Frame Fixers Fraud & Scam

Frame Fixers (framefixers.com) is a fraud and a scam. If you send frames there for repair, your credit card will be charged, and you will never see your frames again. The owner, August Cornell, also has an eBay account, and I believe that the stolen frames and parts are being resold on eBay.

If you have been defrauded, please make reports to:
1) your credit card company
2) US Postal Inspection Service: http://ehome.uspis.gov/fcsexternal/default.aspx
3) Internet Crime Complaint Center: https://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx
4) Your local Police Department. Even though the fraud occurred in New York, the Syracuse police department will want a report from your local PD."

I wish I had read the reviews posted for Frame Fixers before sending an expensive pair of prescription glasses for repair. They have now had my glasses for ten weeks and refuse to send them to me, even though I canceled the work order 11 days ago. They do not respond to phone calls or emails since my initial contact in May. I have been told twice that my...

Frame Fixers 3 months & still waiting

I also sent a pair of vintage glasses to Frame Fixers for repair. Three months have passed and I still don't have them back. They do not respond to e-mails or phone calls. They claim to be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. My credit card was charged back in June and I do not have my glasses back. Oh, let me take that back. I did get a response to one of my e-mails. I was told that "there is nothing sinister going on." The repairs had been done, but for some reason they have been sitting on the to be sent out desk with a Hold tag on them. The gentlemen (August Cornell) was going to look into the matter and get me an answer. Well, that was 3 weeks ago, and I have not heard anything. I have written to them 2 times since the initial response and nothing.

Frame Fixers They don't conduct themselves as a real business would

I sent my vintage glasses to be repaired by Framefixers, but they sent them back ruined. I waited over a month to get my glasses back. I was given fake tracking numbers. And when I finally received my glasses the frame was dented as if someone was banging it with a hammer and the frame was stripped. They don't conduct themselves as a real business would. BEWARE...

Frame Fixers More like frame wreckers

I had a nice pair of 60s vintage American Optical pilot, 12k white gold filled sunglasses. They needed one weld on the top bar above the bridge. August assured me it was an easy fix and that he could do it in a day and send it out the next day. At least 2 1/2 weeks later I received them (after invalid tracking, numerous phone calls, etc). Open the box, one of the temples drops off!
Then I look at the frames themselves and my heart sinks. Totally lopsided. They also managed to break the weld on the other side of the bar. In the process of the wreck, they not only bend the bar but manage to shift it 2 mm to one side, rotate one of the lenses very noticeably and create gaps between the lens and the frame so the lenses are popping out near the point of the welds. Nice glasses reduced to nothing. Bogus excuses, no apologies and no compensation or even an offer for a refund. He only offered to make necessary adjustments, HA! Destroy them even more? Reported to the Better Business Bureau, we'll see what happens. I only wish I had seen this sight before all this went down. Sorry to all past and future Frame "Fixers" customers. Frame Fixers Pre-paid repair service not performed after 4 months and will not return phone calls or emails

My name is Earl Whipple and I sent in two Giorgio Amani Rx frames for new spring hinges, new nose piece, and an arm repair. I sent them in on June 8, 2011 and had a phone conversation w/ Christine in their lab on June20th and was given an estimate of 30 days -due to a 2 week back log on their work and 2 weeks needed to perform the actual work. In mid-July, I followed up and after several phone calls I got through and was told my glasses were being work on and should be completed in about ten days and shipped to me. In August, I began leaving more voicemail and emails - first once a week then later twice a week. On August 15th I received a message from a woman saying a conversation was needed to finish the job. Since that date I have left messages almost every day explaining I was returning THEIR call.. and nothing. I call the Christine the lab tech's cell number, the main business phone number, and customer inquiry email address. No responses since August 15th. I want my glasses returned fully repaired or returned with full refund - NOW.

On Sept. 13, 2012, I sent an inquiry to framefixers.com, complete with photos, regarding some broken antique sunglasses. I received a lengthy reply the same day from August Cornell telling me about the glasses - he said they're from the Civil War era - and that he could fix them and that normal repair turnaround is two days.

I sent the glasses in, and now Mr. Cornell is not answering the phone or replying to my polite inquiries about the glasses.

I had good contact with them for the first month and then they slipped into not returning my calls. If I do not hear back from them or get my frames back I will be calling my credit card company to withdraw the payment. Has anyone done that?

Unfortunately I also fell into the Frame Fixers trap! I sent a very nice pair of Martine Sitbon glasses. All I wanted was my lenses replaced for sun glass lenses. I did all the proper due diligence. Calls, emails, BBB complaint. Credit Card dispute and so on and so forth...
It would be great for the complaints to pile up and Frame Fixers reputation will be tainted as it should and they go out of business!

Here's some indisputable facts about Frame Fixers and August Cornell:

August was arrested in April 2006 on on two counts of grand larceny and one count of scheming to defraud, both felonies, in
conjunction with a business he ran called Erie Gem and Watch. He was arraigned before DeWitt Town Justice Jack Schultz.
Everyone is entitled to the presumption of innocence, and I do not know how this turned out. Following his arrest, over 60
people came forward, claiming to have been defrauded by Mr Cornell.

The business addresses of Augusts services are usually post offices, or UPS stores.

Frame Fixers has the lowest possible BBB ranking, F.

If your reading this August, feel free to dispute any of it.

Now that we have the facts out of the way, here is my opinion: If BS was music, August would be a brass band. I also believe that his 'lab tech' Christine, is also his wife, and is only slightly more reliable than August.

I also had an experience with Frame Fixers with the usual runaround. Calls and e-mails unanswered, and on the rare occasions someone actually answered the phone, a list of excuses that were comical in retrospect, each directly conflicting with the previous.

Here's the best route to getting your glasses back. Call every day and leave a polite message simply asking for your property back. Also e-mail every day, same message, simply request that your glasses be sent back. Every day. This will most likely take weeks, but keep it up. Eventually he we return them, just to make it stop. Be polite, even if he doesn't deserve it, remember you just want your stuff back.

Sorry Big Fella, your experience sounds remarkably similar to mine (from several years ago). I have no idea how these clowns stay in business. I eventually got my frames returned and the work they did was simply terrible! But the story was the same--one excuse on another. They're basically frauds, but no one finds out until its too late.
I think Frame Fixers has really milked an old mention in the Wall Street Journal... The author of that piece did many people a real dis-service by quoting "August, " and clearly she did no due diligence before publishing the piece. Too bad!
