Unifin Someone, who doesn't speak very good English, called to speak to someone from my phone number

Someone, who doesn't speak very good English, called to speak to someone from my phone number. They couldn't pronounce my name, and refused to give me the name of their company. When I refused to identify myself they hung up the phone. I called right back to see who this company was. A man answered but refused to give me the name of the company, saying I might be a scammer. Why would I call your company as a scammer? They barely can speak English, and were trying to get me to confirm whatever they were trying to do. I am not confirming any delinquent accounts because I don't have any.

I receive 7 back to back missed calls from this business in their attempt to collect debt. They never leave voicemails (at least identifying who the company is). I called to get info on the business and their employees were extremely rude. I told one agent I wanted the info on the business so I could file a complaint and he said "that's fine, you can do whatever you want" and hung up. Then called back and another agent answered. Told her 4-5 times I wanted to speak with a supervisor before she stopped talking about the debt and then asked if I wanted to speak with a supervisor or continue talking to her, to which I obviously explained I wanted to be transferred. Waited 5 minutes on hold and no one ever answered...

They want personal information, but I have not authorized them to have it. Here are my points of contention:

1. I have never held an account with the company Unifin and I demand their removal from all credit agencies from reporting.

2. The term 'consumer' refers to any natural person obligated or allegedly obligated to pay any debt, as defined by the relevant U.S. Code.

3. This letter serves to invoke my right to cease communication as outlined in the applicable U.S. Code.

4. As the consumer in question, I am addressing WORLD FINANCE CORPORATION, the debt collector, and I am invoking my rights for specified remedies under the relevant U.S. Code as a creditor, demanding the termination of all further collection efforts.

5. As the executor under the applicable U.S. Code, I am enforcing my rights which state that a debt collector may not engage in conduct that harasses, oppresses, or abuses any person in connection with the collection of a debt. This includes specific violations as outlined in the code.

6. It is stated in the U.S. Code that communicating or threatening to communicate false credit information, or failing to communicate that a disputed debt is disputed, is a violation.

7. The implication that accounts have been turned over to innocent purchasers for value is a false representation and is addressed in the U.S. Code.

8. As mentioned in the U.S. Code regarding unfair practices, it is required that a debt collector cease collection of the debt, or any disputed portion thereof, until verification of the debt is obtained.

9. In accordance with the U.S. Code on Civil Liability, any debt collector who fails to comply with any provision of this subchapter with respect to any person is liable to such person for damages as specified in the code.

I received a text message from a supposed "Unifin Debt Collector" with a reference number. Phone number I received the text from does not come up with anything in a search. But searching the number within the text brought up that it was Unifin. I did not click on the web link. Either way, I have no debts in collections and believe this to be a scam.

Unifin I paid off my balance with Unifin in the amount of $675.12 on 3/31

I paid off my balance with Unifin in the amount of $675.12 on 3/31. The funds were debited from my account on 3/31. I verified this with my ***. I called Unifin back on 6/3 to see why the balance is still showing outstanding. They told me that the payment of $675.12 did not clear. I see the payment as cleared in my bank app on 3/31 to Unifin in the amount of $675.12. I called the *** and they also confirmed that the payment was in fact made to Unifin. So now Unifin is telling me I need to dispute the issue via a *** machine. They received my money as per the agreement I had with them. This is bad business practice.

UNIFIN is unlawfully attempting to collect on debts stemming from the [protected] recession, which involved both commercial and residential real estate mortgage-backed securities. The legal time frame to enforce this type of debt is 4 years in certain jurisdictions. Residents of some states, historically known for their antebellum practices, may find there is no time limit on debt collection. The fact that UNIFIN is pursuing these debts in areas where they are well aware that no legal obligation exists is a clear case of fraudulent activity. Regulatory authorities should intervene, cease UNIFIN's operations, and reward me with a $10,000 whistleblower compensation. The disreputable individual in South Carolina who sold my debt to UNIFIN is another deceitful actor who attempted to collect for 3 years, despite knowing the debt was acquired well beyond the legal collection period. I once engaged in a conversation with him to gauge the extent of his deceit. He boasted about his own unethical practices, further confirming his lack of remorse and moral integrity. The cycle of selling this 'debt paper' continues, with each new agency being more unscrupulous than the last. UNIFIN is possibly the fourth misguided entity to purchase this debt. An acquaintance of mine once acquired portfolios of credit card debt for a mere fraction of the actual amount owed. I am aware of numerous accounts where individuals, who intended to settle their debts honorably, were duped and had their credit scores damaged again as the debt was resold to yet another fraudulent collector who falsely promised to restore their credit. Fortunately, my credit score has recovered to above 810. For those interested in understanding financial fraud, I recommend watching the film 'The Big Short.'

