unable to support commercial with colin kaepernick
I have been purchasing Nike shoes and other items of Nike for over 20 years and find myself unable to purchase Nike products any further in protest of Colin Kapernik commercial because of his beliefs in protesting when the National anthem plays. I believe respect is needed when the anthem plays and it tells the story of people who fought for Freedom and Democracy and should never be clouded by other issues. Protests are needed and should be done a different manner.
Promoting him and his way I can not support and since Nike is endorsing this, I can not support it or Nike products until this is fixed.
corporate
As a long time avid sports fan... And always buying nike products your poor democratic politics views putting a snot nosed anti american views washed up quarterback as an american hero... What a joke! I'm switching to any other sports brand than yours. You actually make me sick.! I know several others will follow suit! Hopefully several milllions... And you will go bankrupt and leave the sports attire business for good... Have a nice day... Pieces of [censored]

I do not need to use abusive language to tell you that because of your recent decision on your ad campaign, I will not be purchasing any Nike products in the future. Simple as that. I am not a huge customer for you and I do not own your stock. My decision alone will not make or break you. But it is clear to me in speaking with others, I am not alone. Your decision was ignorant and gratuitously divisive. Your business is not politics and you have no business IN politics. There is nothing you can or need to do. My dollars will go to companies who do not seek to inflame and insult fully one-half of the country. I think you will find that when it comes to a choice between hoodlums, radicals and the men and women of our law enforcement agencies, that choice will be very easy for many of your most affluent customers. Perhaps when Mr. Kaepernik (sp?) decides to start protesting drug dealers in Chicago - who kill far more black men in a year than police officers do in a century - I may have more interest in what he has to say. Until then, UnderArmor and others will benefit. Just FYI.
Grow up.

The hardest thing I had to dispose of were my Tiger Woods shirts. I have always been so proud to have met and followed Tiger for so many times during the years my wife and I traveled after selling our business. However, I am sure Goodwill will have someone who will want them.
I personally will never buy another Nike product. You want to enter politics then run for office. I am a Veteran and have no respect for those who do not respect our flag. If you want to discuss race relations then also include discussing: 40% of our violent crimes are committed by 13% of one race; 70% of single parents are of that same 13%; lowest number of graduations from HS of any race; no respect for others rights. More blacks are killed by blacks in Chicago each weekend than all the police mess ups in the country each year.
Unfortunately your CEO and his hatred for our President is more important to Nike than being a company that wants to discuss the issues, not force others and their ideas to be silenced.
Sincerely,
Jerry Trickel

Many Americans have sacrificed everything starting with but not limited to Nathan Hale, Abraham Lincoln, John Kennedy, Martin Luther King and Pat Tillman. A person not on that list is your present hero who took a knee to impress his political girlfriend. How dare you. I, my children, my grand kids and almost everyone I know will never buy another Nike product again.

