maintenance fees
We have owned a Spinnaker-Hilton Head Timeshare since January, 1999. We own one week in the odd years which means we have used our timeshare 9 times. The maintenance fees have gone through the roof. Every other year we get a bill. Last invoice was $833 and the one we just received for 2019 is $871. We are billed only in the odd years for a one week usage. $871 would go a long way to pay home owners insurance and taxes on a home and that's why I feel Spinnaker is taking full advantage of timeshare owners With the death of my husband I can no longer pay these high fees and will be forced to find alternatives I can find no justification for these high maintenance fees or why they continue to increase with each invoice sent.
timeshare
The only reason I gave one star to this review is because this site won't let me put no stars! We bought and paid for the Spinnaker Resort at Waterside timeshare 10 years ago. The deceit & lies of the salesmen have destroyed the desire to ever go to Hilton Head again - frankly it sickens us to even think about it. One big reason we bought was that the salesmen promoted the "Bonus Weeks" program where they told us we could book & then rent out the week to pay for the maintenance fees. This was a Golf Package timeshare. We actually tried to do that & then found out that the Bonus Week program was for owners only & could not be rented out. The salesmen didn't tell us about that condition. Shortly after the purchase we contacted them steadily for 6 months trying to make sense of the deal & cancel it. We tried to cancel but missed the rescission date due to the foot-dragging of the agents who sold this to us. They avoided calls & letters until the cancellation date had passed. Still we wrote & called to vent our complaints & concerns. The lies & deceptions by the salesmen are numerous. They exaggerated the benefits of the timeshare, not the least of which is the Bonus Weeks program, or leaving out important information all together. Bottom line is this - DO NOT even go to their sales pitch - they are slick & will say & do anything to make a sale!
misrepresentation of booking
I purchased a vacation for $378 2 rooms 3 nights each. Was told I would receive a $50 check, $150.00 in gift certificates to use at restaurants on the island and a free cruise for up to 8 people that I would need to pay port fees that should range from $20-$100 per person. Well here is where the misrepresentation comes into play. I found out it was $50 a night for the rooms so in reality I actually paid for the rooms. The restaurant gift certificates were not gift certificates at all, they were restaurant.com certificates Which are not gift certificates at all. They are a discount to restaurants and there were no nice restaurants on Hilton head Island to use these on that were worth eating at while we were on vacation. The free cruise is not free at all - Port fees plus a lot of other fees are added onto this and a three day cruise would probably be around $400 a person and a $700 a person for a seven day cruise. So what happened to the $20-$100 per person That I was quoted on the phone which I remember him specifically telling me are pretty much close to $20-$25 But could be as much as $100. The pretense for this vacation was that I listen to a 90 minute presentation which turned out to be about three hours. I didn't get anything free I actually paid to listen to their spiel because I did not get free gift certificates to go eat on the island and the way Restaurant.com is is you end up paying half price for a meal or the bill with Restaurant.com coupons these are coupons not gift certificates. And restaurant.com offers nothing very good in the Hilton head area we're on the coast we want to eat seafood not go to fast food type bar and grill places. So this was nothing free this was just giving me coupons. The cruise is not free with just port fees there are a lot of other costs or else it wouldn't cost so much to go on these cruises. Restaurant.com is is you end up paying half price for a meal or the bill with restaurant.com coupons these are coupons not gift certificates. And restaurant.com offers nothing very good in the Hilton head area we're on the coast we want to eat seafood not go to fast food type bar and grill places. So this was nothing free this was just giving me coupons. The cruise is not free with just port fees there a lot of other costs or else it wouldn't cost so much to go on these cruises. I could get Same offer going through a travel agent maybe even less. So the bottom line is I paid for my rooms which I was told by the hotel we were in were $50 a night so if you add that up 6×50 is $300 I actually paid them more money than they rent rooms for. This is such a scam you were actually just paying for your vacation plus you have to listen to their spiel they're giving you nothing. Except items that are going to cost you more money so nothing is free. The rooms we stayed and were horrible they smelled like mold so bad they actually close the rooms after we left because the smell was horrific. And were told that these rooms were underwater due to a flood in a couple years before. Not a good place to stay if you have allergies or asthma.
Total Misrepresentation Of what they are trying to give you to come see and listen to their presentations. They are giving you nothing for free you are paying for your vacation. We went to another one while we were down there we actually got paid to go to that one and a free vacation. And we didn't have to pay anything for it.
