ShopSmarter Review: The Ultimate Cashback Website for Online Shoppers
As an occasional online shopper who tends to purchase expensive electronic gadgets, I stumbled upon ShopSmarter while browsing through Walmart's website. At first, I was hesitant to sign up as it required my credit card information. However, after reading their terms and conditions, I realized that it's similar to other websites providing services, such as Amazon Prime or HBO.
So, I decided to give it a shot and made a couple of big purchases on Best Buy. Luckily, during one of the long weekends, ShopSmarter had a promotional 20% cashback offer, wherein I bought a DSLR camera worth $2300. And whoa, when the pay date arrived, I received a prompt cheque of $460! I was elated.
If you're a regular online shopper, ShopSmarter is a great website for you, though it comes at a nominal monthly fee. Plus, if you're planning for significant purchases, the website usually runs a 20% cashback promotion during vacation time/holidays or long weekends on various brands on their site, such as Best Buy, Staples, Macy's, and more. So, if you have the luxury to plan ahead, you could be rewarded with an additional 10%.
It's essential to keep checking their website regularly around long weekend/holiday times to be aware of the 20% cashback promotion period, although even a 10% cashback is delightful for frequent online shoppers. However, it's wise to do a bit of math before becoming a member and paying the monthly fee. Take note that ShopSmarter has payout dates every quarter. So, if you're making a purchase worth $250 and expecting $25 cashback, and you're paying $30 for the Jan-Mar monthly fee, you might not be gaining anything.
However, if your purchases are more than the monthly fees, it's an excellent deal. In conclusion, ShopSmarter is a reliable website worth checking out, particularly for significant purchases.
Poor customer service experience with ShopSmarter supervisor's rude behavior
ShopSmarter (shopsmarter.com) has helpful customer service from their team members, but there is one supervisor who stands out due to consistently rude behavior. The reviewer recalls the supervisor's name because of the unkindness shown during interactions. After following up on a months-long issue, the first time speaking to the supervisor was unproductive, and instead, the reviewer felt dismissed and belittled. Despite the supervisor insisting that the team had already reached out to the reviewer by phone, no phone call, email, or any reply had been received. Several weeks went by without any communication until the reviewer called again and was transferred to the same supervisor, who once again insisted that the team had already reached out by phone and didn't take responsibility for anything.
Eventually, the reviewer asked to be transferred to a different supervisor and also contacted corporate. The second supervisor, along with corporate, were extremely helpful and professional, handling the issue right away. Unfortunately, the negative impression left by the first supervisor remains and may impact the reviewer's future use of ShopSmarter. The reviewer stresses the importance of friendly customer service and effort, especially after weeks of follow-ups without a response. While helpful team members were present, the behavior of one supervisor has eroded some trust and confidence in the brand.
Review: Disappointing Experience with Shopsmarter's Cash Back & Bonus Offer
Recently, I came across an offer from Shopsmarter while I was checking out my Walmart cart. According to the offer, I could get 10% cash back and a $20 joining bonus if I joined Shopsmarter. I was excited to take advantage of this offer since my cart totalled to $310.
After joining, I received three emails confirming my $20 bonus. However, two days later, I received an email stating that my bonus was approved, but I would have to wait five weeks to receive it. This certainly wasn't what I expected and I was left feeling disappointed.
To make matters worse, I reached out to the customer service team to inquire about my 10% cash back. To my dismay, they informed me that my initial purchase wasn't eligible for cash back. I felt deceived since I was under the impression that I would receive cash back on my entire purchase. This meant that Shopsmarter had cheated me of $11 while promoting their $20 bonus.
I decided to purchase two more items from the website, both totaling $300, in hopes of receiving the cashback. Sadly, nothing appeared in my account.
I had to pay $1.97 in trial fees and an additional $10 for the first month's subscription fee, only to receive my joining bonus five weeks later with no sign of any cash back.
I reached out to Samantha from Shopsmarter for help. However, I received no resolution as she kept repeating the rules, which were unclearly communicated on their website.
It was clear that Shopsmarter did a poor job of communicating the rules to its customers and used this tactic to their advantage. They offered a joining bonus but took away any chance of cash back on the initial purchase, leaving me with a feeling of disappointment.
