Crunch Fitness - membership

During their promo in April my son asked to sign up at the lake Nona location. He said you could do it online, which I checked and you could, however I am no an online consumer! Anyway I gave a call to the location and spoke with Matt the manager ( if you can call him that) he was very pleasant on the phone and answered all of my questions. Which I asked repeatedly! My main question was about cancelling as I've been caught out before repeatedly he told me that I could cancel at anytime with no fees due.

I signed up my whole family online. Since I was happy with the conversation I had with Matt.

My husband went about 10 days later did not like it and told them his reasons why, rude staff, too noisy and tbh too far to drive with the crazy traffic. Matt cancelled his account there and then. No payments were processed after that.

I went in a couple of weeks later to cancel everyone else's as it was not working out for us. My kids need transport to go, since their dad was no longer going it was not working due to my schedule etc. i spoke with a young man who said I had not had the membership for the minimum amount of time and therefore could not cancel. I told him I was not aware of what he was talking about and told jimmy conversation with Matt. He said Matt was out to lunch did I want to wait, I did not so he called Matt on the phone. He proceeded to tell him about me and my conversation with him and Matt agreed to cancel them. All this was done whilst at the desk with the same young man trying to check in, answer questions, give back licenses to those who were guests and more. It took a while to get it all done but it was.

Come the following month I see 3 charges for the membership and 3 charges for the annual fee, this was for me, my son and daughter. I called only to be told by Matt that he would never have said I could cancel at any time nor would he have told the staff member who called that I could cancel. He said he was not able to cancel as I had a legal binding document with the state of Florida! Wrong, there is a legal binding document with crunch which the state recognizes as such I the event I don't hold up my contract side. I understand this but I took him for his word and didn't read the whole document, which I know I should have but I'm all honesty how many of us read all the small print we see daily.

Anyway point is I went by his word which he gave and then changed to suit himself. Crunch staff seem to do whatever it takes to get the business even if it means lying to you to do so. I wonder if this is part of their training and condoned by crunch. Very sad indeed.

I work hard have a son who's meds cost $250 per month for life and I can't afford to throw money down the drain but it seems I have to which I am hoping you will be able to help with.

I realize contracts have been signed but they can also be broken at your discretion as it is only crunch that is benefitting from them.

I hope you see the er in your ways and make this right.