They are a scam. No ONE should call you asking for your personal information to verify your identity. They called me and immediately asked if I could verify my social security number to see if they were speaking to the right person. First of all, trust me NO ONE is going to pay anyone else's debts willingly. So, there is zero reason to ask for a person's social security number other than to try to steal their identity. No one at this company could tell me which debt they were attempting to collect. Ironically enough, I just paid off all of my collections and debts in May so I know for a fact who I currently owe. I only owe student loans and am not in collections. This business needs to stop unsavory practices and I believe they are a front for identity theft.

I received an email from Unifin claiming I owed money to a company. Email sent to an incorrect name regarding an account that I have never had. Checked Unifin online and they are obviously a SCAM oriented operation.WARNING to everyone Unifin is NOT a legitimate company and completely misrepresents things to make you believe you must pay them. DO NOT respond to this fraudulent operation.

Unifin If I could give a zero rating, I would

If I could give a zero rating, I would. I called this company wondering what the heck this notice was for since I didn't recall this problem. A female with a heavy accent answered a few questions and believe me I had a lot more. It was a MasterCard from 2008 and was wondering if I was going to pay this debt. I told her I want the name and telephone # of the creditor who request them to collect this $$. She said they probably wouldn't have my name and any information on file as they gave everything to them to collect. I requested this again and she said to call back when I'm ready to pay then hung up. Very, very rude. This looks like a scam if I ever saw one.

Did a payment plan online and negotiated for less. Balance was 678. Paid 475. Waited a month for it to come off my credit report. Nothing. Disputed on ***. Called them, spoke with a women who said I still owe $203. I was livid. I had the letter for the payment schedule but then realized I had lost it when I moved. All I had was proof in a screenshot. Realizing I wasnt going to get anywhere with them, I paid the remaining 203. Very sketchy.

My complaint echoes the sentiments of several others I've come across on this platform. I was issued a fraudulent notice of a past due account, which also referenced a 'Doing Business As' entity and another unnamed party. The notice alleged that I have an outstanding debt of $2254.33, with a 'charge-off' date of January 2. In a rather insincere gesture, they proposed a one-time settlement payment of $1352.60. The document bore an illegible signature, failing to provide a credible source.

If I could give zero stars, or negative stars, I would... but at least one star is required. I believe this company is a complete scam, especially after reading all of the reviews. I received an email today from Unifin stating "Second Notice" (I never received a "First Notice") and that I owe a significant amount, almost $4,000, and that this is an old debt. I do not owe any money and have always been in good standing with my account. The email threatens to report this "debt" to credit reporting agencies.

I was going to call and advise them I do not, nor have I ever, owed any money for my account. However, after reading the Complaintsboard.com reviews for this company, I will not reach out to them as I do not want to start the chain of inevitable harassment as discussed in the reviews I've read on this site. Hopefully, they will not report my "debt" to credit reporting agencies, as that undoubtedly will be a huge mess to untangle just to prove my innocence. Stay away from Unifin.

Paid the settlement agreement with this company and still waiting on email receipt. Have called 3 times and get the same story every time..will receive one in 24 to 48 hrs..., still nothing. Now I am going to file theft charges, since they took my money, and didn't send the paperwork as agreed. Sending paperwork saying it will pay the account in full and then not honoring the agreement is theft.

I have been continuously harassed by this company. They call nonstop. They will not divulge any information about themselves until you give them yours. Hesitantly, I identified myself because I wanted the calls to stop. They were calling to collect a debt on an old account. When I told them that I need proof that I owe anything, they stated it was sent back in 2017. I stated I never received it and would like another copy. The supervisor became irate and asked if I am refusing to pay the debt. I stated I don't owe anything and again asked if she could provide proof. She started talking over me and stated so you are refusing to make payment. I will make a note on the file and hung up on me. They are relentless and unprofessional!