kaepernick ads
Due to Nike's decision to highlight in their advertising a disruptive, anti-team, unpatriotic malcontent, my family, including the youth, will not be purchasing Nike products again. Yes, Nike may be smart in the short-term to create a media frenzy (free PR) and to target diversified youth - hope this demographic has enough spending power in the long-term to make up for the loss of the real buyers of Nike products (mature, tax-paying U.S. citizens.) I am very dissappointed in Nike's decision to continue to focus on the "me" culture, instead of emphasizing the power of the "we" or team culture. Sports should equal team, not highlight how an individual's opinions can take over an entire industry and jeapordize the rights of thousands.
advertising campaign with colin kaepernick
Well Nike has hit an all-time low with their new ad campaign with Colin Kapernick as your corporate spokesperson. Today I went through my closet and I am throwing away every single Nike item I own. I have 5 pair of shoes, 12 golf shirts, a couple of t-shirts and a light jacket. The jacket was one of my all time favorite jackets...but I will never purchase or ever wear another Nike product as long as I live. I'm a disabled veteran and your spokesperson represents to me and my friends everything that is wrong with people in this country. This guy is a spoiled brat, that got paid millions for throwing a stupid football...and then he threw it all away because of his hate for the country that afforded him so much. And the people that made that possible were people like me that actually sacrificed something. Your buddy NEVER sacrificed anything but the "too much money he was being paid for being a marginal player and of course, an idiot"! I hope your decision to use him causes you company to go bankrupt. Move out of this country - you nor Kapernick deserve to be here. You have no idea what sacrifice is. If you did - you would have chosen a disable, VETERAN to represent you. You guys don't get it. Please go away, please go bankrupt, YOU ARE AS DISGUSTING OF A CORPORATE ENTITY AS ONE CAN BE~~~~
If you're going to ditch your stuff, donate it. Don't be a jerk and just throw it away.
Will never buy NIKE again. Colin sacrificed nothing. Our military men and women sacrifice everything. He only took the knee to impress his political girlfriend. All actions have reactions and this one will not be good for NIKE.
I have to preface this with the fact that I am a 72-year-old Caucasian female retired education professional, who has been a Pittsburgh Steelers fan for as long as I can remember. i just watched the "Just Do It" ad that is narrated by Colin Kaepernick and it brought tears to my eyes. The ad was thoughtful, uplifting and extremely well done.
I feel strongly that this young man has been misrepresented and treated abominably by the NFL, the press and the President of the United States. I applaud him for the courage to stand up for his convictions and Nike for their courage to create and run this ad campaign. To both him and you, i wish God speed in all that you do.
colin kaepernick
I am a nationalized citizen of the United States and I feel proud to live in this amazing country which is giving me and my family many privileges and opportunities. It is a disgrace you have hired Colin Kaepernick who stood against the national anthem and encouraged others to do so. For me it is an honor to stand and sing the NATIONAL ANTHEM which shows support for our country and our troops!
We are a family of 8 and have always loved nike products since our boys all play sports. From now on we will absolutely not buy anything from NIKE, there are MANY other comparable brands just as good as Nike.
OUR FAMILY will not wear any NIKE apparel, and believe me, we have a lot of things that will be destroyed.
I am really sadden and I do hope you remove your ad with Kaepernick whom is a disgrace to the United States.
Sincerely,
Monica Eldred
Mr Mark Parker,
I have had and purchased Nike shoes and products since I was in middle school in the early 80's. I have also been purchasing them for my daughter for Tee-ball and other sports she plays. As of your decision to have Colin Kaepernick as your Ad campaigner I will never purchase another Nike product again! I think it is a disgrace to our men & women who have fought and died for our country and our heroes in blue. To kneel in protest during the national anthem. I know and realize that our country isn't perfect and that people have the right to protest if they choose to do so. During the national anthem is NOT the time to do it though. If people want to protest, there are other ways to do it than by disrespecting the men & women that serve our country. I think it is a TOTAL disgrace to our country and the men and women who fight for our freedoms to have him as YOUR ad spokesperson.
"Never buy Nike"
I served my country and take offense that Nike is shoving Colin Kaepernick attention circus show in my face. You can re brand his antics as much as you want. The Protest I can do is not buy your product. I usually spend $500 to $700 on school shopping. This year I purchased non Nike Products. I bet in any given year I will drop $4, 000 to $5, 000 on Nike products. Guess what? No Longer. I'm also going to do my best to convince my service friends to do the same and I have a large circle of veteran friends. I like Jim Bourne's comment... "Never buy NIKE" sounds like a great movement.
We have wasted enough of our time and emotion on NIKE and their supposed hero. God Bless America, what it stands for and it's real heroes. Never buy NIKE and have a wonderful day.
Monica God Bless you. Do you notice that all who commented negatively need to use vulgar words. It says something about them and unfortunately our country. My dad jumped behind enemy lines on D Day. He was in charge of 62 men. When it was all over 50 of those men either were dead or did not come home in one. piece. I will never dishonor them by taking a knee like one idiot did to impress his girlfriend. I, like you, will never buy another Nike product again and neither will 95% of those I know.
I second Jim Bourne's comment. It's amazing how the liberals in this country like Russ and Ah have to belittle people and make such negative, personal comments. American is better than Kaepernick and his band of un-Americans and it's amazing how many people have responded with they are not going to purchase Nike products anymore. We live in a great country - but not because of people like Kaepernick and Nike!
Not sure people saw this post by the National Association of Police Organizations for the USA. This I think puts it all in perspective. Our Police persons are the heroes of this country - not these million dollar [censored]s athletes!

