Eh, it's alright
Not much to say here that hasn't already been said, so I'll just summarize the main points.
PROS
-big levels with fun shapes (after some small "tutorial" levels)
-relaxing gameplay
-difficult challenges (timed and memory)
-passes the time
-has a zoom function
-endless mode has exclusive rewards that are generally easy to obtain
CONS
-excessive ads (every minute or two, or 30-50 blocks cleared)
-challenges get redundant
-no variation in gameplay
-zoom is either too close or nothing at all, and doesn't aim well
-not hard at all, save for a mild difficulty spike early on where the levels just suddenly get bigger
-little incentive to keep earning coins after about 60 levels (anything you can use the coins on has probably already been obtained)
-unlockables are mostly lackluster
-endless mode has a fake ranking system (you'll start at about #1.5m worldwide, and progress a handful of spots with every rank based on the number of blocks cleared, but if you put the game down for a while you'll find you somehow jumped up like 10k spots)
-coins underutilized (cosmetics only, not for powerups almost at all)
-collectibles necessitate watching ads
So, there are a lot of cons. The pros are JUST good enough to play a level or two here and there, but the reward slope is so shallow and the gameplay so samey, it almost isn't worth the constant ads alone.
Please remove some things
Hello. I love your game, it’s very fun, entertaining, and enjoyable. But, there are a few problems I would like to address.1. Like the stupid “special blocks” they spawn so much when I’m doing a level. It gets annoying having to click on them every time to get a block out this way but then another pops up and it blocked this, so it’s just super annoying.
2. There are SO MANY freaking ads. Every time I play this game I rank up, and once I do, I get a ad. And ranking up is soooooo easy to do. And I rank up so quick that it feels like every 3 mins there is a ad. 3. This may not apply to everyone but maybe do this. The “bombs” you guys have at the bottom of your screen that you can press. When I press it I expect to take my finger and drag the bomb over to some random block and release my finger from the screen and it explodes. But for some reason I have to do that a couple times and I just start pressing and doing random things trying to make it work and once it does it’s in the wrong place or something. So I want you guys to make the bombs a little more easier to use. 4. Make more skins of the blocks like the one you first start out with. Because it starts getting confusing with all the arrows and stuff. But this may not apply to everyone.
Hello. This is the end of my review, I hope you will think about these problems and try to fix them. Goodbye.
Stop interrupting the play
Really enjoyed this game to help me relax and just chill out. It’s not very difficult and you can just get a great groove going. When I first started playing the ads bothered me and so I paid for no ads. Totally worth it as the interruptions of the ads really take away from what I want from the game.
However, the game is determined to keep interrupting you! In endless mode you get notified about levels. This is irritating but endless mode is not my favorite as it seems to be just a cube. In my preferred mode the latest frustration are these ‘special blocks’ that are gold and pull you out to give you coins and try to get you to watch an ad for more coins. I could really care less about the coins. I only like the basic skin and have no use for them. I can’t figure out a way to turn these blocks off and you can’t even ignore them as they keep coming even if you haven’t gotten the previous ones. And they obscure other blocks you need so eventually you have to click on them to finish the puzzle.
There are also difficulties zooming in for puzzles as you cannot slide the puzzle around, just rotate it and zoom. So often you cannot line the edges of the puzzles with your screen properly. I can deal with this but not if I keep getting pulled out of the game for useless stuff I don’t need or care about.
Just let me play the game I paid for! At least give us the option to turn these “special blocks” off.
Fun
Update- I still enjoy playing the game, but…
-1. I have to agree with another player in that during endless mode, I don’t want to be interrupted. I can see my level at the top. I should be able to click on an icon to view my global ranking and not have that interrupt my play.
-2. Please remove all of the icons surrounding the playing area. I have, on more than one occasion, tried to tap a box only to inadvertently reset my game or go to endless mode (and when I go back my game is reset). Also, I’d like to be able to confirm whether or not I want to use a bomb; there’s no way to retract it if it’s accidentally hit. All of these features can be made to be accessed through a menu icon and endless mode should be accessed from the welcome/Home Screen.
-3. Please remove the requirement to click the golden boxes. I don’t want, or have a need for, more coins. All these boxes do is interrupt game play for no beneficial reason.
***For the reasons listed above, I have lowered my rating to 3 stars.
I enjoy playing this game as it helps to shut my mind down when I get into bed. My only complaints are 1-having to constantly watch ads to open boxes. I paid to have no ads, not half of the ads. 2- the golden box that was recently added freezes the game after you click the box. The only way to get back to the game is to close out the app and then open it back up. Please fix. Otherwise this is a fun and relaxing game.
bruh
it’s always been full of bugs, but I’ve put those aside and still played the game. However, with whatever change came within the last day or so, the game isn’t enjoyable to play. Normal blocks continuously change into these “special blocks” that don’t even offer 50 coins, and when you click on them, you get interrupted with a screen giving you an option to double, triple, etc, the amount by watching an ad. And again, they don’t stop coming. You get rid of one? Now you got yourself another. But I mean, you have to get rid of them since they’ll block the other blocks, so it’s just a pain. Also, why do we even need these coin blocks? There’re literally challenge levels that’ll give you 10k+ coins, that are extremely easy.
