On Monday, September 2, 2019, client made a reservation on line for two (senior) adults at the Ramada Inn at Warner Robins, GA for the evening of Tuesday, September 3, 2019. Client then called the hotel in Warner Robins to inquire about the need for accommodations on either the first floor, or to determine that an elevator would be on site, as client's husband is physically handicapped, uses a wheechair, and cannot climb stairs. Client was told that no elevator was on premises, and that the room reserved on line was a 2nd. floor room. Client requested change, and was told that more rooms were expected to become available the next morning, and the client was advised to call the hotel again in the morning for confirmation. Client did call the next morning, spoke to an employee and was told that probably "about 6" rooms on the first floor would be available by check in time that afternoon.
When client and husband arrived at hotel around 5 pm on 9/3/19, client was told that, despite client's reservation, no rooms on the first floor were available. Since client's husband is physically unable to climb stairs, it was not possible for us to stay at the hotel. Clerk at desk suggested that client "try next door" at another hotel, but due to evacuees from Hurricane Dorian, the Southern Georgia area was experiencing heavy traffic, and rooms were widely unavailable. Client and husband managed to (independently) find a Ramada hotel in Perry, GA (approximately 30 miles south of Warner Robins) which had availability on the first floor. We immediately booked this room on the phone and were able to stay that night in Perry, GA at the Ramada .
Taking into account that rooms were in short supply over the Labor Day Weekend and also due to the hurricane, I would have assumed that finding satisfactory lodging at that time would have been challenging. My complaint is that, having made reservations, having been led to believe that a first floor room would be available, and having driven 8+ hours from Knoxville, TN that day, it was very frustrating to have no room available which minimally suited our need for first floor accommodations. We consider ourselves fortunate to have found availability in Perry, GA, but feel that the reservation system which failed to provide us a room as reserved should be reviewed and improved where necessary.
Thank you for your attention to our concerns.
