I scheduled the cosmetology practical exam the first time February 18, 2023 at the mcallen tx campus and I will admit I was unprepared I forgot a few items, being that it was my first time taking it, and didn't really know what to expect. After taking it I missed a passing score by 3 points. Yes I was upset because I didn't not pass but understanding because I did forget some things. I then rescheduled a second time which was yesterday may 30, 2023 at the mcallen tx campus. This time around I went fully prepared and ready to go! I'm in no means saying I was perfect but I notice that even my scores were off by a lot. they took off many points for just the cleaning part of the test alone, which is the easiest part. I followed every step that is in the PSI exam review that is online. This time I got a worse score and I just don't understand that one bit! I feel that the rater which was exactly the same rater from the last time, except that she was alone this time grading everyone is being grading is being unfair and I don't have a clue why? the first time around was more understandable being that I forgot some major things. I told my old beauty school teacher about it I admitted to her my concerns about my score and my feelings about the score that I got. being how prepared for it I was. she then proceeded to tell me that some of her students are going to San Antonio to take the test because she's been hearing from students that the mcallen campus has been failing a lot of people. And how sad it is to hear that coming from an ex beauty school teacher why should I have to leave the area closest to me which is just an hour away to drive 4 1/2 hours away just to take a test because some proctors or raters want to be unfair! It is so inconvenient for me to have to go through this aside from the loan that I have to pay off doing what I like to do being treated this way isn't right by any means. I have a family and bills and all the money I have been spending on taking this test is adding up. I've been trained well from my beauty school and I think it's injustice to be treated this way by professional people. If I don't speak out and if people were to stay quiet people get away with things all the time! I really hope you all hear me out and do the right thing!
