Turo - Host chinara seyidova rents cars with visibility issues
I rented a 2020 Hyundai Elantra. When I started driving, I realized that there was some sort of tint on the rear window which made it very difficult to see cars directly behind in the rearview mirror. Wearing sunglasses made it worse. I immediately reported this to the host who was unhelpful. She said that's the way the car is. No offer to help in any way...

This guy may seem nice, but if you're going to rent a car from him, take pictures of the car, all over, including the ashtrays, when you pick the car up. I got hit with a cleanup fee, which I expected, but I also got hit with a fee for violating Turo's no-smoking policy because there were cigarette butts in the ashtrays which weren't mine. I don't even smoke, and this guy knew it damn well. I don't allow smoking in my house or in my car, including ones I'm just renting. And if you're going to appeal to Turo, photos or it didn't happen. I don't know what I did to get this guy wanting to screw me over, but I'm not responsible for his crappy ethics.
Recommendation: If it happened to me, it can happen to anyone. Watch your back with this guy.

Found it's not as cheap as the big boys
Ok. Buissness in LA was going to hire a turo car, it was a normal car 4 door 5 days cost was. 480 USA, now I had to go to the car or I could get the owner to pick me up extra 60 USA so it's now 540. Then you need to take the extra insurance cover to reduce you excess from 8000 usa 500 USA 26.50 a day, so now we are at 650 approx USA. No that's just over $1000 Australia. So I go to budget. LAX Airport 4 door standard car brand new 2021 488 Australia that's right not USA. Ultimate cover insurance 34$ a day Australia so no excess nothing to pay if you have a accident, which I hope Never happens, so we're about 750 Australian. I land go to budget they take the info bus me to my car I get in drive out get scanned, then bring it back to the car lot scanned. On budget Bus back to the terminal. Home.
Now the turo way I have to bring the car back to the person's home get a taxi back to the airport 60 bucks.
So I am better off using a reptible company. No saying that. You can hire cheap ones in London 20 pound I hire one it's was a wreck. My life is worth more. Best luck happy holidays. Ps might be a few spelling mistakes but I am a tradie no a jurno
Good experience
Was able to rent a nicer car on my last vacation and at a significant discount to what I would have paid Avis. Would rent again!
Best price
In the last month I went here for my reserved car and it was already waiting for me! Nothing bad happened I'm pleased
High fees, but valuable services
High fees, but valuable services. Have used it to rent cars last minute in small cities and even in London. Cars were in good condition and there is obviously more choice in bigger cities.
Turo should do something about the hosts who cancel the tour few days before the trip
Turo should do something about the hosts who cancel the tour few days before the trip. The whole purpose to book early is to save some money but instead of saving, you end up paying more because at the last time you're out of options and go with what available. Some hosts have genuine reason but most of them cancel it because you booked it at a very reasonable price but host want more at the last minute.
Started out as a way to make extra money as a host. After being a consistent 5 star host with almost 30 trips on their platform. I noticed through many different circumstances and situations, they do not treat host fairly. I had a family emergency and this company and the representative stated she would remove the negative review on my profile and the charge. When I called a few days later to see why it was still showing, a different rep said oh yes I see here where this was said. Put me on hold came back and said she couldnt remove it and she now DIDNT see any notes I specifically asked the 1st rep if she could remove and she said YES. This entire conversation is on a recorded line. But when this 2nd rep got on the line she said she listened to the call and didnt hear anything about that which is a complete LIE! I was sure that we were clear that she COULD remove it and she said YES. The trip I received I wouldnt have gotten a dime for after they take their fee for the cancellation due to a family emergency. I would have had to wash the car, fill up the tank, drive to the location and Uber back. The trip would have not mad any sense! I would have been in the NEGATIVE in my earnings for this trip! They lied and not only that, but did NOT honor what they promised! As a host, I know I work hard and Im sure other host do as well. With the plans they have, they take a LARGE amount in fees to me, taking so much from hard working host. I would not recommend this company. Their reputation, fees and overall business practices are poor and they need to revaluate them or be put OUT OF BUSINESS. They charge host a fee AND the guest as well. So if a guest book my vehicle for 80$ a day, they will charge ANOTHER $80 for a turo fee. Again taking a cut from the host too. Turo is money hungry and I will NOT be doing business with them future! My car has been mechanically messed up during renting, its just not worth it.
HORRIBLE! We arrived to pick up the car only to discover they were offering us a vehicle that was damaged all over and filthy. The vehicle advertised was right there, yet it was 'reserved for another customer.' The car was unclean, with children's handprints all over the windows. I spoke with a representative early in the morning at 5:00 am while standing in their dimly lit, dirty lot located in a questionable neighborhood. The representative mentioned we could cancel. We chose not to take the car and instead spent over $75 on Uber that night to reach our rental destination. Now, we are being told we cannot get a refund for a car we never used, even though their policy indicates the fee for cancellation is $50.
TURO IS A SCAM! Ensure you read all of the *** articles on how host post fake pictures of smoking products in their vehicles & then you mysteriously get charged a smoking fee. Turo has closed my account permanently and advised me that I could pay them $200 to investigate my dispute, otherwise whatever the host said is the story they are going with! Id rather ride a scooter around out of town than to rent from these scammers.

My partner and I have had some good experiences with renting cars but in regards to the customer service they are horrible and will waste your time. They do anything to make you feel dumb and will refuse to approve your account as a guest for no reason while gladly allowing you to host so they can make money off of your back. Stay away. Half the time rental car companies have similar or better prices anyway.
An owners car was smoked in and I don't have much of a sense of smell, I didn't know till day two when my aunt rode in car and she said it smelled so bad we had to ride with windows down. Then the owner accused me when I returned his car. I don't smoke. Neither do my customers. I got charged for something I didn't do and stopped from renting from turo. Not only that but the last couple cars were not really road worthy. One of them I had to spend $115 on a tire and coolant. No reimbursements.
I was a big fan of Turo until a recent trip when the car I was renting was repossessed. It was towed away in the middle of the night along with many of our things. Turo promised to reimburse part of the trip and also cover the cost of a rental for the remaining time. It took several hours dealing with the repo agency and ultimately I did get our things back on the last day of our trip. Unfortunately, though, Turo only partially reimbursed the rental car, so that I ended up paying the same amount for a car during the trip for a very sub-par experience, and there was no real acknowledgment of what happened. I was willing to overlook having the car repossessed - the poor customer service is what ruined it for me. Very disappointed.
TURO RANDOMLY ADDS CHARGES!
First off, my host was great and so was the car, but Turo itself and their customer service are terrible. I reserved this car on approximately 1/8/23 for a total of $1982.47. I proceeded to add another day and was charged an additional $56.65 for a grand total of $2,039.12.
