Tem concepts is an awful company to work for. They sell directv at best buy and sam's club among other places occasionally. They have you drive to their office every morning before he ships you off all over the place, sometimes as far as 45 miles away, all without reimbursement. These meetings consist of the owner coming in and telling you your not doing well enough before he goes and plays golf.
Tem concepts is run by two guys who don't really do anything but make sure you go to your store every day. They don't care about anything but their money. They will jump at any excuse to take your money. They are immature and unprofessional. When I left the company, I had a check coming to me. The owner not only paid me minimum wage for the 2 days instead of my commission, but he tried not to give it to me. After four weeks of tom moore not answering my calls, I emailed him via the companies fantasy football league. The next day, I got a call from one of my ex coworkers telling me to come to the best buy he was working and get my check. A check that should've been mailed to me weeks ago.
Don't ever work for this company. They are dishonest, they will lie to you so you unknowingly lie to the customers. They will steal your money. They make promises of promotion and big money, but no one ever gets there. When the fog clears, its just a minimum wage pyramid scam. Beware! It will cost you more than you make to work here.
I worked for TEM Concepts for 3 months selling DirecTV. They often tell you false information about the Direct TV service and you unknowingly rip customers off. They never give you any formal training and expect you to "just get it" within an unreasonable amount of time. If you don't make at least like 2 sales a day you make minimum wage, and they will try to take what ever money they can from you. They make up stupid excuses when they give you any reason at all for taking your money. Then when I stopped working there, the owner tried to keep my last paycheck. He wouldn't answer his calls for 3 weeks, then when I finally went there to get it, he told me I was harassing him and that I was trespassing. He threatened to call the cops. Don't work here, it's more trouble than its worth. The owner doesn't really do anything. He thinks bragging about what he makes off of you is what will motivate you. They promise big money and promotion but you never see these promises delivered. Even though there are people there who have the sales to get these so called promotions. Then there are two guys that work there who are supposedly owners, but they're never at the locations they run. They're working in Grand Rapids for TEM. It's all an illusion to keep you at the worst possible job you'll ever have. Stay away.
Thanks for the comments. They kept me from wasting my time on the interview and even more time if I would have fallen for there pitch!
I agree TEM concepts is a total scam, the Detroit office is a total joke and when I worked they they constantly fired certain races of people and kept others around. I guess its a good job if you are a white frat boy that likes to smoke pot and thinks working 10-8 every day for minimum wage is a good deal.
I worked for TEM for a while. The people were fair and I made 700+ per week in commissions. Two of the people I worked with got promoted and are now managing other offices. I know one of them personally and I know for a fact she is making a ton of dough. I always find that the players who make the team NEVER blame themselves. They always blame the coach or the game or whatever. The only reason I left was to pursue my education. I learned alot while I was there. Great experience.
The just changed their name to IAB so be careful with them too. I just had an interview with them in Lansing and the owner was cursing, being smug, and made me feel so small. Wouldn't tell me how much I would make or anything about pay for that matter.
Pyramid scheme. Be careful.
I have worked for this company a long time now. Never had any issue with pay or opportunity. This company has molded me into the person I am. I made good money waiting tables, but better money selling DirecTV. And now I have a future. All things considered, I am grateful to have found TEM Concepts.
A pot-smoking frat boy would not pass TEM's mandatory drug tests. Someone being fired for their ethnicity is illegal. TEM would not be in business for as long as they have if any of this was true. I don't know who started this bogus post, but it wasn't Jon Cook. That speaks to the level of character of someone bashing the company I work for and hiding behind my name. I am Jon Cook and working here is one of the smartest things I ever signed up for (besides DirecTV, of course). A person of integrity does what is right and lets the chips fall where they may. This posting is not right and certainly not integrous. Make your own informed decision rather than hearing the rants of terminated personnel.
I worked for this company for 3 days in total. Then i quit. But it was due to outside reasons. If you can not learn the product, then you can not sell it. Thats not the fault of the owners but of your comitment to failure. Most of the guys who work for TEM are honest when it comes to selling Directv and in fact i had a sale before i left. I will say now that im soooo sorry. I actually misquoted the sale and he ended up paying 5 bucks LESS than what i had thought. Most of the guys they hire have had some experiance in sales and therefore they expect you to "get it" because you've done it before.
