The Waverly Walmart Pharmacist Amy on 10-19-09 and also Mark on 10-20-09 both messed up my sons prescription for Tammaflu.
1st MISTAKE - and (I say mistake which should not be taken lightly since we are dealing with peoples lives) the tammaflu was filled for capsules and not liquid for a 7 year old who was just released from the hopital. The pharmacist since it was 8:45, 15 minutes before they closed said it shouldn't hurt anything for him to wait until tomorrow for his medication. Since the calibration would take about 1/2 to correct.
2nd MISTAKE - Same prescription - I made another trip to Walmart to pick up the so called corrected prescription and took it home to give to my son who had already missed the prior evening dose. I read the mg per ml which was 15mg/per ml. My sons doctor told me he would be taking 45mg 2 time a day..The bottle said 5ml 2 time daily @ 15mg/per ml...Which total 75mg per dose not 45mg..I called the Waverly Walmart Pharmacy and asked to speak with the pharmacist who filled my sons prescription..They told me no they could help me. I explained to them about the mg/per ml and I was put on hold. She came back and asked YOU HAVEN'T GIVEN HIM THAT YET HAVE YOU? She said it was WRONG..and if I wanted to bring it back in or just give him 3 mls. I asked if this was a common occurence for the walmart pharmacist to mess up on prescriptions. And she said no but it probably just because it was Tammaflu...WHICH IS NOT AN ACCECTABLE ANSWER FOR ME...I then called Waverly Walmart to speak with the Manager over the pharmacist and was told he was on vacation...So I asked to speak to ANY manager and told her I wanted to file a complaint and she said she would help me and check it out...So Far thats as Far as It Has Went!
I WILL NOT BE FILLING ANYMORE PRESCRIPTIONS AT WAL-MART!
I also requested a copy of all my prescriptions I have turned in in the last 2 days - I want to check all of them myself...I have had 4 filled in 2 days...My last 4 ever at Walmart!

Walgreens messed up on my prescription. No one will admit to it. I read the prescription sheet myself before I turned it in. They only filled it for half of what I was supposed to take-a beta-blocker taken for my heart condition. (and it said no refills)A week later when we got it straightened out and I had it filled correctly, it was correct this time just as I had seen it on my prescription sheet. From now on I am copying all my prescription sheets and then I can confirm who made the mistakes.
Unfortunatly the walmart pharmacies vary so much in how well they operate from store to store. I once went to the one nearest my house with a prescription for antibiotics and pain medication for an abcessed tooth, as you can imagine I was in awful pain and just wanted my RX filled quickly, Iwaited in line, went through the useual lookup of my name and info, and then she told me something like "ok, that will be ready around 2:00 tomorrow", I asked her if she was kidding, she said no is their a rush, I said yes one of those is for pain medication that I NEED ( I could have waited till the next day for the antibiotics for all I care but the pain meds I needed some relief, if you've ever had a toothache you know what i'm talking about.), she said that was the earliest it could be done, so I asked her for the RX back and went somewhere else. On another occasion with a similar problem ( I have bad teeth) my dentist had just phoned in the RX's for me, it was thursday, my dentist was closed on fridays, it took walmart 3 days to check all of their messages for RX's, at wich point I wanted to die from the pain.
Now I live across town, and although the line moves slowly at this pharmacy, I generally don't wait more than an hour ( wich is about average or better for an RX, specially at places that are offering the $4 meds now), the pharmacist their is very helpful as I have had to ask him a few times about different medications and how to take them properly or how to properly ween off. I'm not even sure the pharmacist at the above mentioned walmart would take the time to speak with me. On another occasion I was at the dr's and a totally different walmart was across the street, so I go in their and my dr's apointment had run late and I had to be to work in a little over an hour ( a 30+ minute drive from there), the lady was super nice and they actually had a seating area for those waiting, she had to call me back up because she was haveing trouble with my discount card accepting some of the Rx's that it covered, something to do with the fact that I had been to a minute clinic instead of a regular dr or something, anywaz she asked me a few questions wrote my name on a sheet of paper and said that I was not to wait in line again, that as soon as my RX was up she would call me and let me skip everybody since my RX was takeing longer than it should, I told her that was great and explained the situation with work, and true to her word, she called me, I never had to get back in line ( wich if you kknow walmart you have to get back in line just to see if the RX is ready, I also noticed my name wasn't the only one on the list, that she had been writing names down of people that needed a rush or whatever.
I have never had them actually screw up an RX though, I don't think I've ever had a pahrmacy screw up the dosage or anything, now CVS, has on more than one occasion, when I've had refills on something and called to get a refill screwed up and gave me something else I had a refil on, and don't even try useing the computer to do your refills, I tried that once, supposedly you can request them online, well I got their 5 minutes after it was supposed to be ready and they had no idea that I had even requested a refill, and without exactly saying I was told that basically they either don't check the online orders, or it doesn't function correctly ( I wasn't sure wich, i'm sure the ;lady didn't want to get herself in trouble by speaking ill of the system, but she basically told me not to bother with the online re-order to phone in).
Every pharmacy and every pharmacy chain is different, unfortunatly it's all about the people that are at that specific pharmacy.
I'm very sorry about what happened with your sons RX, that is absolutly unforgiveable of that pharmacy and I hope you eventually got ahold of someone that could repremand that lousy pharmacist.
