Regional Acceptance Convenience Fee Refund from Regional Acceptance

We received a check in the mail yesterday from Regional stating:

"A review of the records on your account since January 1, 2009 indicates that you were charged, and we received, on or more fees on your account for the convenience of payment by credit card, debit card, telephone or use of our website. Texas law does not authorize this fee on this type of contract. These convenience fees therefore should not have been charged or received on your account. We apologize for this error and are refunding the convenience fees that were received on your account during this period. Attached to this letter you will find a refund check in the amount of $60. We also waive any unpaid convenience fees on your account. This letter is not a request for payment. If you have any questions, please contact us at [protected], option 6, or at P.O. Box 20126, Greenville, NC 27858"

This is the law in Texas:

Sec. 339.001. IMPOSITION OF SURCHARGE FOR USE OF CREDIT CARD. (a) In a sale of goods or services, a seller may not impose a surcharge on a buyer who uses a credit card for an extension of credit instead of cash, a check, or a similar means of payment.

(b) This section does not apply to a state agency, county, local governmental entity, or other governmental entity that accepts a credit card for the payment of fees, taxes, or other charges.

(c) The Finance Commission of Texas shall have exclusive jurisdiction to enforce and adopt rules relating to this section. Rules adopted pursuant to this section shall be consistent with federal laws and regulations governing credit card transactions described by this section. This section does not create a cause of action against an individual for violation of this section.

Amended by Acts 1999, 76th Leg., ch. 62, Sec. 7.18(a), eff. Sept. 1, 1999.

Amended by:

Acts 2005, 79th Leg., Ch. 1018, Sec. 2.15, eff. September 1, 2005.

In review of the demanded payment history, by my count, they owe me over $300, much more than the $60 they are proposing I accept.

If you live in Texas, and if you get a check, do your homework and see just how many fees they've hit you with. I plan to fight this nominal fee and demand my money back.

Regional Acceptance Don't use Regional Acceptance

We did what everyone has done and found out the hard way...never co-sign for a family member. Business money and family almost never work, not to mention the unexpected hurt and loss of both the relationship and finances. With that being said, my husband co-sign for a car loan for his 50+ year old sister, needless to say she had not made one payment on the car four months after receiving it from the dealership. So we had to step in and take it and start making the payments. The vehicle had been a hardship ever since. We managed to sell the car and let the individual make payments on it as well as carry the insurance. No it wasn't anyone we knew and we were lucky to get such an honest individual. We knew that we would have to poney up some monies at the end to make the payoff amount. The real problems we faced with Regional Acceptance is this: since we had three car payments you better know there were plenty of times we were late. But what really killed us was the Insurance they kept tacking on to our loan! At $1500 a pop! They said when the paperwork was sign, it was written in that we were to maintain a deductible of no more than $500 we did provide proof of the insurance deductible being $500 but once they tack on the $1500, they will on reverse out, even if you provide proof! The wording of this in the contract is no where to be found and if you cannot find your paperwork after 2 years, they certainly will not provide a copy of it to you or quote page, section and verse. We hired an attorney who was unable to break through their fortress of ###ting account collectors. So now we are sitting here with our loan that matured in August 2010 but with the 2 times insurance add on and multiple late fees our payoff sits at $3500. My husband and I call this morning to see if we could negociate down any monies with a resounding "NO" from their people we grudgingly gave our payment information to get rid of this Finance Company from ***. My advice on getting a vehicle with bad credit, or no credit would be to estabish an accout with a credit union or institution other than the bottom feeder that Regional Acceptance Corp really is. It isn't worth the headach or stress to keep your credit moving forward. Regional Acceptance Corp is really a difficult Company to work with. They may have helped and financed a vehicle for you but during times of hardship (and there will be times) they will not back down on getting exactly what is owed to them and they will not work with you.

Regional Acceptance Don't finance with them

Regional Acceptance Finance is not a customer service oriented company. They will not work with you in any form or fashion. I have been paying them on time, but since I have lost my job they are not able to work with me. My payment is 60 days past due and they said that they are going to pick my car and told them come and pick it up. They are a ridiculous company and I wish I had never finance with them. Please do not finance or refinance with them. I am a very pissed consumer with this company.

Regional Acceptance harassment

REGIONAL ACCEPTANCE CORPORATION continues to harass me by phone.
i have never obtained a loan, or had any business with REGIONAL ACCEPTANCE CORPORATION, yet they continue to harass me with an automated phone system.
this system requires you give REGIONAL ACCEPTANCE CORPORATION information, "please enter your full social security number", prior to connecting to a human.
i have spent hours attempting to have my phone removed from REGIONAL ACCEPTANCE CORPORATION'S call list.
REGIONAL ACCEPTANCE CORPORATION continues to call twice a day.

if REGIONAL ACCEPTANCE CORPORATION treats non-customers like this...why on earth would anyone do business with REGIONAL ACCEPTANCE CORPORATION?

