Walgreens - ethical violation of the oath of the pharmacist

DOB: 04-17-1982
NAME: Benjamin Alarcon

This is in regards to the Walgreens on 7599 West Lake Mead, Las Vegas Nevada, 89128. Today is Sunday October 13th, 2019 and this incident took place around 4 to 5 p.m.

I requested a refill from my Walgreen's app as I saw that I did indeed have one last remaining refill on Albuterol /ventolin prescription. After 6 hours with no update, I called the pharmacy. The original Tech was very understanding and explained to me that the original prescription had expired despite there being one last refill. He then informed me that I could speak to the pharmacist and she could request a refill. He put me on hold and my call was disconnected.

I called back twice more and was hung up on. I'm used to very abrupt and rude behavior during the day, from this location, especially when they are busy. Called back and was transferred me to two different pharmacy techs who both informed me, that the pharmacist denied my request. I was placed on hold and hung up on. Finally I spoke to a pharmacy tech who transferred me directly to the pharmacist.

She informed me that she could not refill my prescription. I asked her if this was conflicting with the oath of the Pharmacist. She told me to go to the emergency room as the previous Tech had suggested. I find this extremely troubling considering that I am not requesting a refill on a controlled substance. I've also had an outstanding pharmacist in the past, from a Walgreens at a different location, with 0 refills left unbeknownst to me) override, all in the course of 20 minutes as they could see I was in distress.

I know that this complaint will not make a difference and that I am just a number to this company, however this is extremely disappointing. Not only does it seem as though she can't be bothered with whatever required procedures or paperwork involved (as she was very impatient) but to me this is very unethical and disrespectful considering the exorbitant cost of emergency room visits for a simple inhaler. Not to mention, I am currently having difficulty breathing...

I just feel we can do better as human beings. Thank you for your time and consideration.
