Unauthorised money taken from my Credit Card
I have discovered unauthorised sums of £10 have been taken off my Credit Card for the past 3 months by Shopperdisc. I phoned them and they say they will refund the money and cancel my account, as I don't have an account and had never heard of them, I don't know how that will be possible, however seeing all the complaints here I am not hopeful.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
They dont refund my money
In October 2011 I ordered some train tickets from trainline and I was asked if I wanted £10 off my next ticket. So I agreed thinking it was part of trainline.
From 25 November 2011, until 16 June 2013, the company Shopper Discounts and Rewards, has debited £10 every month from my credit card, small amounts that pass unnoticed in my bank statements.
It appears that I am said to have signed up to this monthly debit at some point and am now a "member". I would not knowingly have done so and, so far as I am concerned, I have not. I have certainly not knowingly authorised the £10 monthly debit from my card account.
I contacted them by email and phone and this was their answer,
This email is confirmation that your membership with Shopper Discounts & Rewards has been cancelled as of the 20th June 2013.
Unfortunately we cannot process any refund as you successfully claimed the £15 cash back cheque. This cheque was processed towards the end of September 2011.
Your cancel confirmation number is: [protected]
What should I do in order to them refund all my money

Taking money from account
I note that people are having the same problem where £10.00 has been taken out of their account without their permission. I have contacted shopperdisc.co.uk and cancelled my 'membership' (i did not realise I was a member). Apparently I signed up for a 30 day free period but in the small print states I will be charged. I have never used the site itself. When I contacted them they agreed over the phone to give a three month refund and then send out a claim form to refund the rest. I do online banking without any statements and can see they have been taking £10 for nearly a year. On the phone they did say I could claim back the full amount but on the email with the claim form they state up to 6 months can be claimed. Has anyone claimed back the full amount or just the 6 months?
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.

Taking money out of my account without permission
Up-date on resolving my complaint by Shoppers Discount and Rewards
I recently submitted a complaint about Shoppers Discounts and Rewards taking money out of my account without my consent. I would like to state that I contacted them on the 6/4/2013 and on the 7/4/2013 I had a very adequate response from Mary O'Reilly who represents the company and who sorted my concerns out in an instant. On reflection I was very impressed on how my complaint was handled and the speed of which I had my money re-credited to my account. I cannot say the same for my bank whom I had contacted for several months and actually, I now believe miss informed me, in that they would write to Shoppers Discounts and Rewards to stop withdrawing money, but in fact it seems to never have happened. The message is "always do things yourself". If anyone ever notices that money has been withdrawn from their account make sure you find out who it is who has taken the money and then contact them yourself. Despite the fact that this whole situation has been unpleasant and disappointing I am nevertheless very happy at the way this problem has been resolved. Finally a word of advise for the less computer literate of us, always be careful what box you tick when they pop up on your screen and to whom you provide your bank details to. Mary clearly explained how I have apparently signed up to the scheme yet I had no knowledge of it at all.
All in all, it would have obviously been better if this had never happened but saying this I learned valuable lessons and most importantly that there is still excellent customer service. So once again, thank you Mary for representing Shoppers Discounts and Rewards in such a professional and competent manner.
Best wishes
Martha Sakulku
I believe this is theft when some one uses your credit card to take money monthly from your account. I ordered flowers for my Moms b-day and a thing came up to save $20.00 well since i pushed on that saving they have been taking money from my account. Where is the savings, no where did it say I would be charged for this.. Please Iam not going to pay $12.oo a month to save myself $20.00..
My credit card was charged for 12.00 and the charge was not arthorized. I can not reach them... Evelyn Dorris...Consumer
Four months of $12 charges on my American Express business card. Unauthorized charges of which I was unaware for a service or product I did not request.
Hi Martha,
Thank you for that information, I to have been the victim of this scam and have just canceled my membership and contacted the company asking for a full refund since I have apparently been a member since July 2011!

I am writing to complain about shoppers discount, I have no idea who they are and i have never knowingly signed up for any of there services. I called my credit card on several occassions and they stated that they had contacted the company several times but they are still taking ten pounds per months out of my account for no reason what so ever. They have...

