Disappointing Experience with SGS Engineering: Strimmer Broke After 30 Minutes and Poor Customer Service
I recently made a purchase from SGS Engineering, and while the product, a Strimmer, looked good at first, it unfortunately gave out on me after only 30 minutes of use. This was quite disappointing, to say the least. When I reached out to SGS for assistance, I can say that I was not entirely satisfied with their customer service. They informed me that, due to the fact that it was a 2 stroke engine and air cooled, it shouldn't have been used for more than 30 minutes. Truth be told, I wish this had been communicated to me prior to my purchase. Overall, my experience with SGS wasn't great, and I had to go through a lengthy process to get the product returned and fixed. Initially, I was told that a returns order would be sent to me, but I didn't receive any correspondence after that. I had to take the initiative to follow up with them, and I was eventually informed that the product needed to be returned. They also advised me that if it turned out to be due to misuse, I would be responsible for repair costs. Despite having a "no quibble" 60 day returns policy, I didn't return the product right away as I wanted to give them the chance to make it right. That said, I did eventually return the Strimmer, and it took two weeks before I had to call them again to check if they had received it. Finally, they told me that the Strimmer had been fixed and would be returned. When I asked what had been wrong with it, they informed me that there had been a carburettor fault. Furthermore, while they did refund me some of the postage costs, it wasn't the full amount. I was refunded only ?6.30 of my ?18.00 postage costs. To potential buyers of an SGS multitool Strimmer, my advice is to make sure to only run it for less than 30 minutes at a time. Otherwise, you may find yourself in the same situation I did, with poor customer service and a frustrating returns process.
Avoid SGS Engineering: Poor Customer Service and Faulty Products Result in Costly Return Process
This here is a review of SGS engineering, and let me just tell you, this company really let me down with their terrible customer service. It took nearly four whole months just to return a faulty item - can you believe that? I shelled out ?360 on a compressor that was supposed to help me work on my car's suspension and steering, but right when I took it out of the box, it was clear that something wasn't right. The travel bung was punctured, and the whole thing was covered in oil. I cleaned it up and tried to use it anyway, but it just couldn't do what it was supposed to do. I needed a compressor that could handle wheel bolts that were tightened at 120nm, but even though this one was rated for over 300nm, it couldn't get the job done.
After that, I tried returning the item, since the website said they had a 60-day money-back guarantee, and I'd used PayPal to pay for it, which should have made it pretty easy. But two whole weeks went by without any response to my emails, and when I called the company, no one seemed to know what was going on. Eventually, I had to raise a case with PayPal just to try and get my money back. Even then, the company still tried to appeal it and not refund me, even though I'd returned a faulty product to them at my own expense!
It's been four months now, and I'm still waiting on a PayPal appeal. If you're thinking about buying something from SGS engineering, just stay away - when things go wrong, this company won't have your back, and it could end up costing you big time.
Nightmare Experience with SGS Engineering's 100L Air Compressor
I have been experiencing quite the journey with SGS Engineering's 100L air compressor. And let me tell you, it has been no easy ride! To start off, when the compressor arrived it had a crack in the manifold and rust in the tank. Now, normally this wouldn't be a big deal because the product came with a warranty for both parts and labor, but when I called SGS about it they sent me a replacement manifold and told me the rust was normal. Personally, I wasn't convinced because it was a brand new product after all.
After fitting the new manifold myself and ensuring that it was working properly, I used the compressor twice more. Unfortunately, on the second use the compressor failed after only 4 hours of total use and it started to run rough and blow fuses. And to make matters worse, I had only had the compressor for a little over a month at this point.
I contacted SGS and they agreed to collect the compressor to investigate the fault. But, not once, but twice, I waited from 8 am to 6 pm and they still didn't show up to collect it. Talk about frustrating! After much back and forth with their customer service manager who refused to offer a refund until the compressor was back and inspected, it felt like there was no end in sight. Despite my efforts to encourage SGS to collect it, they just wouldn't.