Look, I'm not going to sugar coat anything here - they are a collection agency trying to get you to pay your debt that you agreed to with the initial company. I've been working with them for a few years and I haven't had any problems with them. My only complaint is that whenever you log onto their website a chat box pops up with an agent asking how they can help you - yes that is nice; however, when you close the chat box another one just pops up with a different agent or sometimes the same one asking how they can help you again. It is non-stop, you try to review your information and it is annoying to have that chat box pop up over and over. Even when you click to a different page another chat box pops up. It is almost to the point where I don't even want to use their website to review my information. I know I have a collection and I have an auto payment come out every two weeks or so - but come on. That chat box doesn't need to be continuous. Other than that - they have been great to work with. Just that *** chat box! "

I paid off my balance with Unifin in the amount of $675.12 on March 31. The funds were debited from my account on the same day. I verified this with my bank statement. I called Unifin back on June 3 to inquire why the balance was still showing as outstanding. They informed me that the payment of $675.12 did not clear. However, I see the payment marked as cleared in my bank app on March 31, to Unifin for the exact amount of $675.12. I contacted my bank, and they also confirmed that the payment was indeed made to Unifin. Despite this, Unifin is now advising me to dispute the issue through a formal complaint process. They have received my money in accordance with the agreement I had with them. This is an example of poor business practice.

Unifin They do not deserve any stars at all!

They do not deserve any stars at all! But unfortunately, I had to mark at least one to leave a review. I called and told them I was recording the call and they said that is not legal because they do not give permission, then hung up. I called back to find out what the charge was for and they just kept saying that there is a discounted offer, otherwise the full amount would be attached to my social security number on a credit report. When I said I don't know what the charge is, he simply said I was hoping to get you to take advantage of the offer, I guess not...then hung up! SCAM? Probably! Afterwards, I tried to get online on the [protected]@ unifinrs.com which they provided in the letter, I was denied access. DO NOT SEND THEM MONEY!

Unifin just received a call from Unifin

just received a call from Unifin. From, Miss Samantha, who was rude and short in respect to the purpose of the call. She stated I had a debt from 2003, its 2020, I've bought multiple houses and autos since 2003 and credit has never been an issue. She stated the call would be recorded. She did have my SSN last four, so I rode the call out. I asked for the company name, her name, which was given. I told her I was going to research the company before I just gave someone money over the phone. She then got short and rude and said "..ill make a note stating you don't intend to pay" and hung up. She spoke with a heavy accident, was generally hostile and had noise in the background, she became even more angry when I said I was hearing impaired and needed to speak to someone with less of an accident and less background noise.

Unifin Can I do zero stars?

Can I do zero stars? They call my cellphone looking for my mother. They refuse to state who they are and what they are calling regarding. However, they want YOU to confirm you name, address, and soc. number, which they gladly read off to you. They call continuously from spoof numbers when you tell them wrong number, don't call, or when you're not the person they're looking for and they hang up on you. It took me pretending to be a power of attorney for my mother before they gave me an email to send them proof, which clued me in that it's unifin. More like unfun. Found out they specialize in Verizon debt, well wouldn't you know my mom's only debt in 10 years - a Verizon phone bill we disputed. This was a bill from 7 years ago. This place is shady and want you to confirm your sensitive information before they tell you even what company they're from... why? Because if everyone knew the name of the company, they'd report them for their shady behavior and harassment.

Unifin They sent and offer letter for a debt that seems legitimate

They sent and offer letter for a debt that seems legitimate. Accessed their offer website https://uoffer.unifinrs.com and the website refused to honor the settlement offer. I reluctantly decided to call them. Immediately, a recorded voice says someone will be with you asap and does not identify the company. Alvris or something along those lines answered. I informed him that I was also recording the call and requested the name of the company. He refused and said he needed to identify who I was first. Again, I requested the company before I would confirm info and work with them. He started listing off my name, last 4 ssn, and personal information WITHOUT identifying me. I stopped him informing him that he was in violation of the FDCPA. I had to do this twice before he allowed me to speak to a supervisor. The supervisor, James, came online and I informed him that I was recording as well. Immediately, James said "We are trained to disconnect the call if you are recording the call." and hung up. I may be mistaken, but under the FDCPA a collector must identify themselves when dealing with a debtor. They did not. I would need to review the FDCPA, but I'm pretty sure releasing personal information without confirming my identity is in violation as well. At this point, I REFUSE to give any information to this company. I refuse to pay what seems like a legitimate debt due to sketchy, illegal practices observed by Unifin, Inc. At this point my debt with them will remain unresolved, which is a shame. I called prepared to accept their settlement to clear my debt, which is still active.

