This company is phoning our home 4-5 times per week in an attempt to collect a debt we do not owe. Have asked them to mail documentation to us at our home address proving what we owe for, how much, and to whom and we would review it and get back to them. They continue to call and have never sent us anything in the mail.

This company contacted my residence. The representatives name was Sherod and he was very rude and abusive. When we requested him to give the name of his company, he refused. When we asked to speak with his supervisor, he refused stating that his supervisor was not willing to speak with us. This companies consumer practices are very rude and insulting. I consider this harrassment and something needs to be done to protect the consumers from this company. Those who have complaints similar to mine may wish to issue a complaint with the better business bureau. This company show to have a good rating with the BBB, however a few complaints could quickly change this.

I used to work for a sister company of theirs called IGS, out here in Vegas. If anyone would like a full disclosure of the practices they teach, and encourage, in their training, please feel free to email me. MaryBertling@yahoo.com

Call your attorney general to make a complaint so this company will have to follow the law.Find your state statutes here:

http://www.attorneysforconsumers.com/state-debt-collection-laws.html

Find your state attorney general here:

http://www.naag.org/attorneys_general.php

Your attorney general can make them stop illegally abusing not only YOU, but others like you: elderly people they like to intimidate, single mothers, veterans, anyone. Even when you owe a debt, there are laws they have to follow, and this company does not follow them. Report abuses to your attorney general!

I get phone calls from different phone numbers and area codes and they are all Portfolio Recovery Assocs. I had been answering these calls until I got to know the numbers. They claim I bought a cell phone from some unknown company called United cell or something like that in Florida. I told them I could not have and asked for proof that I did this. They said they would not supply proof as I had a copy of my signed contract. I told them I have no signed contract because I never purchased any cell phone from this company. So round and round we go. I will never pay this supposed debt because I do not owe anything to this fraudulent company. so if you do not recognize a phone number from out of state with area codes 205, 620, 731, 757 and even an 800 #, do not answer it. they will hound you forever even for someone else's debt.

They are trying to get me to pay a credit card bill in which I was secondary cardholder and my father was primary card holder. My father died in 2006. My sister had my mom take out a mortguage on the house. Before we could get the loan from the mortguage company we had to pay off all our debts. We paid them off in 2009 including the entire card of which I as secondary cardholder had charged $2000. First of all I never made enough money to qualify for a credit card and I never could hold a job for more than 3 weeks for the entire 46 years that I have been on this earth as I am mentally disabled. I as secondary cardholder am not resposible for payment. The card was issued to my father. I don't owe this debt. The card has been paid in full, and I have all the proof of payment. Good luck to these criminals that are trying to squeeze blood out of a turnup. I can't work, am on welfare, and don't have anything to do except dog cuss them everytime they call. I'll be waiting. LET EM CALL! They're just blowing smoke up a mule's ### and are gonna get kicked. My friends have notified the DA's office and my Dad worked for DOD for thirty years and coached amateur sports, so I have some contacts in different sphere's of influence. Portfolio Recovery has been calling my Mom for a couple of years. She's mentally ill too and loves to chat with them about her childhood 60 years ago. My main mission is to protect my mother. I watch her 24/7. Then I have someone who watches and protects me. This company will never get any money from me. They sent a letter saying that my Mom authorized aotomatic deductions from her credit union account. This was a lie. My Mom nor anyone else around here even knows their ctedit union account number. Portfolio wanted to know how they got the number. I told for them to tell me and we'd both know. The transaction never went thru. They said we gave them the wrong number and they tried to get my 70-year old mentally ill mother to give them the number. She just laughed and babbled some crazy story that happened in Arkansas 60 years ago. I assume they are lying about the automatic deduction attempt. They were actually going to steal from a little ol mentally ill lady. Even Al Capone never would have done this. They aren't worthy to lick Al's feet. They are just a buch of degenerate, low-life wannabees. It's just a matter of time before the Justice Department shuts them down. No telling how much they have extorted. They are ripe for the plucking. A good lawyer or the government should sue them. Anyway don't pay them anything. They just go back and look for old financial records of transactions that have been paid, and since most people don't keep records that long, they try to fool people into thinking that they owe money. Just an old scam. I think O'Bama could step in and tell them "The party's over" then fine them for breaking the laws.

Just received a third phone call today from portfolio recovery associates, tenth call for this month. I have repeatedly told the caller that she/he has a wrong number and that I owe nothing but they are insistent on collecting a debt. Other than blocking their number, what can I do to stop these harrassing phone calls?

Just received a third phone call today from Portfolio Recovery Associates who insisted that I owe a debt. This is the eleventh call for the month of August alone. I have constantly told them that I don't owe anything and have never held a credit card from the organization from whom they are collecting. They are not particular about the name they are trying to contact, but just the phone number. Today's caller was Roaldan Reyes, [protected] or [protected] who said that he was calling from Norfolk, VA, and the call was being recorded. I have asked Portfolio Recovery Associates representatives to stop calling my phone number only to be told that they will continue until I pay. What can I do to stop this harrassment?

Employees at Portfolio Recovery Associates earn a yearly salary starting around $25, 000 plus commission on each payment received. These debt collectors become very money hungry and after every cent they can make. There have been many lawsuits filed against PRA surrounding harassment and breaking FDCPA laws. http://www.castlelaw.net/blog/are-you-receiving-harassing-calls-from-portfolio-recovery-associates-.cfm