Not to mention that once you’ve bought those three skins at the top, and the other ones that are purchasable with coins (12 of them, at max costing 500~ish coins), that’s all that you can buy with coins. Your coins from there on just continue to pile up without having anything to spend them on. As I am right now, I’m currently sitting on roughly 544k coins, so why would I have any desire to earn more, especially if it continuously interrupts the normal gameplay?
Also, having ranks on the normal mode makes no sense. It doesn’t show any leaderboard, so you’re not competing with others, you barely earn a few coins, and like in the endless mode, it just interrupts the game whenever you reach a new rank.
Almost Unplayable
I love the game. But I couldn't play it. There are too many interruptions.
I didn't purchase the no ads. But I shouldn't have to. I play solitaries with ads. I found this game through ads. Ads are fine. But they shouldn't interrupt the gameplay.
There are two major problems with ads in this game.
One is that almost every time you "level up" you get an ad. You level up about once per minute. Leveling up does not become more difficult to complete. By the time I uninstalled the game, I was on about level 12 of the game, but had leveled up around 40 times.
The second problem is the golden blocks. From what I have read, these are not removed even if you buy the no ads version.
Once you remove so many blocks from the game, you get golden blocks. These give you coins when you click on them. The problem is, they don't just go away when you click. Clicking them gives a pop up. It will then prompt you to watch an ad for extra coins for around 5 seconds before giving you the option to not watch an ad. Even if you click that you don't want to watch an ad, sometimes an ad will come up anyways.
You can't ignore these golden blocks, as if you don't remove them, you can't complete the level. Even if you buy the game, it will still tell you that you need to watch an ad to get the extra coins, and not immediately give you the option to say no.
This is not worth your time. Go find another free to play game that isn't 50% ads.
Dor
Ads, ads, ads and more ads! Love the concept of this game BUT the ads ens it for me. I tracked the ads interruptions and this is what I got from a single game. 11 ads and about 5 minutes.
Began game:
Level 42, 383 moves available for this guitar shape puzzle.
23 moves, 12 second ad
37 moves, 23 second ad
36 moves, 25 second ad
35 moves, 17 second ad
38 moves, 21 second ad
32 moves, 35 second ad
42 moves, 23 second ad. The ads get you nothing, just interruption.
138 move available BUT no possible moves. For 100 gold coins, I used a bomb that cleared about 5 blocks. Still no possible moves. Another 100 gold coins for a bomb that only cleared 2 blocks. You can’t guide the bomb to any target area either.
Continued game:
31 moves, 44 second ad. 93 moves available and now increased difficulty. Not all moves strike.
44 moves, 34 second ad
46 moves, NO more available. You can get 10 more by watching an ad. Ad was 40 seconds. There are only 7 blocks remaining on the board, I now have the 10 available moves.
I made 3 moves and got an 18 second ad. Prize after clearing the board was 100 gold coins. I sent twice that for 2 useless bombs.
And as for the ad times; they show that an ad will take 5, 10, 20, 30, seconds, NOT. After the ad ends, good luck getting out of it. Worst one is that Royal Match, close the game app, the App Store or Safari, then open game app again, you might still be in the same place.
Do Not Waste Money on the “Ad Free” Upgrade
As the title states, the “ad free” version of this game is entirely misleading. I understand app developers rely on advertisements to produce a profit and keep their games free. However, offering a paid version of the game to remove such advertisements should do just that. This developer instead replaces advertisements with lengthy interruptions where you are forced to watch an advertisement to gain any additional rewards. Otherwise, you still have to sit through level up screens and the useless “golden block” animation that halts gameplay for a few seconds every 10-15 moves. I know a few seconds may not sound like much, but when a fast paced game like this is stopping you dead in your tracks every time you level up (which is too often) or tap on a “golden block” it is no longer a fast paced game- nor is it enjoyable.
I love the concept of this game, and it is quite soothing to me. However, there are plenty of other games that provide continuous disruption free gameplay that are much better than this. If you have a lot of time and/or money to waste, then go ahead and buy the paid upgrade. But for those of you who, like me, just need a fun puzzle game to play when stress is high- look elsewhere.
I’ve emailed the developers as well, seeing as they do not seem concerned at all about the potential customers they are losing. Hopefully, these disruptions will be removed and I can update my review. Until then, it remains at one star.
Glitchy, too many ads, interface poorly designed
Adding my voice to others with suggestions for improvement. The only reason I’m giving it three stars is because the game itself is sound and fun to play. That’s the pro.
The three cons I name in the review title are my biggest complaints.
1) Glitchy. As others have voiced, the game freezes when I claim a special block such that I have to close the app and reopen it to continue. This seriously interrupts game play and is distracting because the puzzle reorients when it reopens and I have to find my place all over again.
2) Ads all the time. The one that gets me the most is the you are “rewarded” with an ad for claiming a special block. Please think through your user experience. Please.