Unifin UNIFIN is illegally attempting to collect on debts voided by the Statute of Limitations due to the [protected] recession

UNIFIN is illegally attempting to collect on debts voided by the Statute of Limitations, which originated from the [protected] recession in both commercial and residential real estate mortgage backed securities. The Statute of Limitations for this type of debt is 4 years in certain jurisdictions. Residents of some states, historically associated with slavery, may face no statute of limitations. UNIFIN's actions to collect these debts, with full knowledge that they are not legally enforceable, constitutes fraud. Regulatory authorities should intervene, penalize UNIFIN, and reward me for exposing this as a whistleblower. The disreputable individual in South Carolina who sold my debt to UNIFIN is also engaging in fraudulent activities, having attempted to collect on it despite knowing it was well beyond the statute of limitations. This person, who once contacted me, revealed his unethical nature during our conversation. He even boasted about his deceptive practices, confirming his lack of morals. This debt continues to be sold to increasingly unscrupulous collection agencies, with UNIFIN being possibly the fourth to purchase it. An acquaintance of mine once acquired credit card debt portfolios for a mere fraction of the total debt. There are numerous accounts of people who, deceived by such scams, paid off these illegitimate debts, only to have their credit further damaged as the debt was resold to yet another fraudulent entity promising to repair their credit. Fortunately, my credit score has recovered to above 810. For those interested in financial fraud, I recommend watching 'The Big Short.'

I received a letter demanding payment from Unifin, a collections agency. I sent the following email to the address provided ([protected]@unifinrs.com) on 6/8 11:40am: "I received a letter attempting to collect $800.54 for J *** LLC, with original creditor listed as P Reference # ***. Please email me debt verification proof immediately." In 15 minutes, Neil B M replied from neil.m***@*** giving me payment options and no other response or proof of debt I requested. I emailed Mr. M back in under a minute: "Please email me debt verification proof immediately. You should be able to do that." No response. I repeated the email 3.5 hours later, adding the original "my account" address. No response. *** (the original debt) has verified that I never owed them a thing. If Unifin agreed to collect this debt, they SURELY have proof that I owe it and they must provide it. This is absolute fraud and they will now try to blame

Settled invoice number (withheld) reference number (withheld) by logging into their website and making an offer which was accepted, I paid and the trade line was removed from credit reports. Not surprisingly this company is back on my credit report today saying I owe them more money. Chatted with someone via the online payment portal who claims I had a payment fail which is a lie since I agreed to two payments which were paid. Never a third and my bank confirms payment dates and amounts. I want this debt cleared and this collection removed from my report.

I have requested a debt validation letter 3 times. Two of these were via their online dispute form and once via a representative over chat. During the chat I was told there was no statute of limitations for debt (wrong), and refused to send me validation of the debt. They stated they were only a collection agency and didn't have that documentation. I took screenshots of the conversation and have those time stamped. I want validation of the debt or discontinuation of collection activities.

Unifin UNIFIN notified me of a supposed debt linked to a company, which has consistently failed to

UNIFIN notified me via US mail about a supposed debt linked to a company, which has consistently failed to validate my debt and never responds, only seeking negotiation. Even if there were a debt from a certain Capital firm, which I dispute owing them or the original creditor BarclayCard/Mercury Card, they have failed to validate my debt with evidence as I've requested for years. Moreover, even without admitting any debt, the Statute of Limitations under the FDCPA indicates a 5-year limit on such debts. Under Florida law, any such debts would be uncollectible. The company violated Federal Law regarding Section 809b of the FDCPA, which includes the unauthorized sharing of my private information. I request the complete removal of this debt from my credit records, along with any related negative marks, and to be notified accordingly.

