Thousand Trails rules do not apply to all

I am not sure if each campgrounds has their own set of rules or if these rules are corporate wide. My family have been members of Thousand Trails for 3 generations. In the last 5 or 6 years, we have encountered some abnormal rules. This years, we checked in. Set up camp as normal. We had decorative lights hanging on the awning of our RV and screen tent we set up. Never ever had we encountered a problem. A ranger came around, she told us we could not put lights up. "It's a new rule." However, once night fell there were sites that had lights on their awnings, hanging lanterns from there shade tents. A specific site, was the first one as you pull into the park! My grandparents did not want a problem so we literally sat in the dark outside for 2 nights until we said enough. We were given a write up (what happens to these anyways?!)
Now keep in mind, we are generations of thousand trail members. So when we have a family campout we set up at several trailer and camp sites. We were told we have too many chairs - we have too any things laying around (bikes and balls). Driving and walking through the park, I have seen worse!

We have been camping here for years. Never, ever in my life have I had a jaw dropping experience like this. Makes me wonder, what is going on at this park!
June 30 2018 about 12 pm, my family headed to the pool. About 1:30pm a lady entered the swimming pool, shortly after she lit a cigarette while standing in the pool! At 2:30 a large group of people anout 6 - 8 people entered the pool area. They were pouring alcohol in cups and proceeded to enter the pool with their cups. Congregating at the stairs of the pool. A seperate party, of 3, were drinking beer out of glass beer bottles at the deep end of the pool. And the smoking lady resurfaced, enjoying another smoke on a floating device.
The pool was crowded. The rules are posted on the pool gate and entry way. When I saw a ranger enter the pool area, I thought for sure rules would be enforced. The ranger came in grabbed a water sample, next to the party drinking from glass bottles, and left!

I have encounter some of the worse park ranger experience here. My family is camping but I live 15 miles away. I took my nieces and daughter to spend the night at my place. At 8:20 am I drove up to the park to drop them off. The Park Manager ask if they were staying at the park. I said, yes my nieces are and my daughter is spending the day with them, she might spend the night. She said, just so you know your daughter cannot enter the park until 10. I explained that I was heading to work. I asked, if I could drop them off and make a u turn to exit the park. She said, yes. So I let my daughter and my niece get out of the car to walk into the park.
As I was leaving, the park manager approached my car. She said: I told you your daughter could not enter the park until 10. I had to come tell you because you cannot follow the rules. I apologized for the misunderstanding and miscommunication. She yelled, there was no miscommunication! I told you she cannot enter the park until 10. Once again, I apologized. She said, it was no acceptable because she knows I am lying about misunderstanding. She knows because my nieces got out first, then my daughter. I was being sneaky. I just apologized again because I truly thought that she was saying fyi and for next time, she can't enter the park until 10. Because I asked her a second time if I could drop them off. She said, yes.
Now, next time I am in this situation I know my 12 year old daughter has to stand at the gate alone until 10 am. What in the world!

Thousand Trails manager linda (extremely rude)

She would not give her name when I asked, but when she first got on the phone I believe she said her name was Linda the manager. She was totally rude came to my site around 9:00am with a police officer saying there was a man outside who was drunk. I am taking offense to this reference as my son was not drunk but had just recently gotten out of the hospital with a stroke. She did not apologize or show any concern but the officer did. Her complaint may have had some merit as a stroke victim my APPEAR to be drunk or on drugs but didn't not need to be argumentative after she brought the police out. I also called the office back after they left as there was a message on my phone. again no apologies just more unkindness. I would greatly appreciate some taking attention to her attitude. Also I am thinking this is defamation of character to a poor young man who just went through major brain trauma. Not very humane. Thank you for your attention in this manner and wait to hear from you.

Thousand Trails appalachian rv campground

My family and I are elite members and we have been to many beautiful parks but this one isn't worth it. This is an overall quiet place that really tends to permanent residents, we have seen very few non seasonal rvs here. The office staff was not the most friendly. The things that surprised us most was all of the "hidden fees". They have a $5 visitor fee, a $5-15 fee for fishing, mini golf fee and if you're on a site that doesn't have a full hook up *like we requested but weren't put into* they charge $25 fee to come empty your tank. We have never ran into anything like this with other thousand trail or encore parks and are very disappointed.

