Locked out of account
I am constantly locked out of my account for over a year. I need to reset the password, then try to log in 5 minutes later and the system tells me it is an incorrect password again. Calling customer support and asking for a manager does nothing. They ask a bunch of questions like I am too stupid to type in a password, and refuse to get a manager. When I tell them I want to close my account, they hang up on me.
Desired outcome: Either resolve log in issues or close out accout
IRA
In Dec 2021 my IRA value was $365,000. My annual dividend was forthcoming, and I called T Rowe Drive to ask if my share price would decrease by the amount of the dividend, because I had forgotten how that works. Your representative told me "no" that the share price would not decrease with the dividend (which proved a lie of disinformation.) Because I was given this information, I stayed in a fund that was selling off with the rest of the market. Because I stayed in fund based on representative's erroneous information, my fund share price decreased by $6.00, and with the market also beginning to sell off in January 2022, I lost $30,000. I called T More Price immediately, and with the market selling off rapidly I asked to speak to a financial advisor. I did not realize, at the moment, that the representative transferred me to a saleswoman who represented setting up an ActivePlus Portfolio, and who persuaded me to set up my portfolio as an ActivePlus Portfolio. I did not realize that she was not an authentic Financial Advisor. With the market sell off, my portfolio began to decline rapidly in the ActivePlus. I called T Rowe Price again, and customer service transferred me to another ActivePlus salesman instead of a Financial Advisor. This salesman also persuaded me to stay in the ActivePlus, whereby I continued to loose money rapidly. I called T.Rowe Price again, was transferred to another ActivePlus salesman, expressing my panicked concern. This salesman persuaded me to stay in the ActivePlus Portfolio, and when I expressed reservations, he claimed to be a fiduciary advisor, so I stayed in the ActivePlus., because I did not know where else to invest my IRA.
After I had lost $100,000 in the ActivePlus, I moved my remaining funds, around $260,000 to Cash Reserve on my own. I am 63 years old retired on disability. No one at T Rowe Price recommended any investment options for me except the ActivePlus. So I researched T Rowe Price funds on my own and was extremely lucky to find the T Rowe Price Retirement 2020 fund, which paid a monthly dividend, AND SAVED MY LIFE. I found this on my own, without any help from the 4 ActivePlus salespeople I had spoken with. Had I not made this move of my own volition I would have lost more money in ActivePlus without any dividend as the market sunk. Since I have been in Retirement 2020 Fund my portfolio is worth $245,000, but heaven knows how little my portfolio would have been worth had I listened to the T Rowe Price ActivePlus salespeople. Luckily I have been generating a healthy monthly dividend from TRLAX, thanks to myself for finally seeing through the ActivePlus salespeople' misinformation and lies.
Also, I was finally able on my own effort to reach a real T Rowe Price Financial Officer who told me he was unable to assist customers that could not afford to loose much more money, like myself. Another lie. He neither bothered to direct me to TRLAX.
I want an explanation for my having list $120,000 in the early months of 2022, before I noticed myself on my own that I could earn a healthy monthly dividend in TRLAX.

Misleading information about hardship withdrawal
I called T. Rowe Price to find out information about using 401k hardship withdrawal for the burial of my brother. I was told that I could, T. Rowe Price would need proof. So I was told to get a death certificate and invoice from the funeral home, once this was done I called back to see is their anything else was needed and the T. Rowe Price representative told me that I couldn’t do this. I was also told to find a tax professional and put my dead brother on my taxes to use the hardship withdrawal. This is disgusting to play with someone emotions in their time of sorrow.

