I went to Aspen Dental in Richmond, IN to see about their visiting endodontist to do a root canal. They took 2D x-rays & the office gentleman told me what the procedure would cost. I paid that & planned to be in the office in a little over a week to have the root canal done.
A few days before the procedure, I noticed through my online account that it said my next visit was for exam & x-rays. I called the office & said that those things were already done & it should be a root canal visit. They proceeded to tell me that the office gentleman from my previous visit, coded my next visit incorrectly.
I went in for my root canal on 11/7/22 & had to pay ANOTHER (almost) 500.00 because said office gentleman coded wrong, when indeed my visit said for a root canal. The bigger charge came from them needing to do a 3D x-ray as they couldn't see the previous 2D x-ray. Really? That's a lot of money for issues that Aspen was clearly responsible for.
*The ONLY good thing that came from my visit yesterday was the endodontist, Dr. Mannan & his hygienist assistant. As I am highly anxious for dental visits, they played music for my nerves to calm & they were both very professional & quick*.
Desired outcome: I believe that I should get a refund on part of the x-rays and their coding mistake.
Aspen Dental - Deep cleaning
I was pressured into a deep cleaning in 2013. I was not informed that, as a result, I must repeat this procedure every 3 months, at the rate of $600 each time! I am a cash paying patient with no coverage! I couldn't afford that! This past week, I was forced to call for extraction of a wisdom tooth. After many xrays, I was told I now, suddenly, have severe bone loss, due to not keeping up with my deep cleanings. You see, my gums never grew shut again and bacteria has become deeply embedded and caused severe bone damage. Guess how much a deep clean would cost me now? $1, 350.00! Then, of course, I would have to do it every 3 months afterward... Forever. I was also told I should just pull all of my top teeth and get a top plate because my back teeth may begin hurting one day. What? I never would've agreed to the deep cleaning if someone would've explained to me (1) how expensive it would be, as I cannot afford it, (2) that my gums would never close-up, thereby allowing food particles and bacteria to cause major damage to my teeth, gums and bones, and, (3) that it was not necessary! I never had these issues before the deep clean. I'm stuck now with quickly deteriorating bones that will not support my teeth much longer. I also asked if I could get my partial re-lined and just get some general maintenance done on it, as I need it to last.
While the dentist said, "no, you need a new one," I subsequently, asked the office manager what it would cost to get it re-lined, and he gave me a price! Ugh! I was bullied in every sense of the word!