On 2/28 I modified my pickup location, for which both the host and what I saw online would be an additional $120. My credit card was charged $301.39. When I called customer service, a very confused young man explained in broken English that the remaining $181.39 were taxes on the $120 change, which is obviously ridiculous, so I cancelled the change and was initially refunded the $301.39. Shortly thereafter I was charged an additional $156.94. When I called customer service yet again, and after spending quite a bit of time on hold, I was told these were new taxes on my trip because of the change that was made and then cancelled. So in effect, no service or product was provided, and I was arbitrarily charged $156.94, which wasn't even the original amount of the taxes I was charged the previous day. I asked for a supervisor and waited on hold for 41 minutes to be told by a representative that one was not available, and that they were all in a meeting and that they would call me back, which three weeks later they have yet to do. I then filed a 'Notice of Dispute' on Turo's site and received the following: 'Thank you for your message... Unfortunately due to the volume of requests, if your message is not regarding arbitration or a specific legal matter we will not be able to respond from this account. You'll receive the fastest response by submitting your request here instead.' This took me to their help center...and calling customer service again, putting me in an endless loop. I then cancelled everything altogether and rebooked for the original price, without the extra 'Tax.' Incomprehensible incompetence Turo!
They charged me 2x in fees after I finished my ride in additional and hidden fees.
Had one good experience (which is why I gave them 2 stars instead of 1) so thought I would try it again
Had one good experience (which is why I gave them 2 stars instead of 1) so thought I would try it again. Got on their website and indicated the airport pickup location. Each car then has an "est. total". But when you go to check out the car, the total is WAY HIGHER. Even though you already said you are going to pick it up at the airport, they add on airport fees, delivery fees, etc. Any other reputable car rental company will have that included in the est. total. Beware and be smart!
I did not rent with Turo
I did not rent with Turo. I started the process but bailed when I saw the *** cost. I was looking at a 2016 *** in ***. The website said $320 total, but that wasn't the case. Turo added a "rental" fee of over $46 and a tax of $20. My credit card wouldn't cover renting from a person, so I had to add insurance. Total cost was $499+. Not the $320 the website stated. I was so annoyed I stopped the process. For $85 more, I rented a 2022 midsize car from Alamo. I believe Turo should have full disclosure of cost of vehicle, including tax, rental fee and everything else up front, before you move forward. Although the idea is a good one, I won't consider using Turo in the future. And I will tell my friends about my experience.
I received a bill for tolls on a rental more than 1 year after the rental
I received a bill for tolls on a rental more than 1 year after the rental. Very small bill but shady to send any bill that long after a rental. No other reputable rental agency would do that. I had to update my card on their site to pay the Bill. The bill was paid promptly after they contacted me a few months ago. But apparently their system keeps sending. Automated emails regardless of account status. And today I got an email saying it had been referred to a collections agency. Online support said “disregard that email”. These are just shoddy business practices and they have no way of stopping their invalid referral of this bill. I have to call and do it. What the heck Turo? Are you just another bunch of geeks trying to cash in on a .com rather than an actual business with solid business practices?
The concept is great and i had several great host experiences
The concept is great and i had several great host experiences...however if you ever need to get a hold of Turo quick? FORGET IT! I had to file a claim because i ran over a rock as i came around a bend from falling debris in a natural park during long rainy day. (Asphalt Road) Took to local mechanic for leaking fluid and Turo forced me to file claim on app and said give them 3 days to review?! i needed assistance immediately as the car was recommended to NOT drive! I had to take care of EVERYTHING. Used the roadside service since only humans available who told me they will tow and for me to make other arrangements. This was 9/23/20... It's still not resolved to this day because the owner has submitted 4 invoices over the first 4 months and i have debt collectors Turo sent to collect over $2300! The part would of cost me under $700 same day if i was allowed to fix, but not my car. The first estimate from the dealership Turo towed the car to said under $1000. I used MY Insurance from the start and No one contacts them. I will never use again!
Almost everytime I've rented from Turo
Almost everytime I've rented from Turo. The cars have not been as advertised. I've ran into situations where exhaust or muffler sounds bad. My last rent was an HHR in ***. Pictures on Turo website were not up to current year or prior month. I unfortunately skipped ( which turo website allows & I would not recommend to do) to take pictures before driving. When I picked up car there was a 4 to 6 inch crack in windshield. Which indicates it gradually spread over time. & tank was 1/2 full. It also looked like it was sitting on street for some time in a neighborhood with *** Anyway I didnt drive it to my destination due to driver mirrorr having blind spots. When I returned car I indicated the blind spot issue to Turo & said I only drove car to & from work for the two days I rented. The owner of vehicle is trying to say I put a crack in windshield & is trying to get a claim for $500. It is a total scam. I would not recommend using Turo at all. Honestly I think people put good reviews on website because most people may not be able to rent car from a legitimate place. Or feel Turo is cheaper. Which it's not due to the travel fee. It is a scam.

More expensive (booking fee and mandatory insurance), and less convenient (check-in/check-out requires taking *** pictures) than cars available through car rental search engines.
The car was great and had no problem with it, the problem started ofter I checked out and returned the car back cleaner
The car was great and had no problem with it, the problem started ofter I checked out and returned the car back cleaner than when I picked it up. They sent me pictures of other car that had crumbs and other stuff all over the car and had the nerves to say I was smoking in the car and I don't smoke at all and charged me for it. Trying to get over on me a none smoker really now that is low to do that to a person.
Initially, I was angry with Turo
Initially, I was angry with Turo. On my first booking with the company, the owner of the car that I reserved waited to tell me they were cancelling my trip until I was on my way (via Lyft - which I communicated to the car owner). I called customer service and had the privilege to speak with ***. This gentleman went above and beyond for me! In addition to the multiple apologies that he gave, he looked for a replacement for me. I was worried that Id have extra costs for the replacement, but *** assured me that the company cared about their customers, so they would not only find a replacement, but would cover additional charges associated. We were able to find a newer and much nicer model of the vehicle that I initially booked AND the car owner was willing to deliver/pick-up to the location of my choice (theres a charge for that as well, but Turo paid that cost as well - so I didnt have to find a ride to pick up/drop off the vehicle). I cant express how much I appreciate *** for not only being amazingly kind and caring, but for getting me a replacement ASAP and the company paying the additional costs to make it happen. I highly recommend Turo and will continue to utilize their service! (I wish I could give more than 5 stars!)
Worst customer service options. I have had an account for a while now. Went to use Turo and some how my account is under a certain review that has deactivated my account. Nothing sent to me from Turo about an issue with my account, only has a chat which the chat agent cannot not fix and the only resolution is having the next support team email me which now I have to wait on them for their issue at the end of the day. I guess Turo does not want to let their customer has their easy experience at the end of the day. Also seems the owners just want to line their pockets instead of having customer service.