3) Two points on the interface. First, the store and all the menu icons are positioned right over the field of play, so sometimes (for reason #2 below) you can’t click on a block without hitting one of the icons and then you have to totally reorient the puzzle and potentially lose your place.
The second interface issue is that there is no mechanism to re-center or drag the part you are working on back to the center of the screen. You can only manipulate the puzzle graphic along restricted rotational paths. I realize this may be intentional, to make it more difficult. But the blocks themselves are already optically ambiguous enough that a puzzle drag option would be really helpful.
I like this game, but some basic design improvements would go a long way.
Game has a lot of potential but
The amount of ads this game has is a bit unreasonable, I get that the game is free, but watching an ad every minute, plus having to clear these gold blocks just to continue the game (which also pause you for about 10 seconds each time with the option to watch an ad for extra coins)makes it almost impossible to stick to a strategy because I forget what I was doing because of how quickly ads pop up. If you are moving the the puzzle before the ad comes on it’ll jerk ever so slightly past where you were moving and I can only speak for myself, but a 30 second ad will make me forget what I’m doing making it extremely irritating. Overall the concept of the game is fantastic, but I can’t see myself spending 15 dollars USD on a mindless free game I downloaded to pass some time during breaks or playing before I fall asleep. I understand the game has to make money, but when you do so at the expense of the game, it kind of defeats the purpose of putting out a free game, I’d think they’re losing revenue because I have to assume not many people want to play a game for a minute then have to sit through a 30 second ad with absolutely zero reward other than just being able to continue to play. Now if you pay the $15 you still have to click the gold cubes in order to progress the game which still makes you watch an ad if you want to multiply your coins and still makes you sit there for 10 seconds each gold box and there’s about 10 to 15 of them per game. Do better
Pointless coins, levels and gold boxes have made the game glitchy
I really like this game when I first downloaded it. It was pretty relaxing. Paid to remove the ads to get rid of the interruptions in play. Now though…I’m regretting paying for it. The new changes to the game are so ridiculous! Interruptions telling you that you’ve leveled up, when there is no player board to compare yourself to. Earning coins that really amount to no purpose because the “skins” are so distracting you don’t want to purchase and the bombs you can use are pointless as well. The new gold coins that are constantly popping up are probably the most annoying of it all. They stop your play and you must click on them to get the coins in order to continue clearing the blocks. I’m not sure what the algorithm is for how often they pop up, but I’ve had up to 15 on one game before I had no choice but to clear them and more kept coming after that.
The game has also become very glitchy with these updates. I was stuck on level 349 for a week because it didn’t recognize I cleared all the boxes. Ended up deleting the game and reinstalling, only to have the problem continue. It eventually fixed itself, but now the glitch is with the gold blocks. When I clear one and get the unwanted coins, the game freezes up. I then have to close the game out completely, restart it and it picks up where I left off. With 15-30 of these gold boxes, it’s not worth the time anymore.
Hopefully this gets fixed. You would think with the paid version you can change the settings that would eliminate a lot of this.
About to uninstall…
I have the paid version. And I’m about to uninstall. I enjoy the challenges, but have gotten to the point of frustration with the “special blocks”. I don’t watch the ads when I find them and just accept the default coins. But now those blocks are popping up so often, it actually takes away from the challenge. Obviously, when I “find” a special gold block, the path becomes clear. Today, after every 3-4 blocks cleared, a gold block would pop up. As I cleared about 10 gold blocks, more kept popping up. Then I decided to see how far I could get in the game without clearing the gold blocks that popped up. I took a screenshot and it’s good for TapAway that I can’t attach it to this review. There are at least 30 gold blocks to clear and maybe 20 regular blocks. This should scare away potential buyers of the game. And anyone who wants this game needs to buy it because the ads are even more annoying in the free version. It seems clear the makers of TapAway don’t know their business end of things. Almost every gold blocks has an ad video attached that one can watch to earn more coins. Literally, everything has ad videos attached to help one earn more coins. Yes, you can skip the ads. But all this takes so much extra time, my time to play the game is limited. So, even with the paid version it’s not worth it. If these excesses of ad videos were removed from the paid version, TapAway would be a 5-star game. 5 stars = more game buyers and no need for ads. Fix this. I thought the game name TapAway was about clearing blocks. But now it seems the name is about Tapping Away the ads.
TOO … MANY … SPECIAL… BOXES… ♀️
3/2023 TOO …. MANY … SPECIAL … BOXES
Now they pop up in all game play options
what it the need for accruing points of these silly boxes if there is no place the points matter? Just because I still play this game doesn’t mean my opinion isn’t valid. If anything let me “spend” my points to opt out of the boxes that only slow game play. We all know that ad hits is how you actually make $$$ on the project. Find a better way to balance the cash need with gamer experience.
2/2023 Update … special boxes popping up every 22 moves and congratulations on a new level popping up every 36 moves is still super annoying. I keep “earning” points with no place to use them in the game. What is the point of ranking and points if they don’t do anything. It’s not like we’re in competition with other players and I’m not looking to be (that’s what’s bothersome about endless). This is a fun game that is getting improved upon to the detriment of the user enjoyment.