ShopSmarter Review: A Potential Resource for Avid Shoppers to Save Money
I recently signed up for a 7-day trial with ShopSmarter (shopsmarter.com) and so far, I haven't encountered any deceitful practices. Although, I must admit that there were some sneaky elements to their service that I should have looked into more closely before signing up.
As they clearly state, there is a membership fee; however, they failed to mention that the trial would cost me $1.97. When I contacted their support team to inquire about the costs, the representative was very helpful and informed me that after the trial period, there would be a recurring monthly charge of $9.97. While this may sound like a lot, it's important to break down what you're getting in return.
ShopSmarter offers a 10% cashback on purchases made at their partnered stores, which include major retailers such as Home Depot, Walmart, and Dunkin Donuts. Given that we're currently in the holiday shopping season, I plan on making a few purchases that could easily earn me the $10 monthly fee back. With a 10% reward on a $100 purchase, I'd only need to spend $100 through ShopSmarter in order to break even with the monthly fee.
While I'm not sure I'll be spending that much every single month, I think this service would be ideal for frequent shoppers. If, after some time, I find that I'm not shopping enough to cover the monthly fee, I can always cancel my membership and continue to shop through other free services that offer similar cashback percentages.
Overall, I think ShopSmarter has the potential to be a great resource for avid shoppers looking to save a little extra money. However, I'll be sure to update my review if my experience with them changes in any way.
ShopSmarter Review: Misleading Advertising and Customer Service Issues
When it comes to reading the fine print carefully, there's no surprise that many people feel frustrated and angry with ShopSmarter. It's not necessarily their fault, though - the $10 cash reward advertisement is placed in the same colors and font as Walmart's website, leading many to believe that this offer is coming directly from the trusted retail giant. Unfortunately, ShopSmarter seems to be banking on the fact that many people won't read the fine print and will sign up for the service without fully understanding what they're getting themselves into.
Despite feeling generally uneasy about the way ShopSmarter promotes their service, some customers may still find that they can come out ahead by making a certain amount of purchases each year. However, after digging through some of the negative reviews, it's clear that some users have experienced major issues when using the service. For example, some big purchasers have found themselves suddenly locked out of their accounts, with their purchase history disappearing or requiring extensive documentation to prove their authenticity. Other users have reported that executives on the back-end seem to be playing around with accounts, systematically canceling accounts with balances just above a certain threshold.
Ultimately, it seems that while ShopSmarter may be able to happily bill those who sign up without fully understanding the terms of the service, those who do use it may be in for a bumpy ride. Thank goodness for Sitejabber and other review sites that can provide valuable insights into the experiences of other customers before we spend our hard-earned money.
ShopSmarter Review: Former User Claim Shady Business Practices
ShopSmarter is an online service that claims to save you money by offering cashback from retailers. However, a former user of the service claims to have experienced a number of issues with ShopSmarter. The individual in question is a relative of a 2016 Presidential candidate. They stated that they used the service frequently but experienced problems in the form of commissions not being paid out by ShopSmarter. The user insisted that the commissions had been approved by the relevant retailers and paid to ShopSmarter, but the company made excuses not to pay them. The user then had trouble accessing their account, and upon contacting ShopSmarter was told that there was a billing issue with their card. The company closed the account and assured the user they were processing payment for outstanding commissions. However, the user later tried to use the service again but could not see their old purchase history. They then received an email stating that they had multiple accounts and as a result, would no longer receive any money from ShopSmarter. When they spoke to the company, ShopSmarter informed them that the same email address had been used for multiple accounts, which was not the user's fault. However, despite this, they made excuses not to pay. ShopSmarter claimed that the user had made too many purchases on the same day from one retailer and that the service was only for personal use. The user argued that they had private accounts with the retailer and could buy what they wanted. They suggested that if ShopSmarter had accepted payment from the merchant, they should pay the consumer who made the purchase, regardless of whether it violated ShopSmarter's terms and conditions. The user stated that if ShopSmarter did not want to pay the consumer, they should not accept payment from the merchant either. ShopSmarter has now requested the user to provide evidence of their purchase history, but this is proving to be a hassle, as many of the emails have been erased. The user further expressed concerns about privacy and the fact that orders made on their account came from a Presidential candidate. Overall, it seems like this user has had a negative experience with ShopSmarter and has encountered issues with commissions not being paid out and being accused of having multiple accounts.