When making a purchase from Argos, on line, a "pop up" appeared offering a loyalty discount. I believed this to be an Argos offer with discounts given on my orders - I did not realise it was from a different organisation, necessitating collecting vouchers, and submitting to Argos together with copies of receipts. As I live in an isolated community, one and a half hours drive plus a boat journey from any Argos store, this requirement meant that the discount scheme was not going to be much benefit to me. As all of the emails from Shopper Discounts and Rewards commence with the words "Benefit..." or "Members Benefit ...", and I don't want that sort of benefit, I did not bother reading them. Only now do I realise that having signed up to the Discounts offered, the offer was for Free Membership for one month only, and £10 a month taken from my Credit Card after that. Living away from home at present I did not see my Card statements, paying them off by D/D monthly, and the £10/month didn't significantly alter the expected totals. However, I did get the chance of seeing my latest statement and was alerted to the Shopper Discounts and Rewards having taken £10 this month, and when I checked, previous months. I fortunately kept the old emails and found a number to call and cancel. My complaints are 1) Shoppers Benefits and Discount do not make it clear that they are not connected with Argos when they "pop up", 2) that when the 30 days free Benefits expires not having been used the deal is not then automatically cancelled, 3) the Terms and Conditions which clarify that one has signed up for a 30 day free benefit only require one to "opt out" rather than "opt in" to continuing membership

If you are interested in seeing the sign up page you would have been presented you can find an almost identical one here:

Even if people don't read the full T's & C's you should at least read the short paragraph that's directly above the section where you put in your card details
FYI don't put anything into that form as it'll sign you up for a policy
Hello Mrs. Martin:
We are sorry if you did not realise that there was a charge for the Shopper Discounts & Rewards membership.
We strive to make our membership offers as clear as possible so that consumers can make an educated decision about our membership programmes. The charge for the membership is clearly detailed at the top of the membership registration webpage and there are six mentions of the monthly charges on the registration page. The terms and conditions make it clear that the membership is free for the first 30 days so that you can try out the programme and after that it costs £10 per month. Fourteen days prior to the end of the free trial period we send each member an email. This email reminds the member that their free trial period will be ending and that they will be charged the monthly membership charge if they do not cancel their membership before the free trial period ends. We also send monthly emails to members while their membership is active to remind them of their membership and the programme benefits. Members can cancel their membership at any time.
I hope this helps to address your query. If you would like me to provide you with more specific information on how you joined the Shopper Discounts & Rewards programme or if you need other assistance, please can contact me directly at mary@shopperdiscountsandrewards.co.uk.
Kind regards,
Mary

Taking money from my account.
I've recently discovered that on four separate occasions, this website has taken £10 from my account with NO authorization on my part.
Upon reading similar complaints, apparently the banks can do nothing to resolve this so I'm writing this to try and
a) Make it stop. Now.
b) To warn others.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Hi - I too fell victim this scam via Inteflora (although many other sites do this too). What happens is when you complete the purchase you get an offer of £15 off your next purchase, you complete the simple form and then bang they've got you - all in the small print.
However - FEAR NOT - this is simple to get all your money back.
Compose yourself, read the advice below, practice it and then do the following :-
Call them on [protected] (its free to call) and be polite but forceful. Tell them they have taken money illegally out of your account and you never subscribed to this service. Say "here's whats going to happen - you are going to refund all of my contributions by the end of today otherwise my solicitor will be writing to you first thing tomorrow morning". Don't let them speak or interrupt too much and try and derail you.
They will start by offering you 1 month's refund and then say you'll have to complete a claim form - again be direct and say "I didn't fill in any forms for you to steal my money so I'm not going to fill in any to get it back - if you can't refund my full amount please put me through to a supervisor who can".
I was put on hold for about 30 seconds and then the same operator said they could refund it all. 2 days later the money was put back into my account (and I had 18 months at £10 per month) - the whole £180 refunded straight away.
As I said - the key is to be confident, forceful but polite (don't swear or lose your temper).
Good luck - and I really hope this helps.
Remember - you're not to blame - I've got a university degree, work in the IT industry and use the internet every day and yet still fell foul of it.

