Hi,
I’m making a complaint for poor mechanic work and incorrect repairs. I want to be reimbursed for my service or have my car serviced at another store per complimentary.
I made an appointment for a diagnostic test on my car's exhaust system at Meineke Car Care on Preston Hwy. (Appointment documentation available). I waited on the vehicle at the shop until 10 a.m. I was quoted with numerous diagnostics on my car's axles, strut, coolant, oil filtration, along with the exhaust. I did not ask for those services, yet they deemed my car in poor condition and those repairs would be vital to replace. A Meineke credit card was open to cover the cost of such repairs because they totaled $1,700.
Since then I have visited this Meineke location four times under the reassurance from the manager that my car will be looked at to understand why my cars “slip” (traction control) light, “battery” light, “brake” lights persistently stays on or flickers when I drive. In addition to these lights displaying, my car will stall or idle while driving. I have been in the position of my car idling during rush hour traffic (3pm-5pm) and on interstate 65 north during morning traffic (7am-8am). My car has never had turn-over, ignition, engine, transmission problems all until I visited this location for a diagnostic on my exhaust leak replacement.
Transpired events:
7/5/2023: my car was emitting white smoke from the engine bay when in park and could smell fumes while driving. I assumed it was an oil spill and parked my Car from 7-5 evening until taking it to the meineke shop Friday to get looked at. I ended up having to leave it because they were busy.
7/8/2023: Let it be noted that they had my car running for 45 mins before I came to pick it up and They already had my car started when I showed up. I only made it 0.10 miles to the Sam's Club on Preston Hwy, my car would not start (brake lights, dashboard, and windows all worked). Triple A (AAA Auto Club) had to come jump my car, it started only to drive less than 100 feet and had engine stall issues, my car would not accelerate, and had to roll to a safe place in the parking g lot. I had to purchase another new battery that Triple A installed while pointing out the acts of ground terminal connectors and cables loose on my battery and the Not asked for aftermarket fuse device installed on my battery.
7/1/23: Initial car repair day
7/8/23: Saturday - pick up overnight car fix on diagnostic ground of the white smoke.
7/11/23: took the car to shop cause the car would not start that morning, left it there to pick up after work.
7/12/23: car stalls in the morning while merging onto highway (same issue as Saturday)
The ultimate issue I have is the manager telling me my car is okay, everything fixed for it to stall and not start for me. When I asked for it to be looked at, I was told that it was inspected but only to have to keep taking it back. I have reason to believe they aren’t even looking at my car. I am unhappy with my service and regret coming to this shop and having this fix on my car in the first place. I could’ve happily given my $1700 to another shop for peace of mind.
All documents from my phone apps tracking my location confirming I busted these locations on the days, the CCTV/Cameras outside the shop showing when my car was parked, Phone call records of when I contacted the store, and documentation from the Triple A Visit can be accounted for.
Desired outcome: I would like reimbursement for the payment i made on the Meinke Credit card. They had four times to do on 4 separate overnight visits before I wrote all these complaints, i'll take my money elsewhere.