Thousand Trails sales

Ok, I am so sick of these calls " the webinar is to inform you of the changes in our policies and rules" bull crap! Not once in the phone call were we informed of and "changes" all it was, was a sales pitch! THEN, we were promised either free trails collection (which we have no use for) OR a FREE (THAT'S WHAT WE WERE TOLD OVER THE PHONE) 3 day, 2 night stay and any resort. Our question was, can we use it for a cabin? Answer- sure you can! Then after 2 days worth of phones calls and hours on the phone (didn't read the fine print when I got the certificate) dumbie me. It only good for $100. ( what happened to the free stay)? Thanks, thanks again for the lies thousand trails!

Thousand Trails sites

Lake tawakoni location (point, tx) needs to repair about half of the electric boxes in their sites. We have been promised for a year now that it will be fixed. Still waiting.
We bring it up to the rangers and they blame it on corporate of course pass the buck all the time.
You can't even use the picnic tables due to the fact they are falling apart. But all new adult pool furniture was purchased and the adult center was remodeled.
Someone is not thinking correctly. Please fix this problem. Enough is enough. We pay too much money for this to still be a problem for 2 years now.

Thousand Trails harbor view campground colonial beach va 22443 linda brubaker

Good morning my name is Robert McCarthy and I am a member and I also own 2 lots on Mattox ave lots 4 and 5 in Colonial Beach. Phone [protected]. My lots Back up to your property and have been flooded by your Managers lack of maintenance and willing to clean the debris out of the drainage ditches on Harbor Views camp site. We talked to Linda and she said she would take care of this problem. The water was rising by the inch and at this point the water was under my cottage and my next door neighbor crawl space. We needed to do something and it seem that Linda was not doing anything on Saturday 6-19-18. There is a culvert running along lot 5 and Naturally drains to your property's ditch and then is to flow down into a pond, then into the river. The ditch have not been maintained who knows whats stopping it up with years of leaves being blown into the ditchs. I check my side on lot 5 to find a concrete pipe that was clogged and a tree had fallen across to cause some blockage. I had the next door neighbor come over with his mini excavator to clear the path and to remove the pipe so we could get drainage. While we were doing so Linda came over with rage and started screaming that we could not do that and at that point and threaten to dam it up. Linda had the Maintenance dam it up. I would like this remove and any damage to my property from Linda's lack of maintenance and taken care of A.S. A.P. The reason your camp site was flooded and was shut down is lack of maintenance and this is not the first time the water has been ponding on my property or yours. I can not believe that someone would do this intentionally and there laws against damming natural flow from one property to another. Linda should be part of the solution and not the problem. When talking to the neighbors and the Placid Bay Association Linda has refused to do anything to be part of the community and has showed up to meeting and turn around and walk out. I will attach pictures and be placing a civil suit against Harbor View.

Thousand Trails lack of maintenance

The manager has caused a blockage of the deeded drains causing several homes and properties to be flooded and extensive damage to homes and properties. We have contacted her before the damage occured but she refused to take care of the blocked pipes. We took it upon ourselves to clear the path and she yelled at us and claimed she was going to block it back up. We called the sherrif and he said she cannot block it. Linda had someone with a machine block the drainway. We are due now rain this evening and are concerned about further damages. The sherrif recommend we take this matter to court. Monday morning we will be pressing charges on Linda and thousand trails.

