do they really care about the worker
Ok, I work for Publix. For nearly 4 years. I am a hard worker. I've worked in five different stores, the store where I'm working at present is the best I've being with. My problem with Publix is most managers can be your best buddies but at the same time they are slowly twisting the knife in your back. I've being denied promotion, only been off sick once. Receive excellent performance reports every six months. I finally had to call Human Resources to get some advice. The problem with this 12 - 13 week bonus, is store managers only look out for themselves. Do they really care about the worker, I know they care for their own people (family; friends and other store mangers next of kins) I've worked with a few and all have said the same thing, if it wasn't for the shares and the bonus money, they would never work for Publix. Would like to know other people views.

bad quality food!
I am a caterer and I called publix to order 3 whole beef tenderloins. The woman who answered asked me did I want her to do anything to the meat and I said no, I wanted to trim and cut myself because I was serving 40 people. My partner called and payed for the meat over the phone and spoke to preston. My partner said to leave the credit card open in case I needed any other idems for the party, I did. The staff treated me like I was a crook and approached me in the produce dep.in front of other customers demanded to see my receipt for the meat (Which was paid for), long story short... I picked the meat up at about 8 in the evening. I had to sear it that night because the party was the next afternoon. When I was searing it was about 10. Before I started I opened all 3 cryovac tenderloins and noticed I had 6 of the same half of the loin. It was to late to complain it or to change my routine. I was so embarrassed to serve the end of the loin that separates. Where was the other half I requested to be whole? I feel taken advantage of. I could go anywhere for groceries (Sams etc.) publix is my favorite store even though your prices are higher I was usually satisfied with quality until now!
damn i totaly understand what you mean and the food
down here is relie ### if you ask me but whatever eat
that beef an stay up on ur box homo bro
I totally am dissatisfied with the PUBLIX SUPERMARKET in Atlanta, Ga HOWELL MILL ROAD LOCATION.
BOB WOODS IS THE MANAGER AND HE IS A RACIST! HE EVEN HAS HIS AFRICAN AMERICAN EMPLOYEE racist against there own race. I feel as thought they follow the customers around especially african americans. I had an issue with an item I purchased and he went off saying I was lying about the quality of the merchadise. He is a fat awful red-neck MF. I also have an issue with Ivy Walker she is an arrogant B___h.
I am dissatisfied with Publix because of employee relations. Several employees that I know personally were fired within months of getting their 5 year bonus check. And are harassed and punished or suspended for little or no reason. This is unfair employee relations in a country were 80000 people are forced off their jobs every year because of a poor economy. For this reason unless otherwise informed I am canceling 49 years of patronage immediately
sour milk!
I bought milk which has gone bad before exp. date. It happened three times. From now on I will never buy milk at Publix...

Both my wife and I (and several of our neighbors) have complained to the store manager of the Jacksonville Beach - Publix Supermarket about the foul smelling fish department. We made these complaints over the last year. Each time the managers told us they were aware of the situation, and they planned to remodel the store to correct the smell.
The problem is growing worse. We now observe shoppers avoiding the general area of the department, which means that many can no longer shop in the meat department, and in several rows of canned goods.
If the fish cases are so obsolete that they cannot be cleaned, shouldn't they be taken out of service? We think the public is being endangered and certainly offended.
radiation therapy for a prostate cancer patient!
Company is self insured and administered by BCBS of Georgia. BCBS has refused payment for radiation therapy for a prostate cancer patient. Their excuse is that the treatment is not FDA approved. This is not true because it is covered by Meducare. They consistently pay network providers as out of network. Some claims are refused the same day they are submitted. I have contacted the HR dept of Publix, they sent the letter to the benefits dept. Which netted the same result.
PS: The treatment center that administered the therapy, Inter Community Cancer Centers, was aware of the problem before treatment began but did not inform me until we were well into it. Had I known of the problem I could have sought out alternative treatment. Object lesson--- don't trust anyone!
Before we moved a year ago we used to go to the store in Riverdale Ga. We stopped because there is an Asian looking lady in the meat deli who would come gather our food with a mouth full of food, eating with food falling out. We complained to the Manager (a young white guy) who went and spoke to her. Another worker said she has had many complaints.
Yesterday I just so happened to be in Riverdale and decided to stop to get some hot food. The same lady came opened her mouth wide to say hi and I saw her chewed food up again and decided to just walk away. I called and spoke to an acting manager name Weslyn who said she would talk to her, I told her that they have done that before and asked for the manager, She said she will tell Thomas Jordan in the morning, but since this has been reported before, I decided to write you instead.

poor service, check out etc.
The last 3 times I have gone into Publix to pickup a few items, the check out lines were ridiculously long. Tuesday night topped it all. There was 9 people with groceries in the 10 Items or less "speed lane". When the store mgr. finally got on the PA system for the second time, the line shortened to 5 people. Add this to the nonexistent service at the Deli...