YES! We just booked and were told something completely different! We are NOT looking forward to this at all and now have already spent the money and our FIRST weekend was booked WRONG by the company and now we have to deal with it because we didn't purchase the "INSURANCE"! What a huge disappointing start. We WILL NOT be purchasing anything from them at all and will NEVER recommend them to ANYONE!
annual dues
I am confused about how the doubtful accounts continue to increase year after year. At some point this should have capped out.
What happens with these accounts? If they are sold then that money should go back into the owners reserves. I have noticed this for many years and have never seen this addressed properly. I have considered coming to the annual meeting to ask this question .It seems to me that someone should address with transparency since this is the largest component of our budget. I hope to get a response.
accommodations
I am a owner of a timeshare at spinnaker in ormond beach. Been going there for years. They offered me a 400 dollar plus package to do a workshop where I planned on adding another week and upgrading my unit. They stuck me at the Daytona inn the biggest dump in Daytona to stay for Labor Day weekend. We refused to stay and now they won't call me back to get a refund.
bait n switch - stay away!!
A year ago, I received a phone call telling me I had won a free vacation package for 4 days and 3 nights for a fee of $199. Sounded too good to be true - should have listened to my gut! I bought it. With all the "freebies" that comes with it. I was told I had a year to make a reservation in either Bronson, Missouri, Hilton Head, SC, or Ormond Beach, FL. I chose Ormond Beach. I called to reserve 8/31-9/3. Was told they couldn't confirm a room number just yet but they would 3 weeks before my intended stay. I called several times to get them to confirm a room at the resort in Ormond Beach but was told that it would be up to the marketing department. Two weeks before our intended stay, I got a phone call confirming my reservation at a Spinnaker Approved Resort in Ormond Beach. All the paper work I received stated Ormond Beach Floridian Resort. All emails stated Ormond Beach Floridian Resort. Today, five days before our intended stay I get a call confirming my reservation at the Daytona Inn, in Daytona, FL! NOT a resort. I could have made a reservation at that place on my own without having to sit through a sales pitch! Guess what? The Marketing Office is closed on Saturday so it'll be Monday before someone will call me back to "try to straighten up this confusion". I am furious! Had the words Daytona Beach been mentioned even once in all the communications I received from them, I would never have accepted their "free" vacation package. To top it off, the initial phone call I received said it would be a 30-60 minute presentation, the next call I received stated 60-90 minute presentation, the next one said 90 minute and now I'm being told 90-120 minutes! To listen to them convince me to buy a timeshare with a company that let's its representative flat out lie! Or, lie by omission. Maybe it's my fault I "assumed" I would be staying at a resort in Ormond Beach since that's what all the paperwork stated. Never again! Guess I should have taken a hint from the company's name, huh? 'SPIN'nakerresorts!?

spinnaker resorts
Received a cold call from this company. I asked if she was trying to sell me something. She said "No, I'm trying to give you something." I said, "well, I'm not interested. Could you take me off of your list?" at which point she hung up in my face.
If you are going to make cold calls, don't be rude. They interrupted my work day at a number I never gave them permission to use, and then got angry when I said no. Horrible.
customer service/telemarketing
My friend and I both done the Spinnaker resort in Branson and it was fine. We didn't buy into it but now they call non stop! Everyday at least 3 times or more! Including Sunday's! They've been asked repeatedly to stop calling! We even spoke to managers to take us off national call list but of course that didn't happen! How do we get them to stop calling?
My folks and I have owned Spinnaker for over 30 years! Sure there have been a couple challenges along the way. But I will say this if we hadn't purchased we would've never taken half the trips we did. Most of you sound like mooches that just come for the freebies. Haha that's what you get!
customer service, booking department, sales and marketing
We had terrible customer service in booking our confirmed vacation with Spinnaker Vacations for our vacation to Hilton Head in June 2018. We decided to cancel our reservation due to the very poor customer service and booking department. We completed our transaction for a 6 night stay in Hilton Head in April with various sales representatives, including Thomas Butler, Sales Representative; Victor Santiago, Sales Representative; Tyrone Dawkins, Sales Representative; Kathy Barwick, Sales Representative; and Chris Mosco, Customer Service.
When we called reservations on May 14, 2018 we were put on hold for a long time then, when we informed the reservation clerk we had a 6 night stay, she disagreed and became argumentative and rude. She transferred us to customer service who verified that we did indeed have a 6 night stay. We sent our verification letter to [protected]@spinnakerresorts.com at Spinnaker Resorts. We have also contacted the Corporate Office in Hilton Head, The Better Business Bureau in Hilton Head, reviews to Trip Advisor, and various other travel entities to let them know of our horrible customer service with Spinnaker Resorts. The customer service agent transferred us back to reservations at our request to NOT speak to the previous reservation clerk to avoid any further confrontation. We were transferred back to the same rude clerk again and she became very defensive and rude again. Therefore, since we cancelled our vacation with Spinnaker Vacations we would like an apology letter and a total refund of our money we have already paid.
