Radio Shack is an unethical company to work for. They recently fired my husband for an absurd cause. They said that he was "caught stealing, " yet there is no proof of this at all! Because a man paid with a fake ID and my husband shook his hand after the transaction, they are saying that he helped the guy steal products for his own personal benefit! Since when does a handshake prove that you are in cahoots with a scam? Typically, he shakes about 50% of the customers' hands because he is great at customer service and is very courteous.

In addition, they proceeded to interrogate him, scare him out of his mind and pressure him into "confessing" even though he didn't do a damn thing. So, they "released" him as one of the corporate higher-ups of the company just so calmly said because they "believe" that he helped this guy steal. If he did "steal" why wouldn't they go to the police? That is what you do when someone steals, correct?

So, after that day, he comes home crying because he lost his job and was nothing but a good worker for Radio Shack. He was an assistant manager and was next in line to be promoted to a manager position. Two days later, we find out from one of the other store managers that they are dropping managers like flies and aren't giving any good reason for doing so. And, on top of that, the manager told him in confidence that Radio Shack is soon to let go of every single full-time employee they have or demote them to part-time in order to cut costs.

Hmm... fishy? Don't you' think? We certainly do. The manager said himself that he believes they fired my husband in the way that they did because they saw that pinning this on him was a good way for them to avoid paying him for unemployment. He filed, and of course, was denied.

He worked with them for the greater part of his professional life and was bending backwards just to get a manger position. Radio Shack doesn't even pay their employees enough money to live comfortably. And, don't be fooled by the "commission" that they say you'll make bundles off of, because you won't. Unless you are in a high traffic area, of course. But he worked in a small town. Therefore, the pay was pathetic.

We aren't sure if we will fight this because we just don't know how to go about doing so. If anyone has ever dealt with a similar situation, please shed light on the situation.

And trust me, I would have known if my husband stole something because I am in charge of handling our finances and balancing our checkbooks.

If you're looking to work with Radio Shack, I recommend you only do so if you're only interested in a temporary position. They are an unethical company and will do whatever they can to save a few bucks. Thankfully, my husband is in the running for a few good paying jobs. Jobs that pay over $10, 000 more in salary than he was making at the crap shack. However, it doesn't take away the hurt of the way he was wronged by radio shack.

They promise a stable career for their employees and only deliver a pile of steaming [censored]. He isn't the only employee that they've treated wrongfully. We've both witnessed many of the part-time employees only being given 3-hrs per week on their schedule and then being fired for lack of performance. How in the world can you meet your sales goals with Radio Shack if you are only working 3-hrs per week and most of that time you have to spend building displays?

They promise health plans after a few months, yet my husband was given the run around for over a year.

And to top it all off, they are unethical in the way they treat their customers. There were a few employees in the store where my husband worked which were allowed to deliberately lie to customers about the specs of a product or what you can use it for only to make a sale. And, when my husband reported these unethical practices, they were dismissed without the other employees even being reprimanded.

We are bitter that they fired him wrongfully, we will admit that. But, who wouldn't be? However, we would never lie about anything this important, so rest assured that all of the information you are reading is indeed factual.

This is not to say that all districts of Radio Shacks treat their employees in this manner; there may be a few gems out there (maybe privately owned franchises). But, for the most part, you will work your ### off for minimum wage, they'll promise you advancement and then drop you like a fly if they feel like doing so. They did it to my husband, and they can do it to you too!

I worked my butt off for this company. I started in 2002 as a seasonal, worked my self up to a manager. I was trained well and was able to catch internal thefts. When j finally became a senior manager in 2010, I had assistant managers promoted and hired employees that are managers today. I became my DM's right hand man and led inventories, and did many duties for him that were on my "own time.". I didn't mind, it was a "step" to success with the company. In 2011, my store was visited by divisional LP to go through my wireless contracts. We were the #1 store in the region in wireless sales. This was supposed to be a lesson in proper procedures, until I admitted to a contract of helping a friend with a credit card over the phone. All of a sudden it turned into why am I breaking policy. 3 days later, I'm out of a job. LP made me write a statement that I had acknowledgement of the wrong doing I did. I really feel my DM did everything he could to save my job, he was a mentor to me. But I was the highest paid manager, and I was also the last manager from the transition that occurred in 2004. The management team I left behind Iade them aware to record every hour and do NOT work on "free time." this company took a lot of family time away from me and I can't get it back!