Regional Acceptance Crooks

I purchased my car 4 years ago, the dealership financed through Regional. Currently I owe more on the car than I did when it was purchased. Late charges, finance charges, their insurance. A few of the employees neglect to follow through on what they promise causing additional charges to me.But then there were a few helpful ones. I was off work on vacation, when I returned to work I had 21 voicemails from Regional Acceptance. I would tell anyone if Regional is suggested to them as a finance company for anything to run, not walk, run away very fast.

Wow what a bunch of unprofessional people working for that company. I had a vehicle finance with RAC and the first indication this was a bad decision came when I set up a direct deposit with them and the payment I had deducted from my pay was sent to the wrong account and when I explained to the rep at RAC they were rude and pointed fingers at the dealership and the bank who funnels the money out, saying they must have put in the wrong routing info, which turned out to be bull. They forgot to send in the paperwork in a timely manner and they money went to an old account I had set up with a past signature loan. I was so pissed how they handled the situation and passed the blame and lied to me that before I paid them another dime, I traded the vehicle. I thought that would get me away from them but now after the payoff they are saying I owe $400, and once again are *** to deal with. They said the dealership got the wrong payoff, which I heard on the speaker phone at the dealership, they mailed the right amount. Then they said it the interest that builds up each day, then he blamed they place the dealership mailed the payment. Unbelievable! Please stay away from this place if you can. I know they loan money to folks with less than perfect credit, but there are better deals out there and may need to go to other dealerships that work with a variety of finance companies.

I am in a situation with RAC. I lost my husband afew months back and his income was what got us a '08 Dodge. At this time i can't pay for it and I tried to explain to them or even request a refinance. They will not listen, they just want money that I don't have. All they know how to say is "repo" and "you will pay the deficiency". Give me a brake. It was not my choice to lose my husband. And Agreement was sign when we didn't know anything was going to happen. Hello things happen out of our control...

Regional Acceptance Aggressive tactics

There is something terribly wrong with RAC. I divorced the person who holds Regional loan in 2017 yet RAC has followed me from MD to GA and back to MD over the last 3+ years; and only to have the Repo man knock on my door at 3:00am (3/26/2017) looking for my ex. Mind you, I have no connection with this car loan. Wasn't listed as a reference, co-signer, absolutely nothing to do with this situation. They have his contact information; yet continue to harrass me. Anyone know what I can do about this? Know a good attorney?

Rude invasive, unprofessional power tripping indiviuals call trying to intimidate you into sending a payment that you aready know you owe. Specifically Patricia "Patty" from the Margate Florida office. You catch more flies with honey than vinegar. when you finish this review google the FDCPA Fair Debt Collection Practice Act. see how many violations she makes in one call and the company tries to pacify you but the one the indivual thinks that have the grounds to try to demean you. The bark is worse than the bite and they need to be muzzled. Soon to be on the internet left messages by the "Star". That is the best way to fight back against harrassing telemarkers and abusive collectors. take the recorded phone messages and post them on the internet.

Regional Acceptance Customer Service

This letter was sent to Regional Acceptance, as well as a survey for customer satisfaction, as well as my local news and other companies that regional is affiliated with. I want to make sure I get the word out, this company is terrible, and they should be in prison for the way they talk to people!

I would like a phone call ASAP [protected] to discuss the type of "customer service" I received. I have a new loan with your company and over the past two years we have experienced terrible circumstances. I have been making payments on my loan as best I can, which has been late and I realize that. NO MATTER WHAT STATE MY ACCOUNT IS IN! DOES NOT GIVE YOUR PEOPLE THE RIGHT TO TALK TO CUSTOMERS THE WAY I WAS SPOKEN TODAY.
Two years ago as a police officer coming home from work my husband was hit by a 19 year old drunk, since his accident he had to give up his career as a police officer, we lost 3 of our 4 family pets and our roof was ripped off by a storm. It’s been awful.
The car accident is what led us to your company. We needed a car to replace the car that was ripped from us by the 19 year old idiot. I was working with Betsy Watkins ext 24220 she is a wonderful woman who was concerned about our situation and who was willing to help, and work with us until our settlement came. I was so grateful.

Until I met Mr. Pinder located at phone number [protected]. by the sound of his muffled, broken english voice I could tell this person was uneducated, and attempting to recover debts from trash was his daily job.

