I gotta say, Teachers Credit Union is not my favorite
I gotta say, Teachers Credit Union is not my favorite. When I try to pay my mortgage online, they charge me an extra 17 bucks! That's 10 dollars just for transferring money from my Chase checking account, and another 7 dollars for some random "miscellaneous administration charges." It's such a pain that I have to go in and give them a check because they take so much money for admin fees. It's just not fair.
I got a car loan from *** on the recommendation of the car dealer
I got a car loan from *** on the recommendation of the car dealer. It was a bad experience from the beginning. The call center staff was rude and unhelpful. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, they never called me back. My husband and I have been married for 46 years and have dealt with many banks, but we will never do business with this place again.
I never had to work so hard to give someone money
I never had to work so hard to give someone money. My mom got in a car wreck and missed a payment. I called to pay, but they sent me to collections without telling me (after calling me back 90 minutes later). They said they can't take debt payments. I've never been told "no" when trying to give someone money. It seems like they want you to fail. I'm switching banks for sure. They're the worst banks ever.
I been with TCU since **** and they been good but now I can't use their bill pay on their new site
I been with TCU since *** and they been good but now I can't use their bill pay on their new site. I called and they said I need to turn off my pop-up blocker (I don't have one) or reinstall *** Edge (it work fine with other sites). They said they can use bill pay on their end but that don't help me. They should fix it instead of making me do it. When you call, you gotta listen to a lot of bot talk before you talk to someone. I'm gonna go somewhere else.
I redid my mortgage with TCU a few months back and it's been a real hassle since then
I redid my mortgage with TCU a few months back and it's been a real hassle since then. My old mortgage company was way better with online stuff, but TCU's online banking is a joke. The first payment I made, I had to call them for like 30 minutes just to get it done. And ever since then, it's been a real pain to pay my mortgage. I tried to set up autopay from my other checking account, but it didn't work. I tried to do a one-time bill payment, but that didn't work either. And they charge all kinds of fees just to pay your mortgage. Plus, they sent $200 extra to my mortgage insurance after I already called them to pay it, so now I gotta figure out how to get that money back into my escrow account.
This company, Teachers Credit Union, has treated me poorly
This company, Teachers Credit Union, has treated me poorly. The first time was when my dad sent me a money order and I tried to deposit it, but they questioned me about who he was. It's just a money order, come on! Then they accused me of fraud for money that was deposited into my account, but I know it's legit. They won't believe me though. Now I can only use my debit card as credit, and I can't get cash from the ATM. I have to go inside or talk to a teller, which is a pain. When I can, I'm closing my account and going somewhere else. Plus, they charge me $5 every month just to use my own money! That's $60 a year! And Scott at the Indianapolis location treated me like I did something wrong. The security people didn't believe me either. They had no right to ask me where I got the money or who I'm seeing. I'm reporting them. Thanks.
Their customer service is terrible, don't expect much
Their customer service is terrible, don't expect much. Their website and phone app are outdated and not optimized for phones. Good luck trying to call them, you probably won't get through. Making electronic payments without human help is almost impossible. They push you to make recurring payments, which I don't like, or write a check and mail it, which is outdated. They didn't close my checking account and charged me for a subscription payment. They even opened two checking accounts for me, and one is still open for no reason. It took me three hours to make a car loan payment. Their customer service is a disaster, and I wouldn't recommend them for any financial products. Very disappointing.
I just refinanced my mortgage with Teachers Credit Union
I just refinanced my mortgage with Teachers Credit Union. Now, it's time to make my first payment. During the mortgage process, they told me I could make my payment through another bank. But, it's really hard to do that. There's a 60-day waiting period to set up a payment from another bank. Nobody could tell me why. Also, there's a $1000 limit on how much you can transfer from an external bank. My mortgage is more than that, so I talked to someone about using online banking. They said I have to transfer the payment from my bank into a TCU savings account. But, there's still a $1000 limit. So, I have to make three separate transfers and wait up to three days for each transfer to process. Then, I can transfer the money from my TCU savings account into my mortgage account. I've never had this problem with my other banks. It's the worst online banking system ever! They're still operating like it's the 90s. The only other options they gave me were to make a payment with a call center operator, mail a check, or pay in person. As soon as I can, I'm going to refinance with another provider and never use TCU again.
