I received and e-mail from a friend where it asked me to join tagged.com and since it was from my friend I opened it up and it immediately attached itself to my yahoo addresses and sent out e-mails to them asking them to join. When I contacted my buddy whom I got it from he stated that it happened to him as well which is why I got it. This is wrong and needs to stop. Sites like this should be banned. The site looks like it is something like a MySpace page. A fraud is what it is.

SPAM SPAM SPAM and a c*ap its also full of google adsense. I didn't accept the invitation and it still sent out an email to everybody in my contacts list asking if they would be my friend? Many unhappy customers, thinking that I had spammed them. Shut the site down. Why does google allow adsense on such a bad site.

While this is undoubtedly one of the worse things associated with the site the Chatrooms which contain Predators and Flamers a mile away are just as bad and it's amazing the site has left that part neglected.

I don't even remember why I joined Tagged.com (probably by recommendation from a friend), but I haven't used it at all since. Almost immediately I started receiving spam sent to the unique address I entered in my tagged profile. These bozos are either wide open to spam harvesters, selling e-mail addresses of their users to spammers or are spammers themselves. Either way, someone should put them out of business.

It's interesting that Tagged.com does not provide any means to change your e-mail address or deactivate/delete your account. I briefly considered complaining to them directly but quickly realized it would be useless at best.

Bottom line: TAGGED.COM = SPAM

This is one of the worst sites on the net. Tricking people out of their contact list is illegal. This jerk at abuse
makes it voluntary on your part if you click "yes" . You gave them the right to take you contacts list without your knowledge...Yeh, that sound like stealing all right!

Should a stranger be asking you for your email login? Most of you know you should not do that, but slick
trickery can fool some.

Read on:

First I want to say, I did not click on yes or no...

I complained to abuse@above.net on behalf of someone else "victim " # ?(who knows)

and hope you all will to. The problem is the above.net person seemed to be defensive of this site, which is unusual. In every case I am aware of, they are trying to "protect" the consumer, but in this case, I was threatened with legal action when I called it "stealing" when it is in fact just that, and I am gathering information from this site as well as others, and may contact people to get declarations if this group of scammers try to threaten me again..Here is the text of the message I received from so called "abuse" see if this sounds like the position someone takes, who is trying to be on the side of you and others who have been scammed by this site.

their position:

Dear Farhana,

"Steal" is a very strong term and carrying possible severe penalties. In every instance that I've investigated to date, the email address and specifically the password for the email account was provided freely by the complainant.

Please provide any evidence that you may have, not just the accusation, that your email password was obtained by means other than by you providing it to them.

Sincerely,

I too fell victim to the chicanery and subterfuge of tagged.com. I will admit to providing my email and password, but the page layout presented a sample list with check boxes giving the appearance that I would be able to control the recipients of my invitations. I filled out a complaint with the FTC and encourage others to do so
https://rn.ftc.gov/pls/dod/wsolcq$.startup .

I also notified abovenet.

I checked the press sites to see if there were any stories on this, and of course the media only report what a brilliant marketing plan they have. It makes my skin crawl to see what is happening to values and ethics today.

Recent victom: Signed up for tagged.com, and while entering the registration info I was prompted for mothers maiden name, which like an idiot I entered. I now have one $15 and another $13 charge showing up on my phone bill, which I specifically tracked down to the exact moments I registered with Tagged.com.

VERY SHADY WEBSITE!

I think its wrong that anyone can get your yahoo address and add you to your freinds without asking if you mind, ESPECIALLY from married men! And when you mention, you don't communicate with married men to them.. you get named called!

I would like to file a complaint with FTC AND the person who is called Playful One in Tagged!

This site doesn't automatically send to new people, it sends only if you tell it to! I just got an email similar to this from Tagged.com and it asked me if it was okay to send to users in my address book. Has it changed since the original post or something?

TAGGED should be SHUTDOWN

My wife signed up at the request of a friend too.

