What a great dealer to work with!
What a great dealer to work with! I was in Boise tryin to get the incentives at a local Ford dealer and they told me they were NOT givin them MSRP or nothin. I decided to make the drive up north to Hometown Motors in Weiser and they were awesome I received all the incentives I qualified for and everyone made the buyin process easy.
I bought a 2008 Acura MDX from Steve's Hometown Motors on 1/2
I bought a 2008 Acura MDX from Steve's Hometown Motors on 1/2. They said it passed a 120 point inspection before I bought it. I took it to the Acura dealership for an oil change and tire rotation because it was shaking a lot at high speeds. They told me there was an oil leak from the oil pump and the inner and outer tie rods needed to be replaced for the alignment. They also said the timing belt needed service and recommended doing the scheduled maintenance since it wasn't shown on the Carfax. All the fluids were dirty too. They estimated it would cost $7000 to fix everything that the folks at Hometown Ford said was well-maintained. I took it back to Hometown and they put it on the rack and said the oil pump and tie rods were fine. I went to the Honda dealer to get the fluids changed and they told me the oil pump was leaking. They also said I could get an extended warranty for only $23 extra a month for 74 months, but there was a line item for a service contract that cost over $3400. I won't ever shop at any of Steve's Hometown Motors again and I'll make sure all my friends and family know about their dishonesty.
These guys are terrible!
These guys are terrible! I thought I was getting a good truck, but I noticed a wobble and the pickup was all over the road on my way home. But since I'm a girl without a man or anyone who knows about rigs, I just thought it was because it had bigger tires. Turns out, the front right tire tilts outward and is wearing or cupping all around the outside. So I called my salesman and told him, but he said they couldn't do anything and that they checked the tires during inspection. He said they had over 50% tread, which is complete nonsense. I took it to a real mechanic for a full inspection, and it turns out it has bad struts, a leaking front right strut causing tire wear and alignment issues, and it needs new tires. I contacted my salesman at Steve's Hometown, and he just told me it was sold as is with no warranty! I haven't even made a payment yet, and they sold me an unsafe pickup that started at *** but turned out to be ***. They won't put new tires on it or fix the leaking struts, alignment, and my brakes that are only 40% left. I wouldn't recommend these people to anyone! They won't do the right thing and make things right with their sales or treat their customers well!
So like a week ago, I was working with one of your salesmen on a truck you guys got on your website
So like a week ago, I was working with one of your salesmen on a truck you guys got on your website. I sent him links of the truck I wanted to see and he scheduled me an appointment for Saturday the 25th of April at 2:30. He said, "I'm making sure we give you the best deal possible. I promise you that you'll leave grinning ear to ear with excitement!" Let me tell you, that wasn't the experience I had. I talked to him the night before and on the same day, and he said he'd have the truck ready for me when I got there. I drove 2 hours to your dealership only to find out that he was too busy for the appointment he set up and the truck didn't even exist. He said he knew the truck didn't exist but forgot to tell me. Then he introduced me to this other guy who was supposed to help me with the trucks he thought I'd like... Well, those trucks had nothing in common with the one I came to see. I kept showing the guy the truck on the website, and he kept saying that truck doesn't exist. He looked up the stock number and found a truck associated with it, but it wasn't even close to what was listed on the website, and it had a higher price with fewer features. So, to make a long story short, your dealership tricked me into driving 2 hours for a truck that had a bunch of extras and a low price, but it was all a lie. I was really unsure about posting this, but you still haven't taken down the ad for that truck. Honestly, if the salesman had just told me there was a mistake, I probably would've bought a truck. Instead, I got passed off to another employee, shown 5 different vehicles with hardly any of the features I wanted, and was asked to pay over $5000 more than what I planned on spending.
I found a 2019 1500 crew cab 4x4 5.7 classic Stock # *** on Hometown web site
I found a 2019 1500 crew cab 4x4 5.7 classic Stock # *** on Hometown web site. It was advertised for $19,863.00 with no conditions or caveats, it simply said MSRP $44555 Hometown discount $24692 Hometown price $19856. I called and told the salesmen Justin that I would buy the truck. He told me that he would make that happen, I continued and said that I did have a truck that I would trade in but would have to get $14000 for it. If he couldn't get that for it I would just pay cash for the truck at $19863. He said I'll talk to the sales manger and get an answer, shortly after that he came back and said manger said $14000 would work. I gave him a credit card deposit for $1000 and said I would come 225 miles on 2/12 and pick up the truck. When I showed up at the dealers site Justin was not there and had handed my purchase to Dave another sales person Dave looked at my truck wrote down some information and handed it to Tom the sales manger. Tom in turn went off and came back with a trade in value of $5900 I told him that was not the agreed upon deal he didn't agree with the deal Justin had made. I then told Tom I would buy the truck for $19863 cash. He said the cash price was $26863, I said that that was not as advertised and I would not pay it, he said the advertised price was only if I had a trade in. The advertisement had nothing about "trade in" or any other caveat. I left incredibly angry. Subsequently, I looked up the truth in advertising statute in Idaho 48-603: it states that if a party advertises a product for a given price and knowingly does not intend to sell for the advertised price they are in violation of the statute and consequently the law. The above narrative is a class room example of how to not comply with the truth in advertising law.
Terrible service
Terrible service. Make sure you get paid on your trade-in the day you close your deal. As it took them weeks to get me a check for my trade in. My pickup was paid off but the title was sent to the wrong address. They did not specify they needed the title until two weeks after I had signed docs and was waiting on my check that they said they'd have to me within a few days of closing. After a week of not hearing anything I called and was informed that they needed the title to issue me a check. I was transparent that I did not have the title at closing and it would not be an issue, I don't think they have experience with paid off vehicles. Then I tired to back out of the deal after they told it would take them weeks to pay. But was told they would have to sale me my pickup back even though they had never paid me for it. After a few weeks of calling around different branches I was able to find the title to the pickup as it was sent to the wrong branch. Eventually I was paid but it took much longer than it should of and it was not a transparent process. If I would of known everything up front I would of not purchased the pickup. Also, make sure you read through all of the paper work at signing as they do there best to rush you through closing. They ended up spelling my last name wrong on all of my documents and it's a pain to get it switched as the title and DMV registration is wrong. Also, they make you sign a document that says you'll incur a fee if you payoff early and you'll have to have that loan for 6 months. It was an extremely high rate even though my credit score was in the 750's. The salesman told me at closing you'll only have to keep it for three months so the dealership can get it's incentive but to call them before I paid it off to make sure they don't charge you. But when I called I was informed it's for six months. I'm pretty upset that I was lied to around every corner. Honestly a shady dealership I'd highly recommend to take your business else where.

I bought a new 2019 RAM 1500 Laramie on 2/12
I bought a new 2019 RAM 1500 Laramie on 2/12. I live in Northern California and flew to Idaho with my father-in-law to buy this vehicle and drive it home. When I got there, the vehicle looked fine with no obvious damage. But when I washed it at home on 2/13, I noticed some strange damage to the front bumper and lower undercarriage. There were two big dents on both sides of the front bumper, in the same spots, like they were caused by something hitting it from below. The front splash guards behind the front wheels were also damaged, and there was chipped paint along the body pinch welds. It was clear to me that this damage happened before I drove it home. I took pictures of the damage and sent them to the salesman, Mark D. He got back to me right away and said he would see what he could do. But after several days with no solution, on 2/21 Mark asked me to get an estimate for repairs from a local body shop. The body shop gave me an estimate and said the damage was caused by something hitting the front bumper during transport. I gave the estimate to Mark, and he said the Service Manager, Toby, would need to approve the repair. I waited for days and tried to contact Toby, but couldn't get through. Finally, on 3/2, Mark told me the General Manager, Brandon J, would be contacting me. When I talked to Brandon on Friday 3/13, he refused to take responsibility for the damage and said it was my fault for not inspecting the vehicle before driving it off the lot. He even said the damage happened during my drive back home. As someone who has worked in the automotive dealership industry for over 7 years, I can tell that the vehicle wasn't properly inspected before delivery or the technician didn't document the known damage. If it had been inspected thoroughly, the damage would have been noticed while the truck was on the lift, or the buyer should have been told about the defect(s). I shouldn't have had to deal with this issue when buying a brand new vehicle. If they had followed industry protocol, I would have driven off with an undamaged vehicle. I'm very disappointed with the lack of customer service I've received after spending so much money on a new truck and traveling so far to buy it. It's been a huge disappointment to constantly have to chase down the dealer staff to resolve the damage. I did what they asked, but instead of fixing the damage, they're saying I caused it. I tried reaching out to the owner, Steve D, to get the damage fixed, but he never responded. The GM called me back and said they couldn't do anything. I even showed them pictures of the visible damage on the truck while it was still on their lot. (as seen highlighted below) I strongly advise against traveling to buy from this dealer because it's clear they only care about your money. After spending over $45,000 with them, I expected better treatment. Lesson learned, if a deal seems too good to be true, it probably is...

We bought a new car on 2/8
We bought a new car on 2/8. The car had a scratch on the door and was missing tie downs. They gave us a slip with promised work to fix the scratch and provide the tie downs, but the salesman doesn't reply to emails anymore. I've been emailing him every week since 2/8. We call, and they send us from one person to the next without clear answers. We drove to Weiser last weekend and talked to the sales manager who said he would get in touch by today, Tuesday 3/10, but again, no call and no contact. They're giving us the runaround and haven't shown any intention of following through with the promised work.
On February 29, I bought a 2017 *** from Hometown Motors in Weiser, Idaho
On February 29, I bought a 2017 *** from Hometown Motors in Weiser, Idaho. After the test drive, I told the salesman, Vince M, that I needed 2 ignition keys if I decided to purchase it. I did end up buying the vehicle on February 29th. Vince M said they would find a second key or get me a new one within 2 weeks. On March 14th (2 weeks after the purchase), I contacted Vince M to ask about the second key. He said he never promised a second key and that the purchase was "as is". During the financial closing, the financial manager, Thomas G, asked if anything had been promised to me that he didn't know about. I mentioned the second key. Mr. G didn't discuss it further and didn't give me a copy of the document that clarifies any additional promises. I remember seeing it on his desk, but he didn't pursue the matter. On March 14th, I told Vincent M that I wasn't happy with the purchase because I didn't get a second key. I gave him another week (until today, March 21) to provide the key, but he hasn't done so. I believe Hometown's representative, Vincent M, agreed to give me a second key within 2 weeks, but he hasn't followed through. There's no document in my purchase papers that says Hometown Motors doesn't have to give me a second key. So, they should honor their salesperson's commitment and give me the key as promised.
On 11/14, I contacted Home Town for an internet ad for a pickup listed at $37,900 after discounts.
On 11/14, I reached out to Home Town about an online ad for a pickup priced at $37,900 post-discounts with a sticker price of $57,515. In the purchase negotiations, we agreed on: 1. Trading in my 2013 model 2. Buying a matching shell 3. Adding aftermarket leather to the interior 4. Swapping the 20” Chrome wheels with 275/55r20 for standard wheels with 275/65 18 5. Buying the Motor Company 150k mile, 8-year extended warranty. We set a turn-in and pickup date for 12/18. I wasn't worried about being locked into the new truck since I had paid for the leather and shell and traveled 650 miles for the deal. On the morning of the 18th, Home Town confirmed my arrival; however, the salesman, Justin, was out, and another person was handling the transaction. Upon arrival, none of the agreed items were documented except the truck papers. For my trade-in, I expected above the middle value of their online estimator, which Justin had agreed to, assuming no issues. They offered me 11k, only willing to increase to 11.5k after I objected. The shell and leather work were perfect, but receipts from the dealer and upholstery business were not provided. Despite promises, the truck still had the original tires and wheels, with an offer to swap with a used set from their lot. The extended warranty was quoted at $3,920, which I noted was $500 high, but was told it was a set price. At pickup, only the shell and leather were recorded, forcing me to renegotiate everything else. All pricing issues were noted on paper, and despite asking for a detailed accounting, I was told it was complicated and denied a printout of their calculations. After completing the paperwork under duress, I left with old tires and out of pocket expenses. The registration paperwork from Home Town arrived late at the DMV, resulting in $677 in penalties. The sales contract numbers didn't match the DMV's, leading to an additional $2,172 in fees. Despite contacting Home Town for reimbursement, I received no response.