To make matters worse, SGS insists that I need to let them try to collect it again and they give me their word that it will be collected (even though they had broken that promise twice before). And they refuse to take any reasonable actions to ensure that the same thing doesn't happen again. For example, using a different courier.
Currently, SGS is looking into what they can do and they promised to get back to me, but I'm not holding my breath. It seems like they're just trying to stall and pass the buck. If this doesn't get resolved soon, I feel like my next options will be writing to their director, Andrew Wyatt, or reaching out to trading standards or small claims court.
All in all, I can't say that I'm thrilled with my experience with SGS Engineering. I'm really hoping that they can make this right because the process has been nothing short of a nightmare.
Mixed experience with SGS motorcycle lift: poor communication and delivery, but reasonable quality and performance
Ordered a motorcycle lift from SGS and had some issues with the communication and delivery process. I contacted them initially to confirm the cost of delivering to my postcode and made payment for the extra carriage fee. However, later that day, someone else from within their company cancelled my order claiming that they do not deliver to my area. What a lack of communication! But I'm glad that I was able to resolve the issue on the phone the following day and the order was reinstated.
The delivery took over a week, which I found unacceptable. I even asked for tracking details more than once, but SGS did not respond. However, when the motorcycle lift finally arrived, I was happy with its reasonable quality and performance. But there was a minor issue with the foot pedal travel limiting bolt. Unfortunately, it was fitted at the wrong angle and lacked a locking nut to prevent it from vibrating in or out. This was a bit of a downer but at least it was still usable.
Moving on, the moveable vice (wheel clamp), which was designed to accommodate a variety of front tyre widths, was also a good idea initially. It allowed for better flexibility and convenience when working with different types of motorcycles. However, SGS decided to weld a steel bar across the underside of the slots, and this resulted in only 5mm of adjustment instead of 50! This was very disappointing and seemed like a careless oversight. But what was worse was that my moveable vice had been manufactured incorrectly, causing uneven pressure on the front wheel while in use.
I contacted SGS about this problem, but as usual, they did not respond. I'm now considering lodging a formal refund request through my credit card company and just buying a Clarke motorcycle lift instead. It's frustrating to have to deal with all these issues, but hopefully, SGS will improve their communication, quality control and delivery processes in the future.
Terrible Experience with SGS Engineering and DX Delivery: A Buyer's Warning
So, I ordered a compressor from SGS through their website, sgs-engineering.com. Unfortunately, the first compressor arrived with a broken drain valve. This made it impossible to drain the tank, but it was a simple fix. SGS wanted me to return the compressor, but there were some delays with the courier company, DX Delivery. They didn't show up twice, which meant that I had to drag the heavy and re-boxed compressor up my driveway in December. It was not a fun experience, to say the least. After the third time, the collection was finally completed.
Then, three weeks after I placed the order, I received an email saying that the fault was still being investigated. SGS couldn't offer me a replacement or a refund until the investigation was completed. It was frustrating because it was just a ?3 drain valve! Eventually, a replacement compressor arrived, but it was in terrible condition. It was soaked in oil, and the motor pulley wheel was smashed, and the cage was mangled. I had to take more photos and repackage it for the courier company once again.
It wasn't ideal for me because I had to drag the bulky box up my driveway thrice, and I received two more "sorry about the delay" emails. The situation continued from November to January, and I was ?300 out of pocket without a working compressor. I suspect that the courier company played a significant part in the damage to both compressors. When they loaded the second return, they put it on its side and said that it was pointless to stand it upright. They said that it would fall over anyway.
SGS is the retailer, and they are legally responsible for the condition of their packages until they reach their destination. They chose to use DX Delivery, and the buck stops with them. My experience with both SGS and DX Delivery was abysmal. It was extremely bad, appalling, dreadful, awful, terrible, frightful, atrocious, disgraceful, deplorable, shameful, woeful, lamentable, and laughable.
So, I ended up buying a new compressor from Machine Mart. I was more than happy with the purchase because there were no faults or hassle. I highly recommend them.
