This company has seemingly broken an amount or laws be defrauding many people with their unlawful billing tactics and arbitrary fees. I am seeking class action suit against them as I see there have been numerous complaints against them for the same thing. Please send me an email with your current standing with this “company” and some details about your account and the fraudulent billing they have committed against you and let’s stop this company and get restitution once and for all.

Beware people!

I also had my account sold to them by Providian last summer, with no notification about the sale, nor about any changes in terms that took place afterwards.

I paid off the balance last July, and didn't use the card anymore, until this past week. I tried to use it, and it was declined. I checked my account online, and it looked fine - it said I had a full credit limit available. So I called...

They said my account had been closed due to inactivity. No notice, of course, no communication whatsoever. I asked if I could reactivate it - no.

So even though I was never happy with being forced into doing business with SST to begin with, I have now lost about 25% of my total available credit simply because they weren't making any money off of me for a few months.

Beware, those of you who pay them off thinking this will solve your problems - you're going to lose that credit after a couple of months if you don't keep using the card!

*****************PLEASE READ!************************************

SST is a fraud and everyone NEEDS to check their credit reports. I had an account with Providian who sold to SST. Stopped getting statements from them so I just assumed they sold to another account I am making payments on. What a mistake I made to assume! I currently have a new vehicle on hold at a dealership. Having trouble getting the financing because SST shows on my credit report as an unpaid car payment that went to REPO!

After this showed on my account, my husband decided to check his credit. He to is showing a car payment to SST also. How does this credit company have the right to and get away with this ###?

This is going to take forever to clear our credit history...

I have a list a mile long. Many communications. Screwed on interest rates now almost 30%! Because they can, they say. I have written my congressman.

Now their website does not work for payments! What's with that!

I was also a credit card holder with WaMu. I was in good standing the whole time that I was with them. Then, all of a sudden, I was sold to SST! The very first month with them I have had problems. I have since faithfully paid my bill online with no problems, accept this month. I thought that I had paid $75.oo. I few days later I was going through my checking account and realized that my payment hadn't yet cleared. Then I remembered: You initially agree to the payment. Then, IN LITTLE TINY WRITING, it asks you to "Confirm" the payment authorization. I guess I missed that this time, therefore, the payment never went through. I think a 6 year old could have designed a better Website than the one that they have. Now, I just tried to make my DOUBLE PAYMENT DUE + LATE FEES and the Website isn't working! Now, my credit that I am trying to rebuild has just taken a negative hit! THANK YOU WAMU and SST!

My Washington Mutual credit card was sold to SST ALSO. I've been with SST since 2006 . I set up my other accounts for payment a month in advance which I could not do with SST. You can only pay that one four days in advance of the due date. Last month my husband was in the hospital with double phnemonia for 8 days. He's also on Dialasis. Has been for 3 yrs. I forgot to pay this bill I believe I was 5 days late. When I realized this I called customer service and explained my situation. And I made a 200.00 Payment. I also payed the 39.00 late fee. When I got
my bill this month I noticed that the interest rate was increased to 29.09%. I called an talked to mark. I was told nothing could be done unless I paid 1/3 of the balance off and then they could lower my interest rate to 25%. I explained my situation to him. His remark was I'd only been a customer since2006. I have always paid my card on time with this one exception, and always paid more than the minimum amount. I became quite frustrated and told him to close the account which he did I was also told that I would still be charged the 29.09%. And he repeatedly said we've done nothing wrong.what about ethics. I called again tonight and talked to aron and was given the same information I asked to speak to a supervisor she came on the line and again said they could do nothing . My remark to her was if he died would it be the same situation and she said yes. I thanked her for the lovely serivce and that i surely will recomend the company to every one I Know what a Laugh. I previously got a Letter from SST the first
sentance read we appreciate the opportunity to serve you "SST" remains committed to maintaining a high level of customer satifaction an welcomes the opportunity to assist. Sounds good doesn't it? When you were giving the opportunity to do so you failed misserably. I have never been treated by anyone with such a lack of uderstanding, compassion and such poor customer service.

I have had similar problems with this company. I certainly hope there is a class action suit and that it comes to fruition before I die. I currently have breast cancer. 2 years ago, I called SST to see if I could get a deferment on my account for a couple months as I was having problems as I was unable to work while having chemo and radiation. The lady I talked to was very very rude and told me it wasn't their problem that I was sick and that I still had obligations to them for the amount I owed. I have no problem with paying this bill, EXCEPT, my limit was $1000 and I steadily paid the payment of $100 regularly each month until I had a problem with my finances and being sick. When I checked into things more carefully, I realized I was still owing over $1000.00. How could this be if I have not used the card in over 2 years and continuously paid $100.o0. My other credit card companies were willing to defer payments during that time. I was called at least 5 times a day everyday (NO EXAGGERATION) I refused to talk to them because they were very rude and obnoxious. I paid when I could. I now realize that all kinds of charges were added time and time again, sometimes more than once a month from what I could decifer from my bills.

