I went to my local sizzler at norcot road reading on 23/8/18 for a lunch with work colleagues, I had I side of macaroni cheese, I had a few mouthfuls and then gave it a stir, I saw something brown in there, so I took it out with my fork and put it on a napkin and to my horror it was a piece of cardboard, I went and found a member of staff and he was a young lad a new member of staff, he was very apologetic and took it to show the kitchen staff, I was offered a sorry and a refund, that was the end of the issue, I feel very disappointed as the service up there since the change of manager, is very dispointing I was hoping thing would improve once a new manager but this doesn't seem to be happening
service
Hi
I have visited the pub on Reading on Henley Road on Tuesday 07/08. We sat outside on 8.15pm and we order only drinks and something to share. On 8:58 we went inside to order our main dishes and sides, waiting another customer to be served and on 9pm we request from waiter to order our dishes but he said the kitchen is closed. I asked the reason as outside there is a big sign that they serve food until 10pm (otherwise we could order earlier) but said that the policy been changed last week and now kitchen is close 9pm. I said ok now it is 9pm it is not 9.01, so we can order but he said that he cant served food and when he was not aware about the sign outside
How they cant serve food on 9pm when kitchen is closed 9 pm?
Why they have not changed the big sign outside?
REALLY disappointing as we left without been served, no reason to buy drinks and shares. Definitely their fault but customer service as they could keep the customer happy but seemed that they didnt care to keep us happy
Accusation
On entering the two brothers pub Southampton yesterday my husband and i saw a girl crying outside as she had been accused of taking a £20 that had been placed on the bar, we then sat at our table to have some lunch about 20 mins into this the landlord andy came over to my husband and asked if he had picked anything off the floor as apparently he see my husband pick something off the floor so basically was wrongy accusing him of taking the money which infact was a barmat he was taking off the floor.i think this is disgusting the way this was dealt with because he didnt say it quitly either came to our table where we were eating and everyone heard it, so by the time they actually found out who took the money two people were wrongly accused and stressed out and the whole pub knew about it, i work in a shop and i know that unless you are 100% the cctv is confidential and should only be used in police evidence..
meals not available and dire staff shortages
I visited The Three Horseshoes pub at 5.00 today with my husband for a meal. I tried ordering two meals but my choices were not available as the kitchen has run out of an ingredient. This is fairly amazing as there is Tesco Superstore across the road!
We then ordered two desserts and waited and waited and waited. After 40 minutes we were told that they had run out of an ingredient for the desserts too.
I must stress that the waitress, who was alone, was doing her level best to serve at the bar, deliver meals and issue refunds.
To say that this pub is poorly managed and staffed is an understatement.
bad food... not cooked correctly
Ordered 2 rare steaks and 2 blue steaks. All steaks were well done; not rare and not blue.
My steak in particular could not be eaten as it was tough to cut let alone chew. The steak was full of grizzle and overcooked as mentioned.
Also while ordering at the bar...another customer complained a glass had lipstick on ...they then poured the beer from that glass into a new glass! the glass and the beer should of been replaced.
Never visit a sizzling pub again...

service, food, reservation
We had previously booked the function room at southfields for Saturday 16th June 2018 for 7pm for my mum's suprise 60th birthday meal party. cos there was 18 of us going they told us we had to have the function room. They wanted £30;deposit which was paid everything was fine. rung up Friday night to see what time we could go into the room to decorate it before everyone arrives got told from 5.30 pm. my onwards. my brother in law and a family friend went at 6.30 for them to turn around and to tell us that we couldn't have the function room as a baby reveal gender party had over run. But I know the girl who's party it was and they only arrived at 6 pm. our food order had to be pre ordered cos there was so many of us and they still managed to cock the orders up including mine. is ordered a tuna mayo suband was given a tuna mayo baguette which has snapped my tooth. told. told the waiter and he just offered me a sharp knife and said do you want to go and stab the chef. Absolutely ridiculous behaviour especially when kids are about aswell. my brother in law went to pay for his meal and the girl behind the counter said I don't know what I'm doing so just go over there and walked off with an attitude. We got our £30:deposit back and my mum got her meal free but that's not the case when we had booked the room weeks in advance. The manager didn't even know where to put his face. very badly run place.