SGS Engineering 41-inch Stainless Steel Tool Chest: Best Value for Money and Quality Product
I went and bought myself the 41 inch stainless steel tool chest from SGS Engineering after doing some research and comparing it to other products. I'm happy to report that I found it to be the best value for my money and a quality product overall.
However, I do have some issues with the website. It promised delivery on a certain day, but my delivery was actually pushed back by a few days. I was in bed after a night shift when it arrived, which was inconvenient. The website also said that I would receive next day delivery, but it actually takes 2 or 3 days for larger items. This is a bit misleading, so I suggest that SGS Engineering should address this.
When the tool chest arrived, I was happy to see that it was well packed in two boxes and there was no damage at all. Everything was present and correct, so all I needed to do was put it together. The wheels are a good size and quality – it moves around easily.
One thing to note is that the base unit is black, but the top unit is not the same color – it's a dark grey. I didn't notice this before, and I thought it was a bit odd. It's not a dealbreaker for me, but it should be mentioned on the website so that buyers are aware.
The tool chest has two keys for each unit, and the drawers have a positive closing action. This means that when you close the drawers, the last little bit needs a little push as it fits with a snug feeling and not loose fitting. It's a good quality, double-skinned steel product that should last for a long time.
Overall, I'm really pleased with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone looking for this type of tool chest. I actually bought it for my son, who is in his second year of apprenticeship with a local car dealership, and he loves it too. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will stand the test of time.

Robert Tennant, Glasgow
SGS Engineering's Customer Service Let Me Down
I had a bit of a tough time dealing with SGS Engineering when my generator failed to start up properly back in August of 2019. I'd only really used it a couple of times a year, but when I tried it recently, it just wouldn't cooperate. I called up their customer service team and spoke to a lady named Ruby, but unfortunately, she kept on providing me with incorrect information over and over again.
After a month of trying to get help, I finally managed to get in touch with their General Manager, Dave Gordon. I had a chat with him about the issues I'd been experiencing with Ruby and he was genuinely appalled with the level of customer service I'd received. He offered to take the generator back and repair it for me, if it was at all possible.
At this point, things in my own life took a bit of a turn. My wife became seriously ill with cancer, followed by a burst water pipe in our lounge and then the COVID-19 pandemic hit. As you can imagine, my generator quickly became a low priority in amongst all of these other issues and I put it away and forgot all about it.
Fast forward to now and the recent storms had left us without power for days. I remembered the offer that Dave had made to repair the generator and so sent an email to SGS Engineering explaining the situation and asking if the offer still stood. Unfortunately, I received no reply. I followed up with a second email a few days later, which also went unanswered.
I then spoke to Ryan at SGS Engineering who advised that Dave was away at an exhibition until next week. Ryan couldn't seem to find my original email, so I sent it across again to make sure that it was received. I spoke to Ryan again to confirm it had been received and I was given a reference number.
But still, I heard nothing back. I rang up several times and spoke to various members of staff, but it seemed like no one was able to help me or even remember what was discussed previously. I was beginning to lose hope, and my frustration with the company was really starting to boil over.
I eventually managed to speak to another member of staff who told me he would leave a message on Dave Gordon's desk regarding my situation, but still, I heard nothing. By this point, I was completely fed up and decided to write some negative reviews on as many sites as possible and even considering writing to their CEO, Andy Wyatt, to express my disappointment with the way I'd been treated.
It's ironic really, that the same appalling level of service that Dave Gordon was so appalled about was now being matched by his own company. It's just so frustrating to try and get assistance when companies just don't seem to care at all.
Unsatisfactory Equipment and Customer Service from SGS: A Review
I recently purchased a 150lt compressor and an 8.1 kv generator from SGS, and unfortunately, my experience with these products has been less than satisfactory. The compressor, which I had only had for 4-5 weeks, was recommended to me by SGS for staining sheds and wood, and I was assured that it was a good fit for my needs. However, after using it for a couple of hours, I noticed that it had leaked oil all over the inside of my truck, which was frustrating. Then, a week later, the compressor developed a fault, and upon inspection, I realized that the head gasket had blown.