My son is having the same problem when ask why he wasn’t getting a full time position they claim they waiting on a manager then come some more problems about he works to much but my son says it’s a lot of associates that have full time that constantly calls out or a no show
I've contacted every Publix site on the net (and emailed Corporate), but still can't get a direct answer about breaks. Can anyone tell me definitively if it is Publix policy to not give their employees regular breaks? My wife gets one hour for lunch (usually just an hour or two after starting) then not a single break for the rest of the day, not even a bathroom break. We're talking 5 to 6 hours on her feet with no bathroom break! Is this policy?
I know what it is to work for great companies; Cracker Barrel, JC Penny, among others. I can say, with much confidence, that Publix is NOT one of them. I can agree with every negative thing said about them in all the other comments above. If you want to feel like an indentured slave then, by all means, work for Publix.
What...what...what?🤷🏻♀️ Some of these comments are really off the wall. I was taught ...if you don’t like where you work ...or what you need to do for a paycheck...then move on or suck it up buttercup. Come on ppl... seriously..who enjoys having to put your black pants 👖 on and driving 🚙or walking 🚶🏼♂️to work to be that miserable...move on if you’re 😨unhappy.
I’ve been working for Publix for a year now... been through managers and assistant managers in my short time there...I have not felt any of the craziness that some of you have put out there. We have a wonderful team all around and hope I can hang on and continue to serve the fantastic customers that walk thru our doors. Peace ✌️ out ...have a great day😉
Just got fired. Work 5 yrs for publix. As a pharmacist and a salary employee who does not get breaks. I eat in the pharmacy. one day I ordered food next door to the store. I left for 5 min to get my food. I did not realize I could not leave the premises. No reprimand or write up but a cruel firing. I was told I could try to appeal it. working on that right now. Feel firing was harsh. No prior write ups
I just retired from publix after 22 years! I worked at 12 different stores. I will have to admit I learned a lot from them and getting to work at four or five in the morning is easy and will prepare me for my next life in the military! however publix is very political and cliquish! you don't need to tell me that's everywhere, yes i'm very aware of that but publix managers and especially the district managers promote their favorites! to get promoted has nothing to do with hard work or what you can bring to the table, for them it has all to do with who you know, who you sleep with, who you immorally interact with outside the workplace, like playing golf with your dm. publix is also full of [censor] starters! I worked for the company for a long time and to make the decision I made had a lot to do with the very large gray area publix has... hint-hint, notice all these big-wigs retiring that could have easily stayed another ten or fifteen years if they wanted to and build their retirement but are ditching out now? one of the many reasons I left the company, that tells me to get out now! while the gettings good!
Where to shop in florida for goods? i'm seeing more stores, thinking how publix is just one food chain here in florida. they have a strong hold.. after having witnessing bad inhuman things happen at publix, re dating of pre made packages of product, dry old chicken, managers rude with no people skills, sub table area dirty, running out of bread, prices keep goin up.. workers never look happy.. i'm sick of them. they hide behind the pubilc eye, make workers believe they own a piece,.. then you hear publix on the news about the good publix has done,... unreal. when in the meantime managers, stole time, bully there workers, treat older workers like chap ride them til they quit, cause since older workers have more time put in they cost more to keep them.. I don't see many workers over 6 years of service.. publix are like everywhere, people don't have anywhere else to shop.. if this was a northern state ok publix would never last.. with lawsuits going on right now about managers bullying gay workers,. and managers case action lawsuit about chinese overtime.. publix maybe a huge co., but the way kash n karry, food lion, winn dixie, albertsons, and many other chains that folded over publix days are numbered... I would love to see safeway down here..
Publix needs to be reported to the ADA and the Labor Board for mistreatment of people with disabilities!
Amen.
I work in a store in Miami and i do all the work a cashier should do(register, leveling, go backs etc.)right next to me is this ### that does nothing and i mean nothing but basically gets all the credit for my work because he kisses the boss's *** i complain and all i get is "oh the boss likes him" to the point i end up yelling at people who give him credit for anything when i work and i get in trouble for blowing my lid...i feel like i should just ignore him but he is really slowing down my ability to get promoted...if he gets promoted before me because he is a better *** kisser than i am a good worker...sigh
The sad thing is that most employees are brainwashed and either this is their first job or just plain dumb. Lots of employees complain but they defend Publix to no-end.