the white house, aldridge
I recently visited the above. Asked for a receipt but told the paper had run out. Was overcharged by the price of two drinks that should have been in a meal deal. Staff didn't want to help. Items on menu not available., had to re choose. Meals arrived with missing elements, had to chase waitress who wasn't impressed! Left our drinks on table, bags and coats there, went to bar to order puddinga, drinks gone. Asked waitress who asked what drinks they were and thinking she'd bring new drinks she returned with our old ones! Who knows where they'd been. Disgusting and no one to deal with it. All these make an unhappy event and not having a receipt is a very clever way of customers having no comeback. I shall not be returning to this venue.
food
I am writing to you this morning as I had a meal at the Blue Bowl in Hanham Bristol last night I have eaten in this pub many times with no problems however I am so disappointed with the meal me and my family had last night I feel I need to right to yourselves to start with it took over twenty minutes just to get a drink due to just one person working behind the bar we then ordered our food which took about thirty minutes to come out I ordered the mega mixt burger and my sister ordered the serloan steak other meals were ordered but ok first of all the pepper corn sauce did not come out so the waiter was told this took over ten minutes to come out what a joke in the mean times our meals are getting cold due to the wait this was pointed out and both meals were going to be replaced which we accepted but when they returned the steak had just simply been reheated again this was pointed out my burger had gone stone cold at this point the rest of the family had finished there meals so it was decided just have our money returned then just to add a further insult my burger comes with as advertised a free soft drink but the money was deducted from the refund so quite obvious you don't get a free drink what was worse we were there to as a family to remember our mother who had passed away and we came there as this is were she always like to go I look forward to your reply kind regards Mr Mark Henley
staff
Last night we went to The Turnpike Tavern in liverpool . We often go to this resturant with our 4 children as it offers good food great atmopshere at an afforable price .
We found a table and went up to order our food the girl took the order didnt have a clue what she was doing when we asked what drink came free with the burgers and kids meals ! We ordered 2 childrens meal deals so ordered their puddings as it was all included. I asked for a receipt so i could double check after 10 minutes waiting she told us she couldnt print it out and by this time our children were getting restless !
We sat with our drinks and more people came in and ordered after 45 minutes the other tables were getting thier meals and we are still sat waiting for our starter !
My husband went up to ask was at the bar 10 minutes before he was dealt with we was told there was a 35 minute wait on food which we wasnt told and then they came out and gave him the starter which he brought to the table !
Mains came not long after ... our older daughters wanted to share a sunday so my husband went up to order it and to let them know we was ready for the 2 childrens dessert too ! Waited waited waited again we had to go up and ask as it was now 9pm !
Finally come out and only one desert for one child and a sundae !
We said we had order 2 child deserts with the main meals as its a meal deal for the waitress to start arguing with us that we didnt i explained that the other waitress hadnt give us a receipt but we had paid the right amout ! To which she stompped off huffing at us. Mean time my 6 year old is sat there upset and still without a pudding !
The waitress comes back with a receipt for our table waving in my husbands face see you havnt ordered it so i cant give it to you .it was almost screamed at us ! My children then felt uncomfortable i asked to speak to the manager she again walked off calling me fit to burn .
Manager turns up with the pudding £1.29 ! Thats how much it cost £1.29 !
I explained what happened and that i didnt like the way i was spoken to and how it was made out we was trying to get something for nothing to our knowledge it was ordered and paid for it is a scoop of ice cream !
Your manager replied well all seems happy now !
Its 9.25pm ! And my 6 year old has had a waitress arguing with her parents for scoop of ice cream !
To say am appalled by your staff is an understatement !
Its difficult to find a good affordable resturant with having a large family .