I contacted SGS customer service and was informed that the equipment I had purchased was not meant for my specific use, which was a confusing response considering that they had recommended it to me in the first place. After voicing my frustration, they agreed to send me replacement gaskets that I would have to repair myself. It was disappointing to spend so much money on equipment that was faulty so soon after purchase and required my own repairs.
When I asked to speak to a manager, I was contacted by a gentleman who dismissed my complaints and was rather condescending. It was disheartening that they were not willing to take responsibility for their faulty equipment and instead blamed me for not using it properly. I reminded them of their 30-day return policy, but they explained that it only applied if the equipment was not turned on and remained in its original packaging, which seemed unreasonable to me.
All in all, I would not recommend SGS for their compressor or generator because of the issues I encountered and the unsatisfactory customer service response. It is disappointing to invest in an England-based company and then be stuck with faulty equipment without any support from the manufacturer. My experience with SGS was frustrating, and I wish I had chosen to purchase from another company.
SGS Engineering: Quality Tool Drawers and Cabinets at Competitive Prices
I recently purchased some tool drawers and a separate cabinet from SGS Engineering as a Christmas gift for my son. I was pleased to see the item arrive quickly and without any damage. My son was overjoyed with the gift and couldn't wait to assemble it. The only downside we encountered was trying to get the cabinet out of the underneath cupboard. The handles on the cabinet kept catching and it took some effort to get it out, resulting in a few scrapes on the cabinet. However, this did not take away from my son's satisfaction with the product. The item is sturdy and well worth the price I paid for it. I would certainly recommend SGS Engineering based on my positive experience.
Looking at other reviews on Trustpilot, it's clear that many others also have had a positive experience with SGS Engineering. Customers praise the fast and efficient process when ordering and the excellent quality of the products. Some customers have mentioned items arriving without all the necessary accessories, but SGS Engineering quickly rectified the situation and provided excellent customer service. Overall, SGS Engineering seems to provide a great service and high-quality products at competitive prices. Highly recommended!
Disappointing Experience with SGS Engineering: Delayed Delivery and Poor Customer Service
I recently ordered a motorcycle lift from SGS Engineering UK Ltd on a Sunday, April 19th, 2020. Because I was informed that the item would be delivered between 3-5 working days, I did not opt for next day shipping. The next day, on Monday, April 20th, I reached out to customer services to confirm my order was on its way. I was assured that it was in stock and would be shipped via courier straight to me by April 24th, Friday.
On Tuesday, April 21st, I called customer services once more to check if the item was shipped, and they told me it would be done that day and that the courier would be in touch with me to arrange delivery. However, when I called the following day, Wednesday, April 22nd, and didn't receive a call from the courier, I was informed that the motorcycle lift should not have been on sale, as it was still being tested. At this point, I was very upset, as I had arthritis to deal with and had reserved time to work with friends and family on customer motorcycles.
Despite this, I tried to keep things cordial and suggested a partial refund or even next-day delivery as a way to make amends, but was told I needed to speak to the manager. I waited and waited, and no one called. On Thursday, April 23rd, I tried calling again, but was put on hold for over 25 minutes. I honestly did not appreciate having to chase after them instead of them keeping me informed about the status of my order as promised.
Friday, April 24th, arrived, and I was happy to receive a call from SGS, only to be told that they could not deliver the lift that day and it would arrive on Monday. I was happy with the honesty, but not happy that I couldn't trust what people were telling me about the delivery date. I had been getting different stories from everyone.
Eventually, my order was canceled and I'm awaiting my refund. I can't help but feel disappointed with the overall experience. They've failed to deliver the product I paid for, and still no word from management or the courier. I have tried to reach out again, but I haven't received a response. I do hope they can learn from this experience and make improvements.

