I sent an email on August 20th to ask about the progress, and they replied on August 23rd saying I got rejected. I asked for an explanation and my health records on the same day, but I haven't gotten any response yet.

I've been trying to get in touch with them since last Wednesday, December 29, but no luck so far. I've tried calling and emailing, but I haven't been able to speak with a representative. I even attempted to chat with them online, but that didn't work either. I dialed their 800 number, but no one answered. Can you believe it? I really need some help here. I just want to make sure this isn't some kind of scam or fraud. If you could give them a call at ***, that would be great. Thanks a bunch.

I had a life insurans policy that ended in Dec. 2021 SBLI notified me that the policy expired and I called them and agreed. I thought that was that Around March 11 of this year, while checking my bank account, I realised that SBLI had debited my checking $839.03 for the month of Jan, Feb and March When I contacted SBLI, they had me sign a policy release form. The irony is that I am 77 and too old to get a new policy. They said they are working on getting this resolved. I don't believe them - as a 77 year old and totally disabled veteran, we need our money. Someone should audit SBLI thanks

Charged premium without consent (out of term). This is about policy number *** (10-year term life). They charged me (3 times the regular price) for the year 2021 even though the policy had already expired. I didn't get any communication in 2021 about a higher premium. They need to refund the unauthorized charges (all payments after the policy expired). If they don't refund, I'm gonna complain to NAIC, FTC, and state Insurance corporation. I sent a letter this year and canceled all payments starting this year. Here's the letter I got this year, never got one last year.

I got this court thingy that says I'm supposed to get a life insurance payout from SBLI if my ex-husband kicks the bucket and my alimony stops. Well, guess what? The dude croaked, and my alimony stopped, but SBLI is giving me the runaround. They keep blabbering about some "contestable review" without giving me any clue about when it'll be done. I've tried emailing, calling, and even sending registered letters, but they don't bother to respond. I used to rely on that alimony cash, but now I'm scraping by on food stamps and begging my pals for money to cover my mortgage. I did everything by the book, followed all the rules, and provided all the necessary documents. My ex-husband died back in November , and these SBLI folks keep saying they have no idea how long their review will take. It's like they're playing a different game than the one they advertise on the radio. I can't afford a lawyer, and honestly, I shouldn't have to.

I contacted SBLI on 6/9 to cancel a life insurance policy with them. They said I had to fill out a surrender form and send it back. I filled it out and emailed it to their customer service center and the original rep I spoke to. They said they got the form. I clearly said on the form that I wanted to surrender immediately. They took a payment of *** from my bank account on 6/10 because they couldn't stop the auto draft in time. I got a *** due on 7/10 for *** (marked quarterly payment), but they told me to ignore it because the account would be surrendered. But now they took *** from my checking account on 6/29 without permission for a policy that I already canceled. I talked to *** at 3:47pm on 6/29 and she said a manager would call me back. I called again at 4:49pm and still didn't get a solution.

This is a complaint about SBLI Insurance Company. I tried to get a Life Insurance policy for my family in November through The Insurance Ladi brokerage. They sent my application to SBLI and started taking money from my account for the policy right away. But I never got any communication or policy documents. Every time I call ***, they say they can't find any information about me in their system. Meanwhile, SBLI keeps taking money from my bank account for policies that don't even exist. Since December, the insurance broker and I have been trying to stop the payments, but we haven't been successful. Just recently, on 1/26/2022, SBLI took money from my bank account again, and I still haven't received any confirmation that my application was approved. I asked my bank to block any future payments from SBLI and investigate the situation. I want SBLI to give me back all the money they took and stop taking money from my bank account.

I submitted the SBLI claim online on 8/1/2022. I got an automated email on the same day saying they got my claim. On 8/11/2022, I contacted *** and they said I should get a reply from the claims department in *** days. On 8/18/2022, I got a letter from *** acknowledging the death of *** and that I was the Personal representative. They asked me to complete the Maturity form. I sent an email back to *** with a question about the maturity form, but I didn't get a reply. The final reply I got was that she was out sick from 8/20-8/31. I called customer service three times, but the hold times were longer than 10 minutes, so I couldn't reach anyone. On 8/31/22, I sent another email to *** asking for a reply, but I didn't get one. On 9/19/2022, I filled out the maturity form and sent it to SBLI. I got an automated reply from SBLI saying they got my email. It's now 10/5/22 and I still haven't heard back from *** or SBLI, so I sent another email to her. On 10/5/2022, I got a reply from *** about my question, but nothing about the status of the claim. On 10/7/2022, I called customer service and was on hold for over 10 minutes. I left a message as their recording suggests, but I didn't get a call back. On 10/11/2022, I sent another email to *** saying that I sent in the maturity form on 9/19/2022 and still haven't heard back from anyone at SBLI. I got another out of office notice and there was no backup listed, only the customer service number. So, I called customer service again on 10/11/2022 and after 4 minutes, *** answered. He couldn't give me any information about the status of the claim. He asked me to send the death certificate, Personal representative form, and maturity form to his email, ***, the SBLI records department. *** confirmed that he got the email and attachments and said he would move the request along. On 10/11/2022, I got a confirmation email from the SBLI records department saying they got my email. It's now 10/13/2022 and I still haven't heard anything from SBLI, ***, or Bill 8/.

I want to share my experience with SBLI, my life insurance company. I've been with them for three months now, and I have a simple request. I would like to pay my life insurance on a monthly basis because it's easier for me. I don't have any loans with SBLI or anyone else, I just want a convenient way to make my payments.
I recently reached out to the *** Insurance Commission for help, but I feel like my request was not understood. Maybe it's because I mentioned my support for the Black Lives Matter movement. It seems like the representative from the State of *** doesn't want to help me and is ignoring my request. It's important to acknowledge that insurance options for minorities, especially Black men, are not always the same. Many Black men face challenges and are often left without proper insurance coverage.
As someone with a Sociology BA and a Masters of Public Administration, I have studied and written about the disparities faced by Black men. I believe SBLI should update their website to allow customers to upload banking documents instead of just offering email and fax options. I will also be sharing this suggestion with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
There are many other areas that could use improvement, and I feel qualified to make these suggestions based on my degree and over 30 years of combined experience in both private and government sectors, including the military.
In conclusion, I simply want to be able to pay my SBLI monthly insurance bill of $130.94. I hope my experience sheds light on the challenges that ordinary Black men face when it comes to obtaining and maintaining insurance coverage.