We will not be eating here again which is a huge shame as the staff use to be fantastic here made it the great family pub resturant you need
barley mow bramley leeds
Came in for a family drink and a bite to eat. My sister went to the bar and I was seated talking to the family. My sister returned from the bar telling me that we had been told to drink up and leave as I was barred for attacking a bar person. I approached the bar to ask what was going in and explained that I was not the person in question. Other people even told them it wasn't me but they was addiment it was me who had done this. The bar staff involved were completely hostile and had a very aggressive attitude towards me and as I looked around I could clearly see that everyone in the pub was looking at me things became so heated at one point half the pub was edging for a fight and one of the bar staffs friend who was a customer gave me a load of abuse for raising my voice to her friend the bar woman. Because of this incident I feel very upset and don't wish to go out to a pub in the near future as it's upsetting the staff can treat a customer like that. I would have liked to imagine a certain level of training was provided to staff for situations like this so that things can be calmed and rather than throwing fuel to the fire. I also found the woman involved in the original incident and I will submit both mine and her photos to be assessed. I am under the impression you keep cctv evidence for two years after an incident so if you could look over the footage and rule me out that would be great. I don't even believe I bear any resemblence to the other woman the bar staff that were involved last night 17/11/2017 are called chole and Emily. The bar man was the only member of staff to offer any assistance to me at this time and I would hope he is awared for his approach which was far more calming and controlled. I hope you will be in touch soon with a response
Thanks Catherine Bailey

food. cleanliness. garden!!!
I visit the old manor pub in worle. Weston super mare quite often. And I have to say the food is not good. Soup we ordered was cold. Also house sharer we had came in bit by bit. Used toilets which were appalling. The garden was a disgusting mess. I know the pub has recently had new manager but I think they need to take a good look at what is happening here. It was a very nice place to visit. Sadly now it is not.
I visited the black horse rainhill on Saturday night the ladies toilets were filthy don’t think they have been cleaned since pub opened disgrace
exterior cleanliness
The pub in question is The Hesketh Arms New Hall Lane, in Preston, Lancashire. I have never been inside this pub and am not likely to if the exterior is anything to judge by. There is outside seating at rear of premises along with a car park. Smokers congregate here and dispose of their used butts by throwing them at various points of the compass outside. Worst of all is the number of butts on the FOOTPATH which runs down the side of the pub. Absolutely disgusting. Not been swept for weeks.
poor service with regards to food, complaint procedure very poor.
A pub in Thornton, Lancs. has recently become part of the Sizzler chain which has resulted in deminished customer service. In my case I was informed that I would not receive my food order for 45 mins on that occasion but friends who ordered food 5 mins before me received theirs in good time. Due, apparently to a large group of customers who had'nt yet arrived !. I complaint was made via the Sizzler Pub web site, I outlined the reasons of the complaint and where the form requested how I should be contacted I chose by email, instead I was phoned by the manager of the venue, not at the best time, and unfortunately my mobile was still switched on. The conversation was mainly putting things in favour of the venue I felt. So really, as a customer, I think I came second as a consideration !.
Unfortunately these chain pubs lack the personal touch and are just another corporate and indifferent oversize organisation with no real people skills, or even proper catering skills !

awful food
Hi. We used to always eat at the Treacle Mine Pub in Thurrock, however today was our first time back there since it came under new management a while ago. I rarely complain but in this instance I thought you should know that whilst the staff were nice the food was without a doubt the worst food I have eaten ever. The roast pork meat was only partially warmed through, the carrots were half raw but really watery and the roast potatoes appeared to have been deep fried. I am not sure how it is possible for carrots to be as awful as they were and two of us had to discreetly remove them from our mouths. Needless to say we would not eat at the Treacle Mine pub in Thurrock again which is a shame as it is the pub nearest to us. Based on the meat only being partially warmed I would be worried about competency of whoever was doing the cooking today. I did not make a fuss in the pub as I did not wish to hurt anyone's feelings but in order to preserve your reputation I would seriously send someone to order a Sunday roast next week and see if you get the same.cook doing the food. Regards. D Mooney
food
Hi
a family of 5 attended your pub on the Stratford road Shirley Solihull on bank holiday Monday 29th May 2017 for a birthday meal
We ordered rump steak platter which the meet was very veiny and chewy A Steak New Yorker ( no problems)
A Sirloin Steak medium cooked it came our burnt
A southern fried chicken burger meal with mash instead of chips
the mash looked like yellow plastic we complained they said they would replace it with chips which came out 10 mins after the meal was finished.