I also had an account with Washington mutual that I was in good standing with for over a year. About a year ago, My account was sold to SST. I have since acrued over $1, 000.00 in finance charges. My acct. has a $2, 000.00 limit on it. AT the time my acct. was sold, I only had $1, 000.00 on the card. I have made no charges in almost a year. My interest rate was 13% when the card belong to washington mutual and went up to 30% when it was sold! Because of the finance charges, payments they said they never received, on line payments they stated they never received, my account is now over its limit AND I'm being charged overlimit fees, on top of the outragous charges... I am extremely PISSED my account was sold and now my credit rating is at risk because I can't keep up with the fee's on this card. How can this be legal?

These ### are by far the most unethical group of people in the woeld and why anyone would want to work for them is beyond me. I have been trying to get this monkey off my back for a year and it seems to going very slow even if you double up on payments and make them on time...my big question is why our govt. allows this type of robbery to go on right under their noses and why no caps have been put on interest charges that keep people from paying them off...but as we all know our system is built around a govt. bought and payed for by these ###s and why nothing will ever be done about it when these very companies donate millions of dollars to their guy to get elected...so when I talk to the SST customer pitbull I am just as rude and nasty to them as they are to me...no more Mr. nice guy with these minimum wage earning stooges and ###s...being nice did not help and paying on time doesn't either so screw them!...next time they call you give them as much crap as possible because your requests are just falling on deaf ears..pay off the account and never travel down the SST road to hell again...I sure hope they read this post.

OMG I am so infuriated right now, I have been going rounds with this company for over a year now! The original balance that WAMU sold to SST was 616.00 now a year later and 512.00 in payments my balance is 987.00!

What crooks! I have cried, screamed yelled, made complaints to the FTC etc etc their "dialer" calls me 4-9 times a day! Just last sunday I had 6 missed calls from 5pm-8pm!

I dont know what I can do, do I just pay them and put up with it? I tried to get them to settle for around 400 which would bring me to having paid over 4x's the original debt! and they said no...

I have had car loan with them for 3 years. After having an excellent payment history, with high credit rating, suddenly I began receiving calls that my payments for the SUV were "not being made", late, no record received, etc. despite the fact that my online payments per my bank were forwarded electronically with a confirmation and tracking number. Made two payments in January, neither of which they can "find"! And, they call my office for credit, harassment calls! I have excellent credit (at least I did until I got involved with them!). And, now accelerated interest rate, late fees, locked out of my account, and on and on! Where do I SIGN to file suit against these guys? Thanks. Jaclyn Brooks

Ok 1st off.. Everyone who has a credit card apparently agreed to the terms & disclosures of the account or you wouldn't have the card. By accepting the terms & disclosures of your card means you accept all fees and the way the card works.. If you didn't read the fine print that is your fault not the collection companies- Am I right..? Yes.! You are responsible for your credit card account and paying it all back -on time as stated in the terms & disclosures.. If you don't have a copy just call us and we can request a copy for you. What we do is not harrassment we follow a stern and valid set of rules and policies we know what we are allowed to do and what not to do. If we have to call you everyday until you pay then that's what we'll do.. If you don't like it don't get a credit card and if you do pay it on time and you wouldn't get the fees. But then again you keep me having a job so don't pay your bill & I'll be calling you... Ha Ha Ha.!Yeah I do agree some of the fees and consequences are a little harsh but think about it- you agreed to everything we do so it's not a surprise. Sorry but it's the truth.

I had my Providian account transferred as well... my big problem with this company is the fact that they don't accept payments. I sent 2 payments electronically through their site and both of them did not got through. these payments were both processed on the same day by me, one for immediate pymt one for another pymt several days later.. I did not print confirmation, stupidly, and now my balance is a full $250 OVER THE CREDIT BALANCE! This company is surely the worst I have ever dealt with and the economic stimulus check I got is going straight to pay off this company so I never have to deal with them again. I will surely research this company further and any other company that does business with them I will boycott and refer my network to do the same. I sincerely hate this company, and hope they go under very soon.