2022 OP … I agree with another reviewer. I don’t like that as a subscriber I am unable to turn off some of the features designed to get me to watch another ad. Also the new ranking in the levels is super annoying, it is bad in endless also. Just frustrated that you improved a simple game beyond usefulness. Please give me the opportunity to opt out of tracking ranking on both endless and levels, also let me opt out of the gold boxes. I understand it needs to be part of the free version but it doesn’t have to be for the subscriber version. Also if you let me choose to use points OR watch an ad for extra moves or additional time that would be helpful also.
Game is relaxing, IF you can play it
The game constantly gets stuck. The screen won’t move, blocks are not showing, etc.
If you run out of moves you CAN NOT start the board over, you are forced to watch a video for more moves and it won’t let you do anything else, not go to infinite mode, not pause, not go into options. Try to close and open and it immediately goes to a watch video screen.
I had 6 moves left and watched a video 3 times, had 18 moves and it still wouldn’t fix itself.
I deleted and reinstalled and lost All of my progress.
My first time installing I paid the $6 (I think) for no adds. There are still “gift boxes” you have the option of watching for bonuses. When they show on the board they do not block the blocks that move, they go through them. Good choice since I paid for no ads. After playing for a week there are blocks that turn to gold that are “bonuses”. They give you extra gold but are pushing you to watch an add. By this I mean the other blocks do not go through them like the gift boxes. To beat the floor you HAVE to click on them, wait for a no option to load and then go back to the game. 20+ in one round!
I guess technically I don’t have adds, I just have to say No to watching the ads to be able to keep playing 20+ times a game along with the pop up smiley face screens (which also pop up constantly but at least fade off in 2 seconds).
Yeah, woo, free gold. Look. I’ve played less than a week on the re-downloaded one and have 419k gold with nothing to use it on. That’s it. Just think about that.
It WAS fun and relaxing until it started constantly glitching and these ridiculous forced ad gold boxes appeared.
Do an overhaul!
Fun! But frustrating
A week ago, maybe even 2 or 3 weeks, I would have given this 5/5 stars. I downloaded this because it looked peaceful, calming, and an easy enough puzzle for my brain to zone out to. It definitely is and it’s SO MUCH FUN. I love the different skins you can unlock, and with the exception of the puzzle collection skin, they’re relatively simple to collect so that makes it even more fun. Endless mode I really enjoy. I also love that we get to see the ranks bump up like they do in endless mode with a global system. I paid for this game because for me it is endlessly fun and enjoyable.
BUT.
Recently there has been an update that’s added “special blocks,” as well as ranks on the standard levels and it makes the game almost entirely unplayable. The special blocks are gold blocks that appear while you’re playing and if you tap on it you collect coins. They take the place of a current block in the game.
While I can appreciate the effort the bring something exciting to the main levels, these “special blocks” get in the way and Force you to tap them to remove. This is quite obnoxious because it’s the same screen that pops up to tell you you’ve ranked and you can’t do anything until it’s done loading through with all its animations and everything.
These blocks would be much more beneficial if they didn’t spawn as often and if they were optional to let the level blocks float through them for the people who have no desire to tap on these money blocks.
The ranking mode in standard almost seems like a redundancy with the global rank in endless as well, and being interrupted regularly to be told I’ve ranked up in standard mode where I’m only rank 40 even though I’ve been playing enough to be on level 216 is frustrating to say the least.
Overall the game has become less fun and more frustration with these changes and I hope they are updated soon.
Frustrated
I want to start off by saying, I love the whole concept of this game and it could be great for relaxing, killing time, and you get to do a little thinking, not much but enough that keep you interested. BUT! Instead there are soooooooooooo many ad’s, more than any other game I have ever played in my life, and I’m 54. To the people reading this, you get an ad after you tap away 20 or 30 blocks. Then you get these gold “special” blocks that get in the way of your moves, so you have to tap them, and every time you tap one, you get another ad. I ended up paying the 5 bucks for no ad’s, and honestly you can’t even notice a difference. It took away the ad’s coming up every 20 or 30 blocks, but you still get an ad every time you tap on the gold special block that pops up around 15 in one game! Not an ad before the game and an ad after the game. You get about 15 ad’s in the middle of one game. At first I thought this game would be so nice and relaxing, but instead I get so unbelievably frustrated because of all the ad’s I have to delete the game. Please don’t waste the five bucks, there isn’t much of a difference with ad’s. I will be playing and know which moves I’m gonna make next, then a gold block comes up and by the time you get back to the game, you forget what your plan was. I know sometimes you have to have ad’s but 1 before you start, 15 during and 1 after is completely ridiculous! Especially after paying 4.99 to not have any ad’s. I guess if you all consider 15 ad’s being no ad’s there won’t be a problem. Oh and the ads that come up are always the long ad’s. You never get a short ad. Also, sometime 2 ad’s will come up in a row! There is a good chance while playing this game, you will break your phone out of frustration! Right before writing this review I quit playing this game in the middle of a game, so as you can probably tell, the frustration I’m feeling is still fresh! So if you have a little time to kill and want to play one game, don’t forget to ad a extra hour on for the ad’s! Just sayen! Your truly,
Miss frustrated!