This job consists of soliciting customers at retail locations. If your not comfortable with harrassing people, most of whom have been harrassed previously by your company and want nothing to do with your product, then this job is for you. You work 50 hours a week including every weekend, for less than 400 a week. You will recieve NO commissions unless you sell more than 4 packages per week, at which time you will NOT be paid for you labor, its one or the other :) As mentioned previously, your expected to drive to the office every morning to be lectured on selling more, before shipping off to your random location, and there is no compensation for miles driven. Also as mentioned previously, do not expect to receive your last paycheck, they will scam at any opportunity. I was disgusted by the unprofessional, and frankly, unsavory way they managed people's money. During my 2 week stint there, I witnessed about a dozen people come in, and quit within 48 hours... The employees were nice enough, but the 2 managers (who do nothing) are jokers who capitalize on your sales. Above mentioned "Pyramid scheme" description was not far off, this job is not for the weak of heart!
Anyone who is reading these comments, I really hope you get to mine before making a decision on whether or not this job is for you. I actually read all these same comments after my second interview with TEM and almost walked away. I have now been working for Tom at TEM for about 3 months, and to be honest, it really wasn't ywhat I expected, or am very good at. But what I did find out is that they are thexact opposite of what these people make them out to be. For one, yeah, this job isn't for everyone. You need to be self motivated, dependable, and a hard worker. If you seen't all of these, get an $8.00 per hour job where it will take you a year to get to $8.50. Now I have seen a lot of people come and go over the past few months while I've been here, but as I worked owith a lot of them in the field, I can assure you those are the same lazy people that weren't the hard working type I listed above. I have seen 2 great hard working guys oopromoted since I have been there that are doing great, and another but that was promoted just before I got there that wasn't doing as great as expected so they brought back in for a couple weeks to help with a few things. Now like I said, I'm not very good at this job. The smallest check I've gotten was $330 for one week, after taxes. That was selling one app for the entire week. Yeah, if your not trying, and not getting results, uthey aren't going to keep you around...makes perfect business sense. Now I show up on time, ask questions to better myself, go to my store after our meeting atnd try my hardest to do what is expected of me...which isn't a lot...and haven't been very impressive. Now here's the key point...I do what I'm asked, and I still have a job, and I get paid every week. These people that complain of not getting paid are the ones that show up for the morning meeting and dfon't go to their stores for the actuall work afterwards. I've seen them do it. Don't let some lazy $8.00 per hour slacker keeping you from making an investment into yourself. Like I said...this job isn't for everyone, but if you want to control how much you get paid a week, and work for a guy that honestly cares about seeing the right, hard working people succeed, then atleast check out what TEM is about. I don't think I've got the "sales bone" in my body, but I never have looked at this as a bad path. Tom has taught me a lot about business in general in my short time with the company. If my time runs out since I'm not putting up. Great numbers, then that's what it is, but its not because he didn't try to make better when he shouldn't have, or paid me when he should have, its because it wasn't for me.
Oh, by the way...I know a couple of the guys that have written negative comments...and it is what I said...these are guys that tried to scam the system and got caught...that's why you didn't get a full paycheck...Kenny...not to mention names here, but let's keep it real guys...
I have worked for TEM for almost 7 years and I love it! I have held many different positions with the company in many different divisions and have worked my way up to office manager. The atmosphere and the people I work with are great! I can honestly say that I love getting out of bed every day to go to work!
I have worked for TEM for a little over a year now. I have seen nothing but good things from this company. The managers have gone way above and beyond all my expectations to make sure that I was treated fairly. I have no complaints about this company. I have had experience in the past dealing with other marketing firms and have been screwed over, but the staff and management at TEM have been absolutely wonderful. I have far exceeded my own goals and am excited to be moving forward with the company.
I am not currently working for TEM but I have to disagree completely with the initial posting. The reason I am no longer with the company is because I found a position that was in my preferred career field. (I enjoy business/marketing but working in law is my passion) The team at TEM was very friendly and always helpful! The owner was great! Very honest and open with me whenever I needed anything. I loved coming into the office everyday, it was such a fun atmosphere! I still keep in contact with some of the people I met while with TEM.
This is a wonderful company to work for! It's unfortunate that some people have had a negative experience previously, but I have worked there for several months and I love my job! Tom has been extremely professional with me every time we have interacted. He is certainly not gone all of the time playing golf and he is definitely not out there ripping people off. I make $200 in bonuses weekly and that is on top of my weekly check and commissions. He is a great boss and he is helping me build myself up into management as well. Also, he has no affiliation with any company in Lansing, so I'm not sure what the "pot smoking, frat boy" thing is about. Anyway, if you are considering employment with TEM, please understand that this is a management training position and there are sales involved. If it's not for you, don't apply!
What exactly is the commission or pay package amount? I might want to apply for a job but want to know how many hours approximately and if a package is sold 6 per week what would the pay be?
