Similar complaint than Jeff.
The company called my home phone to inform me that I had been selected and won 100, 000 Aeroplan* points for a vacation, to accept dial "1" and transfert to receptionist who ask me to confirm that I was over the age of 18 and had a valid credit card to check in to a resort (this is where I started to get suspicious!). I was transferred to "Brigit" who wanted to detail me a "special offer" but stop her, declined it and hang up.

Even if I shortened the communication, this was still a waste of my time (on the phone for 15 mins, lots of "On Hold"). As indicated by Jeff, you cannot email them any questions or complaint (parts of website are disabled). States in their Privacy policy that you can put your questions and concerns in writing and email them on the website but where?

I am so torn about these marketing scams. I've just hung up on the same call...although I was very tempted to go for it. The reason for my dilemna is that I've been on one of these marketing trips before and had a really good experience. Unfortunately, with so many scams out there, it is hard to decipher between "real" marketing initiatives and all out scams. In the trip I got...I paid a certain amount (about $500 at the time) to reserve rooms for 2 people at 2 hotels in Daytonna and Orlando as well as a Bahamas cruise. I paid for my flight and incidentals...and had to sit down for a couple of hours to hear the sales pitch for a time share resort in Orlando...but I went into it with eyes wide open...and still got a great deal on the trip. The hotels were first class and really enjoyed myself. But how do you really know if it's a scam (you pay money but get nothing!). I've searched through many sites about this particular marketing initiatives and there are tons of complaints...but mostly around hidden fees and trouble with cancellations. Haven't found any examples of people NOT getting anything for their deposit...but also haven't found any examples of people that have gone on these trips either! My opinion...don't label it a SCAM just yet. A marketing initiative (even though they can be shrude and somewhat manipulative) still will provide some value for your money. A scam will simply take your money and run and not provide you with anything. Food for thought!

Thanks Choloepus. I'm glad you had a good time. I just got off the phone with the same company I'm still nervous because I paid and am worried about it. I guess I'll just have to go and see for myself. :|

I've received many phone calls from this outfit - they won't stop! This is definitely a scam - they initially pitch you with "free" stuff and then try to sell you something. If you really want the "free" timeshare accommodation, just call the timeshare resort and ask to get a complimentary stay. As long as you're willing to sit thru the timeshare presentation, you can get free nights at the timeshare. And it won't cost you anything!

Sorry about the previous posting - looks like Google Chrome messed up the special characters.

If you call the [protected] number, you will actually get an answer. Although they are courteous, they are still breaking the law in Canada - I am on a do-not-call list, and they still call. They are not concerned because they are located in Cancun. I suggest using the same approach that I use with telemarketing companies that continue to call after I tell them to go away - I set up my Windows Fax service to send a fax message to them asking them to stop, then I program my computer to redial every 10 minutes until it can complete the fax, and then I direct it to call the main switchboard of the offending company. In this case I set it to the 866 number, since someone answers. If you do that, they will get a fax tone in their ear every 10 minutes all day long. And it will cost them money since they are paying for the 866 call. Doesn't take me too long to set up, and makes me feel a lot better.

I actually have done some research on this company as I am in the business of call centres (on the legal side) and there were certain things said during the conversation that appeared strange to me. They are infact located in San Jose, not Cancun, this would explain all the southern state accents. They would not provide identifying information nor does there website work. Infact, it redirects to a page that also never works. When the females I spoke to, Tina and Leona, realized I had no interest other than to lodge a complaint through the CRTC (they were also unaware of Canadian telemarketing laws, nor interested), they became abusive and profane. They disconnected the call. Hardly the work of professionals. They are looking for a quick buck, so PLEASE do not give them your credit card number!

Premier Cancun Vacations. Complete Scam.

I got an automated call claiming I'd won a free vacation and was transferred to an agent. At the end of a forty minute conversation I was conned out of $600.

When I made reservations to follow up on this "deal" I was then informed there would be a $200 reservation fee.

I was put under the false impression that the vacation package was an all inclusive one. This was clarified for me when I attempted the reservation. All this extra cost would've added up to another $500 per person so I asked for my money back.

They made me sign and fax a disclaimer and I got half my money back.

I can't believe I fell for this ###.

I was called on my cell phone stating I won 100, 000 Aroplan points and to press 1. Then I got involved in a very lengthy conversation with one woman who was trying to tell me I could cash these points in for a trip to Cancun for 2 people, 18 yrs +, and I must have a valid credit card. I was very hesitant during this entire process asking plenty of questions including: "This is all inclusive for $349?" A: "yes mame" I also told them I could not afford the two trips at this time as I was going to Ireland, so another lady (Manager) got on giving me only half the trip for half the cost. UNBELIEVEALBE deal...right? Not so fast. I was getting concerned as I didn't receive my information for over two weeks and was calling the company to inquire and express my concern of the validity of this trip. Since that time I talked to my parents who were on a similar free trip experience and ended up paying $800 out of pocket! I have now spoken to Alberto Mendoza who I requested to review the tape as I wrote down what the lady said "that it was ALL INCLUSIVE" and he's saying yesterday, "no, $349 is Accommodation only, if you want all inclusive it is $799" but today when he called back stating he reviewed the tape and the sales lady stated it was for Accommodation only therefore they cannot assist me, but if you want you can upgrade to All Inclusive for $899! Now I'm very upset because to off set what I've already paid I would have to pay an additional $550 if I want a decent trip :(
I'm going to call them back and get this disclaimer faxed to me so I can get half my money back too.