A reservation completed and paid for over a month ago was cancelled just days before my trip. I was contacted by Turo, not the host, informing me that the car had been removed from the app. Despite reaching out, I received no communication from the host regarding the issue. I am unable to leave a rating for the host to alert other potential guests, as ratings can only be left upon completion of a trip, not for cancellations. This host should not maintain a 5-star rating; it misleads consumers. The representative from the customer service team was unable to address the complaint effectively.
Would give a zero if I could. First car had a tire pressure light. Had a replacement sent and that car had a check engine light come on. This has set me back SIX hours from a road trip and ultimately impacted plans. Worst first experience ever. Still waiting for BOTH cars to be picked up!
I rented a car from March 1st in California. By midday on the 12th, I was rear-ended. In California, if there are no injuries, 911 will NOT dispatch an officer and thus there is no police report filed. We handled it smoothly with the host and the guy who rear-ended me. Three strangers were able to deal with this issue just fine without any drama or unnecessary back-and-forth. But TURO on the other hand has not been smooth. I was charged for the full trip. They refuse to issue a refund because they say their policies are not conducive to state law. Turo suggested that I contact my host and try to get a refund. Turo claims they are only a car-sharing app/platform but as a national app, how are they not able to resolve such an easy issue. While the case was open, the host nor I could do anything about this situation, on the app. And now that the case is closed and sorted, Turo claims they can't do anything and they only operate according to their policies. So I want to let you all know that their policies are not beneficial to the users and not in accordance with state laws. BEWARE OF USING THIS APP. It will get you jammed up. Also, they will transfer you twenty times and hang up a few times to get you to experience consumer fatigue. I promise you that.
Turo offers a wider range of rates and vehicles than traditional car rental services.
Choosing Turo for car rental provides a wider range of rates compared to traditional agencies such as Budget. Turo's selection includes Jeeps, convertibles, trucks, Teslas, and more. Rentals can range from hours to months, with some offering unlimited mileage. Early bookings may come with discounts, and cancellations are possible up to 24 hours before. It's crucial to consider the host's rental history and ratings, aiming for experienced hosts with top ratings. Reading reviews helps avoid hosts known for last-minute cancellations. Ensure the vehicle's description matches your needs and verify the pickup location. Turo might suggest nearby options, so double-check the address. Many hosts will deliver to your chosen location for a fee, which can be more economical than using taxi services. If delivery is complimentary, consider tipping. Return the vehicle clean and with the same fuel level as when you received it to avoid additional fees. Turo is user-friendly and proactive in resolving issues. Lastly, verify with your insurance if Turo rentals are covered to avoid unnecessary extra insurance costs.
HORRIBLE! I rented a car for Spring Break everything was going Good with the car until I was on my way home the check engine light and the low oil pressure light came on so I informed the Host of these things he was like ok thanks for letting me know! Never once asked where we ok or do we think we'll make it back. So the day after I return the car I started getting these text from the Host talking about what I do with his oil cap I'm like Sir what you mean he was like you removed my oil cap and damaged my Engine first of all what reason would I have to be under your hood and second of all I wouldn't even know what to look for so know he's trying to get money out of me for something he probably knew was already missing! This company needs to BAN ASAP
BEWARE of renting with TURO Turo charged my card $131 a month and a half later after I had paid for my rental in full without authorization and submitted it as a reoccurring charge so I have it in dispute currently. The car was damaged, dirty and it stunk but we endured it because we needed a car and then they tried to charge me a mystery fee. *** did nothing for me.
You cant get anywhere with customer service! You get bounced around from person to person and its hard to understand all the different accents. I had numerous email from various agents instead of just one helping me out. One agent kept calling me sir even after I explained Im a maam. I asked to talk to a manager and the agent said there was no manager. I asked to talk to anyone else but he wouldnt transfer me. This week, I tried to close my Turo account on the app. It wouldnt let me. I sent an email asking someone to close it. I was told I needed to call a number. I called the number and was transferred twice. Now I sit and wait to see if this account will ever be closed. Worst customer service!
Turo has spent half a decade relying on third party developers such as CarSync and Fleetwire to enhance their appearance and brand. On May 1, 2023 your experience with Turo will take a major quality hit. Stick to brands like Hertz or Enterprise who have decades of experience in car rentals. Turo is removing the only tool that allowed their hosts to stay on the same quality levels as the big rental car agencies. Do not trust Turo.
The host that ripped me off was allowed to continue being a host and ripped off another guest. BEWARE DO NOT USE TURO AT LEAST IN THE USA IS BAD.
The most disappointing experience with one of TURO hosts I was ripped off with a false claim. And I feel so bad that another guest use the same car with the same host and also got ripped off.
Turo could have prevented this there were signs of deceiving, lying and stealing such is the conduct of the GUEST. Turo allowed this GUEST to repeat his pattern of ripping off customers.
Such is the law of the land among deceivers they cover each other backs.
Recommendation: DO NOT TAKE UNNECESSARY RISKS.

This is our experience:
Our first vacation since Covid with a planned agenda of visiting our 97 year old aunt in Long Beach for 5 days and then going on a sightseeing trip to Death Valley.
We rented a Fiat 500. The car (which we only used for about 150 miles) started displaying an airbag failure warning on day 5, so we alerted Turo and they arranged a backup car for us so we could continue on to Death Valley. Figuring out the logistics took more than two hours of phone conversations and waiting on hold that day.
The second car, also a Fiat 500 - provided by a different host - broke down on us on the first day in Death Valley. Luckily we had pulled over at one of the resorts that also had a adjacent car repair shop. After running several tests the mechanic determined that we were dealing with a failed battery and that it could not be recharged, so anytime we made a stop and turned off the car, we would not be able to start it again.
After another two hours on the phone with Turo and finally being taken care of by one of their supervisors, we found out that Turo could tow the car and set us up with another backup car provided by a local host (near Death Valley and probably from Pahrump, NV). However, per Turo rules, the car can only be dropped off at the same location as it was picked up. Regarding my question how we would get back to Los Angeles, since we had to drop off the car again in the Death Valley region, the supervisor had no solution. He said Turo provides a maximum of $60 worth of Uber vouchers, but there would be no other way to get us back to LA using a Turo car. The supervisor admitted to the dilemma and gave us permission to have the car checked and fixed so we could get back. The Death Valley mechanic could not replace the battery since he had none in stock and Turo roadside assistance were not willing to deliver a battery to our location. They only tow or jump start cars. At this point we had spoken with two separate supervisors who both were extremely sorry for the inconveniences we suffered and agreed that our options were limited and that this was not ok. Though neither could help us in this case.
