Santander Consumer USA - over charges/no notification

we had a loan through HSBC and have paid our monthly payments and only to HSBC, plus more than amount due. Then this Santander Consumer constantley sending us nasty letters saying we owe them the amount of the loan, several letters was sent to HSBC an this Santander Consumer USA have all letters sent to them cause they was certified always, when you call this Santander Consumer USA you get someone who bearly speaks English and reapts the same thing over and over to us. I let them know we did not know whom they was and all are payments go to HSBC and this has been going on for so long we went to a attorney over it and now we have requested them to come get this vehicle and still no reply or they have yet to retreive this vehicle the attorney is aware of this issue and has called both companies and no reply back. We Never Recieved a change of loan companies. We are still having issues with these companies tot his date.

I too had a loan bought out from HSBC to Santander. I noticed a couple months ago when making my payment online that the amount of the total loan looked too high as we only have 3 more payments to make.

I called and requested an audit and the woman I spoke with was not foreign and very nice. I then called back and they told me that since I had many payments that were late (I had a 10 day grace period) that the interest added up over time.

Here's the thing HSBC always assessed a late fee after the grace period and I always paid it. We went through some tough times so we weren't always on time but close. I got a copy of my payment history and it showed a $17.54 late fee assessment even though HSBC charged me $35.00 which I always paid.

When I tried explaining this to the foreign customer service reps as well as the supervisor they told me I must have been late several months in a row for it to add up to $35.00. I know this is not true and unfortunately cannot find an HSBC statement showing a monthly late charge to that amount.

They are not helping in any way. We are paid up and only have 3 more payments but they are trying to charge an extra $475.00 in principal saying that they had to apply more of my payment to interest.

They also tried telling me that they are right and I am wrong because they have everything in front of them which is not correct because they are CUSTOMER SERVICE REPS! and do not have the background or the time needed to look into it. They look at a screen for 10 seconds (literally).

In all the years I have had loans, the late fees included the interest accrued and the maturity date is just that with no extra.

I never asked to have it carry over.

I hate these people and I know I will have to end up paying the extra money to keep my credit score from dropping.

Is there anything we can do?

I am so frustrated I could scream.
