Vancity has been good to me in my 5 years
Vancity has been good to me in my 5 years. They have been there for me when I needed them and their customer service is always helpful. The online banking is easy to use and I can check my balance and transfer money without any problems. The only thing I don't like is that sometimes the website is slow and it takes a while to load. But overall, I am happy with Vancity and would recommend them to others.

I wanted to give zero stars, but whatever. I don't understand why they can just lock people out of their accounts without telling them and make you waste a whole day trying to get back in. They say it's for better security, but their website is so confusing. There are two login points, and one of them is hidden. You have to use the hidden one instead of the obvious one. Then you have to call, but no one is available until much later. It's frustrating and annoying.

I've been with VANCITY for over 25 years and they're getting worse. They wouldn't give me a mortgage 7 years ago because my condo had an age restriction (19 plus). The interest payment for the Membership share is bad and the customer service on the phone is terrible. The service in the branch is good, but they're not doing well in terms of leadership and management. The access hours are limited and the cycle charges are high. I hope they improve because they used to be a good banking option.

The tellers at Vancity Savings Credit Union are nice, but if you need to speak to someone about investment banking or anything else, you'll encounter some difficulties. There's a person with a fancy title who also answers the switchboard, but they aren't very helpful. I would give this credit union a zero-star rating if I could. It took me a long time to find the telephone number for the Surrey Central branch, and when I finally did, the person I reached couldn't communicate effectively. I ended up taking my business elsewhere. This isn't the first time I've had a bad experience with Vancity. I've had several prior to this one.

I bin with Vancity for a few years now. In the beginnin it was great but now I hav had nothin but issues. I had a problem with suspicious activity. I called them to inform them and they stated that there was nothin that they could do. After informin them that I was callin the *** and the media they said that they had fixed it. Jump forward to 2 days later and the issue happened again. I again called them to be told that it would be fixed by the end of the day. Again it didn't happen. Now I am $700 less in my account with no answers. *** How *** am I able to do that when my own bank is workin against me.

I've been a member at Vancity for over 20 years and I do all my banking with them. I got a letter about interest rates going up, so I wanted to talk to someone in the mortgage department. I called the Call Centre and they set up a phone meeting for me this morning. The guy I talked to was nice, but he gave me wrong info about my mortgages. Luckily, I was able to talk to my mortgage advisor who answered all my questions. I like that Vancity cares about their customers and the community, but it's confusing that when I call for mortgage advice, I end up talking to a Wealth Relationship Manager who doesn't know anything about Vancity mortgages and gives me wrong info. They should send us to the right departments that can actually help us!

If you're thinking about using this credit union, think again. I have accounts at two other credit unions and they're usually pretty good. But with VanCity, it's a different story. They treat you terribly once you become a client. I mean, they actually yell at you on the phone for no reason at all. I wasn't even mad about anything when I called. I just said "oh" instead of "zero" for my postal code. Isn't that normal? When you say the time, do you say "six zero nine"? If your unit number is 1806 (mine isn't), most people would say "eighteen oh six." I know I should have said zero, but it's a common mistake. But their reaction was just ridiculous and didn't make any sense. Now I have to go to a branch to prove my identity, but I'm not gonna do that. ComplaintsBoard.com, please add a zero rating option!

I was member of this bank from almost last *** years . My mortgage payment supposed to go from 1st day of the month $4500 . I deposit some money just before the bank closed and there was $3700 in my account . Rest $800 supposed to deposit in my account directly from my work in next day , which I got . Next day I checked my account around 10:00 am . $800 was deposited in my account but my mortgage payment didn’t go through and I charged $55 . If there was payment go through after the bank closed then at least they should give the time to open the bank and deposit the money next day . I got very upset and I will definitely change my bank .

Vancity's computers are so disconnected from reality, even after updating my address months ago, they still have an address from years ago listed.

Complaint about not getting reimbursed for an expense ($472.50) connected to a $10,000 online banking problem that happened to my personal bank account on August 17. During the internal investigation, we were told to clean all our electronic devices and file an external complaint, which caused a delay of several days and required effort from both my wife and me. (The expense in question is for the device cleaning.) As long-time customers of Vancity, we believe this expense shouldn't be our responsibility since it was determined that the issue was not our fault at all!

I cancelled my credit card from Vancity in 2019. I called three times and each time a rep told me it's been cancelled. Last time, I asked for written proof, got it. But I still get credit card statements from Vancity, so it's not cancelled. It's frustrating 'cause I got charged $120 annual fee just 4 months ago, even though it was cancelled in 2019! I hung up and came here to complain about it. It seems like whenever I try to call customer service for anything, nobody answers the phone at all! It's frustrating and disappointing.

Five years ago, I moved and canceled all my savings and checking accounts with VanCity Savings. They kept sending me monthly statements with a balance of $0. So, I went back to the VanCity branch in west North Vancouver and insisted that they cancel these inactive accounts. But, the statements kept coming, so I called VanCity multiple times to ask them to stop sending the zero balance statements. Unfortunately, the statements continued, so I drove to North Vancouver and asked them again at the east VanCity branch to stop sending any statements since the accounts had been canceled two years ago. But, the statements still kept coming. Now, they have messed up my credit report by reporting to some credit bureau (maybe indirectly, I'm not sure) that I had made late payments six times. This is a complete lie, and it has negatively affected my credit score. I urgently need them to fix this mistake and stop it from happening again.