So we had our car jump-started and drove ourselves all the way to Pahrump, Nevada through Death Valley with a failed battery. A 112 mile round trip. We contacted the host and let her know that her battery failed and informed her about all the details involved since we were under the impression Turo and their hosts are one and the same company (more about that at the end of the review).
We spent $225.95 on a brand new battery. We have not been reimbursed to this day. When we arrived back to Seattle from our trip we found a charge on our account for $19 for going over the allotted mileage. A) We had to drive an extra 112 miles to get to the closest place that had a battery replacement and B) we booked a car for 10 days at 200 miles per day. With receiving a backup car the mileage started over, so for the 4 days on the backup car we lost over 1000 miles of the overall booked 2000 total since we only used the first car for about 150 miles. Eventually this charge was refunded. However at the cost of us spending at least another two hours on the phone with agends and on hold to have it resolved.
We also found that our host had sent us a very unkind message on the Turo site that she had to spend $80 to have her car checked since we reported the battery and brake issues. She claimed that the brakes were brand new and that was the reason why they made creaky sounds and rattled the car when you pushed them. Note: We never met the host herself since one of her friends dropped off / picked up the car. The host also left a slanderous review on my Turo account accusing me of "hitting my own children behind the corner" (? I don'have children btw.) and that I alledgedly tampered with her headlight. The right headlight did not work when we returned the car. We pointed this out to the person who picked up the car (who wasn't the host). Since we never drove the car at night (and only drove in the dusk one time) we did not notice. The light might have been out from the very beginning. My responses to her were always very civil and polite. What set her off was the fact that Turo required her to have her car checked (which cost her money). She fabricated several other points in her review and we will now have to have Turo remove it. We have all this in the messages on our Turo site. If a Turo agent took the time to read through the messages (that was our only form of communication with her) and the hosts review they will see the false statements that were made.
We were promised a refund via a voicemail by one of the supervisors right after we returned on May 17th (we have it on file still). After nothing happened for a week I contacted Turo again and they then promised the refund within 24 hours in writing on May 24th. Nothing. In the meantime I had to travel to Europe for three weeks and did not have time to deal with Turo from over there. When I got back I made three more attempts to be reimbursed, two times I was told again that the refund would be there within 24 hours and the last time, just a couple of days ago, the Turo agent told me that the Executive team "still had not made a decision on the refund". In the meantime Turo first billed the first host for the battery that we bought for the car of our second host. I contacted Turo to make them aware of their mistake after our first host was stuck on the phone with them for over an hour to try and resolve that it was not his car that needed a battery replacement. Turo then posted on my account page that they would be charge ME for the $225.95. We got charged for the battery that we had paid for out of pocket (mind boggling!). We had to put our credit card on hold so the charge would not go through.
Yesterday we contacted a lawyer for guidance. And today I am starting to submit our experience to review sites and the social media. We will also be reporting this to the California Attorney General office. I have no more patience.
Here are the key points:
Turo sent us out in car with a failed battery and brake issues. We do not believe that the issues came from the brakes being brand new. This could have ended up potentially very dangerous for us since we had to cross Death Valley in a compromised car (and yes, Death Valley is one of Turo's advertised destinations in the region, see the offical site).
Turo's regulations do not allow to drop off a car in a different location than where it was picked up. If you drive a distance away from your pickup location and anything happens to the Turo vehicle you rented, Turo can provide you with a backup vehicle, but you will need to drop it off where you picked it up. Turo does not have a solution on how to get you back to your starting point.
It does not appear that Turo reliably knows the condition of the cars provided by their hosts. The car we rented had an old reconditioned battery in it (as confirmed by the host in writing) that failed us.
We spent 15 hours total on the phone with Turo since. This is the combined time of speaking/ texting with agents and being on hold. We have copies of our phone records and all the Chat emails and screenshots.
The Turo agents all were trying to be very helpful, I have to give them big points for that. But they could not help us because of the above mentioned Turo regulations and because the executive billing team was unresponsive.
I asked to speak with an agent over the phone a few days ago, but Turo has changed their contact options. You cannot talk with an agent over the phone directly anymore.
It is beyond frustrating to have a company just not respond when it comes to an owed and promised reimbursement. I also do not believe it is safe to drive Turo provided vehicles. I am sure there are many good, responsible hosts out there (like our first host) that take care of their cars and care about their guests, but the fact that we were sent out with a potentially dangerous vehicle leads to the assumption that there may be many more cars in their fleet out there that have not been appropriately checked for road worthiness. I would also urge Turo to check the remaining fleet of cars our host has with them. She claims to have 13 cars total working for Turo.
And if a Turo representative reads this, the reservation number associated with this review is ***. You will see that all that I stated here is correct and has been reported to Turo several times.
False damage claim
We rented a vehicle and our trip ended on 1/28. Immediately after dropping off the vehicle the host sent pictures of damage that he claimed we did to the vehicle. That evening I drove back to the vehicle and was able to take additional pictures proving we did no damage to the vehicle. On Jan 29th I submitted an online dispute through the Turo app with...

False damage complain
We rented a Rolls Royce from Jesus. Upon return, Jesus checked car out, everything was fine. Next thing you know we get a damage report submitted with pics that were so blatantly not how we gave car back. Clearly, Jesus wanted a new paint job. We submitted a reply on the Turo app
And waited a couple weeks for A response. There was no reply so we called and they said they sent an email saying to reply with additional info . We asked what email and gave the one that is on the app and they stated wasn’t it. We’ve tried to call 6 separate times to get resolution with no one knowing what to do and promising call Backs that never happen. Not sure what other info would be needed when we stated facts and provided proof with pictures and texts. Jesus got $2k for rental and we lost our $500 Deposit for nothing- we used Turo many times but never once thought there would be someone so outright shady to try to come up off us. We will never use this app again
Desired outcome: Full refund at this point for the time and stress it’s caused!
Car rental
I booked a 2021 Toyota Camry from the app on May 4th, 2023. The name of the host was Driven Auto R. with res. ID [protected]. I got a huge discount since it was almost 3 months ahead of the time. It cost me 529.78 USD for 9 days. The host canceled my trip at the last minute when I landed at LAX, I had to take a taxi, pay 156 USD for the ride and make a new reservation the next day with ID no [protected]. I was forced to pay 753,88 USD for 8 days + 156 ,17 USD taxi fare for a trip which I had planned to pay 529,88 USD and no taxi fare and no suffering. So I want the full reimbursement the difference
Desired outcome: I was forced to pay 753,88 USD for 8 days + 156 ,17 USD taxi fare for a trip which I had planned to pay 529,88 USD and no taxi fare and no suffering. So I want Turo to reimburse the difference which is 380.17 USD.