I just received an email from them in my spam folder out of the blue and I have never even heard of these guys. I have no account with PayPal either so I don't know why they'd be contacting me when it's been about 4 years since I closed my PayPal account. I have never done business with them either.

I was sent an email on Wednesday, 10/12/2022 at 12:31 pm CDT from Unifin, Inc. The message stated that they are a Unifin debt collector and referenced a particular account number. However, I am not in collection for anything. I have never purchased anything from this company nor have I ever used a service from this company. If there is an account associated with my name, please provide me with the details so I can file fraud charges with the appropriate law enforcement agency. Additionally, my name is misspelled in the email.

Unifin sent me an email stating I owe $255.58 due to an outstanding debt. However, when I contacted the company in question, they did not have any debt listed under my name. The only card they have on file for me has never been used. Unifin provided a reference number and mentioned a current creditor account number as well as an original account number, but these details did not match any information held by the company.

Unifin I received a notice re: debt collection from a debt I think I had from THE *** from 5/25 of which I had forgotten about

I received a notice re: debt collection from a debt I think I had from THE *** from 5/25 of which I had forgotten about...in the amount of $303.71 ...the other day I received this notice and not sure if it's a real collection agency since this debt is very old (can they collect a debt from 12 years ago?) I called and first negotiated an amount they offered and then asked "Jessica" if I could get further documentation since they did not include the actual bill and evidence I need to confirm that they are for real. She said ok but that could mean that I would not be able to pay back the lowest negotiated amount. I asked her name, she was trying to avoid giving that to me. I persisted and she said Jessica. Then when I asked her her last name she hung up on me. This of course makes me even more skeptical and as I'm writing this I'm wondering if it's even legal to come after me for a debt that's over 12 years old. Please help me resolve this as I do not want to get scammed...Thank you in advance for your help. Yvonne D

Windstream opened and closed their doors within a very short period, less than six months. While they were active in the community, I did utilize and pay for their services. Upon their closure, I was compelled to find service from another provider. I have never been contacted by the company since then, and as such, I do not acknowledge any outstanding debt to them. I request that my account be considered closed, with no further settlements or demands.

Unifin This company sent a letter asking for a settlement of a past debt, totaling $8,847.70 or other discounted payment options toward this debt

This company sent a letter asking for a settlement of a past debt, totaling $8,847.70 or other discounted payment options toward this debt. First of all, I have no knowledge of this debt, and will not be contacting them to discuss it, let alone offer any type of payment arrangement. Secondly, this correspondence was sent to a neighbor, who brought it to me because they thought it was mine. I believe the address used, came from a retail company who sent a catalog to this person's address with my name on it. This puts my neighbor in a position to invade my privacy, by seeing and handling mail that was not theirs. Also, this company uses scare tactics and threatening language to collect debts such as, "If you do not respond within 30 days, it will be assumed this debt is valid". Well, there will be no response from me, except this one, and they should stop trying to get money from people by using random addresses and unfounded information. I am demanded that any and all communication from this company cease regarding this issue.

I was sent an email on 9/6/22 from Unifin, Inc. indicating their attempts to reach me regarding a debt they claim I owe from VIASAT amounting to $555.93. The communication included references to a UNIFIN account and a creditor account number. However, I have never made any purchases from this company, nor have I utilized any of their services. Additionally, they have misspelled my first name.

Unifin Found a collection on my credit report from an unnamed agency

Upon reviewing my credit report, I identified a collection from an unspecified agency. I called the listed number and an automated message directed me to contact an external service provider. When I reached out, the representative revealed they were from Unifin. The first representative disconnected when I couldn't provide an account number. On a second call, another representative failed to validate the debt listed on my report, allegedly from a wireless provider, amounting to $147. Despite requesting a debt validation letter thrice, she then referenced another unlisted debt but refused to elaborate. I insisted on a validation letter for this mysterious debt, but she hung up. Resolving this is baffling, especially since the supposed debt from the wireless provider was an error settled years ago, and the collection period has lapsed, dating back nine years.