Immediately, 4 companies sending us emails for $14.95/mon servcies to our home phone number.

What a scam!

We have filed complaints with the BBB On-Line - and with the FCC - I'm pretty sure this falls under telephone fraud which is a federal offense.

I keep getting e-mail from Tagged.com asking me if two people are my friends. It says, "Click yes or they will think you said no!" I clicked yes and a form came up, which I did NOT fill out. There is a place to click to stop further emails. I clicked it and there is no place to unsubscribe or have my address removed. Under "privacy, " I found an email address and sent a complaint and said that I wanted it stopped. Today, I got another email asked about the same two friends.
One of my friends said that his siste is signed up but he isn't! They went into the address book of his sister and sent to all of them and somehow got into my friend's address book and sent to all of them, including me. Why is this site not being shut down?

Several people wrote that TAGGED sent email to people in their contact lists, and someone else wrote that they only send email to people you specify. Well, both are wrong. TAGGED sent an email to a friend of my mother's. I don't know her friends last name, and never knew her email. She is not in my address book, and I never mentioned her to TAGGED. They are doing something else to get info like this. I have started the process to get information about launching a class-action lawsuit against them. I *HATE* litigation, and this is a lawsuit-happy culture we live in, and I hate perpetuating that, but these people at TAGGED know exactly what they are doing, and they know it is wrong. They have no right to send unauthorized emails in my name, and no fine print can change the fact that they emailed someone I don't even know, someone who has never been in my address book, and someone with whom I have never communicated... saying that the invitation came from me. Those for or against TAGGED.COM can not possibly read this posting and justify what they did.

I've been on Tagged for a long time and no such thing has happened to me or any of the almost 500 people on my list from around the world that I am aware of.For a long time a website with the address www.taqqed.com posed as www.tagged.com.The difference is G and Q.Before you sign up look carefully at the address.I think Tagged is a good and safe site. The same thing happens on Yahoo, Msn, myspace, bebo and so on and no one has anything to say about that.Take up responsibility and look before you leap.and try point at fingers at some of the porn sites some of you might have been on.

My laptop suddenly thinks I need to use Internet Gateway to share with another computer (I only have one), and when I go into advanced settings of Gateway, the location code of my supposed shared computer disappeared right before my eyes. This never happened before until my daughter started getting on Tagged. It seems like someone is hacking into my computer, and sometimes tries to redirect me to other websites. I have removed Gateway, and disabled everything I could think of but I don't know if it's too late! Having it checked by an expert. Beware.

I've never had problems with Tagged.com [two GG's not two QQ's], Like YuYu said above, make sure you have the right site.

I have tons of friends from around the word and have fun on the site. Not one of my contacts [email or otherwise] have ever been effected by me joining this group. I love it. And about all this spam, I don't get spam like the ones mentioned before me.

So again, maybe it's taqqed.com and not tagged.com your all so concerned about.

Dear Tagged,
I' d like to complain about the Tags Box. I want to delete or to undo it by a simple click and I can't. The other boxes can be undone, but the Tags Box is the only one which I cannot remove.
I've searched every single option, but I couldn't find anything. Please do something to help improoving Tagged and fix this. It's the only thing which annoyed me. Waiting for some help.

I received an Tagged invitation from a friend...tried to log on to see her photos. Had to sign up...somehow they got all my email addresses and sent invitations with my name on them to everyone on my list, saying "log on and see my photos!" I did not have any photos on the site and I did not authorize them to send any messages to anyone. The friend who sent me the invitation (who has no pictures on the site), told me she'd had the same experience. I did find a place on the site to delete my account and when asked why I was deleting it, I explained that I thought their practices were unethical and that I planned to tell everyone on my email list that the emails were not from me and were a fraud and that the site is a scam. If there's a way to get rid of this site, please advise on this site.

"A photo you have posted to Tagged has been reviewed and found to violate Tagged's terms of use. Your Tagged account has been cancelled and can no longer be accessed."

This is what I woke up to this morning. I haven't posted any photos, with the exception of my main profile photo which was just some airplanes. What's going on? I put ALOT of time into my profile. I had 7000+ friends including my mother and son (whom I got involved in Tagged). I had completed all the Mafia Wars levels and had over 7000 Mafia Wars family members. This is pretty serious. If I were to calculate the amount of time I've invested in Tagged/Tagged-Mafia Wars it would be significant. I don't plan to sit back and let Tagged ambiguously erase my friends and efforts. I own my own internet systems development company. I have just registered www.taggedscam.com. If I don't get resolution from Tagged SOON the site will be placed online. If your account has been heartlessly cancelled by Tagged contact me here: contact@taggedscam.com We will become a voice to this big brother that will be heard!

I think tagg should be banned from the internet.
It is unsafe to use and the people on there are mainly scammers players and visa seekers.
You join and i hope you are very careful because they do not take any notice of what people have to say when they report something or someone on that site.
I have had pictures of my kids stolen of there my e-mail has been compramised and other profiles made in my name and e-mail account.
If anyone is thinking of joining this site stay well clear woyuld be my advice unless you want your computer to be hacked because that is what will happen to you .
It is full of scammers and money people on there and most are from asia and russia poland those sort of places and i would say the most are in the philipines which is the worst place on there for cam girls and scammers for a free visa and scamming money so be very careful.
Thanks.

If you were unwise / gullible enough to provide anyone with your e-mail ID and password, then

1. notify everyone in your address book
and
2. stop using that e-mail account
and
3. open a new account.

If you began receiving e-mail from these scumsuckers, then notify those who had recently sent you e-mail and especially those whose name appears on the first 'invitation' to the scam. They will need to perform steps 1, 2 and 3 (above).

Good Day to all the Readers,
I am Hj Mohd Basir from Malaysia, I am a Muslim and would very much appreciate if others too can respect religion as I respect other religion as well. I was so shock to say, that a web site called “” Tagged” in the web so called social network web site is misusing luring innocent people and turning many girls and boy to the wrong path. What I see in this web site, gambling – you pay to buy chips and play poker games, then you have pet games where you see girls with half naked picture, some even with panty, hugging, kissing, with all the vulgar and obscene picture, a lot of Muslim girls exposing their bare body seeking for sex partner, this include even married ladies. Young boys and girls join with cheating their age and mingle in this web site. I fell so ashamed and bad How come the authorities in America allow this, what they don’t have moral or are this allowed?. Women seeking sex partners including girls seeking for Lesbian partner. Are we all people with moral or just an animal. Why cant somebody look into this matter, I hope the Malaysia Islam Center will look into this and consider seriously about banned this web site from accessing so that we will save the moral of our children and the future. Please, to all Muslim counties, I seek your good self to ban this web site and to the American Authorities please consider this by surfing the web page as I mentioned in this mail. If nothing no action been taken, I wont be surprise a lot of our children and women maybe lured into wrong doing. With this I sincerely seek Pusat Islam to look into this matter seriously and please “” BAN”” this web site to avoid and to maintain Islam as the teaching say. This is not a noe man war but I need support and consideration. If you think I am not true please have the pleasure to surf the web page to confirm what I say is true or not.
Thank you so much
Hj. Mohd Basir

Harley Happy Pets..thnx Tagged... if i violated something at least give me some sort of warning, especailly when i'm using my visa. this is pure BS. won't be spending my money again on Tagged that's forsure unless my account get's back with everything that i invested with time and effort.

This is my second account and i dont wish to be deleted, if you think there has been some violating against your TOS, i would apologize and seek your good self to activate back my account, the account is important to me because of the friends i had and all the beautiful things we share. so please dont so hard and alllow me with my apology. To those who are complaining about Tagged being canceled, I just hope it's because New York's Attorney General was successful in shutting down the site.

One example-

"Today I received TWO e-mails from Tagged.com sent to one of my e-mail accounts. When I accessed Tagged.com to see if my brother had really sent the two e-mails, I was asked for my name, age (DOB), and then my e-mail password. That is where I stopped because NO other site needs my e-mail account password!

I sent an e-mail to my brother to determine whether he had really sent the two e-mails.

Then I discovered that TWO e-mails had been sent to another of my e-mail accounts. These also were (supposedly) from my brother.

This certainly smacks of a spammer site."

Additional to the complaints and grievance by many member and non member, I feel so funny and strange on the administration by Tagged Authority. If you look at the TOS, so called and umbrella to say that this Social Network is doing something for value added and not any nonsense. Nut on real thing if you browse one by one the Profile in this Network, we will see hundreds and hundreds of Profile with Nude and obscene image that was NOT identified by anyone. I simply don’t understand why despite of so many complaint why aren’t the Authority concern DID NOT take any action? Just wonder does all the complaint been read and considered or just for the sake of complaint with no action. Sound like the Dog Barking at the Moon. Just look at the image on the profile seeking or playing “”Pets”” game, should the image be in Bikini or exposing. This is a network corrupting the young, married ladies and many more to be immoral. As a Muslim I feel so shame to see that this Network has been approved in many Islamic Countries. Maybe they are just Islam for the sake only but on actual they are barbarian. Read this with your feeling and concern for our children and our moral

What has been mentioned here many times already, (Tagged entering your private email account, and plundering your connection list), is common with a whole suite of websites these days. So, they are not the only ones to abuse privacy in this way.
The email Farhana posted before, ((( Quoted : ...// ... Dear Farhana,
"Steal" is a very strong term and carrying possible severe penalties. In every instance that I've investigated to date, the email address and specifically the password for the email account was provided freely by the complainant.

is a well studied, yet criminal threatening umbrella to cover their own crime, which is generally known as PHISHING. It is not because "...you provided them freely you password...", that the right is at their side. The right is at the side of the user, because they misleaded the user to get it, just as ANY phishing criminals on the web do.
The misleading trick consists of "easy sign up with your email address". And making it so easy, that the "untrained user" provides full access to ALL of their email content to these BIG organised scammers, with their accessory lawyers, without the time to understaand and reflect of what exactly is happening.
Remark 1 : I do not think, this BIG scammer would dare to go in a lawsuit against a user, victim of phishing. They love to SCARE & treathen in the (standard format) email communication, but they know, they are wrong. So, scare off is their self protection model.
Remark 2 : Your email provider will have a contract close with you, user, that you CANNOT share your password to any other person on earth... or loose all rights regarding safety, loss of data and what else (like loosing your access, because the person you shared it with changed YOUR password...), permanently... or up to the point you reset your password to regain control. Email providers contracts are tough in those matters. BUT... then it comes... All email providers KNOW the practices of those contact websites, with their fully automated PHISHING routines. I have NEVER seen one email provider, filing a lawsuit against those websites, for organising illegal access, though misleading the users. (Only well weathered users, know what is going on, and will refuse any "easy" access.) Nor have I ever seen a BOT protection (=against robot access) provided by those email providers. In other words: the big email providers (as well as Facebook...) are accomplices of the generalised data phishing. Perhaps, even money is involved there, in their business-to-bussiness working model ?

There is clearly need of new law, pointing out that not just misleading is punishable (they always can say, that the user aggreed to the small print...), but that ASKING for any access to private data in itself will become a crime, even if the user aggrees. Then, the small print doesn't matter anymore.
It is a law proposal I'm going to file at Belgian and EC level.
I see no real chances in the USA, by the way, (and not even in the UK, except for the route via the EC), as the USA is the worst country on earth (within the western countries) when ik comes to privacy protecting. Privacy has no value in the USA. They alwaays can let you "aggree" on the intrusions. Privacy must be protected by law, and NON waivable from the law through contracts.

As said, Private data phishing is now COMMON, with a majority of contact websites.