Reimbursement policy fee
I am a Turo host and the fee policy for smoking in vehicles has been denied to me. I am not getting a reimbursement. I showed images of tobacco crumbs and submitted my report within the timeframe that is required, which is 72 hours and it was denied. I submitted all the requirements and my images meet the requirements for reimbursement. I have tried multiple times to dispute this claim that was rejected by a representative by the name of Naomi. I have made multiple complaints to the executive department team. And no one from Turo seems to care all I keep on getting from them is that they congratulate me for being an all-star host which I honestly don’t care about. They are not doing anything to accommodate host that bring customers to their platform, I already removed two of my vehicles from their platform, they have no integrity. Turo is a bad platform overall for business from my own experience. You’re violating their own policy that they have in enforced.
Terrible Experience with Turo: Fraudulent Charges and Poor Customer Service
I recently rented a car from Turo for the first time and I must say, it was a terrible experience. Upon returning from my trip, I received an email from Turo stating that I had been charged a whopping fee of $237 for a chipped wind shield. This fee was more than the actual car rental itself! I was shocked and angry at the same time. I had not even noticed any damage to the car during my rental period.
To make matters worse, Turo charged my credit card on file automatically without any prior notice or authorization. This was a clear indication of fraudulent charges. I was extremely disappointed with their service and would never recommend them to anyone. I strongly advise you not to give these people your credit card or banking information.
The worst part of this whole ordeal was the customer service. They were completely biased towards the car owners and did not care about the users at all. It was as if they were only interested in making money and not providing quality service to their customers.
In conclusion, I will never use Turo again and I urge you to do the same. It is a total scam and not worth the risk. Please do yourself a favor and use a real car rental company instead. Don't get scammed by Turo!
Turo Review: A Big Scam, Not Safe for Customers, Beware!
This website called Turo is not good. It's a scam, a big scam. They don't even check their hosts. I had a bad experience with them. They accused me of smoking in the car, but I don't smoke. They even took pictures of ashes in the car as proof. I was terminated from Turo and now I can't even see my pictures or messages with the host. I sent them pictures of the car before I returned it, and it was clean. But they still took my money and I can't even talk to anyone about it. If it was just a little scratch or dent, I could understand, but smoking? I was the only one in the car and I don't smoke. It's really suspicious that the host had pictures of an ash-filled cup holder and console. It seems like a scam to me.
I really think you should be careful and not use Turo. They don't care about their customers and they don't even check their hosts. It's not safe.
Turo: A Disappointing Experience - Don't Waste Your Time or Money
I gotta say, I ain't too happy with Turo. I've rented from them three times now, and each time has been worse than the last. Just recently, they confirmed a trip for me, so I went ahead and made all my travel arrangements - including booking a non-refundable hotel room - only to get an email from them at 1 am (seriously, who sends emails at that hour?) saying they had to cancel the trip. Apparently, my membership couldn't be approved, even though I've rented from them three times already this year and I've got a clean driving record, good credit score, and plenty of insurance. They didn't give me any explanation at all, and the only way to get in touch with them is through text or email. And don't even bother trying to call their customer service - it's all outsourced to the Philippines, and they won't help you at all.
I was so looking forward to my holiday travel plans, and Turo just went and ruined everything. They didn't even have the decency to explain why they had to cancel my trip. Honestly, these guys are a bunch of cowards. They're just out to make a quick buck, and they don't care about their customers at all. I wouldn't be surprised if they went out of business soon - they certainly deserve it. I wish I could give them less than one star, because they're truly rotten. Do yourself a favor and stay away from Turo.
Disappointing Experience with Turo: Hidden Fees and Poor Customer Service
So, we rented a car from Turo and everything was going great. But then, our flight got cancelled and we had to change our reservation. We did it right away so that the host wouldn't be put out. But then, we got hit with an extra $70 delivery fee! We were confused because we had originally been told that the fee was waived since we were renting for 7 days. But now, because we changed the reservation by one day, we were suddenly being charged more. It didn't make any sense to us.
We tried to reach out to Turo's customer service for help, but it was a total nightmare. We spent two hours messaging back and forth on the app, only to be told to call a service center. But when we called, we just got sent back to the billing department. It was so frustrating! Finally, we were told that the only way to avoid the extra charge was to ask the host to send us a message saying they would waive it, and then take a screenshot of that message. It was such a hassle and felt really unprofessional.
Honestly, we were so disappointed with the whole experience that we'll never use Turo again. It's a shame because we had heard good things about it, but this whole situation just left a bad taste in our mouths. We wasted so much time trying to sort everything out, and it just wasn't worth it. We'll be looking for other rental options in the future.
Disappointing Experience with Turo: Host Cancelled Reservation & Delayed Deposit Return
The host cancelled my reservation at the last minute. Both the host and Turo website promised to return my deposit payment within 24 hours. However, it has been 7 days and I still have not received my money back in my account. American Express confirmed that Turo is still holding onto my money. The Turo app is almost impossible to navigate through the robot. I am very disappointed with this experience.
When I rent from Hertz, my deposit is returned to my credit card within 24 hours. Additionally, most credit card or private insurance companies do not cover any damage that might occur to the car. This forces you to buy the highest level of insurance. I recommend that you do not use this site unless you are sure of all the expenses you are getting into. There are a lot of additional hidden fees and expenses. In most cases, it is definitely cheaper and easier to rent from a major company.
At the very least, make sure you pick a very good host with lots of experience and good reviews. Otherwise, I recommend that you do not use this site.
Mixed Experience with Turo: Good Rental with Guy, Bad Experience with Roman and False Smoking Charge
My experience with Turo was a mix of good and bad. At first, everything was great when I rented a car from Guy. However, things went downhill when I upgraded my rental with his colleague Roman.
After returning the vehicle on March 27, I received a notification a day or so later that I was being charged almost $300 for smoking in the car. I was also told that I would never be allowed to rent with Turo again. This was based on three photos that were taken: one with two Doritos that had slipped between the seats, another of the outside of the car, and a third that supposedly proved I had smoked in the car. However, the third photo was actually just silt from 1000 miles of travel and glacial hikes. I was never advised of any policy around cleaning the car before returning it. Additionally, I was never told that purchasing marijuana products, which is legal in Alaska, could potentially result in me being accused of actually smoking it in the car.
Now, I am currently having to contest this claim with the bank. It has been almost a month and a half, and Turo has still not been in communication with me to substantiate this fraudulent claim.
Overall, I cannot recommend Turo to anyone based on my experience. It's a shame because my initial experience with Guy was great, but the negative experience with Roman has left a bad taste in my mouth.