Very fun! But Unplayable
I got an ad for this game while playing another game, and it looked entertaining enough that I decided to download it. It’s a fun game, but it gets to a point where it’s absolutely unplayable.
The first few levels serve as a tutorial for the game, and there are only a couple of blocks on screen at a time. There are some ads, but it’s not too bad. Definitely a bit annoying, but I understand that apps like these need to run ads to make money. Some ads were opt-in, and some were forced upon me, but it is what it is.
As the levels increase, the block patterns become more complex, and the game starts to get interesting and fun. I found that it was a nice mindless game to play. Very calming and relaxing, between the nasty zombie ads. They offer you a few skins and effects for completing levels, and I thought the fish skin was very cute and made the game enjoyable.
However, once you get to Level 10, the app starts to lag SO much. I am playing on a relatively new iPad, and at level 15 I had to just delete the app. The number of blocks greatly increases past level 10, and I think the game has trouble rendering all of the blocks and their directions.
Tapping a block would take a few seconds to register, dragging to turn the point of view was laggy and disorienting, and you get pop-ups every 15 blocks or so telling you that you’ve gone up a rank, which breaks the flow of the game and gives the app one more thing to compute. They also added in special blocks, which give you coins, but add in another pop-up. Add in the random pop-up ads and it’s a nightmare to play.
At a certain point, mid level 15, the app just stopped responding. I tried to go to the Home Screen, and my iPad was working so slowly that it just froze and wouldn’t let me do anything. It took a good few minutes for the iPad to respond to any command, let alone to sort everything out and for the iPad to finally let me cancel out of the app, and at that point I just decided to delete the app.
I’m very disappointed that the app was so laggy, as I was really enjoying the gameplay. But in the end, it was impossible to play, and just as it started getting good.
This game rubs me the wrong way
Haha, as crazy as it sounds, I low key feel offended by the way the angry emoji looks straight into my soul after I screwed the level up, because I was bored within ten minutes of playing.
Though, it has a lot of options, lots of facets to it that make it neat, I try not to be overwhelmed. honestly I’m so retarded that the OG skin you start out with, makes it so I have to consciously think about which direction it goes
It must not be a very good design...
I was initially interested in it when I saw an ad for it on some game, usually don’t care, I’ve seen em all, this one just looked unique. And I was immediately interested in the reviews, oh boy... it was something. Then I figured, because of the ad complaints, I’d do what I do with other games where I cut off the cellular from that app. But it still finds ways to punish you for such an act! And not in the way where you aren’t allowed to play period, with out WiFi or Cellular. It still interrupts the game in stupid ways, and tries to feed you ads reach certain things, for instance if you want to replay a challenge level, you can’t unless you watch an ad. And honestly it hurts my brain in ways I didn’t think would hurt so bad. Like how you have limited moves, and you’d have an IQ level below freezing to make more than two mistakes on easy.
It seems like it has a lot of promise, that’s saying something for a cheap mobile game with, sub par graphics with basic concepts and design. The ad thing is what you ought to expect from any piece of shizen like this one.
One thing that is uniquely horrible about this game that I don’t believe any other reviews tell you is that once you get to a certain size puzzle it becomes dreadful. Think about that for a sec, what mobile game causes you dread? if you have a game like that rid yourself of it.
It takes five years to complete level 11 with the big ring thing and I remembered how pointless this game is as a pass time. Y’all that thing woulda taken twenty minutes minimum. I wonder if this is just, I can’t put that much determination into something so pointlessly arduous. Not fun.
I give this 1 star because I feel insulted by its existence.
Retry option stopped working, want less than 1
3rd review after deleting and reinstalling app twice, same issue all of a sudden the retry options stop working, it just returns you to the game with 1 move, when clicking retry it does the same thing again. Now watching the ad doesn’t give the 10 moves
2nd review Earlier today the retry button worked as expected. I just ran out of moves and it is no longer working. The only option is to watch the ad. Note I’ve already deleted and reinstalled the app once due to this issue. It worked for a few days then stopped. Very annoying.