I got a car loan from Teachers Credit Union to buy my car
I got a car loan from Teachers Credit Union to buy my car. When I went to pay the last payment, I paid the exact balance I had in my account at that time. This was my first car that I paid for myself, so I didn't know that interest had accumulated over the term of my loan, and it wasn't reflected in the loan balance when I went to make the payment. A few months later, I applied for a mortgage and was surprised to see that my credit report had a flagged 30-day late payment from ***. I went to the branch and found out that there was only .02$ in my account, and they flagged it on my credit report. Technically, it was my mistake, and I admit that. I talked to several people at *** who agreed that a $.02 balance should not have been flagged on a credit report. They talked to the head of their credit department, but their response was too bad. Even though *** was making 5% interest on my car loan, they still felt the $.02 balance was enough to flag my report without even a phone call! To put this into context, I was applying for my mortgage in June 2022, and interest rates were shooting through the roof. Other than that one flag, I had no blemishes on my credit report. The impact this had on me and my family was basically going from a 750+ credit rating to something more in line with a fair credit rating. I pleaded and begged, but they refused. This is not the way you treat customers- over .02$. It's hard to say, but I would say the impact of this is an additional $150-$250 each month on my mortgage. And I have to live with that for the next 7 years. Thanks a lot, Teachers Credit Union. They talk like they are part of the community and will help you out, but it's all lies. The sad thing is I know that this is happening to others as well. Don't bank there, don't finance with ***. They are the worst. Don't say I didn't warn you.

My pension check is supposed to come on the 1st, but sometimes it comes early if it's a weekend or holiday
My pension check is supposed to come on the 1st, but sometimes it comes early if it's a weekend or holiday. TCU always puts it in my account on the Friday before. But this month, they're holding onto it until the 3rd, which is frustrating.
I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY TEACHERS CREDIT UNION IS HOLDING MY PENSION CHECK UNTIL 7/3 WHEN IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE DUE ON THE 1ST
I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY TEACHERS CREDIT UNION IS HOLDING MY PENSION CHECK UNTIL 7/3 WHEN IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE DUE ON THE 1ST. LAST MONTH, I RECEIVED IT ON 7/31 BECAUSE THE 1ST FELL ON A SATURDAY. THEY TOLD ME TO CHECK WITH MY COMPANY, BUT THAT'S NOT THE ISSUE. ALSO, THEY GAVE ME TWO CARDS WITH THE SAME NUMBER, WHICH CAUSED PROBLEMS. I WAS CHARGED FOR A PRODUCT I DIDN'T HAVE, AND THEY LIED ABOUT IT. PLUS, THEY CHARGED ME $6 FOR A MONEY ORDER AT THE POST OFFICE. I'M THINKING OF CLOSING MY ACCOUNT AND WANT TO KNOW WHY THEY THINK THEY CAN DO THIS.
I went to Teachers Credit Union on Monday, August 1, 2022 to deposit $500
I went to Teachers Credit Union on Monday, August 1, 2022 to deposit $500. The drive-up ATM shut down and didn't complete my transaction. The manager said that because I bank with Navy Federal, which is out of state, I would have to wait for the Brinks truck to count the funds. They said they would update me, but I had to call them on Tuesday to find out that my card was found. However, they didn't tell me when it was found and I haven't received any funds yet. Now they're saying they have to wait for *** to contact them to determine the amount of funds discrepancy. I haven't heard any updates or communications from the bank about this matter. I need my money back. The machine malfunctioned and now I'm suffering because of it.

I had a CD with Teachers Credit Union for $11,000 that matured on 10/8.
I had a CD with Teachers Credit Union for $11,000 that matured on 10/8. I intended to transfer the funds to NFS Financial Services, completing the required paperwork for a direct rollover. However, TCU mistakenly sent a cashier's check to MFS, not NFS, leading to processing issues due to the incorrect recipient. The whereabouts of the check became unknown. On 10/18, I requested TCU to halt the initial payment and issue a new check to the correct institution, NFS. Despite numerous calls, assistance was lacking, and promises of a managerial callback were unfulfilled. On 10/25, I was informed that reissuance of the check was contingent on the return of the original, which was lost. Requests for managerial intervention were ignored. Three weeks have passed, and my $11,000 is still unaccounted for, which is unacceptable.