I have already wrote a complaint but what good will it do when our corrupt sumpreme court votes 9-0 in favor of the banks every time I figure they must get perks from them it makes no sense maybe obama or hillary one day will make a difference in congress because the corrupt sumpreme court in my eyes never will they just ignore the complaints it seems heck they'll in office for life how fair is that maybe they only make 120, 000 just imagine how much they might make on perks does 9-0 everytime make any sense at all especially when millions of people are very disappointed with the sumpreme court

My contract was also sold and a major increase in interest soon followed. This is another example of the disabuse of what could be a good thing for our country. How the ### are we moving forward when corp. execs. continue to outsource in the name of 1M. vacations? The services they offer are rapidly decreasing while their rates and terms become more intolerable.Their opt-out terms are not great either. So, what`s your solution?

i too had our rate go up to 30%, i called and had no help from customer service, i lost my job and our household income had been greatly reduced. i read all the comments on this board and saw the name of someone that could help, he personally answered his phone and i explained that we could not afford the new payments. within 15 min someone with the workout dept called me and reduced my rate and set up a new payment plan, we closed our account i coudnt be happier, she was very kind and reset my account, i guess what i trying to say is, instead of writing all this negitive stuff try to call and they will work with you, you have to talk to the right people (dept) and you cant call in swearing and blaming them for all your problems, just be honest and be plesant and they will work with you.

I was in the hospital and was not able to work. As a result of this, I fell behind in my bills. I explained this to SST. They said they would keep calling until I paid. After months of Phone calls, which I chose to ignore, someone from sst said I should call because they had a hardship program. When I called, they said they had no such program. After I borrowed money to pay them, I called to see if they would forgive some of then late fees and or interest. They said because I did not answer some of their calls, they wouldn"t do anything. Every other card I have ever had was willing to work with me. This company and their employees were the worst I have ever dealt with. I was paying the entire card balance, and the woman gave me a total, she said there would be more because they were adding more finance charges. Unbelievable! These people should not be in business.

SST Sucks! They tell me I was late on a payment & because of that my interest rate goes from 9% to 29.27% this is totally unbelievable. Now the only way to reduce it is to close the account which they say will reduce the rate 4% taking it to 25.27%. Like that's really going to accomplish anything. Their customer service is poor & not helpful at all. My last conversation was with a Mandy #1715 who has the attitude of oh well this is the way it is & if you don't like it tough! She also refused to give me her last name or the president of the companies name. She told me this was irrevelant to my account.

I had a Providian, which sold WaMu then to SST. The credit limit was $4500.00 I was paying monthly. When SST bought the account it should have been paid in fullbut thet showed it with a large balance. I ask for proof of this account and have been trying to get some help from them, after 15 months at $150.00 they have my balance at $4, 800.% intrest and late fees. I refuse to send another payment at these fees...and without proof I own this debit. I am sure at the intrest rate the origal account was at and the amount of payments, t was paid off months and months ago.

I have never had the "rage" I have had when working with a company before. I was with Washington Mutual before my account was charged off to SST (like many of you). My credit score has always been fairly decent (high enough to buy houses, cars, etc.), but now because of SST, my credit is ruined!

I hardly EVER get a bill from these people. When I call, they are rude and obnoxious! I have never been treated this way when trying to work with a company/business. They treat you like you are trash who can't keep up with their bills. They all but called me a liar when I told them I wasn't getting their bill. Month after month, when I ask them to please take off the late fee, of course the answer is NO! I was no where near my limit when I was with Washington Mutual. I haven't used the card since it was sold to SST. Now, I'm over my limit and am charged all these ridiculously fees every month!

I would LOVE nothing more than to SUE their ###. Please email me if there is a class action suit brought against these slime balls! gforbes25@verizon.net

I really don't know how people who work for SST can sleep at night. With the economy/gas prices they way they are... we are all pinching pennies and I certainly don't have the $$$ to be handing over the SST, when especially the charges they are charging me aren't even legal (in my opinion).

I wish so badly I could just pay these ### off and put this nightmare behind me.

I have the same problems with SST. I was never late with my Providian account. Once I found out the card was sold to SST, I tried to access their website for payment. Same story as everyone on here...told to pay a $10.00 fee to pay online. That was 4 years ago..flash forward to August 19, 2008 and I applied for a mortgage and SST has 4 separate derogatory accounts listed on my mortgage merged file. They changed the account numbers, charge off-one, issued a new account number as a collection as show as a recent late pay and they even took my stellar Providian account, change account numbers, and showed as a charge-off. I am furious! I have DV them twice and filed disputes with the CRA. They still remain. Count me in on a lawsuit. I cannot believe our rights are not being protected. Any help from anyone here would be helpful. My mortgage depends on it! Thanks

I had my providian account sold to WAMU and then to SST. I was a day late with one payment because they processed the check late and now my interest rate is 30%. My wife has the same card with them - same situation - Providian, WAMU, SST. Her interest rate is still in the 15 to 19% range and I pay the bills, so I know she was at least a day late once or twice as well.