Thousand Trails camping at wilderness lakes menifee, ca

My wife and I stayed at the Wilderness Lakes RV Campground from April 5, 2018 through April 8, 2018. Our stay was very disappointing. We have been members for over a year and have always enjoyed staying there since it was so close to home and it had great amenities. I am not sure what has happened to the management / maintenance of the park, but many things that the park is known for are destroyed. The week that we stayed there was spring break for kids and my wife. The amenities the park is known for all had problems. (1) The ranger said that somebody poured soap in the two channels on the south end of the property and that they where down. The Ranger didn't advise that the other two channels where also down. There was a foot of water in channel 3 and the 4th channel pump did not work. So fishing was free, but the park hadn't stocked fish since December. (2) My wife and I decided to not get discouraged and decided to go use the adult pool. The Adult Pool was overwhelmed with children. The staff explained that the children's pool was down as well. That all quest would be using the adult pool. (3) As agreed we would not be discouraged, we went to go play Miniature Golf. The weeds where coming up through the concrete sub floor and cups where the ball is to land. The carpet on the course was coming unglued and needed attention. (4) So still trying to not get discouraged, we decided to go inside the game room and play some air hockey. When we went to ask for the puck and paddles, we where informed that they didn't have any. The person behind the desk informed us that they had to order them. (5) My wife and I decided to go back to our Trailer and Cook Dinner. On the way out we noticed a sign on the soda vending machine that it was out of order. (6) When I took out the trash on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday the trash dumpsters where over flowing and needing to be dumped. I joined Thousand Trails mainly for this campground. The prior year we stayed in the campground and found it very enjoyable. Many of our friends also stayed there. The last time we stayed was on Halloween Weekend and the park was awesome. As I stated when I first starting writing, I am not sure what has happened to the management / maintenance of the park. BUT THEY ARE NOT KEEPING IT UP TO A RESPECTABLE STANDARD THAT PEOPLE PAY MONEY FOR. I hope the Management of Thousand Trails looks into the park and corrects it soon or my Family, Friends and I will not be back.

I have never been to Menifee but Soledad Canyon is just the same. The road between campgrounds washed out last June and it's still not repaired. It's a major fire hazard being that the Q, N and M sections have no alternate route out in case of another flood or perhaps another fire broke out. The bathrooms are poorly maintained limiting the availability of toiletries and is totally unsanitary. It's ran down and things are over frown and unmaintained for the type of facility it is. Management comes around your site and take a pictures of your personal space and they never notify you if there are any issues with your reservation. This management is rude and disrespectful and d not know how to treat their main source of income to their park. They have disrespected members discriminated against them and harassed them when it's usually the nonmembers that seem to break all the rules. I am sure if you ever visited the Soledad Canyon park, be prepared for disappointments because they do not know what they are doing. I'm very disappointed with the quality of campground they are running.

Thousand Trails membership fees and cancellation

How does one cancel a Thousand Trails membership when,

1) You do not own a Motorhome (husband passed away in 2010) and
Motorhome never used previously was in storage and was sold in 2011 to another person who was not interested in membership.

2) They continue to send me billing statements when I have advised them both on the telephone and by mail that I have no need for membership.

3) I am 71 years old Senior and DISABLED, unable to physically drive such a
vehicle or to utilize their campgrounds.

4) I am being Discriminated against by insisting that I pay back membership fees and today April 6, 2017 they advised that they had pulled by credit report to report an unpaid balance or further action.

5) Who do you contact to fight this, FTC, as it is out of state, I live in California and DO NOT travel, only occasionally by airplane to Texas.

Thousand Trails careless management and very poor conditions

Management is careless and rude when it comes to its own members. They constantly change rules without giving any notice before hand and show no concern on how changes affect the members. Restroom smell very bad in one there is mold growing on the wall in back of the toilet. Along with the shower curtains always torn. You constantly see dead fish floating on top of the water for days. The Lakes fair look like cesspools and still members are not told anything they're allowed to fish there conditions are disgusting at this park. The management there does not care about its own members all their actions are in total disregard to member concerns, wants, needs excetera. They make changes that we're not in the agreement that members for signed when entering the park and these changes affect members lives and how they live them and still they show no concern or care. So I'm posting this in hopes that this reaches somebody who can help people are getting really tired of these big businesses doing whatever they want with no concern of the very members that keep them in business.

