GameStop - horrible manager and customer service!

When: Feb 15, 2011

The people, particularly the manager, IGNACIO, are very unprofessional and could care less.

I had Dragon Quest VI preordered(Reserve pickup:22089) as a gift and went to pick it up with my brother(giftee). The manager was there and eventually got me my game.I then asked for the preorder bonus item - a Slime plush.

He furrowed his brow so I described it to him without a problem.''Oh!''He said and went to supposedly look in the backroom. After he came back, he said, ''Haha.Sorry, looks like we threw them out.'' and slided the game over the counter to me saying, ''Well, you came for this though right?Bye.''

I was waiting for him to say he was joking and come out with the plush. He wasn't. I was just in shock, and asked, ''How can they just be thrown away?'' He came out with a bogus excuse that the 'one' doing shipment is really 'anal' and so they throw away small things like that if they don't know what it's for. What IS that? He didn't seem to care and be the least bit sorry about it.

Once my mother caught wind of this, she came back to the store and asked how can he just say something like that? I preordered the item ahead of time, and went to pick it up THE DAY THEY GOT IT only for him to tell me that? He was very rude to my mom, saying that it's ridiculous to be 'upset' for just a plush.

He then went on to turn things around by saying that they were LIMITED anyways and that she could call corporate if she wants because they'll just tell her the same thing. As if that were the case, he just said that they 'threw' away the bonus items and ON the day that they received shipment too supposedly.

The whole situation was LUDACRIS, it wasn't really the plush as it was the very poor customer service we received.

When my mom asked him for the district manager's number, he pretended as if he didn't hear her. He didn't give her the number and kept on talking. She told him that she was listening to everything, that she was going to complain. It didn't faze him at all because he was smug and felt that we couldn't do anything. We will never order from there again because what he is doing is an injustice and frankly, I believe that he doesn't deserve the job that he has now.

And this saddens me because I'm a very loyal customer from Gamestop.I love to purchase and order from the store.I've bought from the other surrounding ones like in Westland Mall and they were great. They actually ackknowledge you, smile, and seem to enjoy what they do. Sadly I expected the same from this gamestop, where I've bought in the past, only to be extremely dissapointed with the outcome.

He just treated my brother and I like idiots..as if we wouldn't know better.Just the whole situation felt shady. You never know, the manager probably pockets the bonus items. He seems to think he could get away with his poor behavior since the people here are mostly unknowing of these things.

My mother, who is also a store manager, called corporate before yesterday to file a complaint and get a hold of the district manager. Her phone number doesn't seem to be working though so they said that they left her a message for us.We haven't heard from her as of yet.

Thank you very much for your undivided attention.

Wow, so I make a mistake in my spelling.I'M SORRY!
There you go!Happy?
Ludicrous:(adj.) absurd; ridiculous; crazy

If anyone is an idiot, it's you ###. You sound as anal and blockheaded as that manager. What kind of logic do you people have? My spelling is not the point nor is the freebie. YOU DON'T THROW OUT MERCHANDISE THAT ARE FOR CUSTOMERS.
If they ran out, FINE. But to say 'Whoops!'' and unknowingly throw something away is bull.Plain and simple. A [censored] like you says 'Just because it's a freebie' makes what he did acceptable? He might as well as thrown my game away and have told me the same.

YES it is bad customer service because:
1) He threw away items intended and guaranteed for customers.
2) He didn't give a ###, bothered saying that to a CUSTOMER, and did not care to resolve the issue at hand.

I'm not sure why I'm bothering here because people like you are the reason sites like these exist.

I suggest you get your head out of your ### before opening your ignorant mouth where it's not wanted.:/

I bet you're some butt hurt ex-gamestop employee lurking around here to release some of your pitiful anger.LOL.

The thing you seem to have missed is that Gamestop uses these freebies in order to entice people into preordering their games there. If they can't follow through on the promise of that freebie then they shouldn't offer them, or at the very least should make it clear when you preorder that you're not ensured the pre-order bonus due to limited availability. They never do that though. No matter how limited the quantities may be, they continue to push these pre-order bonuses on each and every customer who pre-orders a given title as if they can in fact just ### them out upon request. That's shady business through-and-through.

Unless this manager is a totally inept [censored], he should have been aware of the bonus. I'm sure that he told plenty of people about it when they preordered the game. He also probably should know better as a manager than to leave shipments to be handled by a ### who throws away ### without maybe checking in to why they received it. Assuming of course that they didn't in fact just get plucked by the clerks. His attitude sucks, his excuses are thin and flimsy. You were right to complain. Thanks for the head's-up.

You would be surprised what they throw away at gamestop, and your preorder bounus would have only been there for 48 hours just like the pre-order itself, though im sure you know this since your a loyal customer to gamestop. It is a shame that it was bad custiomer service but they do throw away the craziest things in the store and that is company policy since items that are free or "Penny" out get thrown away

"The whole situation was [ludicrous], it wasn't really the plush as it was the very poor customer service we received. "

Yes. I understand that. It's hard trying to convey that 'feeling' in a complaint isn't it? [The nuances, the subtle ignoring of you, the tone of impatience or apathy...]

In the presence of a manager who would have listened and 'tried' to make it all okay, it sounds like - from what I am hearing - that this manager just did not have the time for you; A customer. What I would do is what is already happening... Call over his head.