Payments taken by deception

scam
I purchased an ARGOS item online for my brother in UK and was then offered a discount on future purchases - which I accepted as I thought my brother could benefit if he wanted to make further purchases from his local ARGOS store.
A month later I found my Mastercard had been charged 10 pounds for "membership" of a company [protected]@shopperdiscountsandrewards.co.uk
biller name: SHOPPERDISC.CO.UK
I wrote to ARGOS complaining - they accepted no responsibility whatsoever.
Still awaiting reply from SHOPPERDISC.CO.UK
You'll see from an online search that MANY others have has the same experience.
Laws need to change for customers to have any proper redress.
I doubt anyone has ever sought your website to become a member.
Like me they would simply purchase an item online and then be CAPTURED by you ### (a deal between seller and yourselves) with an offer of a discount on a future purchase. Not knowing they are dealing with immoral ### - and thinking it can do no harm - they give their credit details WHICH YOU SUBSEQUENTLY USE TO TAKE MONEY FROM THEIR ACCOUNT EVERY MONTH. Like I said - ###.
If I had my way you would all be in jail. Literally.

I also shopped at Argos I have been in hospital and shopperdisc so far have taken £80 out of my account wich I have never autherised since December last year! This is fraud and I am going to write to bbc watchdog program.
These people have recently taken £10 from my account after my partner bought an App from the Apple I-Store, no online subscription details were filled in, they simple stole my data from my I-Tunes account and charged me £10 for the theft.
Companies like this make me sick. I've already emailed requesting a refund and cancellation of any bogus subscription that they have setup.
I'm also going to email the I-store and Apple as these ripoff merchants need to be stopped. There is only one difference between these people and a mugger in the street a mugger would never be able to claim he was operating within the law.

I have referred this to the BBC program RIP OFF BRITAIN to hopefully get them investigated
Total thieving ### after a phone call today to cancel this so called membership that i had signed up to and i can tell you now that i did click the link for the voucher but as soon as i realised it was not from argos clicked the page off and that was it so i thought untill i noticed they had been taking £10 every month i did not fill out any online forms or set up any passwords so they must be capturing your data from the argos website
I'm not happy and have made a complaint to argos and i'm thinking about contacting the police
I received my £20 back from Shoppers Discount taken out of my bank account without permission, but this is not the point. At no time did I see Shoppers Discount mentioned on the Argos site. At no time was it made clear that they would have access to my bank account and be able to take money on a monthly basis. ARGOS should be ashamed of themselves for having Shoppers Discount as a preferred company, and when complaints are made by people who purchase goods through their online account, not to take up the issue with Shoppers Discount. I do not intend in future to purchase from Argos online. I just don't want the problems we have had this time. With so many people complaining about S.D., this must be a scam.
i also fell for this scam as i thought i was dealing with argos and was unaware there was monthly charge. as the terms and conditions are very small text. stupidly i thought i was paying for my item with argos. im amazed that argos would allow this scam to propagated on there web site. i will most defiantly NOT be shopping at argos again.
I also fell victim to Shopperdiscount. Bought something from Argos in November and found in December and January Shopperdiscount had taken £10 each month from my bank account. I contacted Argos - who were just not interested. So I contacted Shopperdiscount. After some discussion, I was promised they would refund my £20 within ten days. This was early in February and so far - no refund. How can any company such as Argos have them as their preferred company when they set up this type of scam. I will be dubious about shopping with Argos again and will be checking every piece of small print on anything else I buy online. ARGOS - TAKE NOTE - YOU ARE NOT MY PREFERRED SHOP!

Please get in touch with Shopper Discounts & Rewards directly using the following details: customerservice@shopperdiscountsandrewards.co.uk, [protected], or you can contact me directly at mary@shopperdiscountsandrewards.co.uk.
Shopper Discounts and Rewards is a savings programme for people who shop online regularly. The membership benefits include 10% cashback at over 650 online retailers, 20% off popular gift cards and a monthly cashback reward. It’s free for the first 30 days so you can try it out, and after that there is a monthly fee. Members can cancel their membership at any time.
The only way to become a member is to enter your details in full on the Shopper Discounts & Rewards sign-up page. The details required are: your name, your email address (twice), your postal address, a new password (twice) and your credit or debit card details for the monthly billing. It is mentioned in several places that following 30 days free membership, there is a monthly fee - hence why you are required to provide your credit/debit card details on the sign-up page. There is no other way of creating a membership but to provide your details in full.