Transfer of ownership on inherited account.
In November of 2017, my close friend Linda West passed away. She had sent to me a copy of her notarized California Statuatory will naming me beneficiary to all her financial holdings, among which was a T. Rowe Price 401 K. I notified T. Rowe Price of her death and supplied a copy of the statuatory will and the death certificate from Butte County, California. T. Rowe stated they could not transfer funds into my name as Linda had not filed their beneficiary form and that only a letter of testamentary would qualify to have the funds transferred into my name, or liquidated and sent to me. I contacted two legal firms who charged me to apply for the funds with forms they said would initiate the transfer, nor would they provide any information about the account or its balance. The two law forms also informed me that if the estate were under $150,000. no letter of testamentary would be required in California. T.Rowe would not accept those forms nor that information. As an option, I opened probate in Butte County and was named executor and sent those forms to T. Rowe. Again, with no response. I contacted the Butte County Courthouse and was informed that the California courts do not issue letters of testamentary. I was referred to the California Law Library in Sacramento to obtain the correct forms to file for transfer of ownership. I filled those out and again sent a copy of the death certificate. This was months ago and I have still not heard anything from T. Rowe. It is five years later, and I have spent over $3,000 to settle this issue all to no avail.
Desired outcome: Close this account and send me a check for its contents.
Loans/investments
During the “pandemic” I was able to call or file online for a loan or withdrawal and have the money deposited in my bank account 2 days later. No paperwork involved at all. Now that the “pandemic” is over suddenly the T Rowe price company has fell back into the Stone Age and lost the technology to do anything electronically. I wanted to take a loan from my retirement fund which should be streamlined and quick and easy just as it was during the pandemic, instead I had to request paperwork to be mailed to me so I could fill it out and mail it back with the amount requested. That took two weeks. Then after T Rowe price received the loan paperwork it took a few days to process through the loan department. It happened to be a Friday when it processed so of course since the technology seems to have been lost to just deposit the money into my bank account electronically, they had to print and mail a damn check which obviously didn’t mail out til Monday? Here it is Thursday and still no check in the mail. What’s funny is I paid off a loan I previously had through my retirement account and even though that was actually done electronically from my bank account it still took T Rowe price 2 weeks to even process that. The point of this email is that it’s 2022 and T Rowe price has decided that after the “pandemic” that the company can no longer keep up with modern times and so they will do everything by paper and mail. Welcome back to the Stone Age!

im going through the same problem now, only I want to pay back my 401 k loan and instead of doing it electronically they want me send a money order. its a huge payment to be sending in the mail in 2022. all that money TRowe price has and they put their customers through alot