Beware of SGS Engineering's Customer Service: A Disappointed Customer's Review
I recently purchased a generator from SGS Engineering less than two months ago. Unfortunately, the exhaust fell off, and it seems like other customers have experienced the same issue. I believe this may be a design flaw. However, after speaking with their customer service team three times, they seem to blame me for the product failure, despite it being less than two months old and only being used for a maximum of 30 hours.
The information they are using to blame me is on their website, but not in the operator's manual. This seems unfair to me, and I am disappointed in their customer service. Additionally, when I reached out to express my dissatisfaction with the product, SGS engineering threatened to sue me if I left negative comments online. This made me feel uneasy and taken aback.
In my opinion, SGS Engineering does not seem like a company I would like to deal with again. I believe they are vague and subjective with their warranties and promises. I suggest making your own decision based on my experience, but please be cautious when purchasing from this company as it may not meet your expectations.
Negative review of SGS Engineering: Poor Quality and Unsatisfactory Customer Service
I recently had an unpleasant experience with SGS Engineering, and I feel that it is important to share my experience to help others. At first, I purchased a machine from Stephill, but due to some issues, I decided to return the product to Stephill. However, I ended up buying the same machine from SGS Engineering at 240v. When I received the machine, I was disappointed to find that the choke lever was loose, and the welding of the frame was terrible. It seemed like they had run out of gas while welding, and then painted over the bad welding with bubbles in black.
Additionally, the stickers on the machine were lopsided, and the power plugs for running equipment were also fitted lopsided and screwed into tin, making it impossible to alter them. After complaining directly to Stephill about SGS, they gave me a partial refund of £250. Unfortunately, I had no choice but to keep the machine because I needed it urgently for work.
However, the last fortnight, I went to start the machine, and it took seven minutes to fire up. Considering that it is a £1500 pound generator with a Honda engine, this experience was incredibly frustrating. Moreover, the machine surges when using just 1/4 of the max power its rated for, indicating that Stephills alternator bolted on is also iffy.
After this experience, I would strongly advise against buying anything from SGS Engineering or Stephill. The quality of the machine I received was subpar, and their customer service was unsatisfactory. Overall, my experience with SGS Engineering was disappointing, and I would not recommend them to anyone. This is why I give them a -1 out of 10.
Terrible Customer Service and Faulty Product: My Experience with SGS Engineering
I got myself a 5 in 1 multi tool from SGS Engineering (https://www.sgs-engineering.com/gpm501-52cc-five-in-one-multi-tool) in August. I was really excited to use it for my DIY projects but my excitement was short-lived. In just two hours after I unpacked it, it stopped working. I was so disappointed! I tried all sorts of tricks and tips to start the engine, but nothing worked. I then contacted the company's customer service and they replied with an email that only told me how to start the engine. What a useless reply! And to insult me further, they claimed their products were similar in quality to Stihl. That's a joke! When I tried to reply to them after that, they didn't bother to acknowledge me at all. It was like they didn't care that I had a faulty product. I was so frustrated with their unprofessionalism that I decided to dispute the purchase with my credit card company. It's currently in the works.
Honestly, SGS Engineering has one of the worst customer services I have ever encountered. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone even if they were the last supplier of DIY equipment on earth. I think they are just after the money and don't really care about their customers or the quality of their products. If you're planning to buy from them, I suggest you think twice. You might find a better supplier that offers better quality products and better customer service.

Warning: Avoid SGS - They Sent Wrong Struts for BMW & Refunded Minus Postage
I recently made an order from SGS for a set of gas boot struts for my BMW 1 series. Upon arrival, I immediately fitted them to my car only to find that my boot wouldn't close! It stopped just short of latching with a heavy thud. Frustrated, I removed the new struts and compared them against the originals only to find that they were in fact longer. This discrepancy had caused the issue with my boot.
After exchanging a number of emails with SGS, they finally admitted their mistake and agreed to refund me. Although they refunded my payment, they excluded the small fee for postage totaling ?6.30. I found this rather frustrating and disappointing.