In closing, we have been very disappointed in the booking and customer service we have received from Spinnaker Resorts. We have traveled extensively in the USA and abroad. We have never been treated do rudely and inappropriately. This incident with Spinnaker Resorts has been the most difficult timeshare group to work in regard to making reservations, customer service, and dealing with the sales department at Spinnaker Resort. We were hoping the negative reviews on Trip Advisor were not true, however, we have found out the hard way that they are indeed true.
I have to agree with the poster Spinnakers is not an easy timeshare company to work with. I hate the fact that when you do go to one of the resorts for a vacation you are constantly harassed to purchase more. I wish I had never made the purchase of a Spinnakers timeshare. I would love to get out of it without having to pay out of my butt to get rid of it. That's another scam getting out of it.
introductory visit package
In February, I agreed to a package visit at Spinnaker in Hilton Head. After much deliberation, we settled on the dates of March 27-30. I have verification numbers for two package deals. I was told I would receive a confirmation thru e-mail and in the mail. I had received neither by today March 23. I called and talked to Kayly (sp?) who said the reservation was still "open". They could not accommodate these dates. They couldn't give me two rooms until August. I requested our money returned and was told no, I had to request it 30 days out. This SNAFU is NOT our fault. Spinnaker failed to follow thru on their part. I have spent over 45 minutes on the phone and most of it on ho, d! I have been summarily cut off twice. NOT impressed with Spinnaker! Please refund our money. The people I dealt with other than today were Cameron and Tyrone.
accommodations
The understanding I got when I purchased his package was that my family and I would be staying at one of your resorts and not at the filthy and smelly Days Inn that we were sent to. We travelled from New Jersey 13hrs later to stay in a dump. We are timeshare owners already and therefore we were looking for other opportunities but we didn't need to leave from so far to stay at a motel only to be given a one hour tour of the resort.
You falsely advertised and lured us to Hilton Head and whatever class action lawsuits there are against your establishment we will be joining. Nothing in your advertising, the confirmation letter suggested that we would be staying at any other location than at Spinnaker Resort. All previous vacation packages that we've purchased, those places (Vacation Village and Diamond Resorts) both for which we own and paid off Accomodated us in like manner to what they were trying to sell and that's why we bought. Up to this moment there isn't one positive thing I have to say about Spinnaker Resort and you can be certain that if we are not appropriately accommodated we will post all negative feedback all over social media and to all those who will listen. That you are a fraudulent company and no one should fall for your marketing.

the "package" included for just visiting a resort is a gimmick!
What we were told over the phone is a far cry from reality.
Complaint 1: We were told we would receive $150 in dinner vouchers that we could use at popular (national chain) restaurants as well as a certificate for a cruise that could be used for the next 22 months. What we received was a free $50 voucher for Denny's (quite a bit for just 2 people and it was only good for a specific Denny's near the resort), and $100 in $25.00 increments at www.restaurants.com. The way that program works: log onto the website and submit your "gift card" redemption number. Then choose the city and state you want to redeem it.
Issue 1: You can only submit one gift card at a time before being able to redeem another one! I had to do this 4 times?
Issue 2: We live in a fairly large city, every restaurant listed was a "mom and pop" shop and there were only 11 to choose from. The good news was 7 had reviews submitted by customers.
Complaint 2: The "free cruise" is not free by any means. Within 30 days of visiting the resort we were required to "activate" our voucher for a $49.00 fee. This allowed us to use the voucher for the next year (not 22 months as promised). It does not cover government/port tax, agency or administrative fees or gratuity... not that I expected it cover gratuity, but the tax and fees I did. Bad me. Now for the "free" part... It clearly states I should expect to pay "$189-$339 for a 3 day cruise..." and continues to escalate to $624-$914 for an 8 day cruise." This is per person for an inside state room! I'm not joking when I say: Expedia offers a 7 days cruise for $389 per person right now!
y'all lie like a dog to throw a company under the bus when you're really the problem.
I was a victim of Spinmaker Resort also. They kept calling me and I would tell them I did not want anything they were offering. For some crazy moment I weakened and before I knew it they had suckered me in. I have tried to cancel the trip but the person in customer service talks very mean to me and will not give my money back. My mind is bad and I do not even remember why I was told I had to pay $327 to get this wonderful vacation.
