Optimum - overcharging

I have been a Cablevision subscriber for 14 years. I have selected the Silver package. I reviewed my bill recently along with the details of the Silver package and discovered that HBO on Demand, Showtime, and Showtime on Demand are included in the Silver package. I also noted that I had been paying extra for those services as when I signed up for the Silver package they were not included. When I contacted Cablevision (Jan in customer service) I was told that a few months ago (she would not tell me when exactly so it could be years) that those services were added to the Silver package. When I asked her why then was I being charged for them as well, she said it was not up to the company to advise the customer or adjust the bill. She proceeded to tell me that some people wanted to keep it that way. It was then that my head exploded. Though I kept my cool I was flabbergasted. I told her that was ridiculous. That I think I am entitled to a refund for all those months. She said sorry that cannot be done. I then asked for a supervisor.

Nicholas was then on the phone and he heard my problem and put me on hold. When he came back he told me that he could give me 1 month credit (21.85) but no more. He only gave this to me because I was a long time customer and a good payer. Yes my bill is approximately $200 per month (including the extra $21.85) and I pay each and every month.

The problem is that Cablevision has ripped me off for 21.85 per month for how many months (or years). Yes I am also at fault because I did not review the details of the package every month and compare it to my bill (a bit of a joke here). But I cannot be the only person this is happening to. Cablevision is forcing boxes on all TV and charging $6.95 per box, the service is expensive as it is without being overcharged. Please review the cable bill and the packages. I feel ripped off and I know am not alone.

I have been a subscriber for many years. I have all three (telephone, tv and internet). I have been very happy with my service. I might be one of the lucky ones. I watch HGTV and the Food Network often. I can not believe they can't come to an agreement. I maybe looking into another service.

Lucky you got a credit for something that wasn't the company fault. Any change to services (including a change to silver)...would've been published a month or two beforehand on the right hand side by the charges...y'know...where it says: IMPORTANT NEWS & INFORMATION...what...did you think that's always been there as some sort of joke?

Next time...read your bill.

Packages constantly get upgraded, ch's get realigned (think of it like version 1, 2, etc.). You REALLY want the company to just make all these changes for you? What about the customers who dont want that...who like the way it is? (albeit paying more in some cases...but they're too dim witted to understand normal logic) Or let me guess...on top of sending the notice in the bill (which you didnt read) you want them to call you with every miserable detail of every miniscule change? They have millions of customers...so im sure that plan will work JUST FINE!

Last but not least...every company now requires you to have equipment genius...get with the program or watch paint dry. You get the box free for a while so stop complanining

I am fed up with Cablevision and their explanation of what is going on. Last year I lost over 12 channels when the switch to digital came. Cablevision ran a test and said if you can see your channels on a certain day, then you would have no problem when the digital switch came last February. Well they LIED! I lost more than 12 channels and when I called to complain, I was told that I would have to subscribe to IO TV in order to view the channels I lost. I told them that I could not afford to pay anymore for cable TV and there was no response.
I find it interesting how quickly Cablevision is basically saying how GREEDY Scripps is, but when I lost over 12 channels last February, CABLEVISION DID NOT lower my bill to make up for the loss. My bill remained the same. Talk about greed.
I also find it interesting that Time Warner, Directv and Dish Network have Food Network and HGTV available for viewing but not Cablevision. Cablevision has said that Time Warner, Directv and Dish Network are not being asked for the same amount of increase. I asked Cablevision what they did to piss off Scripps and they have now stopped answering any of my questions. They simply do not respond to any correspondence. I must have hit a nerve.
Now I will go to my town hall and complain and see if they do anything about the situation.

I'VE BEEN A CABLEVISION CUSTOMER WITH ALL 3 SERVICES I PAY FOR MYSELF AND PARENTS. I 'LL DEFINITELY LOOK INTO OTHER ALTERNATIVES . THE FOOD NETWORK HAS HELPED MYSELF, GROUPS OF FRIENDS AND FAMILY MEMBERS WITH MANY MEALS AND KEPT MARRIAGE TOGETHER FOR MANY YEARS NOW! WHAT A WAY TO START OFF A NEW YEAR WITH THIS VERY UPSETTING NEWS. I LOOKED FOR THE FOOD NETWORK LAST NIGHT AND IT WAS NO WHERE TO BE FOUND!
I'LL WAIT TO SEE WHERE THEY WILL LAND AND THAT'S WHERE WE'LL LAND.
CABLEVISION YOUR MESSING WITH PEOPLE LIVES NOW!

As a Cablevision customer, I am highly disappointed about the removal of the HGTV and Food Network channels. I am an avid fan of both channels, and this sudden change is outrageous. There was not even an appropriate warning about this- I only found out when I scanned through the television and it read "No Data Available" on both channels. I am hoping the Scripps and Cablevision quarrel can be sorted out. Until then, I will continue to complain!
