On Friday, May 7, 2022, I was subjected to the WORST customer service in my life at the Popeye's located at 2825 N Military Trail, West Palm Beach, FL 33409. I was treated so poorly that I seriously considered filing a police complaint for verbal assault.
The incident began when after literally waiting 45 minutes at the drive-thru for just 3 cars ahead of me, I ordered a 10-piece chicken-only and specifically requested no thighs. When the drive-thru attendant asked me to repeat my order, I repeated the same order emphasizing “no thighs please”. When the attendant told me to drive to the window, I said “thank you and remember, no thighs please.”
When I arrived at the drive-thru window, a lady at the window told me that they only have legs (drumsticks) and thighs available. Shocked by this, I asked how long would I have to wait for more chicken to become available and why wasn’t I told they only had legs and thighs when I placed the order. The lady at the window then walked away to be replaced by a young black man who evidently had taken my order. He began by asking “what’s my problem”. After I asked what did he mean he repeated his question, “what is my problem”. Deciding not to get angry by his rudeness, I repeated my order for chicken emphasizing that I was not told they only had legs and thighs. I also mentioned that I had been in the drive-thru line for 45 minutes and that I had specifically asked for no thighs. The young man then said to me “no you didn’t”. I answered that I certainly did ask for no thighs at which he again said “no you didn’t”. This literally happened four times before I said in anger “I know what I said. Quit questioning what I said.” The young man responded “[censored] you [censored]” and I mistakenly responded “[censored] you back”, at which point the young man charged towards the window as if he meant to do me harm and causing me to react by pulling away from my car window. At this point, the manager pulled the young man away from the window, saying “what did I tell you about this?”, as if to console him from an out-of-control customer but clearly indicating that this was not his first time exhibiting such intolerable behavior. I watched in disbelief as the manager held his arms around the young man attempting to calm him down before escorting him away from sight and wondered how the customers inside the store must have been equally shocked by this worker’s behavior. At that time, the first lady returned to the window repeating that they only have legs and thighs and asking what I’d like to do. I again asked how long must I wait for more chicken at which time the manager returned to the window telling me I would not be served and insisted I drive on. I drove away in disbelief but gave thought to parking and calling the police because the incident was sufficiently threatening to warrant their involvement. I decided that I’ve no interest in punishing the young man, as he’s clearly mentally disturbed beyond help, but instead would retaliate by posting this complaint blaming the manager for intolerably poor management both in terms of delivering food to the customer as advertised and his judgement in employee hiring. pondered why businesses managed by blacks believe it okay to disrespect and mistreat black customers and lamented how I was likely not the first who was racially disparaged by both worker and management at this location.
Suffice it to say, I’ll never patronize another Popeyes no matter the location. I request a corporate investigation of this incident, including the employee who verbally assaulted me and the inept manager who was complicit in such behavior. I also request that Popeyes conspicuously observe the subject location over a period of days and take appropriate action to restore professionalism and customer service commensurate with corporate expectations, including the termination of ill-mannered employees and inept managers.
Should you have any questions on this incident, please let me know.
Never-again customer

Popeyes - Service
Called in an order through your app. When I went to the store to pick up order, door was locked and a sign on the door said due to short staff I needed to go thru drive up. 15 cars in drive up (usually takes 3 to 5 minutes per car) so I walk around to pick up window passing an employee smoking outside that confronted me saying I had to go thru drive up. I said I just want to pick up order placed on line and that I was not going to wait in line. Needless to say I am pissed at this point. They would not give me the food I payed for and was told to leave or we will call the police. I have been to this store 2825 military trail West Palm Beach Fl. 4 or 5 times over the last few months and the service has been average to poor every time. NEVER WILL I GO TO POPEYES AGAIN.