Does anyone know of a way to cancel this trip and not lose money? Thank you.
I am so glad that there are people like you that will step forward to tell your story to prevent others from being scammed. I have been contacted by this company (Spinnaker Resort) but was a bit hesitant of all the so called "bonuses" that are offered in exchange for my husband and I to listen to a 90-120 minute presentation. I am so glad that I did not agree to take any part of this offer. All the best in you resolving this issue and getting actually what you promised by this group. Thank you and Regards!
timeshare vacation package
We signed up for a vacation package last year at the Kansas State Fair.
It was to include 3 nights in Branson, 4 days, including a half day guided fishing trip. In early March, they called me to set up a date for the trip. Then they wanted me to certify that our annual household income was $55, 000.00 or more. I advised them I had been laid off my job afte the deal was arranged and I could not do that. They told me then, I was not qualifed for the package. We paid a $99.00 deposit at the fair, and I told them I wanted the deposit back, since they had nullified the vacation package. They told me I would have to contact the fishing guide. I have spoken to him twice by phone, he assured me he would call me back, and has not done that. We would not have agreed to a fishing only trip: since lodging is a major expense on any vacation trip. Since it was to include lodging, we originally agreed to the package.
Since it was Spinnaker Resorts who canceled the deal, our deposit should be returned in full, and promptly.

I am very pissed off I bought a 3 bed room and there saying I have a 2 bed room I have never used it yet been paying on it for 3 years and if this does not get corrected I would like all my money back I went round and round when we got it about it being 3 bed room I have me my wife a son and a daughter they also said I could rent it for 2500 a week if I wanted to rent it found out thats bull #### they get 40 percent I get 60 they said max 1400 if if if it gets rented if this does not get fixed I want my cash back or u guys can by it back for the price I bought it for its never been used call me at [protected] im am going to block payments to my bank till this is handled
a deceitful dishonest company
We purchased the French Quarter in Branson the first building ever built and were given a perk called the escapes, we paid in full and paid our maint fees as we committed to. Then Spinnaker acquired the property and took away this perk that we were promised as long as we owned the property, Spinnaker refused to honor it but fully expects us to honor ours, which we are not! And we are receiving an abundant amount of hateful calls. We even had someone to take the timeshare but Spinnaker wanted so much money up front the man wouldn't do it. So Spinnaker screwed themselves here. Also our last visit to Branson French Quarter when entering the 2 bdr unit a man and his 2 children came walking out of the back bdr, and the 1 unit lock off had a gray fuzzy turd floating in the toilet and a rusty line all the way across the shower liner.
This is a deceitful lying company that doesn't keep their word just read the reviews it's not just us obviously. They do not honor an agreement but they certainly expect you to and then they have their hangmen calling you with threats when its Spinnaker that screwed themselves, stay away from this company you will eventually be sorry just like us and many others.
timeshare
I purchased this timeshare in Dec. 2014 only because I was told that they would take my other timeshare in on trade... That they already had a buyer for my previous points with the other timeshare... That it could take up to 12 months to get all the paperwork done and everything finalized. Well needless to say after 12 months and about $25, 000.00 dollars and not able to use the Spinnaker property it didn't happen. I am working with a lawyer to
get this resolved, but Spinnaker is dealing with us on the matter.
I would advise anybody against any timeshare as I think they are all a bunch of crooks, scam artist, liars...
aggressive and misleading marketing
I have been contacted repeatedly by individuals saying the are calling from Spinnaker Resorts Customer Care Dept. This has been going on for over a year. Sometimes they take a break but I often get 2 or 3 calls in a week.
I am being told that somehow I have a credit with them, which I find had to believe as I have had no dealings with them. In any event as I had told every caller from the beginning, I have no interested in dealing with Spinnaker and no interest in travelling to the locations where they have their resorts. I have asked repeatedly that I be removed from their call list but they keep on calling. I received another call this morning which is the third one in this past week.
Another concern is they are engaging in phone spoofing which I thought was illegal. The calls come in showing a local number on my caller ID. When I call the numbers that were on my caller ID they are always out of service. I have expressed my concern to the callers from Spinnaker who stayed on the line long enough for me to voice them and was told that a computer makes the calls. It is obvious to me that the computer has been programmed to falsify the number it is calling from, which again I believe is illegal. One time a month or so ago I tried to reach Spinnakers head office but there are no numbers or email information shown for them online. I did wait a long time on the phone and spoke to someone in their accounting department who denied that their reputable company would be engaged in this kind of activity but said he would pass my complaint on to his superiors.