Re: Colin Kaepernick and Nike’s “Just Do It” Campaign
Dear Chairman Parker,
On behalf of the more than 241, 000 law enforcement officers represented by our Association across the country, I write to you to condemn in the strongest possible terms your selection of Colin Kaepernick for Nike’s “Just Do It” ad campaign. Mr. Kaepernick is known, not as a successful athlete, but as a shallow dilettante seeking to gain notoriety by disrespecting the flag for which so many Americans have fought and died. The inclusion of Mr. Kaepernick in Nike’s “Just Do It” ad campaign also perpetuates the falsehood that police are racist and aiming to use force against African Americans and persons of color.
In reality, officers across the nation risk their lives not only protecting the athletes featured in Nike’s various campaigns, but also serve aspiring athletes across the country who use the Nike brand, through the thousands of Police Athletic Leagues, Boys and Girls Clubs and Big Brother/Big Sister programs where our officers donate their time and energy. They deserve to have the respect and full support of corporate citizens like Nike. Adding to the insult is the image of Mr. Kaepernick from the campaign featuring the quote “Believe in something. Even if it means sacrificing everything.” The fact that Mr. Kaepernick is no longer a starting NFL player does not equate to him being someone who has “sacrificed everything”.
To truly understand what it means to “believe in something” and “sacrifice everything”, you should look to Arlington National Cemetery, or to the National Law Enforcement Officers’ Memorial in Washington, D.C., or to the trauma unit of a military hospital. The brave men and women of every race and color buried there, memorialized there, healing there, believed in this nation and our flag and exemplify the true meaning of “sacrifice”.
In featuring Mr. Kaepernick in the “Just Do It” campaign, Nike grossly insults the men and women who really do make sacrifices for the sake of our nation. We are calling on all our member officers, their families and friends to join in boycotting all Nike products.
Sincerely,
Michael McHale