Having read similar reviews from other customers experiencing the same issue with this company, I strongly suggest you avoid them and purchase your goods from a more reputable company. Unfortunately, it seems they prioritize making more money over providing good customer service. I simply can't believe a company like SGS would pull such a low punch, but hey, these things happen.
If you are a potential customer of SGS, my advice is to think twice and research reputable alternatives. Don't be fooled by their enticing prices, it isn't worth the stress and hassle to receive incorrect parts. I learned this the hard way.
Extremely Disappointing Customer Service - My Experience with SGS Engineering
I have had the worst experience with SGS Engineering and would give them a rating of less than one star if I could. The customer service is extremely disappointing and they offer false information on a regular basis. The customer service team, in particular, is quite rude and unpleasant to deal with.
I purchased a generator from SGS Engineering and was initially told that it would take 3 to 5 business days for delivery. I paid extra for express shipping, but the company kept giving me excuses and eventually, I ended up waiting more than a month to receive my generator. Being based in the USA, I had to make hundreds of international phone calls, and still, they were unable to provide correct information.
When I finally received my generator, it was addressed to the wrong recipient, even though I had sent them all the necessary information multiple times. When I called them to address the issue, they kept transferring me to different support staff and no one was able to take responsibility for their mistake.
This was a very time-sensitive matter for me, but it seems like SGS Engineering failed to recognize that. I was very frustrated with the entire process, and it's safe to say that I will never be making a purchase through this company again.
Terrible customer service and wrong product recommendations from SGS Engineering, still no refund received
I recently had an experience with SGS Engineering, and it was not a positive one. I called their customer service line to ask for advice about purchasing a generator, but the sales guy who answered sounded very annoyed and dismissive. He ended up recommending the wrong generator for my needs, and I unfortunately transferred a thousand dollars to pay for it without realizing the mistake.
Later that day, I emailed SGS Engineering to confirm the dispatch of the generator, but I received no reply. When I called them to follow up, I was told that the generator had not yet been sent. I was very frustrated by this point and demanded a refund, which they agreed to.
However, it took four whole days for a delivery driver to arrive with the wrong generator in tow. Even though I had cancelled my order and asked for a refund, SGS Engineering still sent it to me, causing unnecessary delays and confusion.
When I finally received the generator, I called SGS Engineering again to inquire about my refund. But instead of helping me, the customer service representative accused me of trying to keep the generator and the money. I was shocked and taken aback by this insinuation. Despite repeatedly asking about my refund, I still haven't received it.
What's worse, I was willing to pay an extra ?300 for a better generator, but SGS Engineering refused to continue the dispatch even though they already had the wrong one on the way to me. They also never bothered to call me back, even though I left several messages on their answering machine.
Overall, my experience with SGS Engineering was terrible. I received rude, unhelpful customer service, poor sales advice, and a direct breach of my consumer rights. I am planning on reporting them to trading standards tomorrow morning, and I would advise anyone considering using their services to think twice.
Terrible experience with SGS - Do not recommend buying from them
I had a bad experience with SGS, and I do not recommend buying from them. Seriously, don't even think about it. I don't know how they are still in business with the way they treat their customers. They don't follow consumer rights or trading standards laws at all. And don't be fooled by the banner on their homepage that says "free returns" - that's a lie.
Their customer service is terrible and I had the misfortune of speaking with their "manager" - if you can even call them that. They took more than two weeks to process my refund, and only after I had to keep bothering them about it. Even worse, they lied to me about sending something out so I could return my purchase, saying that they wouldn't accept it otherwise. I had to buy it myself and pay for it out of my own pocket to be able to return the item.
The whole experience was a stressful nightmare from beginning to end. If you're thinking of buying something from SGS, don't bother. It's not worth it. Save yourself the headache and go somewhere else. And on top of all of this, I had to shell out over fifty pounds just to send the item back to them. It's an absolute waste. So, my advice? AVOID.