Unifin On Sept 26th, 2021, I initiated a payment plan for a debt in collections from Unifin

On Sept 26th, 2021, I initiated a payment plan for a debt in collections I received from Unifin. I agreed to a three-monthly payment installment on an agreed-upon payoff of the debt of $360.00. I was told that I would get a letter confirming the payments, but I never did. It was only because I remembered the payment dates that I logged back into my account to make the second payment that I saw in the account summary that the first payment wasn't even reflected as paid. My bank account shows a payment made towards the company. I was assisted by support one day before the next payment was due and was told that I would receive an email and a request would be put in for me to get documentation. An email was never sent. Emails take seconds to send. No change in my account was made. On the day the payment was due, I tried to contact support again. I was passed to four different people without a response from anyone. This business is unacceptable. I am eager to pay my debt. It seems like they don't want people to pay off their debts. I just need confirmation of the agreed payments and the total amount owed. It isn't even reflecting on my credit report.

Unifin Received letter about a debt claim from an unrecognized company

Received a letter dated January 24, 2022, on February 9, 2022, regarding a reference number stating an account from an unspecified source with an account number, now owed to CACH LLC for $3,164.86 dating 5/2. I do not know of such a company or debt. This so-called debt is dated 8 years ago. This letter is in response to your letter dated January 24, 2022, RECEIVED February 9, 2022, concerning the above-referenced account number. After checking with my state attorney general and having confirmed that the statute of limitations on this type of debt has expired and is no longer valid. Therefore, if you choose to pursue this matter in ANY FORM, You will be forced to admit that the statute of limitations has expired and the referenced debt is time-barred. Let this letter serve as notification that I do not wish to be contacted about this debt any further except to be notified that it is terminated. Any other communication regarding this debt will be taken as a violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, in addition to all APPLICABLE Federal and State laws. All communication about the account number must be in writing OR ON THIS SITE, and unless it is about termination of the debt, must obey a cease and desist.

Unifin Complaint Regarding Unifin Reference Number

I received a letter stating that I was referred to collections for an account I am not aware of, which is not on my credit report and allegedly became delinquent 9 years ago. I am disputing this defamatory, reckless, and harassing claim that has caused me emotional distress. I do not recognize the debt they are referring to, and it is outside of the statute of limitations, both State and Federal. I fear this institution will report a debt that does not belong to me, damaging my high credit score. I am contacting legal counsel and will seek restitution and compensation for any damage to my credit, undue stress, pain, and suffering if my credit history is affected. I will also report this to regulatory agencies for potential FCRA, FDCPA non-compliance. The claim is false, borderline slanderous, and predatory as they attempt to collect for an unverified debt.

Unifin Talking about I owe some money

Talking about I owe some money. According to the letter they are attempting to collect on a time barred debt. Its past state and federal government collection statutes. States it in the letter. Im no rocket scientist here Im reading complaints on here as well. This company is trying to collect on debts that are time barred and sending letters and making phone calls. Well my complaint is, this was charged off, I actually have the paperwork for it, how did that happen? Bankruptcy I filed, of course they would not have that information because they are trying to collect on old debts that are time barred that they dont have any rights to do so. They are also hiding behind they can do it. Sure you can you can send a letter asking for such payment from a person or peoples who never paid and it was charged off. But if they contact you, you pretty much have to stop contacting them. Me on the other hand, you cannot contact me. Its against the law, I followed the law in my bankruptcy case. I currently in the process of serving this company with a lawsuit. On top of trying to collect on a debt that was charged off in a bankruptcy, my name is also copy written. Cease and desist letter is on the way. A copy of my fee schedule and *** to them for copyright infringement is also on its way. Im taking Legal action on this company *** has many laws against Debit collectors like this.

Unifin I found a collection on my credit report from an unnamed agency

I recently checked my credit report and found a collection entry from an unnamed agency. I have not been notified about this supposed debt. On June 2, I contacted the company by phone and provided my social security number to their automated system. The system informed me that my account was managed by an external service provider and redirected me to another number. A representative claimed I owed $297 from a five-year-old wireless service bill and identified their company as 'Unifin.' They alleged to have sent notices and made calls, but they had an incorrect address for me. The representative refused to provide further details over the phone. When I called back to confirm the company's name, they were unable to disclose it. Moreover, 'Unifin' is not a registered agent in Oregon. They reported the collection to credit agencies without prior contact with me, which is a violation of consumer protection laws. I have requested that the company verify several pieces of information regarding the account, including the full original account number, the date the account was opened, any written agreements confirming the debt, a detailed account summary, the date of the first delinquency, and records of any contact attempts before reporting the debt. If the company cannot provide this information, the account should be removed from all credit reporting agencies.