I inherited a T. Rowe Price held IRA in 2017 when a friend passed away. Unfortunately, she did not fill out nor file a priority T. Rowe Price beneficiary form. Instead, she filed a California Statutory Will, which was legally notarized and witnessed. Twice I have submitted a death certificate and copies of the will, each time, receiving from T. Rowe, a letter requesting a letter of testamentary. The trick is, California courts do not issue such a letter. I have now been through two legal firms, and initialed probate in California, as directed to by T. Rowe. I contacted the county clerk in which my friend passed away and was told no letters of testamentary are issued and was directed to obtain from the California State Law Library another form which would serve to complete the transfer of the T, Rowe account. I sent an additional (my last copy of) Death Certificate and another copy of the Statutory Will. It has now been five (5) years of letters, phone calls and delivery of documents to T. Rowe and since the last letter was sent in December 2021, there has been radio silence. In October I will have to return to Northern California to provide a progress report to the Butte County Court on the progress of settling outstanding debts of the estate, of which I have notice of none. I don't know why there should be five years worth of correspondence and legal fees to obtain a letter which doesn't exist in my state. Is this just a ploy for T. Rowe to keep the funds?
Desired outcome: Close the acccount. Send the check.
Failure to follow through as they claim
I filled out a hardship Thursday 21st to receive my money to close on my house Fri 29th at 12pm. I followed their instructions and was told once approved I would see the money wired into my acct within 48hrs. I sent the info next day service to their "overnight/express mail address" were they rec Fri 22nd, the funds exited my acct that Fri 22nd showing a zero balance. I waited till Tue 26th due to weekend and nothing was wired into my banking acct. so I called; was hung up on multiple times, told I didn't send a check, then told they can't actually tell me what happened, and they will set up a "review" of my acct which takes up to 48hrs, yet the CSR said she would call by end of day; no call happened. I called back Wed only to be told the funds have been wired and will be in my acct; still no funds. Today is Friday the day I need the funds to close on my house and still no money. I'm currently on hold with the CSR tells me they re-wired the money yesterday and it should process tonight after 5pm. I said rewire? she said there was a problem the first time and it was returned so they had to redo it. I said I didn't receive a call to notify me of this issue - if there was a problem what was it? to say it won't happen with this wire. she can't say for sure yet will open another review. I said I do not want another review I want answers of what's going on. I already lost my house because I now don't have the funds I needed to close today at noon - so at this point I want answers no more reviews. I've been on hold no 45min awaiting a supervisor and its 732am 30mins after they opened... and they can't get a supervisor to take a call? hmmm finally a supervisor got on the line 45 min later to tell me there was an error, they are very sorry they can't give me more info about why it was rejected the first time until they do a review of situation and no guarantee the funds will be in my acct any sooner than after 5pm if the wire doesn't get rejected again. We reconfirmed my check information which is correct, and she will call me personally today with an answer of what happened the first time and to clarify the funds are being wired this time. I will be calling my bank to find out if they rejected my wire, yet they don't open till 8am Colorado vs Maryland time. At the end of this I lose my house I'm under contract with, the $5K I have put into buying the house and I will be homeless for the apt I live in has been rented since I was to be moved into my new house on the 1st! and all they can do is say sorry - cause that fixes nothing... them calling their banking dept to have them force wire through right in this moment would be a sorry fix for me. this is all their error, their lack of follow through, their failure to do as they say in writing that they do. I will let my employer know to no longer deduct monies from my pay to go into this acct, I will be notifying T. Rowe via certified letter to stop all services and to stop deducting monies from my pay. I will do my own investing and retirement so any screw ups will be on me not strangers who talk a big game to employers who group discount their staff.
Desired outcome: They wire the funds now not wait till after "normal" processing knowing I'm going to lose my house due to their screw up. A quicker remedy is needed to make sure their error doesn't cause a more catastrophic hardship!
Blocked from my account for fallacious reasons.
This Company is using Dishonest Techniques. I was trying to change my email address from work to my personal one and they "Locked Up" my account because I was not given more personal information. They have my information already. I have been member of T. Rowe Price Investment almost 7 years. I gave my name, address, and SS# but they want me like "Re-enroll."
These techniques of humiliate / degrade / discriminate / discredited existing customer/honest clients have to stop.
Desired outcome: Unlocked my account and treat me with respect. Knowledge that I am an around 7 years customer. Assure me that this is not a product of race discrimination.
Disbursement error
I recently requested a disbursement from my retirement account and for the second time it was processed incorrectly. This time no federal taxes were withheld as directed by me. I have spoken with two representatives of TRowe requesting them to immediately withdraw the taxes from my account and they said they can’t. This is going to cause an excessive tax bill for me in 2022. The disbursement was recorded and shows it is their error.
Desired outcome: The taxes of 23% be removed from my account.
Where is my money!!!! 401(k)
On 12 November 2021, I retired after 22 years of service. I have been trying ever since then (it is now 4 months later) to receive my funds. I was originally told there was a problem with my W-9. That was corrected. Then I was told they couldn't do a direct deposit because of a foreign address. I have a military address that every other company I deal with considers to be an US address. I have called numerous times and have spoken to a different person each time. I have asked to be able to speak to the same person and have been told that is impossible, that I'm subject to the luck of the draw. I was told that an itial withdrawal was made on 3 February 2022. When I called on the 16th asking where the check was, I was told that the check had not been cut yet. Really? 13 days AFTER the money is withdrawn and no check? I was told it would be cut that day and put in the mail. One weel later, still no check. I called again. Another person. I was informed that the check had been cut and mailed. Another week passed and still no check. On 1 March I called (another person again) and was told they would try to wire the money to the bank. Still no success, so I decided to close the account. At the time, I had already lost over $40,000 in my fund and had spent over $200 on phone bills. (the toll free number doesn't work overseas). All funds from my account were withdrawn and I was told another check would be mailed. Still haven't seen anything. On 5 March I was told that the checks would be cancelled and the funds wired to my bank. No luck. I called again today and was told the money couldn't be wired. Really? I have been retired now almost 4 months and have almost depleted my savings. I need my money.

