Nevada State Bank charged excessive overdraft fees on my husbands personal account right after Christmas while he was on the east coast dealing with the death of his father. They charged a total of $1, 160.00 in NSF fees for $157.16 worth of items presented to his account. Then they took all of the money from a Joint Checking account that I have with my husband that he doesn't even use to cover the overdraft in his personal account.
We had been customers of this bank for over 4 years and had NEVER asked for a NSF charge to be refunded, EVER. The manager Kim knew we were having financial trouble with the unexpected death of my husbands father.
He went into their office and humbly asked for the exorbitant NSF fees to be refunded. She informed my husband that they would only refund $150 of the $1, 160 in NSF fees and that our financial problems were not their concern. She said that he should have not allowed his account to go into overdraft in the first place.
I wouldn't have had a problem with this if they would have paid the items being presented against his account but they didn't. The items being presented were in range from $2.99 to $11.60, with one being around $70. There were a total of 12 items presented totaling the $157 so the first returned item fees were $420. Most of the items were presented a second time before he could stop the debits from going against the account.
Since the government (which is really us because our tax dollars will be paying for it) just gave banks and financial institutions $700 billion dollars in relief, I think it is absolutely absurd that this bank would not help us with the ridiculous overdraft fees they charged.
It is very hard to pay over a thousand dollars for $157 worth of items that were not even paid. To boot, if they would had paid the smaller items and returned the larger one (a $70 item) the account would have only incurred 1 NSF fee instead of 12. I guess they saw a way they could make some fast money and took it, at our expense!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
The worst banking experiences with Nevada State Bank after banking with them for 9 years its problem after problem!
AVOID Sunset and Annie Oakly the manager there is /partially removed/ When you go in to the branch you can hear this idiot screaming at customers on the phone and she will stand behind her protective counter and scream in your face.
If its one thing NSB LOVES to do its NSF FEES!
AVOID NEVADA STATE BANK IF YOU CAN!
Hey genius learn how to spell before you make complaints and comments. How can anyone take an uneducated and unethical waste of "human flesh" such as yourself seriously? The only reason why you are complaining and ranting is because you do not know how to balance your checkbook, which is no ones fault OR concern for the matter. First learn how to spell, than do yourself a favor and learn how to manage your finances. By the way there are courses available for both issues you have and you can find these courses from kindergarten and up.
I bet that was Teresa Cody hahahaha
Banks are not your friends.
Wholeheartedly agree with the above issues. Been with them for over 8 years---made a mistake and admiitted that to them. Was 2.23 overdrawn and it cost me 40.00 in fees . What a rip off--called and asked for some consideration and totally admitted I made a mistake and reminded them of how long we had been with them--told it wasn' a bank error so couldn't give us anything back at all and was not real nice about it but I was. Looking for anothr bank asap and these practices need investigated by Banking Commission==Terrible, Terrible. Also it is so blantant that the above responder "whatevr100" is actually Teresa Cody--- talk about not very smart ha ha ha lol
Insane fees and customer service
Have never gone into to overdraft, when realized my error, I went in to cover the amount, but the $2 here & the gas here & the larger ph bill had mult. by almost triple in fees! I begged them to stop charging me daily for over drafts... I explained my seasonal work was ending, & that $8 a day for being in the negative, wld rob me of my entire unemployment check! I told them there was no possible way they ckd justify such fees after making so much out of my money, in the past. I dont know wgat to do! they wont even let me close tbe account! its like I have to be in dept, for life, for a few charges I over spent on a weekend... :C
Horrible bank! They choose to put through payments first instead of deposits made, so they can charge you for overdraft fees. I made a 40.00 cash deposit at the ATM one day and my receipt stated 603.00 available balance. My rent check went thru for 589.00 after the 40.00 deposit to cover the check. The bank decided to put the rent check thru first then added my 40.00 deposit after. So they could charge me for overdraft fees, even though the ATM stated available balance 603.00. Such a scam being pulled by this bank! I've decided to close my account there, because I refuse to have my money stolen by the people that are suppose to be protecting it.Avoid this bank at all cost, they are not watching out for you, only themselves . They just care about making money off of you . They look for ways to charge you fees!
NSB always resolve the issue, but the pattern of behavior is too common.
We have been with NSB for several years. every 6 months or so random charges appear from gas stations in Town. They are always about $100 each. We have to freeze our card and have a new one reissued.
I believe someone inside the bank steals information, sells it to people who make a fake card to get cash back at these stations.
i was charged 7 overdraft fees within 2 days ($240) EXTREMELY Excessive. and while the money was there to cover these charges - they were showing as pending But had cleared my balance- i transferred money anyway - and still incurred fees and fees on charges that already had fees. all cuz service people were not helpful. i need the money back.
I use my NSB site daily to check my accounts, how are the web page images chosen? Instead of people, can you
use other images like a home, beautiful scenery, etc.? If you MUST use people, do they all have to be one race? This is offensive to many people of different races. How about diversity? Or animals banking? Give us a break here...
I've used Zelle in the past to send money, but yesterday February 21, 2023, I logged on to Zelle and got this message:
