I talked to the contractor and asked for my money back, which was $2600 that the contractor required before starting the work
I talked to the contractor and asked for my money back, which was $2600 that the contractor required before starting the work. No work had begun, and I clearly stated that I wanted a refund. However, the contractor ignored my request when we spoke on the phone. So, I decided to reach out to a lawyer who sent the contractor a notice stating that his contract was not valid because it didn't include the necessary 3-day cancellation clause for buyers. Unfortunately, the contractor didn't respond within the required 14 days. Frustrated, I then contacted the Machining Valley Dispute Resolution Services to see if they could help resolve the issue outside of court. Surprisingly, the contractor hasn't responded to them either and still has my money. If the ComplaintsBoard.com can't assist me, I will have no choice but to take this matter to small claims court.
We paid the salesperson the down payment he requested with a personal check
We paid the salesperson the down payment he requested with a personal check. The team came within two weeks to start replacement of the siding & gutters. Once all the siding was removed, the crew left for the day. The crew never returned, but the salesperson came back requesting more for the down payment, claiming it was insufficient for vendor payments. With my house exposed, I felt compelled to make another payment. After the work was done, my wife handed the salesperson a list of minor issues for repair. He promised a complete fix. To date, only a leaking gutter and two bent downspouts have been addressed. Despite multiple assurances and scheduled dates for repairs, the remaining issues persist. I expect these minor repairs to be addressed promptly.
On July 21 I signed a contract with Tanner's Construction LLC for a roof tune up
On July 21 I signed a contract with Tanner's Construction LLC for a roof tune up. The contract says they will check the whole roof for leaks, fix leak or potential leaks. The roofer came out but didn't go in the attic to find the exact source of the leak. He spent 5 minutes on the roof pounding and left. No issues were told to me at this visit. Exactly 3 months later, water was dripping through the ceiling into my son's bedroom again. It was the same leak, same drip spot. After 6 calls and 3 no show no calls, a roofer was sent. He went in the attic, found where the leak was, and fixed it (he says). He told us we have a 4 foot by 4 foot square area of rotted plywood and lots of mold in the attic. The rotted plywood is because Tanner's didn't find/fix the leak right. I got the whole roof replaced in 2008, including all the plywood. No bad weather happened in my area. This isn't a weather problem. The company hasn't replied to my email about the damage their bad repair caused. I want the plywood replaced. We paid $1295.00 for this bad repair that damaged my home.
We signed 2 contracts with Tanners Construction in Fall 2022
We signed 2 contracts with Tanners Construction in Fall 2022. Contract (1) - New roof on house and garage, including repair to soffit (and decorative trim) and replacement of gutters; Contract (2) - installation of new water heater. Contract 1 was never completed by Tanner. The soffit repair (and decorative trim) and gutter replacement, which was part of the contracted services, was never done, despite promises of completion as soon as they could get a subcontractor. The soffit hole has gotten larger in the interim. The old gutters are failing badly, and we have a new leak in the house proximate to the soffit hole and failing old gutter as well as internal damage due to the new leak. We paid the bulk of Contract 1's price early at Tanner's urgent request. The amount withheld ($2,000) until completion of the contract is not enough to purchase new gutters and repair of soffit (and decorative trim) from another contractor. Contract 2 's new water heater is likely defective as it shuts off fairly often and after failing has to be restarted. Tanner promised to provide us with a purchase receipt but has never done that and ignores our attempts at communication. We fully paid for Contract 2. Regarding Contract 1 - We want Tanner to finish Contract 1, including installation of new gutters and repair of the soffit hole and decorative trim as specified in the original contract. We would also like Tanner to repair the resulting new leak. Regarding Contract 2 - We want Tanner to provide us with a proof of purchase and help us to get repairs from the manufacturer (or provide the repairs directly).
Tanners Construction LLC was hired to change my roof
Tanners Construction LLC was hired to change my roof. They did it in April . On May 9th, I went to my attic and saw a big leak near the chimney. They came quickly. *** told me it was because of my chimney motor that the water was coming in. I contacted my neighbor, who is a general contractor, and the mortar joints were retucked. The top cap was redone too. On June 3rd, there was another heavy rain, and I went to the attic and saw it leaking again. I went up on the roof with a hose and took photos and narrated when I soaked the shingles around the flashing. It was the flashing that was the problem. I sent the video on July 7th and called Tanners. On July 10th, another guy and his son came and fixed the flashing and replaced the shingles around the chimney. I asked him to check the ridge vent that was installed because I felt my attic was not ventilating properly. He came inside and looked at the ridge vent in the attic and saw that the ridge was never cut open for ventilation during the April installation. He contacted Tanners and explained the situation to them. Another guy they sent removed the ridge vent and cut the wood gap open for ventilation, then replaced the ridge vent. He was supposed to replace something near the base of the chimney that had two nails from the top in the shingle. Instead, he accidentally tore off the chimney flashing and the shingles around it, and replaced everything. I don't know why he did this! Now it leaks around the chimney again. I called Tanners and they sent another guy who saw the problem and that the replaced shingles didn't match the originals. Now *** keeps telling me he's sending someone else, and now he won't answer my calls. Please help. I paid for a roof that wouldn't leak. *** needs to fix this.