Mutual Funds
Like the other complaints, I am having difficulty having my mother's TOD account transferred to me and the other beneficiaries. I keep getting different information on what paperwork is needed and how it is supposed to be completed.
I have sent in every document they requested. My assigned representative is not returning my calls. I managed to speak with a supervisor who confirmed the paperwork was in their files, but didn't know if they were completeded correctly. She promised a call back the next day, but of course did not.
I have been working on this since August.
Desired outcome: I want my mother's accounts closed and transferred to the beneficiaries
Payment not received
Process began mid Sept. 2021 when I requested withdrawal form. It took 2 weeks to get form finally on 9/27. Mailed completed form on 9/28. Called on 10/13 and was told they didn't receive form. Faxed duplicate form on 10/13 and was told all problems were resolved and check would go out by 10/15. Called on 10/25 and was told check would go out on 10/25. Initially I stressed that money was needed by 11/3. Called on 11/1 and was told I should have check by 11/3. It is now 11/8 and I still do not have my money. I ended up having to pay interest on a loan that would not have existed if I had received my money on time. Called today and was told "mail delivery is delayed during the holidays". I didn't know Halloween had an effect on the mail.? I was told they could stop payment and send a new check. Heaven only knows when I would receive that one. Just a warning to small investors like me, this firm does not really care about helping us. By the way, I just read a complaint from another client of T. Rowe Price with identical issue!
Desired outcome: I want my money expressed mailed to me at no cost and a reimbursement of interest on loan.

My name is James McGowian and I was trying to log in to my acct. During the whole hour of trying to get my log in info resolved, I was helped by a lady who did not let me recover my password through my recovery phone number or security questions. I told her my situation about not being able to log in because of a forgotten password. I then asked her what can we do do recover the password and she said the only way to do it is to notarize it in 3 days. I told her in need to get into my act today and she said it's impossible. This was the worst service I've ever had, I have lost and recovered my password for trowe many times and have never felt so disrespected on the phone where I am feeling like I want to withdraw my entire acct be use of this. If I can't access my funds, why should I stay with trowe. The lady's name was Brenda and I spoke with her from 7am-740 and she put me on hold half the time. I am very upset on how she handled me. She was very passive aggressive and Trying to use a sweet voice to make it sound legit. I asked her 4 times, why she couldn't just send a verification code to the phone number on Acct and she said it's protocol. I am Very very disappointed and it ruined my entire day

401k distribution mishandled
Requested a withdrawal from my 401K on April13, 2021. Paid for express delivery. Called after not receiving my check and was told that the total amount taken from my account had been withheld for Federal taxes. I was told that 20% would be withheld for taxes and the remaining proceeds would be mailed to me. My request was for $5, 000.00 after taxes. I even paid for express delivery to my home.
Upon follow up, I was told that it would take two to three weeks to receive my money. Attitude is, we made the mistake and there is nothing you can do about it.
Buyer beware! They feel they are too big to be concerned about customer service!

Loan from your 401k account
I have a 401k loan with T. Rowe Price.
They're deducting money from my pay check and I have no idea where the money are going. They balance that I owe has not changed. I called and the guy told me that the money are going toward interest. I can't see that. He says he can see it, but that information is not disclosed to me, whose money they're actually taking. So much for transparency. What is T. Rowe Price doing with my money and why are they hiding it.
I believe that this is unacceptable.

I took out a $6,000 hardship loan. Over the phone we agreed on $133 on the 1st of the month, and again on the 15th of the month, for a term of 12 months. From the first withdrawal (27th for $266) i called and they claimed we never agreed on the terms i stated. So after them deducting $266 each month on whatever day they felt like, it took TWO years instead of 1, and i paid back over $12,000 said and done. I would never advise anyone to do this, at least with this company. Today i tried to shut the account down completely and cash everything out since my work is suspending me with no pay, if i miss 1 more house payment im getting served papers. They told me they cannot access my funds because the IRS wont let them. I spoke to my father who is has been a CPA for 55 years about it, he laughed and told me not to contact them, theyre being childish, its my money, and im willing to pay the penalties and taxes in FULL..and they still wanna keep it. Im sure ill be on the phone all day tomorrow with a very pleasant experience.