ShopSmarter Review: A Hassle-Filled Cash-Back Experience
ShopSmarter is a cash-back website that claims to provide easy and convenient access to discounts, rebates, and other promotions from its participating retailers. However, my experience with this service was far from satisfactory. To be fair, I did receive a small portion of the cash-back amount that I was owed, but the process was riddled with issues and frustrations.
After joining the platform, I noticed several purchases that were not listed as having been made. When I contacted customer service, they assured me that I would be 'fast-tracked' to a solution. However, I spent a considerable amount of time copying and sending various purchase details as per their instructions, only to have them denied without any specific reason.
I remember at one point, I had to send about 5-6 separate purchases at their request only to receive a blanket denial. The representative even acknowledged that my situation was odd. Nevertheless, I persisted in providing all the required receipts and documentation, but to no avail.
The last communication I had with them was unhelpful, to say the least, and revealed their failure to cancel my account and instead billed me another $10.00! The response seemed like a cop-out, as they kept insisting that they could not track certain purchases because their retailer partners failed to report them.
I pointed out that many of my transactions were made through sites I had never even heard of, and if a return was made, I explicitly noted it. I expressed my frustration, and my wife even concurred that it was not worth the cost.
Therefore, I had to cancel my subscription, and I would not advise anyone to use ShopSmarter. The reviews by others about the poor quality of the service are legitimate, and the platform seems too good to be true. The entire process was a hassle, and I only received $3.00 after paying $10.00. Please be careful not to fall for their false promises.
ShopSmarter.com Review: A Fraudulent Platform That Takes Advantage of Shoppers - Time for a Class-Action Lawsuit!
ShopSmarter.com seems to be a great shopping portal site, but unfortunately, that is not the case. The platform claims to offer shoppers up to 10% cashback on their purchases, but once they notice that you are a frequent spender, they will lock your account and accuse you of shopping for business purposes, which they say is not allowed on their site. This is completely unacceptable as there is no clear warning or clause when signing up for membership with the platform.
What's even worse is that they will let you keep browsing and shopping for up to three months, all while collecting membership fees from you, and only flag and lock your account when it's time for a payout. This is a clear indication that they are trying to avoid paying the cashback that their members are entitled to. To make the matter worse, once your account is locked, you won't even be able to access the record of purchases you've already made.
Even if you provide proof of your purchases that you are not buying for business use, they will find another excuse to avoid paying you. This is not only unfair but a total scam, and it is unacceptable that they keep members' money without following through on the promised cashback.
It's high time for those who have been misled and victimized by this fraudulent platform to come together and demand justice. We need to launch a class-action lawsuit against ShopSmarter.com to ensure we get what we are rightfully owed. If you've been tricked by this site, please get in touch with me directly at ***@yahoo.com, and let's fight against these culprits.
It's sad that a platform that is supposed to make shopping easier for people is instead taking advantage of them. It's essential to shine a light on fraudulent schemes like this and make sure that they are held accountable for their actions.
Shopsmarter Review: Is the 10% Cash Back Worth the Membership Fee?
If you're an avid online shopper always looking for ways to save money, Shopsmarter might sound like the perfect solution. They offer 10% cash back on everything you buy online from a variety of well-known retailers - what could be better than that? Unfortunately, the devil's in the details, and the fine print will quickly kill the deal for most people.
First and foremost, in order to enjoy the benefits of Shopsmarter, you'll need to subscribe to a $10 per month membership. That's right - if you want to save money, you first have to spend it. To recover the cost of your membership, you'll need to purchase at least $1200 in merchandise through websites carefully linked via Shopsmarter browser screens.
As if the steep membership fee isn't enough, there are also numerous ways in which your purchase can easily fail to qualify for the cash back discount. This is where the fine print really comes in to play, and it's easy to make simple mistakes that will end up costing you money.
While the idea of getting 10% cash back is certainly attractive, it's not at all worth it when you factor in the high cost of membership and the complicated requirements for qualifying for the discount. And given how many retailers offer free shipping, price matching, and other incentives to online shoppers, it's hard to justify spending more money and jumping through hoops just to save 10%.