Mixed Experience with Turo: Great Service, Bad Host - Best Deals
Turo is a really good service to rent from, but I had a bad experience with one of its hosts, Best Deals, when I rented his 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport. This guy was really rude, impatient, and unprofessional. He canceled my reservation without my approval just because I couldn't find the instructions he gave me on how to upload some documents. This was my first time using Turo and this particular host. I just told him that if I couldn't find what he was talking about, I might have to cancel. I didn't say I wanted to cancel. When I asked for a supervisor, he said I was threatening him just because I asked for a supervisor. He was so rude that's why I asked for a supervisor. I will never recommend renting from this host again.
Thankfully, Turo's customer service was able to read all the messages on my account, and they rebooked me another vehicle at the same cost. Even though the other vehicle was much more expensive, Turo made it right by taking care of the difference for my inconvenience. I'm really grateful for their help.
If you're thinking about renting from Turo, just be aware of this host, Best Deals. He's not a good person to rent from. But overall, Turo is a great service, and I would definitely use it again.
Disappointing Experience with TURO.com: Poor Communication and Customer Service
My experience with TURO.com was not a good one. My wife and I had planned a trip to the Grand Canyon and we made a reservation months in advance to rent a JEEP. However, we found out on our own the day before we left that the reservation had been cancelled two weeks prior. We were shocked to learn that the cancellation was due to a technicality with my wife's license. She had used my driver's license but her email, which caused the cancellation. We received ZERO notification or warning about this issue.
When we contacted customer service, they were not helpful at all. They only offered to correct the account and license information but did not offer to replace the vehicle rental or reservation. At that point, there were only some very high-priced sports cars available for rental. The representative offered us a $55 voucher, which was laughable. The entire situation felt like a bait-and-switch con.
I would advise anyone planning to use TURO.com to have a backup rental with a traditional car service that you can cancel if TURO.com falls through. The communication from TURO.com was very poor and their customer service was not helpful. We received very little acknowledgment or recourse from this company. We were lucky to salvage our vacation with a last-minute, very high-priced traditional car rental company. At that point, TURO.com had pretty much left us out to dry.
Overall, I was very disappointed with my experience with TURO.com. The lack of communication and poor customer service left a bad taste in my mouth. I hope that they can improve their services in the future to prevent this kind of situation from happening to other customers.
Budget Car Rental Review: Hassle-Free and Affordable Experience in LA
So, I was in LA for a business trip and decided to rent a car from Turo. I went for a normal 4-door car and the cost for 5 days was $480. However, I had to choose between going to the car owner's place or paying an extra $60 for them to pick me up. I chose the latter, so the total cost became $540. But that's not all, I also had to take extra insurance cover to reduce my excess from $8000 to $500, which was $26.50 per day. So, the total cost became approximately $650. That's just over $1000 in Australia!
Then, I decided to check out Budget at LAX Airport. I found a brand new 2021 4-door standard car for $488 in Australia, which is cheaper than Turo. Plus, the ultimate cover insurance was only $34 per day, which meant I didn't have to pay anything in case of an accident. So, the total cost became around $750 in Australia.
I chose Budget and it was a hassle-free experience. They took my information, bused me to my car, and I drove out after getting scanned. When I returned the car, they scanned it again and bused me back to the terminal. It was that simple!
On the other hand, with Turo, I had to bring the car back to the owner's place and then take a taxi back to the airport for $60. It was not worth the hassle and extra cost.
I have rented cheap cars in London for 20 pounds before, but it was a wreck. My life is worth more than that. So, I would recommend going for a reputable company like Budget for a hassle-free and safe experience.
PS: Please excuse any spelling mistakes as I am a tradie, not a journalist. Happy holidays!
Turo Review: Scammed by Host and Unlawful Charges - Stay Away!
Turo is not a good choice for booking a car. My experience with them was the worst and scariest I have ever had. I rented a vehicle last week and made sure to document all damages during check-in. However, as soon as I hit 60mph, the vehicle would shake uncontrollably. It was not safe to drive at all. When I returned the vehicle, the host claimed the same windshield damage that was included with pictures in our check-in process. When I disputed it, the host got vengeful and claimed smoke damage as well, with no proof of smoking. I thought Turo would not stand for such a scam, but they immediately blocked my account and began unlawfully charging my credit card. Their only response was that they trust their host and provided zero proof or explanation. After multiple fraudulent charges, I had to make a report to my creditors. Turo will never help the guest, so be prepared for more hidden fees after the end of the trip. I feel completely scammed. All the pictures before and after did nothing to help. Turo didn't even care to review them. "Our decision is made" and nothing you say will change that was their response to a multiple 5-star guest. It's a shame that Turo doesn't care about their customers and only cares about their hosts. I would never book with them again.
Unfair claim
Hi I rented on Turo from May4-May9 2023, and completed the trip on May9 2023.
I got a message from the host on May15 2023, said the car was damaged during my trip. The host also confirmed he noticed and took the picture of the damage on May15 2023 by word through turo message.
The host submit a claim through Turo, and I provided all evidence showing the host confirmed the damaged picture was taken on May15 2023.
Turo disclosed to me there was a trip between May10- May13 2023.
Turo said the damaged picture was taken on May9 2023, and charged from my credit card when I am still disputing.
Worst experience ever!
