The service was great
The service was great. They explained everything in detail and when the job started the crew was really nice and explained what they were doing every day which I appreciated. I would definitely recommend Spartan!
I love my new roof!
I love my new roof! It looks really good. They replaced some siding that had dry rot as well as some damaged facia boards. Start to finish was very quick and everyone I spoke to along the way was super friendly and treated me like family. I would recommend Spartan to anyone looking to replace their roof. Thank you Spartan!
I was really happy with my re-roof
I was really happy with my re-roof. Spartan was super organized for my project. When they took off the old tile, the crew for the next phase was already there and started right away. The coordination for every phase was awesome! They did a really good clean up after the job too. I happened to be here when the inspector for the final came, and he even said the job was well done. My neighbors also said the roof looks great. I totally recommend Spartan Home Services.
This company ain't responsive at all
This company ain't responsive at all. They started fixin' my roof, worked for 2 hours and left the job undone. They said they gonna get back to me 'bout finishin' it. 10 days later, nothin' happened and no one contacted me. So I started callin' and emailin'. The call always gets a response like someone gonna get in touch with ya, but they never do. Emails seem to be lost in the wide world web somewhere. They made a dangerous situation on top of my roof and split. I still dunno if I'll ever hear from 'em.. this is so frustratin'. I wish I could cancel the contract and hire someone else to do the job. So unlucky to get involved with this company!
After waitin for months, Spartan Homes finally contacted us to install a new roof and add Solar
After waitin for months, Spartan Homes finally contacted us to install a new roof and add Solar. The sales person said we were gettin a new fusebox too and we got charged for it! Turns out, the same old fusebox is still there! The roofin crew was a Hispanic young kid and a woman, which later turned into a crew. But when they took off the roof coverin over the garage (house built in the 60's), all the junk found its way into the garage through the gaps in the roof boards. It made a huge mess on top of my wife's freshly washed $20 job. It was a complete disaster, like they just swept it into the cracks. It was everywhere! So they had to come out 3 more times to "fix" the brand new roof they just installed. Meanwhile, the Solar Team (all work done through Spartan Homes, Roseville) was supposed to come out and install new boxes and meters, and P.G.&E. was supposed to send an inspector to check the work. My mother-in-law is in her late 80's and I explained that we can't be without power for too long, so we had to coordinate with *** and the City Inspector. I had to run some errands and when I came back home, there was no one around. There was no paperwork or communication to my wife (who was home) about what they did, when they were comin back, and the job was nowhere near done according to the City Inspector. He even FaceTimed his main office to show them where they just quit and left. They didn't give any instructions or knock on the door, they just up and left. The City Inspector showed up and he wasn't notified either. He apologized for failin the home! And get this, after leavin a message on their machine (Spartan Homes), I got a call from ***. He tried to explain, but he also talked over me and interrupted me. I was frustrated and pissed! But here's the kicker, someone named *** called me on my cellphone and after answerin and speakin... see followup...
Save yourself the headache and find a different roofing/solar company
Save yourself the headache and find a different roofing/solar company. We thought it would be easier to use Spartan for both roofing and solar, but that was a mistake. We had them do demo, metal roof, gutters, solar, electrical panel, and a whole house fan. Let me tell you, we have NEVER worked with a company that has such poor communication and follow-through. We had issues with every part of this project. The workers themselves were good, but that doesn't make up for all the other problems we had with Spartan.
Here's what happened in detail. In 2020, *** came out to give us a quote for a metal roof, gutters, solar, and some extras. We weren't ready to sign right away because of the uncertainties of Covid. He felt more like a salesman than a contractor. A month or two later, when we were ready to sign and made a couple of changes to the quote, the price increased by a good amount. We weren't happy, but with the increase in material prices due to Covid, we didn't push it.
At the end of 2020, we signed the contract with Spartan and discussed the start date with *** and multiple Project Coordinators via email. We made it clear that the project needed to start in May , and we were assured it wouldn't be a problem. We even had a specific start date on our contract. Over the course of four months, I regularly reached out to Spartan to make sure we were on track for the May 3rd start date. We had other contractors and installers waiting for that date. My husband had scheduled vacation time to be home for a large indoor project that needed to happen at the same time as the roof demo. I made sure to communicate with everyone involved. Spartan knew that other fields were waiting on their start date.
But when May 3rd came, everything fell apart. Two weeks before that date, the office ladies emailed us for the roof color that we had discussed multiple times with ***. We were told that *** would be the roof supervisor and our point of contact for the first part of the job. We tried to confirm with *** if they were ready for the start date, but we didn't get a confirmed yes. Finally, a week before the start date, *** informed us that the material for the metal roof hadn't been delivered yet, and he wasn't sure when they would get it. This messed EVERYTHING up. We had to reschedule other contractors, and my husband had to try and change his vacation days at the last minute. When we asked why the material wasn't ordered sooner, considering the long delivery times due to Covid, we were told that the managers didn't like to order material too far in advance.
We told *** that we had to start the indoor project ASAP to keep the other project moving, so he sent the demo crew to demo our old chimney. Two weeks later, they finally had our material and started on June 1st, a month late. Throughout the roof project, *** never came out to walk the job or go over the plan with us. We had to text him with questions. We had no clue about the process unless we asked the workers who were there. The workers who came to do the demo, gutters, electrical box, and roof were nice and professional. They arrived on time and cleaned up nicely. We were happy with their work.
When the roof was done, the solar part of the project started. We were told that *** and *** would be our point of contact. At the beginning of the project, a solar guy came out to map where the solar panels would be. We agreed on three locations. However, *** never came out to walk the job or go over the exact panel placement. They installed the panels in only two locations instead of three. Also, we noticed that the solar panels were overhanging the edge of the roof and almost the gutters. This meant that when it rained, the water would fall onto our deck instead of into the new gutters. The panels were placed that way because the roofing team added attic fans at the last minute without consulting the solar team. We brought this issue up with *** and ***, but it took them until October 1st to come and fix it.
In the meantime, *** was getting the paperwork ready to send to PG&E to get the solar turned on. We were told it would take a couple of weeks. We had to get a letter from Placer County to confirm our address for PG&E. Placer County emailed *** and me the letter, and I assumed it was submitted to PG&E. However, a month later, when I didn't receive any information about our solar being turned on, I contacted PG&E and found out they never received the requested letter. I then informed *** that I would handle our solar account from then on and sent the required letter to PG&E to get the solar started. It took a month and a half before the solar was actually turned on and set up through PG&E, right in the peak of the summer heat and smoke.
After three months of trying to contact ***, they finally came out on October 1st to fix the solar overhang issue. Multiple times between the solar installation and the repair, my husband asked why the panels were only placed in two locations instead of the originally discussed three. *** said that the office looks at where the most productive locations are. We understand that, but the third location gets the most sun during the day, and we were never informed of the change until it was already installed.
We are FINALLY done with Spartan, and we are just so relieved. The roof looks great, but it wasn't worth all the other issues we had along the way. This was a huge project for us, costing over $85,000, and having so many problems was beyond frustrating.

Roofing - spartan home services Roseville CA
I entered into a contract with Spartan home services Roofing in January 2023 for a roof replacement for $18,000. However, after they started working and removed the roof, they asked for an additional $26,000. I was stunned, as they had already taken the roof off in rainy season and I had no other choice but to accept their price. I eventually paid them...