It's especially frustrating that Shopsmarter doesn't make their membership fee clear upfront - in fact, you won't find out how much it costs until you're asked to input your credit card information. The lack of transparency is off-putting and suggests that Shopsmarter isn't being entirely upfront with its target customers.
In the end, we can't recommend Shopsmarter as a good option for savvy online shoppers. The high cost of membership, combined with the complicated requirements for qualifying for the cash back discount, make it a bad deal in terms of both dollars and cents.
Beware of ShopSmarter: Violated and Misled as a Customer
I recently had a very negative experience with ShopSmarter and their service that left me feeling violated and taken advantage of. Despite using online rebate services for over a decade without any issues, my experience with ShopSmarter was quite different.
I was enticed to use their service when a pop-up appeared on the Walmart website offering me a 10% discount through their website. Though I was hesitant to enter my card information for automatic monthly membership fees, the introductory offer of a $10 reward after my first purchase convinced me to give them a chance. I tried their service from September to October 2016, receiving my $10 reward and feeling satisfied with the service. I used their sign-up page to enroll again on October 19, 2016, eager to take advantage of their rebates for the holiday season.
I had a great experience using their service for two months, but on December 13, 2016, I was suddenly unable to access my account and customer service informed me that my account had been cancelled due to "business use." Despite my insistence that it was a personal account with a history of personal purchases, their response was not satisfactory and I was never able to get a clear answer as to why my account was cancelled when it was.
I reached out to customer service and even submitted a complaint form to try to get to the bottom of it, but each response I received was like an automatic reply stating that I had violated their policy of one membership per household. Despite explaining that there were only two adults in my household and only I had an account, I was not able to get a reasonable explanation for why my account was cancelled without warning or explanation and only after I had reached their rewards limit.
I still haven't received direct responses to my specific questions from ShopSmarter regarding why my account was cancelled when it was or why there was no option to reopen it if I decided that the service was trustworthy after all. Though I have been refunded my membership fees, I am not able to access my rewards that were earned through my purchases.
Overall, I believe that ShopSmarter's procedure is not legal and certainly not fair to its customers. Though they state in their terms that they cannot be sued for not awarding earned rebates and their maximum annual rebate is only $1000, I believe that this policy is unethical and it does not give customers the rewards that they have earned.
ShopSmarter Complaints 12
Was signed up without my knowledge - will not refund my money.
ShopSmarter is a con. I clicked a $10 off coupon while shopping on Bed Bath and Beyond Canada, and was apparently signed up. I didn't notice the charge on my CC statement for a long time, and as a result I'm out over $400 CAD! They would only refund the last 4 months I paid, probably because they know I can ask my credit card company to reverse charges 4 months back. I never used the service (because I wasn't aware I had been signed up) but they are keeping my money. Total fraud.
Desired outcome: Full refund off all the monthly membership fees I was charged.
ShopSmarter Review: Decent Option for Saving Money, But Watch Out for Missing Cashback
I recently tried out ShopSmarter and wanted to share my experience with others. Overall, I found the process to be pretty straightforward. I logged into the site and clicked on the retailer I wanted to shop at. I made sure that the click showed that I was registered with ShopSmarter and then proceeded to add items to my cart and checkout as instructed.
However, I did run into an issue with missing cashback on one of my purchases. I reached out to ShopSmarter and they responded with a request for documentation regarding my inquiry. They asked for the full detailed order confirmation page of my purchase, which included the order number, order date, items purchased, fees, taxes, and purchase total. I sent this information along and waited for a response.
Eventually, I heard back from ShopSmarter regarding my cashback purchase. Unfortunately, the retailer had reported the purchase as "Transaction is credited to another affiliate." This meant that the purchase was not directly connected to ShopSmarter, or the connection was lost in the process of making my purchase.
I was disappointed to hear this, especially since it seemed to happen more often with larger purchases. It was frustrating that I had no way to prove that I did everything correctly and had no say in the matter.
Overall, I think ShopSmarter is a decent option for those looking to save some money while shopping online. However, it's important to keep in mind that missing cashback can happen and there may not be much you can do about it.