Original: The only blocks left are two special ones and the puzzle piece. I have multiple moves left, but once I remove the two special blocks the puzzle piece doesn’t appear. The restart button doesn’t restart the level at the beginning. Update: very frustrated. Game is stuck in a loop and can’t get past level 74. I need 30ish moves and have 1 left. When I play the one I get the out of moves message and I select retry, however it restarts in the same spot with one move left. I’ve tried clicking the restart button, but it keeps restarting in the same place too. It would sure be nice if there was a way to contact support. By The way I finally figured out how to turn off the trailing feature, but not really sure how I did it. Original: Continue to play as the best of this type of game. Based on other reviews won’t be purchasing ad free, so I’ll only be playing until I can’t take it anymore. Now there is another annoyance, I unlocked this feature that produces bubbles or a splash after I move a cube. Very distracting. I can’t figure out how to turn it off. Or how to contact anyone. Other games have ways to contact for support. Guessing I might not play much longer, unless a developer contacts me and tells me how to turn this off. Initial review: I get that if I have a free version of a game that there will be ads. However the fact that there are ads during rounds is annoying. Even worse is the number of these ads. During one round I got 11. I have only two other games which insist on interrupting play for ads, and I rarely play them. I try them every once in a while to see if they have changed. But, 11, this is ridiculous. I very rarely purchase games, and always play the free version for a bit first to make sure I like it. I can’t play enough to make that decision, and one of the reviews stated that purchasing the ad free version didn’t stop game interruptions. Lastly, get rid of the special blocks, annoying.
Game is frozen *again* on treasure chests, cannot play, cannot use iPad until game is force closed
May 27, 2023: I got the update you put out a day or so ago, restarted my iPad, and it fixed the treasure chest problem… for one day… and only on Wi-Fi. The glitch is back like before, everything stuck, so I’m back here too. Please just completely remove the treasure chests, maybe even revert to a version prior to the chests, and add in the unrelated bug fixes.
May 24, 2023: I would give zero stars because the game is completely broken now. Devs added treasure chests and keys to the main level at first, then people complained because they slowed the game/created speed bumps, so devs moved the keys & chests to the daily challenges. But now it has a glitch: every time I try to play anything, anywhere, on any level, at all, within this app, it goes straight to a screen with dancing treasure chests like it wants me to select which ones to open, only nothing happens, nothing opens, nothing changes. I can tap anywhere on the screen and it will do nothing. ***I cannot use my iPad.*** Thank God I have an older model with a physical Home button to use for closing apps! I cannot get back to the Home Screen of the app without first fully closing down the app, so I do. Restart the app. Now I’m back at the opening screen where I can select any game mode, but no matter what I click, it goes straight to the dancing treasure chests that can’t be clicked. ***I cannot play this game until this is fixed.*** March 5th, 2023: Took another star off, guys… It appears the reviews are the best way to reach you, so I’ll post both here, and through the app. I have the current version as of today, March 5th, and the shiny golden Special Blocks are now ridiculous. They turn another regular block into a Special Block about every 1.5 seconds, which leaves me with an absolutely unplayable mess of unwanted gold. I already have more coins than I can spend, why would I want more? This used to be such a fun, smooth game, to be played as fast as I’d like, but now it’s all speed bumps. Additionally, you made it so we really had to wait for the blue “let me move on without watching a video” button to fully show up before we can clear each special block. One. By. One. And that’s with Wi-Fi off. If I had to sit through a video, I wouldn’t bother with a review, I’d uninstall it and never look back. Let me play without any special blocks whatsoever. I like the speed challenge that comes with the daily challenges, let's see more of that. I uninstall games that have speed bumps. This is not hard to fix, for either of us. Beyond that, this game used to have very smooth play, especially when not on Wi-Fi. The graphics will jump around sometimes when motioning through various angles of 3D, especially on Wi-Fi, but overall a great game. However, events are never posted on time. I played consistently over the holidays, hoping to win the Christmas blocks, but the challenges never came up. Holiday season came and went, multiple updates came and went, and still no Christmas challenges. I figured maybe it was just a holiday issue, but devs also seem to not know when the first of each month rolls around. Today is March 5th, and the March monthly challenges are still not posted. I have a notification icon for them on the Home Screen (when the game first boots up), and on the side bar, but both buttons only give me November thru February, all of which are complete. It was cute having a heart shape on Valentine’s Day, and I’m hoping this will be resolved soon enough to enjoy a shamrock on St. Patrick’s Day.

Fun idea poorly executed - frustrating …
Dear owners, please redesign this game to be good.
The game itself is very satisfying until it gets interrupted by an ad to sell- sell- selll!
The graphics are poor sad and ugly. The arrows are too small to be comfortable. The contrasting colors are too close and difficult to see easily.
The only (2) designs that work are the simple large dark pink or green chevron. The yellow is too similar in contrast to the white and the background.
Very frustrating.
The background is too bright and light. It is very glaring against the almost same colors of cube.
Very harsh.
As soon as you are making progress with some complex moves you get yanked away by some meaningless ads. The block group does not go to where you left off but to the original start position.
Very frustrating.
It only has one zoom-too close or real far. It would be better to have a variable zoom.
Very sucky.
Why did you make a game that is difficult to see and difficult to enjoy?
Please change it to a game that does not push people away from. Make a game that enrolls them into it.
New stuff added that detracts
I used to greatly enjoy this game but recently they added interfering elements:
1) special gold bricks that have to be tapped and waste time with an ad, or take time to decline. Get rid of them, or offer as an option!
2) cutesy “level” emojis that you have to tap to get rid of, in the middle of play - in the middle of a current level! Get rid of them! Yuck!