What I want:
1. To be removed immediately from Spinnakers calling list. I never want to get a call from them again.
2. For Spinnaker to be held accountable for the phone spoofing its marketing people are obviously engaged in. They should not be allowed to continue this illegal activity.
timeshare
I visited Spinnaker Resorts on Feb 1st - Feb 4th and had my tour with Brandon Miller on the 2nd. He was an awesome representative to tour with but I did tell him that I recently purchased a timeshare with Marriott Resorts. At this time he had two of his colleagues come speak with me about Marriott because they previously worked for them and said they were familiar with them. I mostly spoke with Hugh and he asked if he could see my closing package, which Brandon and I did the tour and came back with the package.
Hugh looked through it and said he could do a better deal and will also give me back the deposit that I paid with Marriott on a discounted property. He also said he will give me the verbiage to use to get out of that timeshare because "misrepresentation" does not go well with the Timeshare Real Estate Commission. When I learned Marriott had already closed on my property on 2/7, I had went back and forth with Marriott calling everyone I could contact expressing how I wanted to get out of this timeshare because of what Hugh had said. I contacted Adam on 2/12 by phone and he told me to send him an email, which I did on 2/13. I also called Brandon but no answer. I text him on 2/13 saying, "Hi Brandon, I need help getting out of contract. I could not get out of Marriott. They had closed and can't afford both. Monica". Brandon responded by text that he would talk to someone for help.
Adam responded to my email and said that someone would be contacting me (which was after a few emails between he and I).
Brandon text me back on Monday 2/15 asking if I were free to talk. I called. Hugh answered and said he would send me the verbiage that was needed to send to Marriott. If I got it, you have it. I have yet to receive anything from Hugh to date. I received a text from Brandon the following day saying that he had been busy but he and Hugh will reach out to me the following day. No calls from him nor Brandon. I have called Brandon's line several times with no answer and also text with no answer since that date.
I spoke with Darren Cole on 2/23 @ 5:11pm. We spoke and he had me to explain the issue. He told me he would give me a call back the following day around 5:30pm. I have NEVER spoken with him again and I have called him eight times from one of my lines and several times from my other line.
I received my final email from Adam on 2/27 saying he is letting me out of my contract and I should be happy because this is not the normal for Spinnaker. I will have to speak with management about my deposit. He has nothing else to do with it. Sad thing is, I cannot get in touch with management. Management is no where to be found.
I called Spinnaker and reached David Ham on 2/29 @ 12:43p. He listened to my issue and read over some notes that has taken place between Adam and I. He said he will follow up and would call back. He called back that afternoon saying he was not able to get with anyone but would call me back. I really appreciated him calling me back thinking he would be of his word since I have yet to hear from Brandon, Hugh, and Darren. Needless to say, it is 3/5 and I am still waiting on David Ham and Darren Cole to return calls that they have said they would return.
Hugh told me in the timeshare meeting that Marriott "Misrepresented" but I feel Hugh "Misrepresented" on saying he could make something happen and not follow through and I am now out of $2800+ and have taken on stress of wishing I had never come to Spinnaker Resorts. I feel the Real Estate Commission would love to hear how I have had the hardest time dealing with management of Spinnaker Resorts and how Hugh Trainer tells people how he will assist and you will never hear from him again. He practically conned me into purchasing on top of what I had with no intentions of seeing his work through as HE discussed. Spinnaker may want to meet with him on this kind of misrepresentation.
I will not ever suggest this resort to any one and this experience has soured me forever with dreams of a lifetime. If this reach someone that can get in contact with real management, I would like to be called.
Thank you,
Monica B. Reid

fraud!
My boyfriend purchased a 3 night stay with Spinnaker Resorts for a discounted rate. In return, we were to attend a presentation on their timeshare sales. He purchased this last year when we were 24 and met all the qualifications for the stay (ex: Income, age, etc). We called to book our dates and they went over all our information again and we were told we had to be 27 in order to book the stay. He explained he was never told that and she sent us to a customer service rep. After talking to a second rep she told us we had to be 28 to book with Spinnaker, when 5 minutes ago we were told the age was 27. Initially we were told the age was 21 when we purchased the stay. He told the rep nobody ever mentioned 27 or 28, or he wouldn't have even thought about purchasing the vacation. She said she was sorry there was nothing she could do and he then reminded them that every conversation he has had with Spinnaker from purchasing until trying to book with them was recorded and the rep changed her tune & told us she was sorry and our money would be refunded in 3-5 days. Spinnaker Resorts is a fraud! Don't give them a dime of your money.