Poor customer service and misleading advertisement from SGS Engineering for cordless impact wrench
I purchased a cordless impact wrench for a whopping ?400 from SGS Engineering's website which was advertised with both a case and a bag. However, when I opened the box, the case was broken and covered in dust, leading me to believe that it's been sitting in SGS's warehouse for almost 3 years. This lack of attention to packaging quality suggests that the batteries could die sooner than expected. Additionally, I didn't receive the bag that they advertised. I contacted them via email and reported that I didn't get the bag and the case was broken, but their response was less than satisfactory. Apparently, they ran out of bags, so I got a case instead, without any prior notice. I couldn't understand why they would advertise a product with both case and bag but then only give a case. I even sent them a screenshot of the website showing the tool with a case and a bag, but they refused to give me the bag. They even asked for pictures of the broken case, which were already included in my initial email - clearly, they did not bother to read the content of my message thoroughly. SGS engineering should show a bit more concern for customers and at least reply, but, unfortunately, they seem to be ignoring my messages. I regret that I didn't choose another seller instead of SGS, which doesn't seem to care about delivering what they promise on their website. I won't be placing any further orders with them in the future since it's clear to me that they don't take customer service seriously.
Terrible Customer Service Experience with SGS Engineering: Delayed Replacement, No Delivery, and Poor Communication
I gotta say, I recently ordered a Milwaukee pack out system from SGS Engineering's website. It showed up next day delivery, which was pretty gnarly. But when I started unpacking the things, one of the sections was busted. Whack-a-doodle! So, I quickly hopped on my email machine to let the folks over at SGS know about the fault. But honestly, their response kinda made me go "you for real, bro?" They offered me a measly ?5 discount to keep a damaged item that I spent ?240 on! Can you believe that? So, I dipped on that offer and asked for a replacement instead.
They asked me to send a photo for proof of the damage, and I did so as soon as possible. They then told me to pack up the item and print the shipping label, which I did (at my own cost, mind you). I hopped back on my email to give them the news and they told me a courier (DHL) would roll through to pick up the wonky piece, and drop off the new one. So, I took a full day off work so that I could be there - but, what happens next? No DHL delivery or collection happened for me. I tried hitting up customer services a couple times through email, but it took them suuuuper long to get back to me. I finally called the sales team and they transferred me to the right place. There, the agent told me that the replacement wasn't even ready for delivery yet, even though I was previously told that it would be delivered that day. The replacement is still kicking it in their warehouse, man - not with me.
It says on their website that orders are dispatched next day, but apparently the same does not hold true for replacement items. I think it's a real bummer that I now have to wait until "some time next week" for this replacement to show up. I don't think I'll end up buying anything from SGS again - I'll find a more legit retailer that can provide some customer service that doesn't make me wanna smack my head against a wall.
Proceed with Caution: My Disappointing Experience with SGS
I've had some good experiences with SGS in the past, but my most recent order was a disaster. I had ordered a jack and axle stand combo, but when it arrived, it was not available. They did offer me an alternative, which was initially great, until I realized that it was only for the jack, and I had to pay an additional charge of ?16.67 + vat. I decided to check the website to see if I could get the jack and axle stands separately, and to my surprise, it was going to cost only ?20.39 extra. I contacted SGS and was connected with the person who was handling my case. They told me that I could get the axle stand and jack combo for around ?40, but I doubted it and asked to speak to a different team.
The new team confirmed that it was going to cost ?40 for the set I was looking for. When I showed them the price on my screen, they confirmed that I was indeed correct. If I had blindly trusted the initial offer, I would have been ripped off and considerably out of pocket. To make matters worse, I had to pay for the order twice, as the refund takes up to 7 days to process.
I wasn't happy with the situation, so I asked if they could throw in a set of rubber axle stand protectors to compensate me for my inconvenience. Unfortunately, they refused and didn't offer any additional customer satisfaction. Although I understand their position, I believe that a ?5.99 set of rubber protectors would have made a big difference to my overall experience.
The moral of the story is to always check for yourself, and don't blindly trust what you are told. Although SGS has been good to me in the past, this situation was a disappointment, and I would advise others to proceed with caution.
