JC Penney - customer service at your jefferson mall store 4803 outer loop rd louisville ky 40219

Hello, my name is Diane, and my fiancé and I were returning a Christmas gift on December the 26th, to the Jefferson Mall, JC Penney, that our daughter had purchased for her dad. She bought him a pair of Nike sweats, originally $55, but she got them on sale for $43. We approached the register after finding some men gloves he wanted instead; we explained to the cashier what we wanted to do, and he told us that without a receipt he could not return the sweats. That caught us by surprise, because, you normally don't need a receipt to return a Christmas gift. I explained that I've worked in retail, and that we never refused a customer the option to exchange a gift for something else because they did not have a receipt. He called his manager of the men's department, and she concurred with his assessment of the situation. She said she could only give us $10 of the $43 our daughter paid for her dad's Christmas gift. We accepted her offer because we were not looking to get a refund, he wanted to get the gloves, which we had to pay an additional $6 to purchase. As we were leaving, I expressed to her that the customer service was horrible. He also received a Nike jacket our daughter purchased from Dillard's; that was to small, and we went to Dillard's and with same scenario, exchanging for something else, no receipt, and once we found what we wanted to exchanged, we were done in five minutes. That was the type of customer service we were use to at JCPenneys, but for some reason it seems as if customer service is not a priority. I hope that this e-mail will spare another customer of having to go through, what is already a hassle to return gifts. Please reply to my e-mail, [protected]@twc.com. Thank you
