My Claim with Trip Mate #7226465
Viking vetted Trip Mate as a recommended insurance provider.
I purchased the insurance that included "trip interruption"
Because of a delay by Lufthansa, I missed connections on my return, forcing me to purchase an expensive same-day ticket so that I could return as planned.
Trip Mate's response: since the reason for the trip interruption with Lufthansa was because of a crew staffing issue, that contingency is NOT covered.
How is that possible?
What good is purchasing insurance vetted by Viking when something over which I had no control is arbitrarily not covered.
I realize I am delayed in lodging this complaint, but today I received another brochure from Viking re: another voyage, so I want you to know how horribly shocked and disappointed I was and am that Viking would have led me to a provider which such a non-commonsensical (and almost fraudulent) notion of what constitutes "trip interruption). Today I finally decided to send you the information.
I submitted all proper information to Trip Mate -- including my asking Lufthansa to verify the reason for the delay -- and the Viking vetted insurance company summarily dismissed it.
Claimed loss: If you cannot access the information I provided Trip Mate in my claim, I will gladly send you verification of all the details, costs of the replacement ticket, and a narrative of the story.
Desired outcome: I want to recoup my out-of-pocket expense for a ticket for a same-day return flight to the U.S. That information is included in my submission to Trip Mate.