———
Also, the game is a memory hog, and as you play, instead of freeing up the memory each level, some of it is kept. I’m assuming the coders are relying on automatic garbage collection, rather than explicitly freeing memory. Come on guys, it’s a fairly simply programming fix! Don’t be lazy! Objective C allows explicit freeing of resources.
I often have to exit the game, and then reenter after a while, or it is d e a d l y s l o w!
When memory is used, panning in and out, and turning the blocks becomes slow and jerky.
Fun game, but could be GREATLY improved.
———————-
If the detracting elements remain, I will have to relegate a formerly favorite game to the maybe sometimes play group, or put it in limbo.
I hate this game
I bought this game so I could escape the ceaseless parade of 30+ second ads it showed for other games. It kept trying to entice me to watch more ads with endless simplistic”puzzles” whose only purpose was to make you watch more ads. I’m now up to Level 588 - obviously I used to like it a lot! - and on two turns in a row the only thing it would allow me to do was to attempt to click 4-6 cubes with only one click. The only way it would allow you to proceed was to “purchase” 10 more clicks by watching a 30-second ad. Quitting and restarting the game multiple times had no effect. It always brought you immediately back to the same choice. It was like a episode of The Twilight Zone! Exasperated, I finally gave in and let the hateful ad play - with my iPad face down on the floor. I got through that and figured that now I could once again play this relaxing game. The very next game it gives me six cubes to click with only 1 available click, unless of course I watch another of their damnable ads. This game (Tap Away) and the company that spawned it (Popcore GmbH) are now dead to me forever!

This used to be a 5 star app
I’ve played this game for a couple years; since before it was “3D”. It was simple yet challenging and quite addictive. L O V E D it. And then the upgrades started. ‘Zoom’ is a new feature; except it’s either in or out without any in between. You can see the block you’re tapping but not its path. Very frustrating. ‘Moves’ are also new; which is a definite drawback for people like me who don’t have steady hands. There’s no option to choose this feature or not, unless you’re content with the boring (and unchallenging) infinity cube. Finally - and this is the most infuriating part of all - do not click out of the game for any incoming messages, notifications, phone calls, etc. When you switch back, your entire progress resets; regardless of how far you were in the puzzle. It’s heartbreaking to struggle with the disadvantages to 275 moves into a 300+ move piece and have to take a phone call knowing it was all in vain. I reached out via email to Popcore over an issue with the ads early on, received a generic response, replied to them, and never heard back. Unfortunately, do not recommend this game any longer.
Hate the changes
The new gold cubes that are supposed to be a reward all they do is interrupt play. You can’t go past certain cubes without stopping to acknowledge these stupid cold cubes that don’t give you much at all. All they do is encourage you to watch a video. I paid so I don’t have to watch the stupid ads. I don’t care about having more points, because the points really don’t give you any advantage. For me it’s just aMindless activity to help me destress. But, when you have to stop the game to deal with the stupid cold cubes, and every time you reach a new level you have to stop the game to acknowledge the new level. This game isn’t fun. The whole point for me with this game is to distress. I don’t need to stop the game to doThese tasks that have no purpose. If you don’t either given the option to not have these tasks or eliminate them all together I’m going to stop playing the game. Losing me may mean nothing, however in reading the recent reviews, it appears mine is not the only opinion like this. I haven’t seen anybody who seems to enjoy the changes that you have made. You might wanna roll those changes back, or I may not be the only customer you lose.
Epic Fail Developers!
5/1/23 it’s as if the developers can’t read or don’t care. After all the complaints about the gold blocks what do they do? They add silver ones. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?!?! They don’t go away immediately and there’s a bug and you can get stuck with the chests but no keys! So done until they get rid of those dammmmmm blocks cuz you can’t even get 10 seconds of play with out something popping up. Eff that!
This is a great game however the developers ruined it. Between the ‘special’ blocks and the game announcing your level, you’re lucky to get in 5 taps before being interrupted! I want to play the game! I understand the ‘special’ blocks provide income but who the heck cares about their game level? Does the game really need to stop the player every 10-15 seconds to announce it? Please change this so people can actually enjoy this really cool game. I will update my review if things change but for now it’s a great game but ruined cuz you’re constantly acknowledging either a special block or level increases. Just let us play! I can’t imagine people who haven’t paid to remove ads get any game play at all. You have a great game here, just make it more enjoyable for the player!
Too many interruptions and bugs
Update: recent versions are so buggy, with so many interruptions to gameplay, I’m deleting the game, notwithstanding my recent purchase. It’s not worth it, how much this game leaves me annoyed. For example: the new “special” block feature. Don’t leave a special block to be the last one you clear, or you might get stuck/trapped in an empty level with no way to progress forward. Like I am.
Original: Bought this game a few weeks ago because gameplay was chill and there were WAY too many ads in the free version. It was great for a few weeks. Fantastic way to pass time if that’s what you’re looking for. But the last couple of updates have been really disappointing. First was an update that apparently broke some of the 3D textures on my phone (iPhone 12 Pro) … instead of gold reflective I get buggy, flat hot pink. Destroys what was my favorite skin to play. Multiple reboots and OS patches have not fixed it. Then there was the update so it now interrupts gameplay every minute or so to tell me that I’m advancing to a new “rank”. Talk about annoying! Please make it so I can opt out of these constant pop ups. Honestly, I like the game but I’m about to uninstall unless it stops going downhill.