Turo rental company customer service
We booked car with turo from May 18-May 23. Host was super, we were going Vancouver to Banff and back. In between Clearwater and Valemont our car got broke some mechanical error. There was little fire and smoke on May 19 and we were 8 members with 4 kids. So in middle of highway where no cellphone we were stuck. Few car stopped and helped to bring to valemont which was 60 km from where car broke. Turo was not at all helpful. They said we can’t do anything or send any new car. Can pay $150 for you to figure out. With kids we booked new hotel in valemont and still figuring out how we can reach back to Vancouver. They hang up our phone and shows in booking it got cancelled on May 18. In starting they said first they need to tow the car and then will let us know what they can do but no one called. We called 6 times and no response and now agent say you don’t have any active booking. Just FYI in valemont there is no Uber, taxi or rental car company. Very worst experience with turo. Should ban such company who leave our family in middle with no other option and need to figure out how we can reach back home. All booking is gone. Made our vacation worst
Desired outcome: Reimburse for all our booking, new booking, amount spending to get back home, all activity booking for next 2 days
I rented a vehicle using their app for a vacation from 12/18 to 12/24
I rented a vehicle using their app for a vacation from 12/18 to 12/24. I waived the insurance offered by Turo when I booked the vehicle. On the day I picked up the vehicle, I received instructions via text from the vehicle owner that once my flight landed and I have gotten my baggage, to take a specific hotel shuttle and pick up his vehicle at a hotel parking lot which I did. Upon arriving at the hotel and looking for his vehicle in the parking lot of said hotel, my family and I were reprimanded by the shuttle bus driver and his manager for using the bus shuttle illegally, even though I was only doing what I was told to do in order to get the vehicle that I had paid for. This caused an embarrassing scene around 10 PM for my family and I after a long day of traveling. We were not allowed to leave either until I provided the vehicle owner information to the shuttle driver and his manager. I was also told countless times by the shuttle drive and manager that what I did was not allowed and that the hotel shuttle was for hotel guests only. I say all this to provide a reason as to why I did not take any photos of the vehicle upon arrival. I did look over the vehicle and did not notice anything wrong. When I returned the vehicle, the vehicle owner was 45 minutes late to our scheduled meeting time/location with the reason being that another one of his Turo cars was towed for illegally parking in another hotel parking lot and so he had to go pick up his renters in his personal vehicle and take them to where he was scheduled to meet me. This was when the other renters took his car and he got into our rental and we headed to departures area of the terminal so that he could drop my family and I off. Once we got to departures, the vehicle owner informed me that he could not finalize the rental there because he was not allowed to park there and take pictures of the vehicle at the terminal and that he would have to do it offsite w/o me present. This is why there were no pictures taken when I dropped off the vehicle. On 12/30, I received an email that a damage claim had been submitted by the vehicle owner stating that there was damage to the rear trunk. It would seem that the driver side corner of the trunk lid closest to the rear window did not align with the body panel when the trunk was shut and that I was being blamed for it. I was provided a picture of it along with an estimate of $127 to fix it ($27 for the damage, $75 for appraisal fee and $25 for processing fee). There were no other pictures provided, which I can only assume meant that there were no damages anywhere else on the vehicle (no damage on the trunk itself or damage/scratches/scraps to the rear bumper or signs of forced entry into the trunk that would have caused the damage reported). So this 'damage' could have already been there. I honestly didn't understand how I could have caused this but since this is my word against his, I went ahead and paid the $127 and thought that was the end of it.Then today, 2/12, I received a supplement request for additional repair costs to fix the trunk alignment in the amount of $1924.44. Tell me this is not insane to go from an original estimate of $127 to $1924.44 to fix a trunk alignment that *** not have been my fault to begin with?
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
On 12/29 I rented a car from a host on Turo. The car was misadvertised and not the car displayed in the posting. The host was fabricated photos of the car I returned 24hrs later with cigarette butts in it. I have proof in the chat feed with the host that he faked this due to being angry about me giving him a bad review. Through further investigation it turns out Turo will remove bad reviews for hosts. Based off the transcripts I have of a chat between Turo and the host they have removed bad reviews for him previously. Had Turo not removed these reviews I would have had an accurate portrayal of who the host was and I would have chosen to rent through another host. I have been a 5 star customer with them until this incident. The crux of this complaint is Turos support of fraudulent representation. Turo allowed fraudulent photos of the hosts vehicles to be posted and advertised, and allowed the host to have unfavorable reviews taken down. This does not allow the consumer to make an informed decision. I cannot fully consent if information is being withheld. Turo fully allowed this host to violate me by supporting and facilitating his fraudulence. I was then banned from the app after complaining to Turo.
I rented a car through Turo, from December 22-Jan 1 2023. I drove the car normally. I was informed that there was damage to the car totaling $450 after I returned it. My options were to pay the host the damages or file a claim with the company. I had no accidents with the car, simply drove it a normal way, which included going over speed bumps. Because the car sits nearly on the ground there was no way to avoid the scraped bumper, even going less than 5 mph. The owner is also attempting to charge me for 'road rash' on one tire, when he admits there was already damage to that tire. I've been given multiple different answers to various issues regarding both the claim and the rules of conduct for hosts. The insurance policy I bought for $200 doesn't seem effective as they will still go through my personal insurance first. The coverage states that any damage, even if it's not my fault, is my financial responsibility. The way that this company does business is misleading, and puts customers in vulnerable positions to be charged beyond the rental fees for common everyday use-with no real recourse to appeal.
On December 13th I rented a dodge dart on turo thru a young man named *** upon picking up the car there was significant superficial damage on every panel of the exterior of the car (bumper, hood, fenders, a giant dent as well in the driver side curbed rims ect.) I mean the passenger seat wasn't even bolted to the floor... upon 2-3 days after returning the car *** made a claim with turo saying I scratched his bumper, I submitted my evidence showing I did no such thing and was told in 1 business week I would have a answer during this time *** said he would send a estimate to me and handle it out of the eyes of turo, he never sent this estimate, claimed his car was fine in a comment on my review of his rental it's now January, turo pulled $638.29 from someone's credit card (***) that is not in my name and does not even reside in the same state or sign or authorize such a transaction, I since have sent this person (***) $638.29 and turo locked my account with them and is refusing to answer why my account is locked, will not tell me what's going on with this dispute with *** after I submitted my evidence twice via email and numerous phone calls which they have acknowledged they are in possession of. I need assistance having this dispute settled, my money given back to me and for turo to be held accountable for shady business
The date of the conversation with the car owner was July 7, 2022 upon the return of the vehicle. After returning of the vehicle she charged me a smoking fee and I messaged the owner explaining I did not smoke in her *** may have been on my shoes but I did not smoke in the car. Her reply was I'm going to still charge you the fee and block you from renting in the future. After that I left a complaint under her profile about the situation. She later messaged me after the complaint saying she will have my account blocked and I will not get any money back. I want to make this clear that I did not smoke in her car. The reason for the complaint is because me and my cousin rented a car at the same time but returned the car at a different time and she made the same statement to him and blocked his account. I am asking for the block to remove from my account. Also I have attached photo to support my claim
Hello,
Original charge of $127 was to get an appraisal for the damages. *** was contacted on 2/12 to inform them of the results. Issue was clarified and Guest paid damages on Feb. 12, 2020
Best,
Turo
I'm writing to complain about services not rendered as stated
I'm writing to complain about services not rendered as stated. On June 4th I rented my personal 2018 dodge challenger awd GT on turo to a guy named Travell. He came got the vehicle from my home. Then on June 8th a girl called me named Caribbeanqueen and informed me she had an accident. I told her she was not the renter and needed to be added by the renter. Afterwards, I met the young lady at the impound yard she told me she asked him to rent the dodge challenger and her girl friend used her credit card to book it. She was happy I was not mad however I was very upset and saw her arm inside a sling because she dislocated her shoulder. My compliant is that turo accepted Travell with a credit card that didn't match his name. The credit card was from another woman. Turo rental policy states the renters driver license and credit card must match. Reason I know this is because I asked what insurance did he chose and she informed me "we chose premium insurance coverage ". She told me on the 9th or 10th turo took the $500 from her credit card. Not the renters nor the female who was driving but the girl friend who let travell rent the car for the other female friend. These two girls just turned 21yrs of age and both rented dodge challengers for their birthday they told me so they made sure to get full coverage as advised by their parents. If turo would have caught this I would still have my custom awd 2018 custom dodge challenger Gt. I paid and put a h*** of alot of money into that AWD GT 2018 dodge challenger which only had *** miles when I purchased and *** miles from what i remember prior to being totaled. I even uploaded over 50 pages of custom work i did to the vehicle. DMA claims/and or turo (*** and associates) claims has not paid me nor given me my"loss of income" as promised because I had the premium insurance protection plan also. Nor have I recieved money for my total lost. Also, today is July 15 and the interest accruing on a daily rate from the automobile loan i took just 7 months ago. Then the longer they take my vehicle is depreciating while they are stalling/and or waiting for approval. No one has any answers why this process is taken so long. I need the money owed to me to take off my credit. Turo did provide me with a rental car credit and helped me by removing cancelation charges due to my car being toteled but did do their job by paying my loss/ or DMA claims by paying my loss nor by verification of travell credit card used. This is taking too long the turo customer service claims specialist even replied on a email DMA claims never take than long. However, the verification process failed to protect my very expensive AWD Challenger which is a rare vehicle based on the other dodge challengers made between [protected]. I cant find a replacement at a good price and when I do I have no funds nor credit to buy because Turo/DMA claims has not paid the vdhicle off nor my loss of income payment . They have not even told me what the *** actual cash value is yet?. Im discouraged and saddened by my Allstar host statue with over 660 rentals since 2016. I been on turo for 4 yrs and did what they asked me to do. This process is too long! Thank God dodge/mopar is going to partial refund some the warranty I purchased.