ShopSmarter Review: Disappointing Experience with Sudden Account Closure and Lack of Communication
ShopSmarter is a subscription-based cash back website that offers a promising 10% cash back on purchases made through their website. As a curious consumer, I signed up for an account and opted for their paid subscription. I made my first large purchase and received confirmation that I will be receiving the cash back rewards in the following days. A week later, I tried to access my account to make another purchase and was shocked to find out that my account was stated as non-existent. I received no notification about this sudden lapse in my account and felt very disappointed about what was happening.
Desperate for answers, I contacted ShopSmarter's customer service, and to my chagrin, I was put on two long holds before finally reaching a representative. She informed me that my account had been closed down by the main office and that there was no clear explanation provided. This left me wondering why this happened and whether my personal information was compromised somehow.
I inquired about the cashback rewards that I had already signed up for and was relieved to hear that I would still be receiving them. However, my confidence in the company was shaken, given the sudden closure of my account with no explanation. I am currently waiting for follow-up communication from ShopSmarter, but it has been a while, and I haven't received any emails or phone calls.
In conclusion, my experience with ShopSmarter has left me feeling scammed and disappointed. I urge others to stay away from this company and exercise caution when sharing personal information online. It's not worth the risk of being taken advantage of.

Thrilling Plot and Stellar Performances: A Review of The Insider (1999)
I was on Walmart.com purchasing a computer and this link popped up. Since it was through Walmart, I filled in my name and information. I did realize that I was going to be charged $12/month to use this site for shopping online. It wasn't very clear. They had charged the card I used to buy the computer from Walmart for about 9 consecutive [protected]@ 12/month. I did not realize this because the account they charged was an Amex Prepaid Card that I had opened ONLY to save money for Christmas Presents. Come Christmas time, all my money in the account was gone. I called and finally figured it all out but they still charged my card. Finally I had to cancel my entire card for fear they would keep doing it. I called today to talk to a manager and the rep wouldn't put a manager on because 'there's nothing I can't help you with." Seriously? She could care less. She said 'well I dont know how we could have charged you $120 because it's only $9/month. Well, YOU DID charge me- at $12/month not $9! It was useless talking to her. I did not use this site ever! Even when I purchased the computer, there was no discount I received and I don't shop online ever other than this computer I bought on Walmart. She really could care less. VERY SNEAKY
Beware of ShopSmarter: Poor Customer Service & Risk of Account Cancellation
Initially, I thought highly of ShopSmarter and appreciated the way they rewarded me with cashback for my purchases. However, as I began spending tens of thousands of dollars on remodeling my new home, I noticed a change in their behavior towards me.
Unfortunately, my trust in the company was shattered when Lowes.com canceled some of my orders, which led to ShopSmarter's automatic cancellation of my account. I strongly contested their decision and asked if they had contacted Lowes for clarification before making such a drastic decision. To my disappointment, they didn't even bother to verify my explanation.
As a forensic accountant, I believe that the company may be selectively eliminating customers who don't generate enough net profit for them. Thankfully, I have been using cashback retailers for over a decade, and I've learned that there are better, cheaper alternatives that match or even exceed ShopSmarter’s rates.
For anyone looking for similar services without the hassle and risks of dealing with ShopSmarter, free alternatives like BeFrugal, Rakuten, Retailmenot, Giving Assistant, RebatesMe, iBotta exist. Additionally, Cashbackholic.com is an excellent search engine to compare cashback rates among different sites.
In summary, I strongly suggest that you do your research before making any purchases or decisions involving ShopSmarter. I've learned from my experience that there are better options out there, and you don't have to settle for poor customer service and the risk of losing your account due to unfounded accusations of fraud.
ShopSmarter Review: A Fraudulent Company That Takes Advantage of Customers with Hidden Fees
Let me share my experience with ShopSmarter, an online shopping service that promises discounts on various products. I made an online purchase from Walmart in June and received a $10.00 promotional discount on my order, which was delivered on time and in excellent condition. However, four months later, I noticed that $12.95 was being charged to my card every month by ShopSmarter.com.