My card was sold to SST from Washington Mutual. I had disability insure, and when it was sold it was dropped. I got a rare disorder called sudo-tumor. And now that I am blind and disable I found out I no longer have the disability insurance I once had. My husbands plant has closed, and my disability just don't pay the bills

I was originally a Providian customer, who then sold my account to Washington Mutual, who then sold my card to SST. I have begged them to lower the interest. There is NO reason for the interest rate to be near 30%! They said their hands were tied by the bank and refused to divulge on the bank's name. I looked it up and complained to the bank-BEGGED to have the interst lowered. They forwarded the message to SST who called me the next day and stated they thought they had "educated me" that the interest could not be lowered. It's still unclear- Why's the interest so high? She said to lower the interest, I would have to close my account (first give them roughly $1, 000 which I don't have, ) but the interest would only drop a couple points. She also threatened that if I had even just one late payment, my interest would inch closer to, (probably break) 30%. These people should pay back all the bogus interest I paid them (which would probably wipe out my current "owed" credit.) If there is a class action suit against this company, feel free to contact me. These people are hurting everyone and they need to be stopped!

Do any of you think that buisness is buisness? I dont have a credit card w/ them but APRs are going up all over the place, its not just SST, and when you activate that card and you use it if you dont pay on the due date in the terms and agreements it states you WILL GET A LATE FEE. There is no grace period when it comes to interest, you pay a daily interest amount, and as for the over limit fees, yeah they may not be fair if you get a late fee then an over limit fee, but its buisness, and once you activate that card, they can do whatever they want, no point in suing them, you'll never win. and as for having to wait 10 days to have a payment post thats over $200, thats probably so they can make sure the payment wont be NSF later by the bank thats how long it can take for a payment to be returned by the bank, if you make a payment for that much, then it go and charge that much to the card then it comes back as a bad check...you go over the limit and get all kinds of fees, they dont hold the money they apply it to your account but they wont let you charge on that $200 until its clear. Thats smart! No buisness is going to give you FREE money and expect nothing in return, they expect what every other bank does, pay it back ONTIME, you dont get your house or car for free, and if you are late on your account, they charge you a fee as well. Yes they may charge high fees, but their a buisness if you dont like it, apply for another card somewhere else and transfer your balance.

I want to complain about the harassing phone calls I am getting from SST. I understand getting phone calls when a payment becomes late by say, 10 days. A phone call saying, "Hey, your payment is late and if it goes over 30 days it will show up as a negative report." That is perfectly understandable. But SST begins calling the very first day the payment is late and calls and calls, several times a day until the payment is made. If I am 4 days late on my payment, I can expect at least 16 phone calls - I am not exaggerating. This kind of harassment is unecessary and ridiculous. They have also raised my interest rate to the maximum amount and slap me with trumped up fees every month. I have to make payments 4-5 times the amount of my minimum payment amount just to get ahead of the fees.

... SST is the only Credit Card I have that HARRASSES IT'S CUSTOMERS...

I agree with all the complaints. They start calling at 8:01 AM every day and stop at 8:OO PM - 7 days a week INCLUDING HOLIDAYS. I have even talked with them about when I can make a payment and to please record that - they're response was - when it is paid we will stop calling you.

These 10-12 calls a day- sometimes more - are HARRASSMENT. They start the very first day the payment is due and dog you. I hope that they get SUED big time for this. Try talking with someone to make arrangements for payment - HAHAHAHAHA - even if you do make arrangements, they still call you 10-20 times a day. Recorded message half the time is garbled and when you answer and tell them that you have made arrangemets - again say - "Calls will continue until the payment is received".

Yes I can see if they call you after the GRACE PERIOD and if you tell them when the payment will be made on such and such date they should mark it down on the ACCOUNT and if not received then MAKE another call. But THESE HARASSING CALLS are just that HARRASSMENT. They are RUDE, YELL AT YOU - makes me want to yell back AND then they say I don't have to talk like that " GIVE ME A BREAK" You started it. They probably do not even record any of the messages and if they do they probably hit RECORD after they have insulted you.

had auto loan transferred to SST 7/25/01 went through all their bull.. extra fees, crazy interest rates. Was laid off from work in2006 tried to keep account current when possible, they contacted us in late 2007, early 2008 about sending someone to house to verify we were here they said would speak to me to verify, after waiting approx a month called sst, lady looked up info said person contacted me (news to me) I said no she gave me wrong address house description etc, said also talked to neighbors, I asked all of my neighbors (on good accord with all) they said nobody contacted them, so she said would investigate, never got back with so figured was settled. Contacted them 3/17/2008 for payoff, received amt, sent money in, received lien release statement and title paid in full around 3/27/08 around 3-4 months later after no contact at all get call from sst you owe us 40.00 for (field call), said no was paid in full, she said no we owe, got called deadbeat even after payoff, told her to send a bill, after a month get payment statement that shows 40.00 on 3/27/08 day when paid off, get calls every day, called sister in law, wife at work? tried to be upfront paid off loan and this. if any action against sst I would like to be contacted .