I agree that protesting is a form of expression and covered under the 1st Amendment. However, that Amendment has limitations under certain circumstances. Employers can control, and even demand certain behavior in the workplace. In the case of Kaepernick, both the SF 49'ers and NFL as the entity that oversess it's member teams could have and should have limited Kaepernick and other protesters on what they were doing in the workplace - inside the stadium where they "work". Kaepernick and all his thugs could have protested outside the stadium all they want...and please note NOT one of them ever did that.
If you had any knowledge of Constitutional Law you would understand this. In essence, none of us have carte blanche freedom to expressing anything and everything we want. In Dixon v. Coburg Dairy, Inc., No. 02-1266, 4th Cir., 2003 and which has been upheld, the employer can require an employee to limit certain things they can do in their freedom of expression. I believe the 49'ers and the NFL failed in exercising their "Constitutional" right to limit what I felt was a stupid and insensitive protest. As a disabled Vietnam Veteran I gave up a lot so people can have the freedoms they have. But don't abuse those freedoms and show some respect to the Flag and our National Anthem.
That flag and national anthem has never hurt anyone!
I have a right to my opinion and you certainly can call me all the names you want. We are either a nation of laws are we have anarchy. I choose the path of following laws so we can maintain some civility in our society. Unfortunately, you simply have not done your home work, or you are incapable of understanding Constitutional Law. You are like all too many people out there that believe Freedom of Speech (protest, expression) is unlimited. Not so - look at all the people in this country that get arrested each year for protesting...and the law is on the side of the individual governments that are doing the arresting.
You need to go back and take a remedial course in civics...then write anything and everything you like. But do it with some semblance of intelligence and knowledge.
Russ - You simply don't understand the concept of FREE SPEECH. An employer can require you to act in a certain way while you are on their property. If you do not want to act that way or in this case speak, demonstrate in a certain way, they can fire you. That is NOT against the law. Kaepernick, and all the other idiots in the NFL that are protesting are certainly free to protest "outside the work place - meaning outside the stadiums the play (work) in"; but once inside the stadium the owners and NFL can demand they act in a certain manner. Kaepernick and his band of thugs in the NFL can protesting anything they want - but it shouldn't be allowed on National TV. As a disabled Vietnam Veteran I find these players simply disgusting. They never sacrificed ANYTHING to what I have witnessed. So I no longer watch the NFL and I will not support a company that elects to have this idiot Kaepernick as their spokesperson. Actually I think the ad is really good...except for the choice of Kaepernick. Why not pick a REAL HERO who has sacrificed everything - a disable Vet who can't walk anymore, can't write, etc. Those are the REAL heroes in our society - no the POS Nike picked. Ask yourself this - if this was such a serious issue where are all these GREAT Americans (not) during the off - season, why don't we see them protesting then?
Ur dumb a**., you're right protest is freedom of speech. I'm going to protest against you and just f*** off. No respect
You should educate yourself. This is the USA. You ever heard of free speech? You, my friend are not being an American.
Do you even know why the players are kneeling?
I bet you voted for the Orange Cheeto that is currently our illegitimate president.
You ignorant person and that how it is "a free country" that's right people died for it. It's called respect if you have a problem then pray to ever f****** God that you believe in or write it in a f****** Journal I'm sure he's suffering from the million-dollar contract that he got that year.
political endorsement advertising
Dear Nike,
You have been my favorite athletic company for over 40 years. I remember the first pair of Nike's that I ever owned (blue suede bruins). I am deeply saddened and angered over your decision to endorse political statements in your advertisement. What ever happened to" just do it" for the love of health and fitness. You have made a choice in the direction that you want to take your company, and I have a choice in the products that I buy. I will no longer support your company, and I will encourage everyone I know not to support Nike.
A disheartened former lifetime loyal customer
Timothy Johnson
endorsement choice
I have only purchased Nike shoes for my daughters over the past 5 years and now you are making me tell them that I can no longer purchase anymore Nike shoes for them as long as you support Colin Kaepernick. In my opinion, it does not matter what the subject matter is, you do not disrespect the flag. I can't in good conscience support a company that endorses anyone that disrespects the flag, our troops or our brave police officers. As a good American, I can no longer support your brand. You may have encouraged the millennials to buy a couple of shoes, but you didn't realized that most of the millennials have shoes bought for them by parents who do not support what this individual stands for. If I can give up the NFL and Budweiser, I can definitely give up Nike. Good luck to you in the future. I look forward to seeing your stock plummet.
your latest commercial
I know you guys don't care but I and my family will never ever (at least as long as I can control it) purchase another Nike product! And that's a promise! You have added to the cancer that's tearing America apart! My your company go down in flames! The only reason you choose to air your hero's commercial is for the publicity. Even bad publicity is good right? I hope you sleep well at night putting a has-been quarterback that used this motive to cover up his declined career as a hero to look up to. I'm certain that our military people appreciate your stupidity.
marketing ad with colin kaepernick
We have been foot and clothing wear Nike customers for 40+ years for our varied athletic activities, for ourselves and our son and daughter's athletics.
We are appalled that Nike would use Mr. Kaepernick in the context being presented. If a successful, notable athlete were desired, it would simply have been a MUCH better approach to use someone like Pat Tillman, wouldn't it? ...Especially when using the phrases of "Believe in something. Even it means losing everything!"...
You have made an egregious mistake for your company and brand, for attempting to edify a player who disrespects things America stands for... Shameful...
We and our athletic family will not purchase another Nike item, period. Marv, MSG, USAR(RET), and Karen Anderson. 2425 Forest Primeval Rd, St Germain, Wi.
Nathan Hale, Abraham Lincoln, John Kennedy, Martin Luther King and Pat Tillman. They sacrificed everything. Will never buy NIKE again.
Any business who chooses an unpatriotic malcontent who used this stunt to save his career does not deserve any business from Americans. Kaepernick has sacrificed nothing compaired to my fellow veterans who gave all, including their lives in some cases. This they did to serve their country which they love. The National Anthem the our glorious flag mean everything to proud Americans and its should be respected by all who live within our borders for the freedom and opportunities this country gives them. You should have used Pat Tillman in your ad. A fine athlete who did sacrifice everything! I have purchased Nike products for over 40 years. My family will no longer purchase any of your products as we do not support companies that supports hate - and that is what Kaepernick represents.
Karen J. Ford
Please make a commercial and have colin kneel for his righteous cause only to jump back up in sign of respect... he needs to be a role model to future generations. Please show them his brain fart ostracized the country and, especially the people who really believed in something and, really lost everything by the lost of life. Also, I was recently released from a mental hospital and, very upset at "crazy" This man respects noone. I have loved nike and will boycott until they showcase the rehabilitation of this vigilante! There were many nike products at the thrift store...

ad campaign
I have been a loyal Nike consumer for many years. My husband and I, as well as our three children that are very active in sports. You have always selected successful athletes and are great role models for everyone. Your recent ad campaign has forced me to decide between your brand and my country. Since I am from a very large military family, that are PROUD to be Americans and have served this great country, I am writing to inform you that I will no longer shop your brand. Our sales may be a drop in your exceptionally large bucket, but true Americans will always put their country first.
In addition, I (and will request that everyone I know) will file a complaint with every retailer that carries your brand until they remove your disgraced product from their shelves.
Sincerely,
Dawn Miller

