Last year while visiting PetCo in Pikeville, Ky., at checkout, I was approached by the cashier about their VitalCare program. I was told about all the benefits I would receive. I was told how much it would cost. I agreed, and then she showed some forms on the small screen saying I just consented to starting the program. At no time was I told I could not cancel my subscription for a year. Around September 2022 I fell on hard times, in addition, I received zero benefits from the program. I got online to cancel my subscription but there was no where I could. My subscription is up in July according to their website and it did let me choose not to renew it. Since September I have made numerous phone calls requesting to cancel my subscription. Each time I have been told no, I agreed to a yearly membership, and each time I have asked them to email my forms with my signature consenting to this. To date I still have not received a cancellation or my signed consent. In February 2023 my card on file expired and was sent an email to update my account. I decided this would be my opportunity to stop this fraud. However, they charged my card for February, March, and April. I called my bank in February to see how this was done. They informed me Petco searched the bank database and obtained my new information and ran it without my consent. They transferred me to fraud department. According to my banks fraud department, they receive daily complaints on the same issue. They informed me the only ramifications I had was to cancel my card all together and obtain a new one. While this seems like a simple task, it is not, I have many things attached to my bank hard and it would cause significant work and stress to do this. I feel like what Petco is doing is a scam, and after much research, others have had the same complaints of not being informed of a year obligation without cancellation. Had this been explained I would have never agreed to it.
Desired outcome: The service to be cancelled and a copy of my signed consent. If they are not able to produce this, I expect a full refund of September thru April's month charge of 21.19/month totaling 169.52.