I too am having problems with SST. I had an account with Washington Mutual which was sold to SST a year and a half ago and IMMEDIATELY, my interest rate went up to 30%! I called and asked why in early 2007, but they gave me some B.S. story that they were allowed to do it by law since they acquired the account, which, I might add, was ALWAYS in good standing! I am all for filing a lawsuit for unethical business practices and would love to know where to sign up!

All I can say is THANK GOD Capital One has not raised my interest rate! It is still around 11% which is good considering I had 5 credit cards (two with CAP ONE, but paid one off), down to 4 now and still plugging!
You may want to transfer your balances to Capital One, they have been GREAT for me for the last six years. Far and above ALL of the other companies! I am going to do this, but still would love to know if there is any way to recoup any losses with SST.
OH and if you have an account with HSBC, or like me, two, if you send a check for each card with the statements for each card, they are not read by people, but COMPUTERS, so it will apply both payments to one card! Found that out after attempting to "speak" to someone in PAKISTAN who was, unfortunately, the only customer service rep available! Took a month for the credit to apply to the correct cards!
WELCOME TO AMERICA!

I have never dealt with such a rude or incompetient company. They seem to make it difficult to pay your bill so that the charges for late payments can mount up and make the next payment even more difficult to make. I was layed off a year ago and continued to make my payment on time (tried to be) with the amount due, unfortunately their website is not accessible most of the time and who wants to pay 10.00 more to pay over the phone, when I pay them with my online bill account it take more than four days to process even though my bank is sending it out the day the request is made. So that incures late payments at 40.00 a pop, not counting the large finance charge, now that my bill is over the limit the charges are even worse. I have kept in contact with them month after month to make payment arrangements and just found out that they closed my account even though I made contact weekly to keep them up to date. I hope that the lawsuit pays off and maybe the victims of this card company can get a bailout!

I am going through the same issues listed here. First of all I don't even get a statement. I have not received a statement in six months and the one before that was six months. I call and tell them I did not get statement and they confirm by address but still no statement. They told me I was over the limit and I was being charded $35.00 for the past seven months. When I finally received a statement there is no over limit fee listed but they tell it has been charged and they do not have to show it on the statement. When I asked for a 12 month review of statements they said it would take three months to get. The say they can only look back on their systems three months.
When I asked the name of the person I was speaking with they refuse to give their name. The service is terrible and rude.
I asked for the number to their executive offices and address and they refuse to give.
They will not help resolve anything. Please add me to the list of complaints

I am a victim of the SST online payment scam. My payment is due today and I am home recovering from surgery now they are going to charge me $39.00 late fee added on the next months payment. I've paid them well over $800 on a charge card that was only $500.00 not including the over limit and over due fees. They don't want to negotiate a lump sum fee. What's with that.

The Company will not work with anyone. They charge astronomical percentage rates & they threating you with higher rates & bad debt. They told me that if I pay them $300.00 that they will lower my interest rate from 26% to 22%. I told them where they could go & that I would take my chances with collections. I am still trying to to make good with them but if they wont work with me then I'm not working with them. I didn't even open an account through them they bought my account from someone else & raised my rates. They are basically raping americans.

My WAMU credit card was sold to SST w/out my knowledge/consent. Since then, I've had nothing but problems. Let me first mention that I haven't used the card since SST took the account over.

1. The website (I generally do my banking online) is inadequate and doesn't allow for automatic payment;
2. There is no frace period. If your check does not get there before the due date there is a late fee on your next bill.
3. The finance charges are outrageous: 29%!
4. There is a weird charge called "Balance Tran/Promo Offer" on every bill

Is there anything that can be done about a credit card company selling your account? Are there laws about how much the new company can charge for interest?

Any advice would be great

My car loan was sold by AmTrust to SST & I have had nothing but trouble from them. They started a direct withdrawal without my consent. I just started a new job & am not getting my first pay check until the end of the month. I received confirmation that the payment for November was deferred but they themselves set up a payment for the 17th without my authorization. They are constantly hounding me stating my bill has not been paid and every month, prior to this month I have to confirm with them that the check has gone through.