Date: 12/26/2022 Canceled Booking 2 hours prior to scheduled time. This complaint is in reference to a vacation that I planned for 8 months to ensure that everything was in order, Including the car booking. I spoke to *** the host several times after booking for verification of status. Each time, I was advised that all was well and there were no questions from the host. Had he asked in the months leading up to the scheduled date if I planned to leave the Miami area, I would have been truthful as I was when he asked 10 hours before the scheduled time and advised that I would be going out of the Miami area. The listing was for unlimited mileage and had no restrictions for leaving the area. After ***'s (The Host) inquiry regarding where I would be driving the unlimited mileage, he abruptly canceled the booking without forewarning and while we were IN Mid-Flight 2 hours away from the destination citing that the vehicle needed service. The cancelation, Mid-flight, completely disrupted my vacation plans and I was forced to find another vehicle quickly. This was at an increased cost of around $250 (not including the $300 deposit) which I had not planned on and left me without a large amount of funds that were pre-planned for vacation expenses. The cancelation also tied up the refund for the booking until I had returned home. This also severely cut into the first day of my vacation, making me miss my scheduled dive and disrupting the remaining days as I had to reschedule, and a full day of planned activities were missed. There is no other way to see this matter other than complete and utter fraud committed by the host and a gross mismanagement by Turo. I expect that the company who backs the one who committed the fraud to step up and provide amicable compensation for my increased rental cost, the inconvenience of the deposit hold and refund wait, the interruption of my vacation including missing a dive and causing other parts of my vacation to be missed.
AVOID AVOID AVOID. Don't count on Turo's help when things go wrong. I attempted to extend a rental that was plagued with issues (that I resolved on my own with the host). Flat tyre, tyre replacement, subsequent NEW flat tyre, presumed valve issues at this point. For whatever reason, the extension request didnt go through properly on the app and when I contacted support in the morning to arrange the extension with them, I was informed that I would need to make a BRAND NEW RESERVATION on Turo for the car. This was now going to cost me 330, instead of the 204 quoted to me for the extension I attempted to make the day before, in addition to a NEW DEPOSIT of 250, while they continued to hold my existing 250 deposit. I informed them I would find an alternative solution to making a new booking through them.Turo support then proceeded to send me threatening emails about contacting local police and keeping all of my deposit if I didnt either return the vehicle immediately (?!) to the host, or make the new booking with them within the hour. They then proceeded to take an additional *** payment for the late return (which I doubt the host will see a *** of), despite my being in communication with my very friendly host who was aware of our situation at every point on the trip. Still no sign of my deposit being returned.Being ill and travelling this week has been incredibly stressful, in addition to being a very expensive holiday week, Turo was really the icing on the cake. Will AVOID in future.
On Sunday, 11/27/22, my brother drove me to *** to pick up a Turo rental van that I would use for a ***+ mile trip moving furniture. We met with the host at noon. He drove from CT and met us at *** for an extra fee of $150. When we got the van, the host took a plethora of pictures and uploaded them right away to the Turo app. When we got in the van, it reeked of weed. We stupidly did not refuse the van at the time. During the trip, I had issues with two tires, and had to replace them against the wishes of the host. He was forced to pay me for the tires because it was a safety issue. He must have gotten mad and wanted revenge. I dropped off the van at 11:30 at ***, in the parking lot (no grassy area) on 12/5/22. The host showed up at noon, got in the van's driver's seat, and looked at the mileage. He did NOT take any pictures. The next day, I received an email from Turo stating, in part: "Your host submitted photos that showed you returned the vehicle in a condition different than the condition it was in when you received it at the start of the trip. We carefully reviewed the photos and concluded that the vehicles post-trip condition violated our No Smoking policy and charged you the established policy violation fee in the amount of $295.81."They attached a picture of a joint with ashes in the car, allegedly on the dashboard. I sent them a reply: "If the ashes were there at the time I returned the car, then why did it take this host two hours to upload the pictures? Why didn't he upload them or take the pictures at the time he received the car at *** at noon?... He drove two hours to get back to CT. He smoked the weed himself. I uploaded my pics when I dropped off the car." I attached one photo wherein you need to zoom in to see there are NO ashes in the dash, and the van was not parked near any grass. My pic is date and time stamped. When did he take his?I want my fee back from Turo. The host falsely accused me.
I have been in business with the company TURO since a few months ago. I am still considered new. TURO claims they had a glitch on their end and waived my fees. I am a host, I rent my car through them, and charge when I meet a guest somewhere thats not my home location. I contacted TURO and they said they couldnt do anything, they are charging their fees for $117 while what I was charging extra was $80. They insist they will NOT reimburse me anything and just change for next trip. I dont need to change anything on my end since I have been charging since I set up my account. $80 May not be a lot for some, for me it is, aside from the 3+ hours that it takes me to do all this going waiting and coming back. TURO does not want to take responsibility for their mistakes and just take advantage of their hosts.