I also have noticed two £10 payments to shopperdisc.co.uk. I have never heard of them and never agreed to sign up to them.
I called the helpline [protected] (available from their website) and spoke to someone who was very helpful and cancelled my "membership" and told me my money would be refunded within the next 10 working days.
I have received an email confirming this and am waiting to see if the money re-appears in my account.
I would suggest to all to call them as soon as possible and ask firmly for a refund.

We will be happy to assist you but we first need to identify your membership record which we currently have not been able to do.
We hope you contact us directly so that we can resolve your query to your satisfaction.
Kind regards,
Mary

I have just found out 2 days ago that shopper disc was taking out money of £10 from my bank account since last year January 2014 until now February 2015. I didn't had any idea how they get my bank details because I haven't signed any purchases from this website. So I called my bank and reported the name of the company and they cancelled the payment . But unfortunately they told me that there is no assurance to get back my money . What shall i do to get my money back ?

I have just had the same experience, and they have been taking £10 out of my account, I phoned them and she said I must have filled in a form when buying something online, and signed up to it, what a cheek, I do not recall ever signing up to this company as I've never heard of them at all. No mention of paying my money back just cancelling the membership which I never took out, this company are bloody thieves and getting away with it.
I do not know who you are and I want my money back. How this came about but I, m a pentioner your not very good if you do thing, s underhanded like that.
unauthorized payments
this company is taking £10 per month from my credit card
I have not knowingly subscribed to this
It is clearly an online scam

You are taking money from my account how the hell have u got my bank details I'm taking this further!
Unauthorised removal of money from bank
I have just noticed a £10 a month payment from my debit card to Shopper Discounts going back at least 6 months. (I can't currently check my account any further but will do so now that I am aware of this). I have never knowingly agreed to paying £10 a month for this "service" and I get no benefit from paying it. I may have logged onto the website and agreed to pay a single £10 membership when I purchased 1 item on a website but it was not made clear that there would be a regular monthly payment taken from my credit card and I would like to know how I can get my money back. It would appear I am not alone in being conned like this going by some of the comments I have seen on the website.
This company is taking money from my debit card (£10) monthly. I did not authorise them to do this.
THEY HAVE BEEN TAKING MONEY FROM MY ACCOUNT FOR SOME TIME BUT I DONT KNOW HOW TO CONTACT THEM AND I NEED THE MONEY.

money from bank account
After taking the plunge to start internet banking i have discovered that this company has been taking £10.00 a month from my account after ordering some perfume for an xmas present back in 2010, totally gobsmacked! have cancelled the DD and asked for a refund of my money, they are e-mailing me a refund form to complete, so bloody annoyed.
£10 as been taken out my bank with no permission.. I don't even no how this as happened because I do not give my bank details out.. I won't my money back in my account please. If this is not done I will take it further thanks.. Jordan
they have been taking £10 a month since 2009 after i ordered some clothes from m&m £350 robbed from my a/c thought it was
my daughters store card, even off an out of date credit card, complained and faxed form to GERMANY!? said only pay 3 instalments, but in dec 2012 in 2 wks paid £60 into a/c through out date card, spoke to big wigs re fraud and told that sometimes they can still remove moneys out a/c with out of date cards, WHAT!? so remember that folks, different rules for bankers, (not happy) going back now for rest £290 they still owe me, will let you know how i have got on, not holding my breath, robbery, never logged onto site never gave any hint i was interested in this scam, times are hard without this, i am afraid to order from m&m again, spend £250 with them each year, but not this year thank you, beware shopperdisc.co.uk, i am on a mission, for my money!, mr angry, john

po 9 mesiacocu som s hrozou zistila, ze s mojho bankoveho uctu mi kazdy mesiac odchadza 10 libier pre tuto nezmiselnu spolocnost .ktora takymto hnusnym sposobom kradne ludom peniaze bez toho aby o tom vedeli, pretoze ja so nic take od nikoho dobrovolne neziadala to by som musela byt blazon, preto vas ziadam o okamzite zastavenie stahovania smojho uctu a vratenie vsetkych penazi ktore ste odomna neopravnene zobrali, a tymto to este nekonci budem sa na vasu spolocnost stazovat na inych kompetentnych miestach a nemyslim ze budem jedina, lebo toto co robite je zverstvo, bez toho aby ste niekomu dali vediet si jednoducho dovolite siahat na cudzie peniaze, to je vrchol