I HOWEVER am NOT TRASH and the way he spoke to me was rude, ignorant and un called for. He raised his voice at me and then proceeded to ask me "Now What You Gonna DO" over the phone to me like I was some ###ing hood rat, from the west side. I am educated and I hold a good job, and I fell on hard times and I am being talked to like this because I am trying to make payment and do the best I can.

No wonder people don’t call to make payments you have someone like Mr. Pinder working on your team. After begging to make a payment for the following Friday and being told, and I quote. "no Too late the car up for repo" I asked to speak with Ms. Watkins. Mr. Pinder then told me "It Don’t Matter, I sign her pappa work it don’t matter you want to speak wit her"
So now what? I get upset, which was the wrong thing to do with someone of no class because of course he just continued to treat me poorly. I then asked who his boss was and told me that his boss was the repo man and then he proceeded to tell me "I am sure he would love to speak wit you" After my husband got on the phone with Mr. Pinder and kissed his ### he suddenly was able to make a payment for Friday like I originally wanted.

IS THIS A GAME YOU PLAY WITH YOUR CUSTOMERS? DO YOU ENJOY GETTIING PEOPLE RILLED UP, GOOD HARD WORKING PEOPLE? IS THIS HOW YOU TREAT THEM? After this ordeal we have decided that when we get our settlement money, which I hope will be soon we, are getting rid of the car and NEVER doing business with your company again. no matter how bad someone’s credit is and no matter how bad the situation NO ONE should be spoken to the way we were talked to today! NO ONE and I will see to it that this doesn’t end here. I am sending this information to the better business Bura and also my local news.

I have been out of work most of the week with the H1N1 virus; Mr. Pinder had me so upset I was coughing to the point I couldn’t speak anymore. Which is why my husband took over the call. You and your company should be ashamed of yourselves.

In this day and age, no matter what, you need to give people the benefit of the doubt and look at the history and if they do pay but you know there struggling perhaps treat them with empathy.
Again I would like a phone call, I would like to discuss the phone call and I would like to encourage you to pull a tape of the conversation and I would be more than happy to go over that with you. No one deserves to be spoken to the way I was today NO ONE, and I want the world to know how you do business!

Sincerely
Nick Fote

Ethically speaking, you should never be late on any bill or financial agreement you have or agreed to pay. I strongly believe the only disability in life is a bad attitude but how would you handle the situation if someone owed you thousands of dollars and they were making or trying to use every excuse in the book to not pay on time. Pay ur bills on time and you can expect to be treated as such.

I have had my fair share of Mr. Pinder. After I was laidoff I was 2 days late with my auto loan, that is due on the 28th. I explained to Mr Pinder that my unemployment check comes in another 3 days, He told me he didn't care and was going to repo my car. I asked the company to change my due date, being that I get unemployment every two weeks, rent, and my utility bills are all due at the end and the first off the month, I was told it can't be done without signing another contract with them. I already have a contract. Out of all my car loans I have ever had this is the worst company I have ever done business with, and I would never recomend this company to anybody

Regional Acceptance Worst company ever

This company is worst I have ever encountered in 50 years! Their license should be revoked.

This man identified himself as a PI for Regional. He called four times back to back even though I told him that I did not have the car that my identity has been stolen. He called me a liar. I stopped answering and he left 10 back to back voicemails on my pohone! That is 14 calls in one day!

Then yesterday he left a threat on my voicemail that he knew where I live. The whole thing is scary and abusive! I am contacting the Attorney General.

Regional Acceptance Fear tactics

I was about a month and half late on a payment, and I received a phone message asking me to clear out everything in my vehicle. She said it was because they were sending a tow truck to my residence to pick up my vehicle. Suffice it to say, the truck never arrived and nor did I clean out my vehicle.

Additionally, they called me several times after 9pm which is against the law here in Texas. Yes, they are crooks if there is anyone looking to get finance run if you hear the name Regional Acceptance Corp., you will be sorry if you do business with them.

Regional Acceptance Failure to Refund Overpayment

Regional Acceptance Corp. received a check from my insurance company on 3/4/09. There was a overpayment of $2524. I was told on 3/6 that they would send me the check after 15 business days (which I completely understand they need to make sure the insurance check clears the bank). I again call them on 3/30/09 to see if my overage check went out. At that point they told me there was no overage. I had to call my insurance company out of CA to get a copy of the check, fax it down to Regional...in the meantime they were supposed to call me back which they never did. I again called on 3/31. I was told they would not mail a check out to me until 4/4/09... 30 days after they received the check from my insurance company. The way I look at this is I have paid them interest over the last 3 years... perhaps they would like to pay ME interest for holding MY money!