Thousand Trails parks-employees-conditions

I am a Full-Time Member, Travel Many Parks.
I have noticed that although friendly...
Employees are sub-par in work ethic and performance. Need a training program.
All Parks need ground maintenance.
All restrooms need to be updated.
Pressure washed, tile stripped, cleaned & resealed. Exhaust fans replaced (sub-par household fans).
Shower heads are outdated and poor quality.
Clogged and barely functional.
Biggest Complaint is restroom cleaning, not sanitary, using household cleaning supplies, such as: Swifer Sweepers & Clorox whips.
Employee dress code... a must!
Site restrictions... too many live-ins...
Sites are packed with stuff, Blue tarps, garbage.
Mentality of live-ins... believe that they own the park and ignore the rules.
Management shows favoritism...
Employees living in the park and turning their sites into their own yards, full of clutter.
Laundry site: poor leasing company's, for machinery, not maintained or cleaned properly.
Over all, we love traveling and having the parks available... but discouraged as to how they are operated.

I believe each and every Park needs to be inspected and all issues listed and plans put into place to remedy these problems.

Thank You
Kathren munro

Thousand Trails employees/ management

I have been a member since June 2017. I have only stayed at two parks that are within my area of work. Laconner, Wa thousand trail is awful. They are so unorganized and do not care about any of the members. I moved into Laconner around Christmas for my 21 day stay and they failed to mention when checking in that most of the bathrooms go into "hibernation". Their excuse was there was not enough traffic around them to have a ranger clean them. When we realized they were closed I counted 12 campers around this one bathroom that was closed. which was just the row the bathroom was on, not including anyone around in walking distance. Also I went outside one night to get something out of my car and noticed a group of people that obviously did not belong in the park. We finally get in touch with the park ranger on call as it is 11:50PM at night and she comes over and calls the cops due to them not suppose to be in the park. The next day the ranger in the office calls me to let me know that anytime we see something that is not suppose to be just to call the cops ourselves because more than likely the ranger on call is sleeping. DO WHAT?! I do not pay to stay there and employee people that do not want to work. If you do not want to be a night ranger then do not. AWFUL! Then I called memeber services to let them know I was running a little behind on my loan they ok the late payment and let me know I am all good to go. Until I get home and have a note on my door from the rangers, letting me know I needed to call member services or I may get kicked out of the park. Really lack of communication in thousand trails is AWFUL! I regret ever getting into thousand trails. I never refer people to this awful thing. AWFUL!

At least they communicated with you by leaving you a note, Soledad Canyon Park, on a.Acton California fail to even do that, if your lucky they just hand you a suspension on the day of your next reservation check in and turn you away from their park. You get no warnings, no notices, no communication to resolve the issue, they just wait til it's too late according to their way to run a campground, and the only communication is suspending you for somethimg they simply failed to correct in their system. Something as simple as admitting their fault and neglect at doing their job to satisfy the customer, they rather harass their source of main income to the parks, which comes from those who have Elite and other memberships, which we as members have the right to use accordingly to a campground. Example why purchase a 3 week membership if I don't own an RV, Did you know a TENT is only allowed to be used for 7 days out of your entire reservation, according to Soledad Canyon, where I've been told other parks don't in force that rule, and from my experience neither did the previous managers who ran the park prior to August 2017. Oh and the TENT rule also stands for screen TENT, which isn't specified in the contract. But a screen TENT is an outdoor space which protects you from the weather and insects. They suspend people for that as well, without communicating to anyone that they were now enforcing so called rules created by them or not on the contract, and suspend you without warning. If you know a good lawyer, contact me.

Thousand Trails elite membership rip-off/terrible customer service!

In 2016 I purchased an elite membership. Since that time I have had so many surprises. Not good ones, very disappointing ones. I specifically purchased the membership because I was told after carefully asking if the 21 days would ever be shortened for any specific reason. The reply was no. I was going to pay $8000 due to finance charges. They told me that the elite members would always get 21 days in and seven days out. That was not true.

Throughout 2016 there was no problems with this. However, this year they decided that I could only have 14 days in in seven days' out because of high peak season. This " high peak season" never took place last year. It is difficult for me to understand how you can have high peak season one year and not the next.

