Racial discrimination is still in exsistence, especially within the South Carolina and Georgia region. There are laws that prohibit Franchise owners from "openly praticing" their views, but the ignorance remains as an epidemic. I am an African American female, I worked for Sport Clips and was told countless times, to create a "sensible balance" within my store, "do not hire anyone else black" and to "only hire someone black if you are replacing another black person." I was also told not to take these statements personally because and I quote, "it's only business" I was often left feeling very intimidated that I would loose my job, (which eventually happened anyway) if I ever "opposed" these views. There were plenty of days when the store could have been very successful, but was loosing business because of improper staffing. I specifically remember working with 3 other ladies including myself because there was a "freeze" on hiring anyone else black. The black applicants were the only ones coming in for a very long time to apply. It created unnessary stress on the staff and tension between the clients and stylists because the boss would rather have a "balanced store". My boss even went so far as to say, let's visit the beauty schools and find some "cute barbie doll girl...that's what the clients want to see anyway." The "ideal" management teams were told to always wear make-up and give the guys, "something to look forward to, even if the haircut isn't all that great, they'll remember a pretty face" The overall structure within the stores is very weak and biased. I worked there long enough to observe unequal pay between stylists with the same level of experience and time invested within the company. I personally witnessed someone recieve a promotion, (pay increase) and demotion (pay decrease) within a week without any explaination. African American stylists were always targeted negatively and discliplined with a "write up" form for trivial matters such as "tardies" under 5 minutes within their shifts . Caucasian stylists were allowed to "no call, no show, not attend meetings, steal money, (with proof of the theft), talk disrespectfully through text messages to their managers (using profanity and verbal assaults) and transfer between locations if they were clearly fired from another location, and continue working. Many of the stylists have been promoted since then with this terrible work ethic and have job security simply because they are Caucasian. These practices should be investigated, I would go so far to say that if someone called or visited any and I do specifically mean any South Carolina or Georgia locations for Sport Clips and ask "are you told not to hire blacks or men" the answer would be yes.

Stealth Pilot:

Your ignorance sickens me. Your mode of thought is the reason college graduates like me can't get a job in this racist stink hole. There are many qualified minorities like myself applying to jobs pertaining to my career level and although I may have a better portfolio than my white counter-part, he/she will get the job because their last name is Smith as opposed to Ramirez. You view it as forcing companies to hire less qualified minorities--the reality is that racial recruiting lends way to HR's and CEO's to continue their preferred way of hiring. In their opinion a white organization is more reputable than a diverse one. The bottom truth is whites are not being victimized here. More get hired over Latinos and Blacks. Get off your high horse and stop empowering racist management!

Fed up...does Sports Clips cut women's hair? My husband won two haircuts in a contest and I looked online and they appear to be geared towards men which is what he had told me. The closest location is in McDonough GA which is about an hour away. I would not mind checking this location out and giving my honest opinion. I am a white female but I do not believe in descrimination nor quotas. BTW...the best thing to do on this site is just ignore the nasty comments. It seems to be some sort of game on here. I don't think that I have found one complaint post yet that has not been attacked. Of course, letting you know this will make me the target now. Watch how I ignore.

I totally agree. Racism still exist. But this company tries to blanket it. Basically the same thing happened to me at sport clips in mississippi.

They very much discriminate, I have not seen one man ever in a sports clips its always young caucasian woman. I wanted to apply and was told by a friend that works for the company that they do not hire men at all! Which is really sexist and ridiculous your coming to get a haircut not go to a strip club it should be professional and not sexualized but it is very sexualized unfortunately!

I walked into sports clip today to get my hair cut like I always do and I was turned away because the lady on duty refused to cut my hair because she don't do bald heads. I always come here to get my hair cut. This is not cool at all. Can someone please call me at

On Monday, April 11 I took my grandson to get his haircut. I asked stylist to "trim" his hair (like trim dead ends!) He likes it long. He later told me she kept jerking his head and pulling his hair too tight. He is still very upset. Stylist needs to listen.

Went into the Hwy 10 location about 11:00 today. Signed in. 48 minute wait. After it was down to under 5 minutes; the clock says now it is 59 minute wait. So I asked and got the runaround. It was going to be another hour. My stylist had to go on break/computer problems. BS. That is pathetic. I left. You just lost my business.