Regional Acceptance Terrible company

Yes, I had a car financed through Regional Acceptance, and even though the contract said I had 10 days before a late charge would be imposed, 'August' would call and threaten to have the car repossessed one day after the due date.

August eventually had her way and repossessed the car two months later. Hopefully the government will never give them a bailout.

Regional Acceptance harassment over loan that no longer exists

We had a 2005 Ford 500 financed through Regional Acceptance. This vehicle was traded at Crown Toyota, Decatur Illinois, for a 2008 Toyota Yaris. The new car was financed through Regional Acceptance. We are receiving harassing phone calls about a late payment on the old car. My wife's aunt and our son and daughter have also been called. How on earth can theyscrew this up. The new car is financed through them. Don't you think they would have verified that the old car was paid off before they issued us a new loan on a contract that had the old car finance information on it. What scares me is that we will have to deal them for the rest of the loan. Has anyone else had problems with this company. Joey, who has been doing the calling, told my wife that we wouldn't be getting calls if we would pay our bill. We tried to contact his supervisor, Silas, but imagine this, he was not available.
And to top it all off I had to press one for English.

Got my car financed in june 2021, at 34k, and its still 33k, barely drops, finance principle never drops, have a hard time killing the interest, which is the worse in the financial business! We need to all file a lawsuit against this company soon! I have not had anything happen to this car, but lose value while the financed amount stays still!

I finally lost my car of 5 years to them. Somehow I still owed 20 grand on my car. They towed then sold my car for 4 grand. Then said I still owed 18000. I hate that company with a passion. I am back with capital one and my payments are reflecting the right way in less then a year. Don't go with regional acceptance.

What you people think is illegal, isn't. Every bit of what has happened to you is because of you're own irresponsibility. I work for Regional Acceptance, and The Force Place Insurance is placed on your loan because you either switch insurance companies and your old insurance company notifies us of the cancellation of that coverage, or you have a lapse in insurance. And if you switch insurance companies, it is YOUR responsibility to notify us with that information. and hich if any of you would happen to read the contract that you sign when you buy the vehicle, that the requirement to have full insurance coverage on the vehicle at all times while financed is on there. So not only is it illegal, but it is a breach in contract, not only that, Regional Acceptance loans you 15+ thousand dollars, that you DON'T have, and because your credit sucks, no one else will finance you, and what you, as a customer don't reazlize, is that car may be registered to you, but in the real until your account with RAC is showing a 0.00 payoff, it belongs to US, and if you are in breach of contract we have to cover OUR collatteral that you so happened to just not be doing. So you people, with your credit scores of 500, that are the fabulous customers that i have to deal with every day complaining about this same thing(s), go get your lawyer, every thing IS stated in your contract. Quit trying to weasel yourselves out of something that is your own fault, maybe the hundreds of dollars your spending hiring that lawyer instead of being childish, YOU WOULDN"T BE LATE ON YOUR PAYMENT EVERY MONTH!

Yours Truly.

I agree with all your comments this has been the worse experience ever for me. They took my payments up $164 from my original agreement price due to the same BS auto insurance. I had auto insurance and they claimed I didn't. I still have auto insurance and they still charging for insurance and they have the proof, how can you do that? So I been paying them on a monthly basis and because I stop putting in the additional $164 because I have to keep up with my real insurance last night they came and repo my car. Why would you take a car from a person paying every month. I spoke with the tow guy and he said they said I had not paid since May 08 which was a lie because my last payment was Aug 31 08. The balance he said I owed was a $1K over the amount said I owed on-line. So I go to call this morning and no one answers the phone. How can you not answer the phone is a "business". So I think with they did to me was illegal and I am contacting an attorney and see if I can get a class-action lawsuit. I wouldn't mind having my car taking if I wasn't making the payment but to have it taking when I am I do have a BIG problem with that!

These people hold payments for 7-10 days and then tack on late fees to our account each and every month because our payment is "late". When we called we were told to send the payment in earlier. We live on a tight budget so the one time we did that our check miraculously posted 2 days later! And 6 hours before our paycheck posted...so you can imagine. There are huge fees to pay by phone or via internet so what option is there? They have called my employers office continually on these "late" payments and I even sent them a letter concerning fair debt protection with my attorney's information and they continue to call. Now they will deal with our attorney...but do NOT ever do business with these people. We were given these people because I married into financial credit problems. I have not had to deal with these kind of money hungry people who only accept people with money problems and then proceed to steal from them.
