thredup is stealing clothing & money from consumers
Thredup is an online resale shop. The premiss is you order a bag from their website and fill it with quality clothing then send it back and thredup will pay you for the clothing. However, what they won't tell you is that you will receive only pennies for brand new clothing you send in. I sent in 3 bags, about 150 items, of mostly brand new with tag...

I would only go to this site to use your free $10 credit and then run! But whatever you do, do not get scammed into sending them your nice name brand clothes in that handy huge bag they send you for free. That's how they get ya! They sent me a bag and told me to stuff it full and send it back for free and they would pay me top dollar for my clothes. BS!...

So I guess this site use to be some sort of bartering service. Now it functions more like a childrens re-sale clothing store online. So basically you send in your high quality kids clothes, get credit and choose items you would like to get in return, or there is the option to sort pictures of the items and pay via credit/debit or paypal.
I sent in about 30 items and kept a detailed list of the items that I sent in. About half of the items were accepted and oddly enough the items that were not accepted were mostly new with tags.. I get a very fishy feeling about that as I know the items were new with tags well known names and I am in a pet free/smoke free home. I tried to look past that and forward to getting the items that I had chose :)
Well, I guess I should have gotten a hint from the issues I had when I sent a bag in...
The items that I got in return had poo stains, tears, and one of the items had a strong and very nasty smell to it.
So let my venture help you out in your decision to go with this service. I would suggest Ebay, or some other clothing buy out like taking your old kids clothes to Once Upon a Child or something.

I never received my order even though it shows to be shipped. I have tried for 2 weeks to contact someone and left numerous emails, and have still not had any response what so ever! I feel this company is a scam and that I got taken!
When checking out of my shopping cart while logged in. I have my credit card on file. I never get the offered discount code.
Hello, we're sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with thredUP. We are extremely picky about what we accept as we need to maintain high quality standards for reselling items to other families. We often come across new with tag items that still have imperfections, so new with tag items are not automatically accepted. Because we are so selective and cannot take everything that other resale/donation channels can, we realize that our service is not for everyone. We try to emphasize that our true value is being the easiest way to hand down your kids' clothing while making sure it doesn't go to landfill.
As for the items that you purchased from our store, please send us a note at support@thredup.com as we do stand behind our quality and are disappointed that items with the characteristics you describe got past our quality inspection. As a policy, we check clothing very carefully at several stages in our process. In fact, if we catch items as late as packing – even the slightest stain – we'll give a full refund for the item and often still include the item if the imperfection is small enough and we think the item could still be of use to our customer. We agree that you should not have received flawed items and would like the opportunity to correct this.
We hope to hear from you!