I also ordered a child chicken breast mash and beans. The chicken breast was that burnt if I had of given it to my son he probably would have chocked on it the mash again was like plastic. I couldn't feed him any of his dinner
I eat in your pubs on a weekly basics usually the covered wagon in Moseley where I have never been let down by the service. I was so highly disappointed by the standard of food we received on Monday
customer service and food
Went to the barley mow banbury on Sunday 28th after I finished my shift at hospital to be greeted with you gave to leave by 9 as you have a child, we then ordered food and asked for a starter to be bought out with the rest of food but it didn't and when my main came it was missing Christy bacon so we asked about it and about 5 mins later a soggy piece of bacon was plonked beside me in a bowl so that was sent back twice more as it was awful not Christ at all just covered in black bits from the griddle by this time my food had been eaten as it would have gone cold, the waiter was inexperienced and the manageress was rude, Wong be attending this pub again as not family friendly or customer friendly, the hanwell arms banbury on a min drive away can teach the barley mow how a pub should be, very disappointed
after having a bad experience at the white hart heywood i was given a voucher, of which i have used tonjight, 10/8/17 . and i would just like to say thank you the difference in staff, service and the quality and presentation of the meal was greatly improved obviously we had just visited on an odd day . i will look forward to our next visit mrs white, , ,
offers
I enjoy Sizzling Pubs food menu and regularly use the Robins Nest in Edinburgh. Tonight (26th May) I received an offer to allow kids to eat for £1 during the half term holiday.
I wish I could take up this offer but my grand-kids were off last weekend
along with a large amount of schoolkids from different areas in Scotland.
Because the South of England has those holidays, it doesn't automatically mean that the rest of Britain falls into line with them.
This is a very common occurrence for people outside the South of England,
if you allowed the pubs to communicate with its customers, these mistakes would not happen.
I was looking for somewhere to go last weekend and a meal at the Robins Nest with an offer would have been perfect.
I hope this can be rectified and does not happen again. John Brash
I am writing to complain about the newlands in tile hill
We visited the Newlands tonight at 16:30 on 18/5/17. We come here a lot and usually have good service. The new menu is out and we had a 50% off the new dishes so we had a the new New Yorker steak.
When we ordered we were asked if we would like the 8oz serloin or the 9oz rib-eye (Thinking this was strange as rib-eye is normally more expensive) my husband chose rib-eye and when I received the bill noticed we had been charged £4 for this but not been told. I also noticed on the bill I had been charged for our sauces 99p each but the meal stated "and a sauce of your choice"
When our meals came out I told the lady that served us we had been charged for these and about not being told about the rib-eye price, the lady told us she would sort this before I finished my meal. Reanne (the lady that serve us) then came back to tell us that we had been charged as you had to pay for the sauce even though it doesn't state that. I showed Reanne it was actually stated on the menu (not as an extra). Reanne then went back to speak to her boss and she returned saying that because we had a 50% off voucher it charges you for the sauce?
I could totally understand this if it stated the sauce was 99p but the actual menu states exactly what comes with the meal, I wasn't charged for my onion rings as an extra because I had a 50% off so why was I charged for my sauce.
I think that it was so unprofessional of the manager to keep sending her staff out saying " my manger Sarah said" instead of actually coming to explain herself.
It was £6 so rather than feeling the way I did all through my meal I don't know why she didn't just refund us. I've never had a problem here before and usually I tell people what a lovely place it is. I was so disappointed with my visit tonight I will think twice next time about visiting a sizzler
food
Hi I just want to write this complain now as I was too scared to do it in the pub it's self! Me and my boyfriend walked into the prairie pub burnley for a bite to eat and a drink we walked in about 7 tables we're full of half eaten food baring in mind there was no one even in the pub so didn't think that looked very hygienic we took a seat and looked into the menu we both got the chicken fillet burger and chips we also paid extra £1 for a drink the meal came looked okay as such we was ment to be getting Monterey Jack cheese which there was cheese on top of the chicken but very little and 100% wasn't Monterey Jack cheese the chicken it's self was really hard and cold and we wanted seasoned chips but they said they didn't do them anymore which it did say they had them on the menu we both eat about half of 1 of the chicken fillets chips were bland and very cold we never got told where the cutlery or sauces were so we sat about 3/4mins waiting on them for someone else to tell us who didn't work there you have to get your own! Really not happy at 2meals came to nearly £20 and we didn't enjoy or eat any of it!
