...like ME...could have utilized the time for that appointment. It sounds like you are more angry than it was their being a "ripoff".
At least the company offered you a chance to reschedule your appointment at a later date. Companies have policies for a reason and those policies need to be followed. I completely understand where National Laser Institute is coming from and will now give them business because they are reputable enough to have policies that they stand by. It is a good business practice.