I am very sad to hear about your decision to use someone who disrespects our flag, country, and service members to advertise your products. Nike has been a name we have known in our household for decades. Every time we started our first day of school, we wore our new school shoes, they were our Nikes. So many times as a teen we saved up to buy a new Nike gym bag or new sweatshirt. My brothers adored their Jordan's they asked for at Christmastime. Nike is no longer a brand we will be buying, or having around this house ever again. Into the garbage it all goes as of today. You care so little for those who have been faithful customers, and want to be controversial and trendy. Such a disappointment. The end of an era. Sad.
colin kaepernick
I am so disappointed that Colin Kaepernick is the face of Nike. He disrespects our country, insults the people of Cuba, and vilifies the brave men and women of our police department. He was a mediocre football player, and used the offensive gesture of kneeling before our flag to become relevant. A number of people can be fooled because they are uninformed. I guess you just proved the old saying, "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups." Shame on you!
colin kaepernick nike ad
I wanted to let the decision makers at Nike know how disappointed I am in their decision to promote an individual that has complete disregard for this great country. I am a Marine veteran with two combat deployments that is absolutely disgusted that Nike has condoned and supports Kaepernicks behavior. I also wanted to share that I will no longer be purchasing and will discourage anyone that I can to reframe from buying any Nike products in the future.
colin kaepernick
As a historical consumer of Nike products, I wanted Nike's leadership to know that I will no longer purchase Nike products. I feel very strongly that a founding principle of our Nation is that everyone has a right to state their opinion and be heard and that right should be protected and available to every citizen without regard to their race, religion, or any other feature.
I disagree with Colin's approach to protest but respect his right to excersie his right. I am exceeding my right to no longer economically support Nike and as a shareholder stewards, you should be aware of that decision
the protests against nike
I see several people protesting Nike because of Colin. I know all of them are white. I think that he has a right not to kneel. I do not see no one protesting the confederate flag. I guess it easy for them to call out Colin. Remember it was the blacks that was slaves and owned by Whites. America still have a long way to go. I was a nurse for over 40 years and you would be surprised how many of the old white people would let the white CNA walk out the room and ask me the RN to empty the bed pan. This is still not the land of the free for Blacks. So, I would like to tell all of you whites that are so upset about some darn shoes, how come you were not upset when Emmet Teal an innocent teenager was murdered because an old lying white woman lied an said he wa whistled at her How come you were not upset when Dr. King was murdered for no reason at all. How come you were not upset when Evers was murdered in Jackson. I bet you were never awakened in the middle of the night like I was with a huge cross burning in your yard. Get over it America suppose to be the land of the free.
Seriously? You think this has anything to do with race?! Of course you do because you play that card at every turn. Let us be clear: THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE COLOR OF ANYONE'S SKIN! Anyone--and I mean ANYONE--who behaves as that [censored] has done (and NO, I shall not glorify him by using his name), ., ...anyone who disrespects our flag and our anthem in that regard--regardless of race or gender...then, I--along with countless others have dodged bullets defending--shall experience our wrath. PUULEASE...STOP with the race card because it is NOT that.

I am extremely upset with your choice of Kaepernick to represent Nike shoes. I am a loyalist and I have supported many different brands for at least the last 25 years. Nike used to be one of those. I will no longer be purchasing your shoes . There are many other shoe brands out there. It hurts for me to do this. I have always liked your sneakers. This has turned political. Football was made to be a relaxing way for many people to enjoy a sport. Kaepernick picked the wrong platform to get his point across. Thank you for your time.
nike
Nike you have made a horrible choice in the football player Colin for one of your representatives, a disrespectful Rebel who will not show respect to our country I have seven grandchildren neither I or any other parents will ever buy Nike products for them even though we used to, and we will tell our friends why we are not buying products from Nike anymore, very sad day when you can't pick someone honorable
abandoning american loyalty - if your not with us...
Thank you for pushing your political agenda by appointing a coward to represent your company. Coward? Let him serve in any capacity (Police, Fire, Military) first, then see if the knee makes sense. The only thing he is qualified to represent is kneepads.
Just Do it! This is what we will be doing...
We will be banning Nike in family circles as well as military friends and family.
Shoes have already been destroyed.

Babe: Kaepernick is using the wrong way to lodge his protest. Our flag is not a symbol that represents a belief system that espouses brutality against minorities, but a symbol of our shared values that are enshrined in our constitution and other laws that protect all equally. His chosen method of protest strikes another blow at our national unity and belief in our shared values. Do you want a nation, or not?
So you're more upset about someone protesting police brutality against minorities than the abuse of power itself? Adorable.