PAID NO-ADS, TOOK MY MONEY THEN SAID “DIDN’T GO THROUGH
I paid twice the $4.99 to remove the ads, and twice, my money was deducted, then TWICE, I got the “Could not finish purchase, check your internet.” BULL$T! (The only reason why I happened to do it twice is because I had forgotten that I did this a month prior and at the time I was playing a bunch of new games so I’d actually forgotten that I already purchased no ads) My Internet was completely fine and it still deducted the money from my account, and the ads were still there. I tried hitting “restore purchases,“ and it still didn’t work. I emailed them through their website and sent a separate email and still have gotten NO response. Finally I asked Apple for a refund and the problem with that is I can only ask for one refund so I’m still out five bucks! It’s very annoying to have the money taken out and still have to watch through their 50 million ads. If they would fix that issue I’d actually be pretty happy with the game. And there was another user who said the developers don’t seem to be reading these comments and I would have to agree that that is true. I don’t understand these app developers, once they start making their millions of dollars, they abandon the players who are making them rich, it’s absolutely despicable!
Too many interruptions
When I download it and played the game for the first time it was enjoyable. It took some thinking to clear the level and there were minimal interruptions. Before long, you figure out that there is a simple way to do the puzzle without having to think. The blocks are colored in a certain way so that you can see which is the top (which direction it will move when you tap it).All I had to do was rotate the puzzle to look at a certain face, remove all the blocks of a certain color, rotate to another face and repeat. It took the thinking out of it but was still somewhat enjoyable.
The next time I started playing, the game was very different. I don’t know if it was because of an update or if it just knew that I was no longer new to it. About every 20 or 30 seconds during the game it would stop, tell me that I had obtained a new level or rank and force me to watch an ad. Then It started inserting many “special blocks” and every time you remove one the game stops and shows an animation and gives you the option to watch an ad for coins. After a delay it gives you the option to not watch an ad for fewer coins. The coins are useless in my opinion.
The final straw was that it then changed the look of the blocks so that it was very difficult to see which side of the block was which. I’ll be uninstalling.
Too easy
I saw an ad for this that looked challenging and fun. I figured it would start off easy; it did. I expected it to get harder; it hasn’t yet. Unfortunately that means repetitive and boring. I just got the game yesterday so maybe I’ll play a little more before deleting, but I’m on something like level 115 already and it’s all the same. Even the “challenges” are the same. Another irritating thing is some of the skins are very hard on my eyes, some make it difficult to determine depth, some are difficult to “read” (as in hard to tell the arrows are arrows let alone which way they are pointing). The eyestrain is not fun at all so I end up going back to the original skin. I wanted to like this, I really wanted to like it. The potential is there. Maybe if more of it was like the ad where some of the blocks are different sizes and the player has to move (instead of remove) some blocks in order to remove others. Maybe if there were ways for the player to get stuck. Maybe if I hadn’t mastered it in 10 seconds…
Another suggestion to the developers: please don’t ask for a review so soon after someone downloads the game. At least give the player time to get to more challenging levels first (this is a double hint).
Note: I played offline. Thank you to those reviewers that warned about the excessive advertisements.
Get rid of special blocks and all the other interruptions
I paid for the app and now with these “improvements”. It’s not about getting a higher score than someone else

Ad Happy
Way too many ads. Seems like every 2 minutes you have to sit through another ad. Plus the interface is clunky at best. Hard to spin the blocks with any control. Zoom doesn’t work very well at all.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Headache
Good enough game play. Problem is the blocks are either painfully small to see, or blown up so there is only half of them displayed on the screen.
This game desperately needs a controlled zoom feature. Without it I will likely have to delete the game.

The ads killed it for me
• Very interesting and appealing game mechanics
• zoom (pinch) feature is very choppy
• mapping 3d trajectories is cumbersome
Having your game interrupted by annoying ads this many times is just unacceptable no matter what you think about the game! I am not ad averse but there should be a reasonable balance between ad time and gameplay time.

Sad face
Love the game itself…minus the skins. But I hate the fact this game shuts down on me either mid puzzle or anytime an add pops up…and there are a lot lot lot of ads! So I have to restart the game each time, because it just shuts down. Wish it wouldn’t do that….but if it didn’t I guess I’d be a bit addicted to the game.also wish there was a way to zoom in to your liking…instead of way too close or way too far. Just sayin
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I paid so please get rid of the gold cubes and the leaderboard interruptions. I just want to play the game
Nov 2023. The skins have changed and are not ones that I can see well. Why do games have to “fix” things that aren’t broke just for the sake of change. These puffy skins with little arrows suck. I won’t keep playing this game if they don’t go back to the way they were.
Paid $4.99 to have no ads and still get ads every time I play.