I actually work for this company, and indeed, we are in Cancun, and the vacations are 100 percent real. Being that I work here, I receive many people that have taken the trip, and all seem pleased with the vacation package. Someone above stated that we work out of San Jose, which is completly untrue, I have lived here in Cancun for 18 years and I am quite sure where I am! Yes, there are a lot of scams out there, but Canuncalling is not one of them. Get your fax straight people!

Kimberly H. - your company is the most irritating telemarketer out there ( and they are all annoying). I receive calls from you on my home phone, my cell phone and my business phone. When I have the time, I press 1 and get one of your agents to go through the spiel with absolutely no intent of giving you my credit card number. I am just wasting your time. I like G2 in Toronto's idea of setting up my fax machine to call your 866 number and think that I will start doing that every time I receive one of your calls. If more people did these two things, maybe your company would stop pestering everyone with these phone calls.

Kimberly H. - Get /your/ facts straight. No one is claiming that your company is not real. In fact, it is a very real Pain In The ###. I have been waiting to get another call from you just so that I can waste your time just as InCanada does - unfortunately, I've not been so "lucky" yet.. I guess you check people off a "screwed" list and not call them back. Wankers.

These people call my office number on a regular basis. Every time, I ask to be removed from their phone list. I have made several complaints to the CRTC and have spoken to a CRTC rep, but there is nothing they can do. The cancuncalling.com website (which does not work) does indeed show a phone number - [protected], and someone answers when you call. I hung up after I had determined the number worked, and they called me back within one minute to follow up on the "dropped call". So they paid for 2 phone calls. I too am going to set up my fax machine to call them repeatedly, and I'm also going to call their 1-866 number and then blow a loud soccer referee's whistle down the phone when they answer. It won't stop their calls to me but it will cost them money, it will inconvenience them and it will irritate them.

scam scam scam...
I asked the name of the owner of the company, right at the outset of the call and the "agent" stumbled then told me that they are owned by SUNSET RESORTS. Upon googling this, I only found a place in Alberta and I hardly think it is the same. I asked the owner of Sunset Resorts and the guy couldn't tell me. I told him that was rather odd.
I then asked if he needed my credit card info. I asked this before he was able to drain precious time out of my day... he tried to say... wait and listen and you will find out.. I replied" it's a YES or NO question... do you require my credit card?" Of course he replied YES and I laughed and hung up! How do people sleep at night ?

I fell for this company's scam..two/three years ago. My husband and I were taking a Pamana cruise from Ft. Lauderdale so the two day Bahama cruise would have been nice. Phoned to book said cruise but even though they say 18 months..told me membership expired...$85.00 for extension...paid ..then minutes later changed my mind...asked them to cancel charges. Oh will tear up invoice they said..Right appeared on my credit card...but that was a big favour as this was illegal. I had to complain to Florida state consumer affairs etc..they were operating out of Miami and travel was for Florida. At that time they had over four thousand complaints pending. Jumped through the hoops, wrote the letters and DID get my $500.00 back. These guys are the same outfit...different name... different locale...same scam. Got the call from them again today...kept her on the line...then laughed and said...sorry been there done that..lucky to have gotten my money back...much wiser woman

I gave these people my credit card information after they lowered my 6 day and 5 night accommodations at one of two motels in Cancun from $698 to $349. They said there are also incidentals such as getting and returning from Cancun and food while there. Also any extra activities where there is a charge but not for free activities. The next communication many days later indicated there would be a $69 reservation fee and $110 fee in hotel taxes when the reservation is made.

I asked for a refund after discovering these waiting extra charges considered by them to be incidental charges. They stated I had already agreed that no refunds could be made when my credit charge was charged - within minutes of their having my information Any charge that amounts to an additional charge of over 50% - $179 on top of $349 is not an incidental charge. These charges are all for being able to stay at a motel in Cancun - not for becoming a travel club member or for any other service provided by Cancun Calling or Premier Cancun Vacations or any other name of the same company they may be using.

They (Ebony) is going to get back to me.

Well. I bought their package and then looked at airfare and couldn't afford THAT at the time. Then airfares went down- past the 2 yr deal- I called, got a very helpful person who assured me I could still use my vacation. I knew there would be extra fees, but didn't ask how much. I've been ripped off more money by people willing to "sell" my timeshare than what i paid for this. They just wanted people to tour their resort and review it. I was reading the reviews just to see if anyone has used it. What I don't understand is why people who think it is a scam stay on the phone, or even answer it at all. My cell shows the number calling, and I simply don't answer. If they leave a message, I'll call back. I'm still stuck with my timeshare.