What in the world is wrong with this company? My son has been an employee there for a year. He worked his tail off and often by himself. He started out as a regular employee part time, quickly moving to full time. He was then asked if he would like to become manager in training. He of course jumped on it and they moved him to a kiosk in the local mall. The DM told him that he would be there 3 months max before she could find him a free standing store. Fine he worked it for 6 months basically by himself 6 plus days a week open to close because he had no help. Finally they tell him one day that there will be kiosk starting tomorrow. In awe he was like what happens to me, do you have a store for me? DM Amber tells him well, I am going to move you to your old store and you will be ASM until I can get you a store. Demoted him down, lowered his pay in half basically and lowered his hours drastically. He sucks it up he has a wife and 3 girls he has no choice, and he loved his job. He goes to his old store where a new manager is working. I should mention this manager was moved from the Mall store to this one for some unknown reason. At any-rate, my son started to notice some shady stuff going on. He kept notes and thought you know I better tell Jim who was the manager. My son brings it to the managers attention via text (because apparently the manager does not know how to talk on the phone he text everything). My son tells him that the phones that he has been selling appear to be fraud accounts and that it is against company policy. It appears that individuals have been coming from out of state and Canada, getting homeless individuals from the shelters bringing them in and having them open accounts with their social security numbers. They then get the limit of 5 IPhone or whatever and sell them to the other people really cheap. The scammer then takes them back to Canada and sells them for more and the accounts are never paid. It also appeared to my son that another manager at another store was giving away expensive products in order to get a phone sale. This of course is theft! When my son brought all the attention to the manager, Jim the manager replied "you are messing with my livelihood and well after careful consideration you are not going in the direction I would like you to as a manager with the company, so I have decided to terminate you". DO WHAT! My son has NEVER been wrote up until he insisted on a write up officially when he was fired. The manager wanted him to just drop his keys off at another store. I told him NO you go into the store and make him do it officially. He had tried to call the DM for 3 days, he called, he text no response. She finally calls him and states you know what Ohio is an at-will state and we can do what we want so you are wasting your time if you get an attorney! She insisted that my son had this in the making and that he had been wrote up on numerous accounts and that his sales sucked! My son had never been wrote up and has been top producer in the region for almost his entire employment with the company. He called Corporate HR and explained what was going on, following chain of command and what does she do Yolanda tells him that she can no longer speak with him. (seriously so your job which is mediate). Another employee who has witness the constant harassment, the fraud, the theft, the discrimination had offered to write a statement. As soon as the manager and the DM found out they called the other employee into their office and threaten him that he would lose his job next. I mean seriously can they do this really? There has got to be a loop hole in this at-will ordeal. My son is a US Marine, who served his time and this is what happens to him for being honest and following company policy. The damn company should be promoting him and not firing him. They are crooks and I wonder if the actual corporate office realizes the theft and fraud that is going on within the walls of their stores? I need an attorney for him, has anyone else had any luck. I am enclosing my email please email me with your comments. elshamy@sbcglobal.net

I worked for RadioShack for two years as a store manager and I was fired two weeks ago without a warning, they told me that I was getting fired for accessories returned after selling a cell phone but we have no control over what people return I'm sure if you work for RadioShack you know what I'm talking about customer change their mind seconds after the transaction is done, and yes loss prevention went and forced me to write down other things making you think that what they are telling you to write its ok so a week later they fired me they just waited for the fall transformation to be done and the day after I was fired . I've been talking to other managers from RadioShack and they can't believe they fired me because of that they told me that they have employee doing fake returns like if a customer buys something then they wait 30 min return it then they resale it against under employee price and keep the difference of the money and that loss prevention knows and that they haven't done anything so know I'm waiting to see If I get unemployment because when they told me to sign my termination papers I didn't sign them because it didn't stay the reason I was being let for for it only said loss prevention, does anybody have any ideas on what can I do I have my unemployment interview tomorrow to question why I was fired please email me thank you badhabitsz@aol.com

I bought radar detector from radioshack on [protected] . About 3 months it started not working right it turns on but would not pick up the cops. I compared it with another one that was a friends and mine would not work. On 11-11-2013 I took it back to Radioshack and talked to assistant manger about making it right replace or money back. He refused to replace it or provide money back, he said that radioshack would replace it. Its sad that big chain store cant fix this simple fix by replacing it to keep the customer happy . I will not buy from radioshack again.beware dont buy from them again.

I'm a college student, so finding a part time job that was flexible enough with my already packed schedule was tough, and RadioShack seemed to be a good opportunity for me. I worked there for almost 2 years, and one week ago from today, around this time, I was fired for theft.

A week or so prior to this, my assistant manager and I were having a casual conversation about the products we had in the store, and I mentioned that if there was anything in the store that I would like to own, it would be "X" (don't exaclty remember...maybe a tablet). My manager listed off a few things as well, but regardless, we were having an innocent, casual conversation.

Our district manager called me to the back room last Monday, which was freezing, and set up a conference call with loss prevention. After an hour of them saying that they had me on VIDEO taking money from the drawer, stealing surround sound systems, bluetooth headsets, etc, I was finally threw with the bs, and threw with shivering (I checked afterwards, and the thermostat was set to 30 degrees, and it was snowing outside), I told them that I took a cell phone charger.

COMPLETE CRAP!

I wanted it to be over, and they made me feel very threatened. The loss prevention guy continued to threaten me with attorneys and other legal action, so I was frankly scared out of my mind. I said that the charger was $40, and everyone that works for the company should know that there is NO cell phone charger in that store, that costs that much. They asked me what the most expensive thing I had stolen was, and I just threw out a number to make them shut up.

I paid them $40 because they said that if I didn't, I would go to jail.

I wasn't getting enough hours to pay my bills and despite the fact that my numbers were good, I was treated as if I was some kind of fungus and never felt comfortable working. I was great with customers, was never late, never called off, but yet my manager, who was guilty of the same thing as me (having a nonchalant conversation?), decided to make a big deal about it and "turn me in".

I signed the papers admitting what I had "stolen", so I'm guessing that will be on my record.
I want to do something about this though. I didn't take anything, and if I were to steal, it sure as hell wouldn't be a cell phone charger.
I admitted to staling because they were interrogating me and made me feel as if I were trapped...
Just don't know what to do.