Unifin Company engaged by a client to recover a debt initially held by Unifin settled for $2669.67

This company was engaged by a client to recover a debt initially held by Unifin, and I agreed to a settlement amount of $2669.67. This occurred in February. On March 13, I obtained a Cashier's check for that amount, mailed it to Unifin, which they received on March 19th and deposited on March 20th. The check cleared on March 30th. In early April, I contacted Unifin for a receipt update, as I hadn't received any confirmation of settlement. They incorrectly claimed the check bounced and was shredded. I questioned how they could shred a Cashier's check, which, as a prepaid instrument, should not bounce. Despite their claims, they did not notify me of any issue, which was inconsistent with their previous diligence in debt collection attempts. After insisting Cashier's checks don't bounce, they promised to investigate and call back. Following their inconclusive response, I consulted my bank, which informed me of an unsuccessful ACH debit attempt on the check, but confirmed it had cleared on March 30th, providing written evidence. Despite this, Unifin denied the clearance, even though the check was endorsed for deposit only, as per the evidence from my bank. To date, Unifin has not provided a resolution. I suggest reviewing the recorded calls for clarification.

Unifin I dont know if, Unifininc, is collecting on behalf of CK Prime or if theyre the newest obtainer of this debt

I dont know if, Unifininc, is collecting on behalf of CK Prime or if theyre the newest obtainer of this debt. I am filling this a long with a dispute, I filed yesterday for CK Prime. CK Prime is on my credit and still listed as the creditor of this account. I am the victim of ID theft. I dealt directly with the *** and opened a dispute with them. I had made a huge payment to them when my wallet had been stolen. After it was stolen I closed the account. At some point, a *** surfaced. I requested copies of my statements and proof that I actually made the charges. I filed a report with the *** and sent all applicable information to ***. including proof that my *** was connected to a fraudulent Amazon account that was not mine. I have disputed this through the collection agencies on multiple occasions. They denied the disputes and claim it is accurately being reported. Its not accurate information. Im telling you that I dont believe I made the charges and request proof, that I never received including a statement, so I know, what the charges are. I dont care if *** says the information is accurate- they are biased. They never investigated because, even though, I was a victim of ID theft and requested this account to be closed *** allowed someone, who was not myself, to re-open the account- allowing it to be defrauded. I know that because a *** themselves, offered me that information when I called. I was told there was a recorded call and it was a man on the phone obviously, not myself (a female) requesting that the account be reopened, and it was. The Supervisor, went on to tell me that she had made sure our call hadnt been recorded to avoid reprisal and the recording disappearing. She advised me to stand firm against, ***, as it wasnt the first time she had seen this transpire. And, that the phone reps do not care and often give out misinformation and sensitive information without using safeguards.

Unifin I was contacted by a company to settle a debt through a payment plan

I was contacted by a company to settle a debt. I received a letter in the mail offering a settlement amount to clear the account, and I had saved funds to pay off my debt. When I called on January 16, to pay the full amount offered on my debit card, I inquired if it would be reported to the credit bureau. The representative confirmed it would be. I asked about the reporting timeline, and he indicated it should be within 30 days. Time passed, exceeding the 30 days, and upon follow-up, another employee, possibly named Corey, informed me the account would not be reported. I requested a review of the recorded calls to verify the initial information given, as building my credit is crucial for me, especially after a separation and with a young child. I am working towards buying a home and have paid my debts after saving the necessary funds. Being misled about the reporting to the credit bureau for the sake of payment is unethical. Despite the time it took, I fulfilled my payment obligation. It's unacceptable to be told one thing about credit reporting and then have it dismissed. I have the payment receipt to UNIFIN and an unanswered email query about the lack of reporting. Repeated calls were needed to get a clear answer that it would not be reported, contrary to previous assurances. Additionally, I received a bill in February implying an outstanding balance, which prompted another email about the account status, also ignored. Only after another call did the company confirm there was no balance due.