I immediately contacted their customer service and was told that I had signed up for their service during a "try a week for free" promotion, but I had failed to cancel the subscription. This was news to me because I had never knowingly signed up for their service or used it. I demanded a refund of my money, but the agent said that the cancellation process would take time.
After several days of waiting with no refund, I contacted my bank and received four temporary credits of $12.95 back into my account. However, three weeks later, I noticed that ShopSmarter had caused a credit reversal for three months of membership fees. This was unacceptable, and I contacted my bank again to inquire about the matter. The agent reviewed my records and found something dubious. She informed me to call back the next day and speak with her supervisor, which I intend to do.
In my opinion, ShopSmarter is a fraudulent company that preys on innocent shoppers. They make false promises, take advantage of customers, and charge hidden fees. I caution anyone who plans on using their service to think twice and read the fine print carefully. Don't fall for their deceitful tactics and end up regretting like I did. Stay vigilant and avoid being a victim of a scam.
My Frustrating Experience with ShopSmarter: Account Closed with Over $1,000 in Cash Back Rewards Owed
I recently had a very frustrating experience with ShopSmarter. I had been a member for a few months and had been paying my monthly fee on time. By January 15, 2017, they were supposed to arrange payment for my Cash Back, but to my surprise, they closed my account without giving me any advance notice. This was incredibly frustrating since I had accumulated over $1,000 in Cash Back rewards, and they were now denying me payment.
What's even worse is that they keep collecting member fees without any intention of paying the money back. As a consumer, I felt cheated and taken advantage of. I have evidence of all of my Cash Back receipts, so there's no reason they shouldn't pay me what they owe me.
ShopSmarter claimed I had two accounts, but I only had one. The first account was canceled because they couldn't charge my credit card on August 24, but the second account I registered was charged monthly as my legal account.
If they are claiming I opened two accounts, then why wasn't my first account charged a monthly fee, and why only charge one account from October 21? Regardless, as a paid member, whatever account they charged the monthly fee to should be considered my legal account.
When I tried to contact customer service, I was repeatedly given the run around and did not get a satisfactory answer. Samantha was the person who responded to my emails, but she couldn't help me either.
It's very disheartening as a customer to feel as though I'm being manipulated and lied to by a company I thought I could trust. I hope ShopSmarter can rectify this issue soon and pay me what they owe me.
Disappointing Experience with ShopSmarter: A Clear Red Flag for Fraudulent Activity
I recently had a disappointing experience with ShopSmarter, an online shopping service. After noticing a charge of $12.95 on my debit card, I was informed that the charge was related to a supposed sign-up I had made through Walmart. Upon reflection, I remembered encountering frequent pop-ups for ShopSmarter during a recent purchase on Walmart's website. In my attempts to close out the windows, I may have unknowingly clicked on some sort of sign-up offer.
As someone who does not frequently shop online, I would not purposefully sign up for this type of service. I have made numerous attempts to get in touch with ShopSmarter, but all 800, 866, and 888 numbers associated with them appear to be perpetually busy - not even allowing me to leave a message. This lack of communication is a clear red flag that this company may be involved in fraudulent activity. I am currently disputing all charges with my bank.
Walmart.com has denied any affiliation with ShopSmarter, but I find it concerning that they were able to obtain my email address and bank account information through my recent purchase with Walmart. I have also left a comment on ShopSmarter's website but have yet to receive a response from their team. It's extremely frustrating when companies claim to respond within 24 hours, but fail to follow through.
Overall, I'm incredibly disappointed with my experience with ShopSmarter and wouldn't recommend their service. This is why I am hesitant to shop online, and I hope others can learn from my experience. If I could give them a 0 star rating, I would.
Review: Is ShopSmarter a Legit Rewards Program?
Upon browsing Walmart.com, I came across a banner promoting ShopSmarter (shopsmarter.com) and decided to check it out. As the world's largest retailer, the fact that Walmart is directly promoting ShopSmarter to its customers gave me confidence that it is a legitimate website and rewards program.
I noticed that there were numerous negative reviews about ShopSmarter, with many people claiming that they were charged without their consent. However, when I tried signing up, the website clearly stated that there is a no-cost 7-day trial period. It also mentioned that if I decide not to continue the membership, I can cancel by logging in. If I decide to continue, I will be automatically billed $12.97 every month, which I can cancel at any time. It asked for my credit card details, but I read through the terms carefully before providing my details. Therefore, anyone who signs up without reading the terms carefully and blindly giving away their credit card details is at fault.