I frequent the Las Vegas Nevada location. Since my membership the repair of the clubhouse from a tree falling on it took over a year. During that time we did not have the manager for all.

We couldn't use the swimming pool, the clubhouse, the hot tub or the store. Also during that time I had very many cold showers. No one seemed to care that there wasn't any hot water, not even the district manager.

We lost our wi-fi also during that time. For well over a year. When questioned about it no one seemed to give a definitive answer, only that it was being looked at. I also signed the contract knowing at the time that there would be free wi-fi. We still do not have free wi-fi. They state that we do. But we don't. Only in the clubhouse! Why don't they advertise that?

I wanna get out of my contract. Because I feel that I am being victimized. I've stayed in many RV lots. None of them have been as trashy as this one. There is no value for money. There's only money for non value. My advice, don't even consider paying for the elite membership. They will throw things at you that you never even realized.

Save your money, go to a place that has real value. And don't become a victim like I have. I am limited from 21 days to 14 days. I can't even make a reservation. This gives a whole new meaning to the word elite.

Thousand Trails water leak at annual site

My husband and I are annual members at your location in Point, Texas on Lake Tawakoni, having been annual members 5 years. In April 2017, Easter weekend, a water leak was getting very bad just across narrow road from our site. A large man came out with backhoe to dig up the water lines around the leak. They worked all afternoon and evening and closed the area they were working but the leak has continued to have stagnant water, large weeds, pipes pulled out of ground and laying over to the side, pylons and markers as per my picture attachments. This site is highly dangerous due to pylons and markers sticking out in road and encouraging snakes in the bad water, with mosquitos hatching, repugnant to the eye and downright nasty. We have met with the General Manager on 2 separate occasions requesting that the water leak be completed and cleaned up. Here we are now end of August and still nothing has been taken care of despite our continued use of our site and no one seems to care about this property.

Thousand Trails membership

Hello,
We are contacting you in regard to buying a membership with you.
We have included pictures of our Motorhome and it's State Title if you need. It is a fully self contained Motor home bus conversion. It says on your site that you accept motorhomes. Seeing as we are titled as a motorhome with the state we see no problem. We are just checking with you.

Thousand Trails campground

Unless you enjoy spending your free time in a crime-ridden ghetto, cross this Thousand Trails preserve off your list of places to stay.
There is no security in this large campground, and it attracts and fosters a certain criminal element. This "element" lives in the park full-time, moving from trailer to trailer to avoid the Thousand Trails "time out" rules.
Management expects it's paying guests to police their campground for them so that they don't have to deal with the multitude of negative issues that this campground has on a daily basis. This ineffectual management style (lack of) is extremely unprofessional, not to mention extremely dangerous. Can you imagine if a legitimate resort or hotel adopted such negligent policies?
The once beautiful grounds of this park have fallen into extreme disrepair - and that was before the additional damage from the recent flash flood rendered the family pool and certain sections of the preserve useless.
Don't even try to bring up any concerns you might have with management because they don't want to hear about them. The assistant manager in particular is very abrasive. She most definitely should never have been put into a position where communicating with people is a requirement.
There are nicer, safer, and more amenable campgrounds in the Acton/Greater Los Angeles area, so there is no reason to waste your precious time and money on this unsafe mess while jeopardizing your personal safety and the safety of your personal property.

Thousand Trails stolen items

We were very excited to go to this place, rented the most expensive unit! The ac went out and they thought we left ac off so they waited 4 hours to come check, mind you I had two small children. They shuffled us to a unit with soft floors and no hot water, in the chaos I left my very expensive 2k opal pearl ring in the bathroom. Finally got a hold of the asst. GM Ben( no one answers phones at the property) they said they had my ring and that they were mailing it to me. I offered to pay for shipping because of its expense I wanted insurance. Now when I contact them after NO followup, they say they don't have my 2k ring. Housekeepers don't speak English probably illegal aliens who stole my jewelry! Thieving liars!