I have tried to change my account since February. Confirmed correct documents were submitted in August. It's now October and was told they needed more documents. However, with persistance from me Martin was able to confirm that all documents were there and they were going to process October 9, 2020. They also transferred me to Gerald who hung up me. Still not completed.
Due to this issue, my $ has been tied up since February.
Service
I requested to have funds from my from a former job rolled over to my new account. This request had been made on 11/29/2019. The person on the phone walked me through how to do this request while on the phone I explained this needed to be correct being it was for an medical emergency. I later found after calling several times that this was done wrong and this caused a check to be sent out. This check was not even made out to me it states t Rowe price before my name. As of 12/11/2019 this request still has not been corrected after being told we have canceled that check 12/32019 that this all can be done electronically if I complete the right form. But as of 12/11/2019 I was told that my request was never completed by this team no reason why it was just never finished on Friday before. I need to complain formerly of this poor and negligent service of request of my money for medical reasons

It was my 3rd time calling in regarding a withdrawal of my funds. I was so lucky to get a super big jerk name Jack Patterson who was unable to spell correctly and locked my account on my security question. I called back because he wouldnt allow me to speak to anyone else. when I called back I got another very rude customer care rep by the name of Maggie sands and she told me I would not be able to access my account until I filled out a form and sent it back to them. HOwever I was logged into my online account and had already spoke to two previous agents before Jack decided to mess with my account. when I asked ms sands to get her supervisor she argued with me and then left me on hold for 12 minutes until I hung up.THIS IS A TERRIBLE MONEY SCHEMING COMPANY DO NOT EVER USE THEM U WILL PAY FOR IT
Can't get through to Workplace Investor Services - tried several times today, one time I was on hold for over 40 minutes, and finally had to hang up because I had to run an errand.
Not a friendly way to have to deal with reporting a death of a loved one who had a 401K with T. Rowe Price.
Also, phone menu didn't work correctly, data entry error messages before you even have a chance to start entering a number, and the menu changed between calls to the same number. Also the computer voice was really creepy - sounded like a female version of HAL from 2001 A Space Odessy. The hold music was tortoruous - a really cool jazz tune (I love jazz) but only about a 1 minute excerpt, repeated over and over with no break.
Having same problem with representatives. Incompetence is their game. Not customer friendly!
I have been trying for 6 months to get access to my IRA account with over $70k in it. Been told repeatedly and after many customer service reps and many hours of holding on line that the problem would be fixed. It has not been fixed and I can't get my money. They are legally stealing my money!
Hardship withdrawal
I tried to get a hardship w/drawl, submitted the court papers showing a possible judgement for old medical bill, only to be told i needed a statement of bill . I contacted the collection company only to be told to contact the health care provider. I did, i paid to overnite papers, i faxed the health statement showing balance i was responsible for and what the insurance paid for, and still denied. Than i was told i had to get a statement from the collection company not health provider. This is the worst company and in 10 days when my wages get garnished im going to send them my eviction paper work as i will not be able to pay my rent or my utilities. I may have to quit my job to get my 7k+ from this company.
Dont ever put money in troweprice, you will not get it back !
Never put money With T.Rowe Price. You Will never get it bac! This is such a true statement. I asked for a roll over that was to take 7-10 business days. It took 6 weeks. I asked to just have the check sent to me. This was an issue, they never processed that request, another 7 days. Then I asked for a distribution, they could not do that either. Their only solution is for me to open a new IRA account with them, and leave my money with them. FDIC next!
Fees
I closed my account with T Rowe Price because of the constant fees I was being charged. Each time I called and complained they said I needed to go to paperless and they would not charge me. 3 times i went through the process and 3 times I continued to be charged. I was about to transfer $100, 000 into that account and now have closed the account because of their ignorance.