Having said that, I am giving ShopSmarter three out of five stars because they do not fully disclose that it takes six weeks to receive the introductory $10 cash back bonus. I would appreciate it if they were more transparent in their communications. Additionally, I think they should make it more obvious that they are a subscription service on their website.
In conclusion, even though ShopSmarter may have some sneaky business practices, I believe they are legitimate. Just be sure to read the terms and conditions carefully before signing up, and decide if the benefits outweigh the fee.
Shady Practices: My Disappointing Experience with ShopSmarter's "Free" Trial and Rebate Offer
I recently signed up for the free trial on ShopSmarter's website and was disappointed to find out that they charged me $1.97 to my credit card without my permission. This is not what I would consider to be a "free" trial at all, and it left me with a bad taste in my mouth right from the start.
To make matters worse, when I tried to get the $10 back that they promised for my current purchase, I found that there were no clear instructions on how to do so. I took a screenshot of the email they sent me that promised this rebate, but there was no email address or other information on their website to send it to. It felt like I was being deliberately misled, and it left a sour taste in my mouth.
When I wrote to their customer service to ask for help, I got no response at all. I eventually found a button that I thought would allow me to cancel my membership, but instead of canceling, it apparently signed me up for an additional $10 charge. This was especially frustrating because I had explicitly given them permission to bill ZERO dollars to this card, and their terms stated that they would send me a $10 check for my Walmart online order as well.
Overall, I feel like ShopSmarter is engaging in shady business practices. They charged me without permission, misled me about how to get my rebate, and then didn't respond when I tried to get help. I would caution anyone who is thinking about using their service to think twice and consider other options instead.
ShopSmarter Review: Lack of Transparency and Poor Customer Service Not Worth the Risk
at all costs. ShopSmarter may seem like a great deal at first glance, but the lack of transparency and poor customer service is not worth the potential reward. I had previously used their services and experienced no issues until a payment method needed to be updated. However, when I recently made a large purchase through their site and did not receive confirmation of my cash back, the customer service experience was appalling. After providing evidence of the purchase, I was told that I would receive the cash back credit within 2-8 weeks if there were no issues from the vendor. However, as the 8 week period came to a close, I found myself unable to log into my account. After speaking with customer service and a supervisor, I was told that my account had been closed due to "unique circumstances" and that they had found multiple accounts under my email address. This explanation made no sense, as I had only recently reopened my account with updated payment details using the same email address. The timing of the investigation leading to account closure and the end of the wait period for my cash back claim seemed too coincidental to be genuine. Overall, I would not recommend using ShopSmarter, as their lack of communication, transparency, and trustworthiness makes their services far too risky.
Disappointing Experience with ShopSmarter's Customer Service: A Review
I had the opportunity to try out ShopSmarter (shopsmarter.com) with their seven-day trial, and unfortunately, it was not the best experience. Although I canceled my account before the trial was over to avoid getting charged, I still had a question about getting my credit for my first purchase. When I asked the customer service representative who canceled my account, he told me that I would receive the credit but did not explain how to claim it or if I had to initiate the process.
Regrettably, I missed the follow-up email with instructions on how to claim my reimbursement until after I canceled my account and tried to log back in, only to find out that it was locked. Since I was told that I would still receive the credit, I thought that the customer service representative had taken care of it on their end.
However, when I did not receive the credit, I called customer service again, hoping to get some guidance on how to proceed. Unfortunately, they could not help me since my account was locked, and they directed me to ShopSmarter's customer service for assistance. After emailing their customer service, I was told that too much time had passed for me to receive the reimbursement.
The lack of communication and unhelpful customer service were a disappointment. Although I was initially under the impression that I would receive the credit, I was not able to receive it and had to settle for getting back the $1.97 I paid for the trial. Even after back-and-forth communication, I was not able to get the reimbursement check for my purchase.
In conclusion, my experience with ShopSmarter was not positive. I would have appreciated clearer communication and more helpful customer service to avoid the confusion and frustration that I encountered.
